X-Fi XtremeMusic drivers blue-screening me nigh

I am at a loss on what to do here so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
I get typically one blue screen per night for months now. Sometimes I don't actually crash, but get spells of lag where the machine feels like it is taking forever to respond to actions. Sometimes if I click shutdown in Windows the machine acts like it is going to shut down, then does nothing at all.
So I ran Microsoft's WinDbg on my crash logs and it turns out it is emupia2k.sys ( emupia2k+d7ca ) - after some googling I confirmed this is indeed the culprit.
My board is an MSI P4N Diamond based on Nforce 4 chipset with P4 3ghz, 4GB Ballistix DDR2 RAM, and dual 7800GT's in SLI. I have the latest BIOS (.50), all the latest patches for Windows XP Pro, and the latest Creative drivers for my X-Fi XtremeMusic (2.09.0007 - Oct 30, 2006) and still no dice. Still having the same problems.
I have read about killing some of the processes (ie DLLML.exe) but that seems kinda hack and the one time I did kill DLLML.exe shortly afterwards I still ended up crashing.
Thanks in advance for any information.

Have you tried by (temporary) disabling the CTXFISPI.EXE process from running?
Just ctrl+alt+del ... task manager ... processes -tab ... select the ctxfispi and hit the end process -button (the process is ended untill you start it manually or boot next time).
Which processes associated to X-Fi there are running ?

Have not tried that. Any idea if it will have any adverse effects doing that?

  • Lenovo g510 AMD drivers BLUE SCREEN

    Hi there,
I recently bought a Lenovo g510 with AMD Radeon graphics card. When I try to install the driver for the graphics card, i got a blue screen. I then cannot even enter Windows in safe mode. Only thing I can do is startup repair which takes forever. Before trying to install the driver, I cannot see the AMD graphics card under the display adaptors in device manager. I run Windows 7 64 bit.
    Please help.

    Hi,
After a lot of tries I have tried Windows 8.1. This time when I install the drivers the graphics card is shown in device manager but I cannot open Catalyst manager. I got the message:
"catalyst control center cannot be started there are currently no settings that can be configured"
    This is what I tried:
1.Downloaded the drivers from lenovo website for chipset, Intel HD graphics and AMD graphics
2.Swhitched off the internet so that Windows doesnt download drivers for the Intel HD graphics
    3.Uninstalled Intel and AMD drivers
    4. Installed the Intel driver
    5. Installed the AMD driver
This doesnt seem to work. Some time after I install the AMD driver, the screen goes black and even if I restart the PC. Only thing I can do is to open in safe mode and uninstall the AMD drivers. I dont know if it does matter but I havent activated the Windows yet (I dont want to by them unless I know that my laptop is fully functional).
This is what I get in hardware ids in device manager for the video controller.

