X-Fi XtremeMusic installation CD crashes at the beginning - SOLUT
I was about to post about this problem when I just came up with solution. So here I'm posting in mind it might help someone else.
When you got the new X-Fi XtremeMusic installed in a PCI-slot and you start Windows XP and when you try to put the installation CD in, right after the demo video when you press the next-button (">") first time and when the DemoShield comes to screen the installation crashes. When I pressed a button for more details it somewhere said it was somehow related to a file "quicktime.xx". So figured it might have got something do with Quicktime player. I didn't have Quicktime installed but instead a neat little package called Quicktime alternati've. I uninstalled the Quicktime alternati've-packet, and right after I went to Apple's page and downloaded and installed the original Quicktime 7 (without bundled iTunes - you're going to have to do a little research to find it). And without even one restart in middle of any of that I ranned the X-Fi autorun again, and the installation now goes nice 'n smooth - just like it should do without any of these gimmicks :angry: .
I didn't do a whole lot of research regarding that I'm not double posting about this issue. So if this been dealt already in some previous posts, admins you can freely just delete this post.
Hope this helps somebody else too besides me!Message Edited by Atte_84 on 0-6-2006 :37 PM
Hi Atte,
It's been covered quite a few times, but it can never hurt to bump a useful solution
Here is the link for the Quicktime standalone installer, in case anyone can't find it:

Organizer PSE10 crashes all the time - tried a number of tips from here but giving up.
I have a W7 64 bit system with quad core and 6gb ram. I also run Lightroom 3 with the latest updates.
I have Premiere Elements 10 both for video and photos and have had it for more than a year. It never worked well and has either been slow or crashed from the beginning. I am thinking this Adobe product is a very bad choice for video since in prior times I have had Elements for only photos.
Today, when I start everything up, the Organizer stops working and the program needs to be killed. Basically I can never use this.
I have tried multiple re-installs using both the 32 bit and 64 bit discs. I have selected to start with new preferences each time. I also have used the ctrl/alt/shift trick and have manually selected to start with new preferences. As soon as I point the Organizer to a directory that has either video or still files, the program stops working and needs to be killed.
I have come to realize that Adobe is too big of a company to care about the smaller consumer who uses these products. Why pay for a program like this at about $90 that does nothing at all for me, when Picasa handles this stuff just fine? You can tell this because there is a real absence of responses here by Adobe employees who could really help.
Anyone else out there stuck with this software and has had the same issues and come to some resolution? Your assistance would be valued greatly. Thank youOK I can understand using Organizer for video as the auto-analyzer enables the use of the smart tools for audio and vision in Premiere Elements.
Are you able to launch the Organizer successfully from Premiere? Try launching Premiere Elements and testing from a blank canvas by selecting New Project and choosing a name like Test. Then Click Get Media >> Elements Organizer
Let us know if that makes any difference.
The only other suggestion is to start a new catalog for your video files
File >> Catalog >> New
If you have a very large catalog of stills in Lightroom, avoiding duplication in PSE would make running the smaller Organizer catalog more efficient. -
Why does the installer keep crashing when trying to install trial of in-design?
Installer keeps crashing for in-design trial - any suggestions? Mac OSX 10.9
Any ideas?Ok. If I install it and CS5 does work...will the Creative Cloud be able to run at the same time as CS5? or will Creative Cloud delete or over-rule my current adobe creative suite? I would like to keep the CS5 for older projects ideally

I bought “Captivate” few days ago. I received the internet address to download the program and the activation number. I downloaded the program (OK), started the installation program (OK) and received indications that the decompression process was OK. Then the installation started and I was asked to introduce the activation number (OK). After this, a bar showing the progress of the installation was shown on the screen. The bar stopped at 2%. I waited more than 20 min and saw no progress. Then I decided to start the “windows task manager” to see if the process was active. I have windows 7, so I pressed alt-ctrl-del and received the message (2-5 min later) that the task manager could not start. I waited more time (more than 1 hour) and since the installation progress was still indicating 2% and since I still could not activate the task manager, I rebooted the computer.
I then tried to reinstall the program. After the decompression, I receive the message:”Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe support advisor to detect the problem”. I followed the link to discover that the program is no more available.
What should I do?Hello,

