X-Fi XtremeMusic

Hi, Its my first time here so sorrry if this is in the wrong section.
but basically i installed windows 7 professional lastnight 64 bit version. All is fine but however when it comes to sound i am having problems.
Ive got a X-Fi XtremeMusic in my dell xps 70 and whenever sound plays all it does is play half of a sound file and crackles like crazy and distorts. It does this with basic windows sounds and mp3/mp4 files. Even games are effected
Ive tried so many differant drivers but its the same all the time. Is there a set of drivers that help with this at all i've tried looking but not had much luck.
At the end of the day if the card has to be replaced it does. But what sound card would be best for windows 7 64bit oh and i dont have any pci express slots so i dont think theres a lot of choice really
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks from Gavin

hi !
I managed to solve my problem today, although its not a fix its more of temporary solution. I had 4 gigs of memorary in my pc and i read elsewhere people had this exact some problem when vista 64bit first came out. Thier solution was to drop down to 3 gigs of ram untill a fix was done.
So today i tried the same and now it works perfectly on any drivers. So its not a fix but a sacrifice i am willing to make for a while. So if you have 4 gigs and can do without a 4th for a while it might be worth it.

  • X-fi Xtrememusic doesn't have the bottoms of DD and DTS in the audio console

    Hellow every body!....
I have a little problem with the Creative X-fi Xtrememusic OEM that I bought...:
) The issue is that when the card is instaled withthe drivers, I notice that the windows detect the sound card as a X-fi audio, and not with the name of x-fi xtreme music.... this is normal? all the x-fi are detected as a x-fi audio?... Because this card that I have, is the xtrememusic sure.... because the audio is blue and its diferent like the sound card that I have...
    2) Thats is the light problem.... Now the heavy xD: After installed the sound card I notice that in the audio console there is NO bottoms of the options "DD and DTS"... this sections are missing...
I try to uninstall the cd drivers... download the last drivers of this page... and when the last drivers are installed... there is no audio console and nothing.... only the driver and a old audio console... (not the with moder audio console that shows up in the current x-fi)
    - Know I format my PC and I installed all again.... and the same problems shows up...
I have the windows xp ue v7....
Any how can help me? I don't know what to do... I try anything and nothing works...

when did you purchase this xtrememusic? if I don't remember wrongly.... the newer refresh doesn't have dd and dts decoding anymore and have to use the included powerdvd to do it. only the older refresh of xtrememusic include dd/dts decoding via creative driver. furthermore yours is an oem version....it may also have different function/feature. you can try searching the CD and see if there is any folder by the name of "PDVD" or something?with?"dvd",?can't?really?remember?the?ex act?name... if?the?CD?you?have?have?this?folder,?then?you?won' t?have?the?ddd/dts?function?in?the?audio?console.

  • X-fi XtremeMusic makes ugly noise first, then turn off

Hey, I bought a XtremeMusic just some days ago and tried to install it. First question I had, was, if the card needs an extra current entry because in the manual is written, that I only need it for a E/A console, which I don't got.
So I just connected the PCI Slot and started the PC. I didn't have to deactivate the Onboardsound because I got another Soundcard before. So I just installed the drivers. (I got to say here, that I connected the card analog with my z5500 5. system)
First, anything I got was high peep tone - then I heard nothing. So I looked through the settings - everything was okay here. I visited the official homepage and loaded the newest drivers. After some reboots the card actually worked - for a day.
Today I wanted to test the headphonefunction of the card. I switched the card to headphones and put it in the green box. What I got was a feep-tone again. So I tested the headset with my mp3-player and it worked. So it's the soundcard again, making ugly noises.
But when I wanted to get the sound back to 5. - the tone remains. After a short time, the sound disappered fully. The strange thing is, that I can't really play music. When I play a song in Foobar, it can't start. Same in Youtube, it stocks after 3 seconds. Just the WMP plays songs - without sound.
I don't know what to do know because all the links in the stickies don't work. Please give me an advice howto clean all drivers to install them again. (And of course give me further information - If you know the problem)?

I may have misunderstood what you meant, but when I reinstall again over top of the existing drivers, the add new hardware wizard never even pops up. I only get that when I do a fresh install.. And in that case I ordinarily do select cancel..
Also, it turns out that I get these same errors when installing almost any Creative application or driver..Message Edited by PONCHO2 on 08-24-2008 03:06 PM

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic BSOD on B

This just started happening a month ago and I can't figure it out. My X-Fi causes Vista to BSOD on boot when installed. When I take the X-Fi out, it works fine. I'm also getting a ton of "Unknown PCI Device" in the device summary screen on boot. Never saw these until about a month ago when the problem started. Took a picture of the BSOD.