  • Creative Drivers causing non-stop Blue Screens

    Hey Everyone,
I have a very serious problem with my Creative drivers, which is driving me absolutely crazy.
I have owned a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook for quite some time and it has been working just fine in my laptop (I'm aware that this is the SoundBlaster forum, not the PCMCIA forum, however, since this is a driver-issue, I felt that this may be the better place to ask for help). I stopped using the card for about half a year and now that I want to use it again, the drivers keep blue screening my system!
I'm pretty clueless what more I can try to make that thing work again. I've uninstalled the drivers I had on my computer and tried every single version of the drivers available from the Creative website. Somewhere in the middle of the installation process, right after the drivers were copied and the card is being initialized, the system will hang without a bluescreen and without responding to Ctrl+Alt+Del or Num Lock. So in order to prevent that from happening, I started removing the sound card from my system, right after the installer started copying the drivers. That way, at least the installation process could finish successfully. However, after restarting my system, inserting the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook, emupia2k.sys would cause an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL stop error. As I said, this happens with ALL of the drivers available from the Creative website (v2.09.006 from 0/09/06; v2.2.0002 from 03/6/07 and v2.8.000 from 03/23/09).
Out of curiosity, I then tried daniel_k's hacked drivers from the forum. These installed fine and without crashing my system during the installation process, however, they did still crash my systemwhen sound was playing back. You could forsee an impending crash by the sound starting to get messed up, sounding digital, choppy and roboty. The bluescreen that would appear was usually caused by commonfx.sys
Now I have completely given up on Creative dirvers and started using the open source drivers from the kX project. Problem with these drivers is that they do not support the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook fully, but at least my sound card works without causing my system to bluescreen.
My plea to the community: Please give me some kind of idea what I can do to get that card working smoothly again. The Creative drivers have never been very reliable on my system, but this is just rediculous. I can't stick to the kX project drivers, since I need SPDIF output, which doesn't seem to work with those drivers.
Here is what I have already tried to fix the issue:
    - Uninstalled all traces of Creative drivers with Revo Uninstaller (using the built-in scan for leftovers)
    - Used Driver Sweeper .5.5 from Guru3D to delete leftover sys files and other Creative components - http://bit.ly/AECNY
    - Used Device Remover to delete references to the old Creative hardware from the registry - http://bit.ly/jingo
    - Scanned the registry from anything containing "Creative" or "ct" and deleted it, if I deemed it safe
    - Searched my hard dri'ves for anything referencing ct or Creative and deleted it.
    - Scanned my registry with CCleaner
    - Used the Creative Setup tool included in some of the older versions of the Creative drivers and used the driver removal feature that it has, to remove the drivers. Curiously, the tool would keep on detecting the driver, even after having removed it and performing a restart.
    My System:
I run Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, with Service Pack 3 and all updates since then. My BIOS is the latest there is (from some time in 2007) and my PCMCIA controller is a Toshiba ToPIC00. I haven't updated my BIOS, the drivers for the CardBus controller or for my chipset in the half year that I did not use the sound card in.
?Creative Developers: If you like, I can crash my system a couple more times with your drivers, and send you a full kernel memory dump! Those things are about 200 megs each, so be sure to tell me the location of an FTP server or similar, that I could use.
    Thanks for all your help

  • Updating AVI Video Drivers results in blue screen of death

Creating a CD in Premiere 9 resulted in the program closing.  I was told to update video and sound drivers.  First I used the option in Device Manager, then I used DriverUpdate.  The computer now frequently gets the "blue screen of death," with reference to an infinite loop because of ATI2DVAG.  I want to download the drivers myself after deleting the current drivers.  The first field on the ATI site gives me the choice of desktop graphics, notebook graphics, TV tuner graphics, workstation graphics, integrated motherboard, embedded and MAC.  I chose DESKTOP.  I have Windows XP Professional and I also have Linux installed; my video card is ATI Radeon HD 4250.
In the second field I chose Radeon HD Series.  In the third field I chose Radeon HD 4xxx Series PCle.  In the fifth field I chose XP 32.
This brings me to a page which has three tabs: Catalyst Software Suite (with one download), Individual Downloads (five downloads) and Optional Downloads (five downloads).  I think the first is the one I want.  It comes with the warning that Framework 1.1 Service Pack from Microsoft, dated August 30, 2004, must be installed.  I have no reason to believe that my service packs are not up-to-date; I have service pack 3.
The Catalyst Software Suite, with the one download, is 11.6.  I think I now have 11.2 (I found this in the Catalyst Control Center from the icon on the bottom of my screen).  In my Device Manager it says: 8.821.0.0 released January 26, 2011, PCl busl, device5, function 0, internal version 8.821.
It looks as if the program I bought, DriverUpdate, did not install the latest release.  I think my best bet is to delete the current driver and install the Catalyst
Software Suite 11.6.  Is this the right thing to do?

I agree with John that those driver updater programs can cause more problems than they fix. I gave up on them a long time ago.
But if one of them were giving me the blue screen of death, I'd be very concerned! Blue screens, even on Windows computers, have rarely been seen since the days of Windows ME.
Rather, you'd be best to just manually go to Windows Update and ensure you have even the non-critical updates. That fixes about 99% of your computer. Though occasionally I go to the ATI or nVidia sites manually and get the latest drivers for my video card. And of course I go to Apple.com to ensure I have the latest version of Quicktime, which plays an important role in all PC-based computer editing.
Beyond that, I'd run iobit's excellent, free PC tune-up tool Advanced System Care. It's one of the few tune-up programs I do trust -- and it tunes up everything with just a click or two.
    http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html
And if you're STILL having problems, please give us more information about your system and your project.
What operating system are you running? How fast is your processor and how much free, defragmented space is on your C drive?
What kind of camcorder is your video coming from? When you started your Premiere Elements project, which settings did you select?