Can anybody help? My Safari browser keeps crashing on iMac 10.7.5. The whole window just turns grey. It started happening around the time of the new bookmarks menu upgrade recently which changed the bookmarks to be only on the side and makes it so you can see all your bookmarks while browsing. I know I have a lot of bookmarks, so I tried hiding them, but it still happens. I ALREADY TRIED CLEARING MY HISTORY, AND THAT DID NOT HELP, AND I HAVE NO EXTENSIONS FOR THIS BROWSER.
Does the fact that I am in Brasil have anything to do with it?
Thank you to anyone who can help. In case no one can come up with an answer, is there an easy way to transfer my bookmarks from safari to either firefox or chrome?
Much appreciated.1. This is a comment on what you should and should not do to protect yourself from malicious software ("malware") that circulates on the Internet. It does not apply to software, such as keystroke loggers, that may be installed deliberately by an intruder who has hands-on access to the victim's computer. That threat is in a different category, and there's no easy way to defend against it. If you have reason to suspect that you're the target of such an attack, you need expert help.
If you find this comment too long or too technical, read only sections 5, 6, and 10.
OS X now implements three layers of built-in protection specifically against malware, not counting runtime protections such as execute disable, sandboxing, system library randomization, and address space layout randomization that may also guard against other kinds of exploits.
2. All versions of OS X since 10.6.7 have been able to detect known Mac malware in downloaded files, and to block insecure web plugins. This feature is transparent to the user, but internally Apple calls it "XProtect." The malware recognition database is automatically checked for updates once a day; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders.
The following caveats apply to XProtect:
It can be bypassed by some third-party networking software, such as BitTorrent clients and Java applets.
It only applies to software downloaded from the network. Software installed from a CD or other media is not checked.
As new versions of OS X are released, it's not clear whether Apple will indefinitely continue to maintain the XProtect database of older versions such as 10.6. The security of obsolete system versions may eventually be degraded. Security updates to the code of obsolete systems will stop being released at some point, and that may leave them open to other kinds of attack besides malware.
3. Starting with OS X 10.7.5, there has been a second layer of built-in malware protection, designated "Gatekeeper" by Apple. By default, applications and Installer packages downloaded from the network will only run if they're digitally signed by a developer with a certificate issued by Apple. Software certified in this way hasn't necessarily been tested by Apple, but you can be reasonably sure that it hasn't been modified by anyone other than the developer. His identity is known to Apple, so he could be held legally responsible if he distributed malware. That may not mean much if the developer lives in a country with a weak legal system (see below.)
Gatekeeper doesn't depend on a database of known malware. It has, however, the same limitations as XProtect, and in addition the following:
It can easily be disabled or overridden by the user.
A malware attacker could get control of a code-signing certificate under false pretenses, or could simply ignore the consequences of distributing codesigned malware.
An App Store developer could find a way to bypass Apple's oversight, or the oversight could fail due to human error.
For the reasons given above, App Store products, and other applications recognized by Gatekeeper as signed, are safer than others, but they can't be considered absolutely safe. "Sandboxed" applications may prompt for access to private data, such as your contacts, or for access to the network. Think before granting that access. OS X security is based on user input. Never click through any request for authorization without thinking.
4. Starting with OS X 10.8.3, a third layer of protection has been added: a "Malware Removal Tool" (MRT). MRT runs automatically in the background when you update the OS. It checks for, and removes, malware that may have evaded the other protections via a Java exploit (see below.) MRT also runs when you install or update the Apple-supplied Java runtime (but not the Oracle runtime.) Like XProtect, MRT is effective against known threats, but not against unknown ones. It notifies you if it finds malware, but otherwise there's no user interface to MRT.
5. The built-in security features of OS X reduce the risk of malware attack, but they're not absolute protection. The first and best line of defense is always going to be your own intelligence. With the possible exception of Java exploits, all known malware circulating on the Internet that affects a fully-updated installation of OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of so-called "Trojan horses," which can only have an effect if the victim is duped into running them. The threat therefore amounts to a battle of wits between you and the malware attacker. If you're smarter than he thinks you are, you'll win.
That means, in practice, that you always stay within a safe harbor of computing practices. How do you know what is safe?
Any website that prompts you to install a “codec,” “plug-in,” "player," "extractor," or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown one, is unsafe.
A web operator who tells you that you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, or that you have won a prize in a contest you never entered, is trying to commit a crime with you as the victim. (Some reputable websites did legitimately warn visitors who were infected with the "DNSChanger" malware. That exception to this rule no longer applies.)
Pirated copies or "cracks" of commercial software, no matter where they come from, are unsafe.
Software of any kind downloaded from a BitTorrent or from a Usenet binary newsgroup is unsafe.
Software that purports to help you do something that's illegal or that infringes copyright, such as saving streamed audio or video for reuse without permission, is unsafe. All YouTube "downloaders" are outside the safe harbor, though not all are necessarily harmful.
Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be downloaded directly from the developer’s website. If it comes from any other source, it's unsafe. For instance, if a web page warns you that Flash is out of date, do not follow an offered link to an update. Go to the Adobe website to download it, if you need it at all.
Even signed applications, no matter what the source, should not be trusted if they do something unexpected, such as asking for permission to access your contacts, your location, or the Internet for no obvious reason.
"FREE WI-FI !!!" networks in public places are unsafe unless you can verify that the network is not a trap (which you probably can't.) Even then, do not download any software or transmit any private information while connected to such a network, regardless of where it seems to come from or go to.
6. Java on the Web (not to be confused with JavaScript, to which it's not related, despite the similarity of the names) is a weak point in the security of any system. Java is, among other things, a platform for running complex applications in a web page, on the client. That was always a bad idea, and Java's developers have proven themselves incapable of implementing it without also creating a portal for malware to enter. Past Java exploits are the closest thing there has ever been to a Windows-style virus affecting OS X. Merely loading a page with malicious Java content could be harmful.
Fortunately, client-side Java on the Web is obsolete and mostly extinct. Only a few outmoded sites still use it. Try to hasten the process of extinction by avoiding those sites, if you have a choice. Forget about playing games or other non-essential uses of Java.
Java is not included in OS X 10.7 and later. Discrete Java installers are distributed by Apple and by Oracle (the developer of Java.) Don't use either one unless you need it. Most people don't. If Java is installed, disable it — not JavaScript — in your browsers.
Regardless of version, experience has shown that Java on the Web can't be trusted. If you must use a Java applet for a task on a specific site, enable Java only for that site in Safari. Never enable Java for a public website that carries third-party advertising. Use it only on well-known, login-protected, secure websites without ads. In Safari 6 or later, you'll see a lock icon in the address bar with the abbreviation "https" when visiting a secure site.
Follow the above guidelines, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can practically be. The rest of this comment concerns what you should not do to protect yourself from malware.
7. Never install any commercial "anti-virus" or "Internet security" products for the Mac, as they all do more harm than good, if they do any good at all. Any database of known threats is always going to be out of date. Most of the danger is from unknown threats. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use one of the free anti-virus products in the Mac App Store — nothing else.
Why shouldn't you use commercial "anti-virus" products?
Their design is predicated on the nonexistent threat that malware may be injected at any time, anywhere in the file system. Malware is downloaded from the network; it doesn't materialize from nowhere.
In order to meet that nonexistent threat, the software modifies or duplicates low-level functions of the operating system, which is a waste of resources and a common cause of instability, bugs, and poor performance.
To recognize malware, the software depends on a database of known threats, which is always at least a day out of date. Most of the real-world danger of malware attack comes from highly targeted "zero-day" exploits that are not yet recognized.
By modifying the operating system, the software itself may create weaknesses that could be exploited by malware attackers.
8. An anti-malware product from the App Store, such as "ClamXav," doesn't have these drawbacks. That doesn't mean it's entirely safe. It may report email messages that have "phishing" links in the body, or Windows malware in attachments, as infected files, and offer to delete or move them. Doing so will corrupt the Mail database. The messages should be deleted from within the Mail application.
An anti-virus app is not needed, and should not be relied upon, for protection against OS X malware. It's useful only for detecting Windows malware. Windows malware can't harm you directly (unless, of course, you use Windows.) Just don't pass it on to anyone else.
A Windows malware attachment in email is usually easy to recognize. The file name will often be targeted at people who aren't very bright; for example:
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!!!H0TBABEZ4U!!!!!!!.AVI♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.exe
Anti-virus software may be able to tell you which particular virus or trojan it is, but do you care? In practice, there's seldom a reason to use the software unless a network administrator requires you to do it.
The ClamXav developer won't try to "upsell" you to a paid version of the product. Other developers may do that. Don't be upsold. For one thing, you should not pay to protect Windows users from the consequences of their choice of computing platform. For another, a paid upgrade from a free app will probably have the disadvantages mentioned in section 7.
9. It seems to be a common belief that the built-in Application Firewall acts as a barrier to infection, or prevents malware from functioning. It does neither. It blocks inbound connections to certain network services you're running, such as file sharing. It's disabled by default and you should leave it that way if you're behind a router on a private home or office network. Activate it only when you're on an untrusted network, for instance a public Wi-Fi hotspot, where you don't want to provide services. Disable any services you don't use in the Sharing preference pane. All are disabled by default.
10. As a Mac user you don't have to live in fear that your computer is going to be infected every time you install an application, read email, or visit a web page. But neither should you have the false idea that you will always be safe, no matter what you do. The greatest harm done by security software is precisely its selling point: it makes people feel safe. They may then feel safe enough to take risks from which the software doesn't protect them. Nothing can lessen the need for safe computing practices. -

