X-FI XtremeMusic - Compatibility with Vista x64

Hi. I currently have the Audigy 2 ZS installed in the following system:
Intel Quad Core Q9300 (@ 2.5ghz)
4GB DDR2
ATI Radeon HD4650 GB
Nvidia 730i chipset
Yet installing the drivers provided on the website with the operating system of Windows Vista x64 gave me numerous problems (particuarly in games...no surround hearing or decent bass) so have decided to go for an 'assumed' more supported card - the XFI XtremeMusic.
Now, my question(s) is, when I receive the XFI will the drivers on the CD be Vista x64 be supported and if not does it matter (I needed the CD before for my Audigy 2 ZS on XP before installing the drivers on the Creative website).
Do I get all the GUI apps included
Am I going to get that surround-sound-like hearing back (DirectSound or something is it's - the game I'm particuarly talking about is Americas' Army here if that helps). Bass too
I need to ask these most probably obvious questions before I buy the product, just to save me the dissapointment.
Thanks,
Junkz.

Your question :
when I receive the XFI will the drivers on the CD be Vista x64 be supported
Answer :
No, most likely you will get an original Windows XP installation CD with Win XP drivers and the software suite for the X-Fi XtremeMusic Soundcard. The Windows XP installation CD for Win XP will not work in the any vista OS. Below is a weblink to get the X-Fi Installation CD for Windows Vista.
This vista installation CD will have all the drivers and software needed to operate the X-Fi ExtremeMusic Soundcard. Yes. the GUI apps are included on the vista installation CD and some upgrades are required.
Whats NOT included on the installation CD is the Dolby Digital Li've and DTS Connect Pack, If you want it you have to buy it separately, weblink below. Also, this vista installation CD does not have the up-to-date drivers and software.
Once you install the Vista installation CD completely, You must either download the updated drivers and software separately from Creative Labs download webpage or use "Creative Software AutoUpdate" to update to the latest drivers and software of your choice.

  • Bought a 2GB Zen, not working with Vista X64

    Hi guys,
I'm having major troubles here, I can't seem to sync it with Vista X64 no matter what methods I tried, its the 2GB version with the 2.5inch screen.
I can't even transfer songs since the media center kept saying no player connected.
What is the problem here exactly? I didn't just pay $00+ for a useless product didn't I?

What program are you trying to sync with? Can you find the player in Device Manager? If so what does it report about it's status?

  • Acrobat Problem with Vista X64 OLE calls

Acrobat Problem with Vista X64 OLE calls - CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc") does NOT open its window in the CreateObject("AcroExch.App") - but opens a new (invisible) window. Works correctly in XP x64 and 32 bit Vista - happens with Acrobat v8 and v9.

Again, I contend that something changed between 8.1.2 and 8.1.3.
    refer to http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b6fe7c
To show the viewer, use the show method after the document is opened.
In 8.1.2 you did not have to perform this extra step.

  • T61 - problem with Vista x64 NVS 140M drivers

    Hi!
I have problems with Vista x64 and NVS 140M drivers. Thing is that if I install them, everything will be slideshow, even the audio shutters quite bad and CPU is constantly over 45%. I have tried different driver versions but nothing has helped yet. Any ideas?
I wonder if anyone has the old 7.15.11.0129 driver and could send it to me? Maybe that would help.

    Try the following test:
    - Go to Vista Sound Control Panel to view the S/PDIF out properties.
    - Click on the Supported Format tab page, select Dolby Digital and click Test.
    Is the test OK?

  • Anyway to get an Ipod to work with Vista X64?

I recently built a computer under Vista X64 and remarkably enough, the most manufactured piece of hardware I hook up to it is the only one that isn't supported by its manufacture. Whether or not this is extreme incompetence or complications, I will never truly know but anyways....
Is there anyway to sync an Ipod with a 64bit version of Windows Vista. I don't care whether it is through Itunes or not, I just need to be able to add and remove video and music from my Ipod.