  • Satellite A300D-1EI - blue screen error - display drivers had failed

I 've bought my laptop a month ago.
Everything is working great except two "blue screen" errors caused by the graphics card.
Both were when the laptop was connected with TV through S-video port.
First was when the laptop display turned off after 15 minutes while watching a movie, on resume said that display drivers had failed and then I got the blue screen. Then I updated the display drivers from ATI's website and set the laptop display not to turn off.
All were ok with no problems, until last night when I got another message that display drivers had failed followed by a blue screen.
I am wondering if this is a driver's problem or is something wrong with my graphics card.
    System Info:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T8400 @ 2.26 GHz
    Memory (RAM): 3.00 GB
System Type: 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium
Display Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470

So long you use ATI driver from ATI support page there is no possibility to say anything about it.
This driver is not tested and Toshiba cannot offer any help about it.
So what you can do is to install OS again using recovery media and see what will happen in the future. Please test it intensively with clean preinstalled operating system. Don't install anything that can have some negative influence to this game or additional applications, codecs or something similar.
Test it please and let us know if the problem persists.
When you want to watch movies on TV at first switch to the TV and then start DVD player.

  • STOP 0x0000007B Blue Screen Error after updating drivers for my P67A-C45

    Hi!
I recently updated the drivers for my mainboard MSI P67A-C45. I did this with the update utility that follows this product. I choose the "update all" function so I'm not really sure what was actually updated but I remember seeing the bios and my realtek network drivers in the list of stuff being updated. Anyway, during (what I think was) the update of my BIOS (a CMD window appeared and started executing tasks) my computer suddenly restarts. I wasn't really paying attention during this process but it seemed like it wasn't finished and that the restart was unintentional.
Now during boot I get a Blue Screen message at the "Starting Windows" logo. The Blue Screen flashes by and my computer restarts instantly. It's a STOP 0x0000007B message which probably has to do with the drivers I just tried to update.
I have Windows 7 64-bit and I have tried the startup repair and the system restore function without any success.
    Any ideas?
Can I revert these updates or maybe install the original drivers without formatting my hdd? I have the original CD that came with the board.
    Best Regards
    Victor

AHCI is a mode setting for the SATA controllers. You will find it in Integrated Peripherals. If you haven't set it to AHCI, it normally defaults to IDE mode. X79 platform being the exception. Yes. Remove LU5 & download & install all driver updates & such manually.
If your UEFI/BIOS did get flashed by LU5, I would recommend to remove the power cord from the PSU, remove the battery for awhile, clear CMOS, reset all the settings, especially check in the OC Section, CPU Features. Check to make sure there are no '0's showing. I don't know what your CPU is, so I don't know what to tell you to set the Core Ratio limit for each core if they are in fact sitting on 0. Disable Spread Spectrum & EuP 2013.

  • Each time I connect to my IBM computer it crashes with blue screen error message pops up. Apple say that it's my printer/camera drivers. The problem is with iTunes, it likes to play with all the ports on my comp and conflicts with prnt drivers. How to fix

Does anyone know how to fix this problem without disabling my printer. It's very frustrating. It's either I have my iPad or my printer. iTunes likes to play with the ports on my computer thereby causing a conflict with my printer drivers. Apple should fix this problem, I'm so annoyed.

When this problem first happened, I searched for threads and found a few.  See be;ow links:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1502
Apple say that its a driver problem, but I've never had this problem before so I am not convinced. Another thread, which I can't seem to find, suggests that it is an apple problem - itunes plays with the ports on the company causing conflicts with existing drivers. I isolated the conflict to my new Samsung printer. I uninstalled the Samsung printer driver and then can successfully connect my ipad without the blue screen appearing.
It's not a windows problem. Windows is working fine. Only happens when Ipad is connected. Actually, this first happened after I installed the new version of itunes. I reget installing the new itunes version, but don't know how to reinstall the previous itunes version.

  • Blue Screen of Death after GPIB Software Drivers 2.1 install, nipsbfw.sys, nipalk.sys

I get a blue screen of death after I upgraded the GPIS Software Drivers to 2.1. The screen complains about the following files: nipsbfw.sys and nipalk.sys.

    Hello fkwok
First, make sure GPIB software driver 2.1 is the correct driver for your operating system and board by clicking here.
If you are using Windows 2000, this KnowledgeBase is extremely useful.
If these suggestions do not solve your problem, please post the exact message and I will look into the issue some more. Have a great day!