X-Fi XtremeMusic installation, Audio Console probl
Shortly after learning I'd been fooled into buying a rebranded Audigy card instead of a real X-Fi, I picked up an X-Fi XtremeMusic online. Immediately after installing it the problems hit me from every direction. The PCI slot I had installed it in absolutely refused to recognize it - and this was the exact same slot my previous "Xtreme Audio" had occupied! Regardless, I switched up the PCI slot after reading dozens of forum posts both here and elsewhere and found that my card was immediately seen by the system... or so I thought. When I tried again to install the software, I was hit with the exact same error message as before "Setup is unable to detect a supported device on your system." Back again to the forums. After learning more, I wondered if it would be a driver issue, and found the Web Update 4. I installed this, and lo and behold I got sound and an incredibly basic version of the Audio Console. No nice graphics (think Win98 style), no graphic equalizer, just a series of mundane, and to be honest, quite useless tabs like something straight out of the system device manager. I thought I might be able to get back the Audio Console like I had with the NotX-Fi I was running before by attempting to use the installation disc again, and I was hit with the Exact. Same. Error.
How is it possible for me to have the surround sound and other features from my card without being able to complete an installation from the disc? How is my system not aware of the X-Fi when I'm clearly getting good sound out of it's Lastly, does anyone know if I can get the -real- version of the X-Fi XtremeMusic Audio Console instead of the pitiful tab based garbage I'm stuck with at the moment? Thanks in advance.I am having a similar problem, I replaced my audigy 2 platinum card with the xfi extrememusic but now I try to open "audio console" but get a message stating audio device supported by this application is not detected. Configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant" failed
The "E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.-------------------No Srini,
I opted to create a starter database as part of the installation.
The error occurs "during installation" while trying to do the database configurations.
(I did try once without installing and configuring the Loopback adapter (With and without plugging into the network).
Later I read some of the problems with DHCP and installed/configured the Loopback adapter.
Then tried Installing Oracle 11gR2 (With and without plugging into the network)
But end up getting stuck at the same Net Configuration Assistant failure).
Any advise ?
By the way, thanks for the support.