You can try Winamp or Xplay.

  • 8GB ram with Vista x64

I tried upgrading my 15" Unibody to 8GB. OSX runs fine, but Vista x64 goes crazy. Task manager shows 100% of both CPUs being utilized, for as long as 1/2 an hour. When I changed back to 6GB the problem instantly stopped. Checking the resource monitor I have come up with the following suspects:
    Windows Defender
    dwm.exe (which might be video)
    Resource monitor itself
My installation is very clean, I have a few packages I need for work and that is all. I have followed the Vista freezing thread but that doesn't seem to have an answer.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The computer can handle it. OSX ran fine with 8GB. 64-bit Vista is another story. There is something in the drivers or the OS that just flips out with 8GB under Vista. I am going to stay with 6GB until there is a Bootcamp 2.2 or Snow Leopard come out. All of my other (4) bootcamp installations have been super easy. This one has been a real disappointment.

  • LR 1.3.1 freezes with Vista x64

Forgive me if this has been covered. I searched, but could not find anything.
I just did a clean install of Vista 64 (moved from XP), and a clean install of LR 1.3.1.
LR is freezing any time I open a "choose folder" dialog box. Normally (on XP), LR would open the "choose folder" dialog, and let me browse around and select a folder (for save/open, etc). But on Vista x64 it completely freezes, and I have to kill the LR process.
An example of where this dialog is used:
When I launch LR, it asks me if I want to backup the library. From the backup dialog, I can "choose the location" of the backup. When I click to choose the location, the "choose folder" dialog box comes up. It does not show any contents within it (no directory structure is listed), and now LR is completely frozen - no way out.
Has anyone else seen this on Vista x64? Is this a known issue? Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    A quick update...
Turns out that LR isn't frozen on the "choose folder" dialog box. It just sits for a long time, and then eventually displays the folders and everything works fine. The delay seems to be about 1-2 minutes, and then everything works.
And it doesn't happen every time I use that dialog box. But it seems to happen the first time I initiate that dialog from any particular module/function within LR (Export, Import, etc).

  • Problem with Vista x64 and Audible in iTunes

I've made a clean install of Vista x64.
Installed iTunes and started it off reloading my music. When it came to .aa files from Audible it prompted me for my audible login - which I gave. It then rejected my login and skipped all my audible stuff.
I've now tried several times to completely wipe iTunes from my system and reinstall it (even tracking down all the config stuff it installs and doesn't remove on removal) and still have no luck. I've also tried the vista permissions fix.
Problem is iTunes seems to think it's authorized on Audible as I have a 'DeAuthorize Audible account' option under advanced. If I enter my login under this, or when prompted when trying to add an Audible file I get a "Could not authorize this computer because an error occurred (-44012)" error message.
Anybody have any clue about this, because google hasn't.

I believe that's just to fix permissions if you can't play back music you've purchased from the music store.
I did try running it anyway, just to see if it made any difference, it didn't.

  • With Vista x64, I can't get exported library restored

I had to do a system recovery on my laptop. Before I started I exportd my library to my exteranl hard drive.
After restore andgetting all my updates an such up to date I re-installed iTunes and attempted to restore my library.
Clearly there was no simple, Import Library function so I went to IiTunes support to find the steps. I followed the steps (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451 - How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists but the only thing it has restored is the name of the playlists I created.
    No Songs
    No Apps
    No TV Shows
    No purchases
Hundreds of items are not available. I did get a warning message that it could not restore some of the songs as they were unavailable (I assume they should be from the CDs I added) but not one song is restored.
    Where did I go wrong?

According to Adobe's knowledge base, http://www.adobe.com/support/products/pdfs/adobe_products_and_windows_vista.pdf?promoid=DN RTX , you need version 8 with updates or version 9 or better. Acrobat/Reader 8 and below were distributed prior to Microsoft introducing Vista, so they are not compatible. Since Acrobat 8 was close to the introduction of Vista, Adobe provided updates so version 8 could work with Vista.