  • Lost sound devices now blue screen of death when updating creative drivers.

I have an XPS with windows 7, dont k now what the sound card is, I have factory installed software for Creative X something extreme, and Realtex.
Now I had been trying to get sound via an optical cable to an AV amp with no success. I had tried disabling and re enabling sound devices, then I tried updating the drivers, realtex was ok but the Creative drivers caused the blue screen of death with the message IRQL Not less or equal"
I tried all options in device manager including rollback, every time I try anything I get that blue screen of death, whats more, in "Sounds" in the control panel, I have lost two of my sound device options that do not appear even with "show hidden devices" so I now have no sound.

    Hi Nambo,
Device manager should list the exact hardware in your desktop. But normally, integrated audio jacks will appear on the same backplane as other motherboard components, while an add-on card will have its jacks in an expansion slot. So you should know whether you have integrated or add-on.

  • Blue Screen of Death when I try to install Leopard drivers.

So, I've been able to use Boot Camp to install Windows XP, SP 2 on my new 20-inch aluminum iMac. This is the same version (same disk, in fact) of Windows that I installed on my old 17-inch iMac, and it worked perfectly then.
After I finish the Windows installation, and put the Leopard disk in to install the drivers, nothing happens. No Autoplay. When I go into My Computer, and double-click on the cd, the installation process starts. After cycling through 4 drivers, I get the blue screen of death and the computer reboots.
When everything restarts, Windows tells me that I suffered an error. I can't send an error report off, because Windows won't acknowledge my wireless internet connection yet, without the Apple drivers.
I've tried to transfer the Boot Camp 2.1 update to the Windows partition via 2g flash drive, and no luck. Trying to run the update doesn't do anything, the icon simply lights up for a moment and then un-highlights. Nothing happens.
I'm really confused, I didn't have ANY problems like this on my last iMac. Any help anyone might have would be greatly appreciated.

There IS another way to try this.
Boot to Windows and right-click My Computer or My Documents and open as "explore". Insert the Leopard disk. If it offers to install STOP it. Click on the LEFT side the plus sign next to the machine's DVD drive icon (the reason we opened the "explore" style directory). The Boot Camp files are now passive but exposed. Next right click My Computer and click properties. Next hardware and then device manager. Now you can one-by-one install the drivers using Windows hardware wizard. You might even want to drag the contents of the Leopard disk (drivers) right on to your (Windows) "desktop". In device manager open Human Interface Devices - you will find Apple Keyboard or whatever an iMac has there. Rightclick and hit Update Driver - the Wizard opens. Click 'no - not this time' and continue. Click 'install from a specific location' and continue. Next the Wizard gives you a 'browse location' option. Just click around until you locate the Boot Camp drivers in your disk or desktop and proceed - it will update, I promise you.

  • Audigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP3

FAudigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP3! Specs
    Asus a8n-sli
    GB RAM
    6600 GT
    Audigy 4
    LC Power 550 W PSU
I put in the installation CD that comes with the card. I want to install everything (full install), and mid-install I get a blue screen.
I then uninstalled everything and tried only to install the updated drivers from the website in safe-mode and still a blue screen. Should I get the dump file and send it to Creative?
How do get this card to work like it should? I also have a remote control that came together with the card.
Im currently using the onboard AC97 Realtek ALC850 soundcard.
Whats the whole procedure to make this work? Detailed please. How do I eliminate all traces of the audigy on my PC?

Re: Audigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP38 Perhaps you'd want to read this old thread of mine about my misadventures with the same exact card you are trying to use. IMHO that card was not worth the time and money I spent on it (even even less the time and money it caused me to spend afterwards to repair the damage it caused.

  • I get the blue screen whenever I try to install the bootcamp drivers in windows 7

I just recently installed windows 7 home on my 2011 imac useing bootcamp.
Everything seemed to install fine however whenever I try to run the bootcamp drivers in windows to get my mouse and wifi and all that to work I get a blue screened.
    Any Ideas?
Ive followed the exact instructions from the manual for OSX and nothing seems to work.

Question: Does the Windows disk that you are using have SP2 (Service Pack 2)? In other words, is your version of Windows a FULL version (and not an upgrade version) of XPSP2 Home Edition?
Having SP2 is a requirement to have XP installed on an intel Mac.
If you already have the right version then I am not sure what exactly the issue may be.