Bootcamp Installation Repeatedly Crashes
Hi:
I am unable to install Windows XP using Boot Camp Assistant. On multiple attempts, the install process crashes in the middle with an error message that reads:
Press any key to boot from CD …..
Disk Error
Press any key to restart
I would be very, very grateful if someone had suggestions as to how to fix this.
Thank you!
Specifics follow:
Platform = Macbook Pro 17” 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo OS with 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 running OS 10.6.1
Run “Boot Camp Assistant”
Window = Introduction.
Press “Continue”
Window = Create a Partition for Windows.
Press “Use 32 GB” and then “Partition”
What happens: message saying “Status: Partitioning disk…” then on to next window
Window = Start Windows Installation
Press “Start Installation”
What happens: Mac OS logs out, and it spends some time dealing with File Vault.
Window = blue Windows XP Professional Setup
Press “Enter” in response to “To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER”
Window = “Windows XP Licensing Agreement”
Press “F8” for “I agree”
Window = “Windows XP Professional Setup”
Arrow down to “C”, named “Partition3 <BOOTCAMP> [FAT32]” and press “Enter” for install. It lists 32660 MB (32642 MB free)
Window = “Windows XP Professional Setup”
It says: “Setup will install Windows XP on partition C: Partition3 (BOOTCAMP) [FAT32] 32660 MB (32642 MB free)”
I arrow down to “Leave the current file system intact (no changes)” and press “Enter” for Continue
Window = “Windows XP Professional Setup”
It says “Please wait while Setup copies files …” then got to “Setup is copying files” with a percentage after this. The last I looked it was at 55%, but I think it ran for a few minutes after this number before crashing with the following error screen:
Window = Black
Press any key to boot from CD …..
Disk Error
Press any key to restart
Random keys do not work to restart as suggested in the error message; I must hard reboot (power off) and use Option key to select Mac OS to restartYou were correct. Thank you so much!
For others who may be having this problem, here’s what I did:
Go through usual install process and choose “Bootcamp C” using arrows.
However, on the next screen, don’t use the arrows to choose “Leave current intact (no change)”. Instead, choose “format this partition using the FAT File System …”
Then answer the next several questions which are pretty much self-explanatory.
This install worked perfectly.
Thank you again!
PS I arbitrarily chose ~20 GB for the installation, and it seems to be working well. Have no idea if this is too much or too little, but I don’t plan on installing many programs. -
LabVIEW 8.6.1 Installation Builder Crashes Windows 7
Hello, my very helpful friends. I have what I think to be a rather complicated issue and for which I've run out of ideas. Recently, I had to go through the dreaded enterprise wide Windows 7 upgrade. Upon completing that slog, I reinstalled LabVIEW 8.6.1 onto my machine by going to the distributions folder and installing each piece one at a time. After completing this process, I opened a pre-existing project (stored on a separate server) which had some pending changes in a couple VIs which needed to be incorporated into the executable and installation builds. The executable build worked without a hitch, but when I attempt to build the installation, I get most of the way through the build, but then it crashes Windows 7 via the blue screen once it gets to this point in the build:
This is at the part where the progress bar stops proceeding for a minute or so. I've tried deleting the installation and executable builds from the pre-existing project and recreating them, but that didn't work. I've also tried completely reconstructing the project from scratch to no benefit either. I've been able to succesffuly build both executables and installers in other projects since upgrading to Windows 7 so it seems particular to what's going on in this project. The only other bit of information I can think of which might be useful is that every now and then, building the installer only crashes LabVIEW and not full Windows 7.
Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance!
AndrewI never tried using this, but one of the options you could consider...