  • Photoshop 7 compatibility with Vista 64

I just purchased a new Dell studio computer with Vista 64 OS and Photoshop Elements 7 preloaded.  I cannot get editor to work at all and organizer will not import photos from my camera.  I have followed techs' instructions from Adobe and Dell to no avail.  After many frustrating hours I went to the windows website and discovered Photoshop Elements7 is not compatible with Vista 64.  It would have been nice if the Dell salesman had told me this.  Anyway, I have paid for this software which I can't use and Dell will not give me a refund since the software is preloaded.  I am considering a trial download of Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 to see if it will work with the Vista OS.

Many people have reported that PSE 7 works well on Vista 64.   While Adobe has stated explicitly in writing that it does not support earlier versions of PSE on Vista 64, it has not put that in writing for PSE 7.  A couple of people have reported that Adobe support says that it is not supported, though Adobe customer support is often mistaken about many things.
Did you actually contact Adobe technical support, and did they work with you?   I'm guessing that Adobe business development did the deal with Dell to distribute PSE 7 on Dell Vista 64 computers without consulting customer support, which doesn't want to support Vista 64, and now Adobe is just trying to ignore the mess they created.
When you say "organizer will not import photos from my camera", do you mean that the Adobe Photo Downloader does not launch when you plug in the camera or card?  That is one thing that is known not to work on Vista 64, due ot a Windows limitation.   Have you tried importing the photos by doing File > Get Photos And Videos > From Files And Folders?   What happens when you do that?
With respect to the Editor, you could look at these troubleshooting steps, the first of which are quite simple:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Troubleshooting_Editor_ crashes
They combine the knowledge from these forums with the Adobe tech notes and are more complete than what most Adobe support people have access to.  You might try working through all the steps, and even if you've tried something similar before, try the steps exactly as written here.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platunum Pro (working with vista x64 beta

Just posting to let all you people know the Audigy 2 ZS does actualy work with vista beta 2 64bit the drivers them self do not work nor do any of the others but if you play around with them for a few hours (not using this work around which sucks) you can get them to work.
All I used was the drivers for XP 64bit and the Beta drivers with the XP drivers in first then uninstalled then put the new drivers in after.
Problem is for now they only work in stereo, though the breakout box does work with the voilume and such.
So dont give up sound will come from your audigy 2 zs just not very easly :P
EDIT: Well it seems that most people know this now, anyone got a sound way to get 5. working?Message Edited by Cafuddled on 06--2006 :2 AM

I would like to add my two cents to this. I had an RM-500 which stopped working after a while. My MCE IR receiver seemed to pick up an infra-red signal from the thing but the dri've bay didn't respond.
I then tried an older RM-900 from an old Audigy installation and that worked perfectly with the dri've bay. So in my case, the RM-500 was dead ( the battery was ok ).

  • Secure Desktop compatibility with Vista

Cisco states that CSD version 3.3.0.118 will work on Windows Vista if MS hotfix KB935855 is installed- I have yet to see this work. I've also seen a compatibility chart that states that you need Service Pack 1 on Vista- I have gotten that to work.
My issue is I have a lot of users who are reluctant to install sp1 on their personal Vista machines. I don't even want to do this on mine because of the other ill effects it can cause. Does anyone know the exact hotfix that is needed for Vista to work with CSD without having to install sp1?

To the best of my knowledge it can't be done without SP1.

Put yourself in our shoes.  If I tell you I want to build a rocket, what information would you give me?  You would need to know if it's for a hobby, something bigger, carries a payload, carries living organism, how far does it go, where does it land (if at all), etc...
First of all, we still don't know what you want to do with this relay.  Using a computer to generate is series of pulses is not usually the best way.  What is the frequency of the pulses that you want to transmit?  And why do you want to use a relay?  What are you driving?  Can the relay that you are using fast enough to follow the pulse train that you'll be sending?