My machine crashed at the first attempt to download, now the Adobe installer is stuck at 10% when trying to download Creative Cloud desktop. do I need to purge some files to get it going? iMac 10.6.8 Internet service is fine. Thanks.
Thomh57685518 I would strongly encourage you to run Mac OS 10.7 or later if possible. You can find the system requirements for the Creative Cloud applications at System requirements | Creative Cloud.

How to make this work selecting advanced record set dreamweaver complains and crashes all the time
Hi There
I have met a person who does php and sql work but not with dreamweaver. The code I have works but dreamweaver shows me an error with my record sets and it crash all the time.
<?php require_once('../Connections/datexdatabase.php'); ?>
<?php
if (!function_exists("GetSQLValueString")) {
function GetSQLValueString($theValue, $theType, $theDefinedValue = "", $theNotDefinedValue = "")
if (PHP_VERSION < 6) {

$theValue = function_exists("mysql_real_escape_string") ? mysql_real_escape_string($theValue) : mysql_escape_string($theValue);
switch ($theType) {
case "text":
$theValue = ($theValue != "") ? "'" . $theValue . "'" : "NULL";
break;
case "long":
case "int":
$theValue = ($theValue != "") ? intval($theValue) : "NULL";
break;
case "double":

case "date":
$theValue = ($theValue != "") ? "'" . $theValue . "'" : "NULL";

case "defined":
$theValue = ($theValue != "") ? $theDefinedValue : $theNotDefinedValue;

return $theValue;
if($_GET['pageID']==''){

}else{
$pageId = $_GET['pageID'];
mysql_select_db($database_datexdatabase, $datexdatabase);
$query_rsIndex = "SELECT pages.title, pages.meta_keywords, pages.meta_description, content.header, content.`description`
FROM pages INNER JOIN content ON pages.id = content.page_id WHERE pages.id = ".$pageId." ORDER BY content.order";
$rsIndex = mysql_query($query_rsIndex, $datexdatabase) or die(mysql_error());
$row_rsIndex = mysql_fetch_assoc($rsIndex);
$totalRows_rsIndex = mysql_num_rows($rsIndex);
?>
<?php do { ?>
<?php if($row_rsIndex['header'] != 'Introduction'){ ?>
<b><?php echo $row_rsIndex['header']; ?></b>
<?php } ?>
<p><?php echo$row_rsIndex['description']; ?></p>
<?php } while ($row_rsIndex = mysql_fetch_assoc($rsIndex)); ?>
<?php
mysql_free_result($rsIndex);
?>
I am able to join the tables in the advanced recordset but i am getting confused with "" FROM pages INNER JOIN content ON pages.id = content.page_id WHERE pages.id = ".$pageId." ORDER BY content.order";"
mysql_select_db($database_datexdatabase, $datexdatabase);
$query_rsIndex = "SELECT pages.title, pages.meta_keywords, pages.meta_description, content.header, content.`description`
FROM pages INNER JOIN content ON pages.id = content.page_id WHERE pages.id = ".$pageId." ORDER BY content.order";
My question is how can I use dreamweaver with the advanced recordset with the pageID without dreamweaver crashing 20 times a day
RegardsMy question is how can I use dreamweaver with the advanced recordset with the pageID without dreamweaver crashing 20 times a day
Do you get any errors in Dreamweaver when it crashes?
What version?
What OS?
Have you tried trashing recreating the user config folder ( http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405604.html#main_user_config )?
Have you tried trashing the preferences ( http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/839/cpsid_83912.html )?
Has anything changed on the system recently (from program installs, to system / OS updates)?
Have you tried creating a new user account on the system to verify there is no corruption in the current user's system data? -
Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284 crashes all the time " Runtim...
3.0.0.284 crashes all the time " Runtime Error" Any updates to solve this Problem
Hi,
@ gils
I didn't get any error reports from you yet.
If problem still exists could you try install the BETA Nokia suite version?
Check if you have disconnected device during installation.
- Go to Program and Features or Add remove in Control Panel
- Click Nokia Suite
- Click UnInstall
UnInstall also:
- Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
- PC connectivity Solution
Then restart computer.
- Download and install latest beta version of Nokia Suite version (v 3.4.21) from here ... To download the installer, you need to log-in with the SAME credentials that you use on this Forum..
- Restart Computer again
- Connect the device, do not open Nokia Suite and wait for all the driver to be loaded by windows.
- Once done then launch Nokia Suite.
- Check for the issue
I hope this helps.

Safari 3.2 newest Version crashes all the time...
Hi,
since I downloaded the latest version of safari it keeps crashing, often even on startup. Took me nearly 10 tries to get this text online... I tried uninstalling plugins, removing all USB and firewire devices, nothing works... I even downloaded safari again, also the security update (again, since I use automatic update all the tim so I must assume that it has been downloaded). I switched from PC to Mac a year ago for exactly the reason that I was sick of having to check my system myself and having to deal with instability. I just USE it I normally don't try to install stuff unless update tells me to do so or it is standard software like Office. I hope this problem can be solved. Here's the description.
Thanks a lot
Daniel

Some users blame Apple, but in 99% of cases this is not fair. Apple cannot possible test for every theoretical permutation of what users have installed in terms of third party software, hacks, plug-ins, what-have-you. The developers of such software can sometimes be slow to update their products to comply with the accepted industry standards that Apple follow (but which others fail to meet), particularly where security updates are concerned.
Nor can Apple allow for what regular maintenance, if any, has been carried out by the user before installation, and that includes having kept their software up to date.
For the vast majority (millions) of users such updates create no problems at all, but that is the last thing a user with problems wants to hear, and I only mention it to reassure you and not to annoy you!
N.B. Never delete Safari, never run it under Rosetta, check your proxy settings*, and don't change the application's name or move it from the top level of the Applications Folder to a sub-folder.
So, following the advice given here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1791104&tstart=0
will usually rectify the situation (and most likely have prevented the problems in the first place), and users with these problems are welcome to copy/paste and print this out, for easy reference next time a system or application update is offered by Software Update.
If you still have problems, try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
form values
download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
com.apple.Safari.plist
Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved. If not an archive and install is the only solution towards rectifying your faulty system.
*If you use proxy settings, read the post from Keats2010 here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1797417&tstart=0 -