I have found the thread that talks about ACPI and something about an issue with the 2MB X-Fi cards and the nForce4 chipset (which is what I have). I saw a post from a Creative support staff member saying that I could RMA the card, but the post is from 2005. I've had the card for a while, but as I said, the problem just started about a month ago, and I have no idea why. It was running fine since I've bought it. But the description of the problem occurring in that thread is identical to what I'm having happen now. A fix suggested in the thread is to update your BIOS... but I have no BIOS update available for my board.

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic drivers blue-screening me nigh

I am at a loss on what to do here so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
I get typically one blue screen per night for months now. Sometimes I don't actually crash, but get spells of lag where the machine feels like it is taking forever to respond to actions. Sometimes if I click shutdown in Windows the machine acts like it is going to shut down, then does nothing at all.
So I ran Microsoft's WinDbg on my crash logs and it turns out it is emupia2k.sys ( emupia2k+d7ca ) - after some googling I confirmed this is indeed the culprit.
My board is an MSI P4N Diamond based on Nforce 4 chipset with P4 3ghz, 4GB Ballistix DDR2 RAM, and dual 7800GT's in SLI. I have the latest BIOS (.50), all the latest patches for Windows XP Pro, and the latest Creative drivers for my X-Fi XtremeMusic (2.09.0007 - Oct 30, 2006) and still no dice. Still having the same problems.
I have read about killing some of the processes (ie DLLML.exe) but that seems kinda hack and the one time I did kill DLLML.exe shortly afterwards I still ended up crashing.
Thanks in advance for any information.

Just ctrl+alt+del ... task manager ... processes -tab ... select the ctxfispi and hit the end process -button (the process is ended untill you start it manually or boot next time).
Which processes associated to X-Fi there are running ?

  • X-Fi xtrememusic vista 32bit NO SOU

i've set up the xtrememusic x-fi card on my PC running on vista, and installed the vista driver, however there is no sound output. On 'playback devices' within the windows volume mixer, everything looks ok and when i play a sound file the green bars light up. I've tried plugging in headphones & my speakers but there is no sound output. I've looked around the support section of the website and it suggest changing settings on something called the 'creative surround mixer, but the only thing i have is something called "Audio Console". I'm using 2 analogue speakers/ or headphones. Any ideas how i can get my sound working!
    Many thanks!

Dont have a problem with it. Its your system...
Best is to reinstall vista from scartch, appliing service pack on it, and the install creative drivers. Turn DEP on for all programs.
Dont turn off UAC and driver signature verfification. Vista runs best without tweaking around.

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic = Headphones&Mic + Speake

    Hi out there!
    I need your help!
    Plz!
I've got a Audigy X-Fi XtremeMusic installed and all works excellent! (I love the 24bit crystalizer ^_^d)
But I'd like to listen to some music on my stereo and on the other hand I'd like to use some communication-software (teamspeak, skype.. etc), which should be directed through the headphones.
At moment I try to get along by having installed the onboard-soundblaster (ac97 @soundmax version 5.2..3630, mobo: asus p4c-800e-deluxe) and using the "SoundMax Digital Audio"-Device for Teamspeak. The headphone and the microphone is plugged in the motherboard's sockets... and generally it works. BUT.. if I change the master-volume-control on the SoundMax-Control-Panel this change will also affect the master-volume of the creative-audigy-panel!?!?!
Is it possible to change the volume independently? And if so, how? Or are there any other solutions?
I've just discovered a button near the volume-control of the entertainment-mode.. apparently the headphone-volume can be changed autonomously.. so, maybe it's possible to do it with just the Audigy X-Fi Soundcard and the right adjustments?
I'm very confused and I'm very bad in understanding technics... and my english is bad too, sorry!
But, if you understand my problem and have any solution... please help me...!
    Greetz, Titi ^_^

I am having similar problems. I can use my mic fine but the static/overall quality of recording with my mic is HORRIBLE. I have tried 2 headsets and a regular microphone that I bought awhile back. I have an X-Fi ExtremeMusic that I just recently bought, and I installed the drivers off the cd, then updated the drivers on the soundblaster website. If I switch to Game mode, my record device is set on mic, but the static is unbearable.

  • X-Fi Xtrememusic w/ Heatsink Lower RMAA Resul

    Hi,
I just purchased the X-Fi Xtrememusic and am loving the quality of the Analog out with my headphones. I'm curious though, because accorfing to this
    http://audio.rightmark.org/downloads/Sound%20Blaster%20X-Fi%20Testing%20Methodology%20And%20Results%20For%2 0RMAA%20v5.5.pdf
, I should be getting a noise level/dynamice range of around 94/94 @ 6/44., and around -02/02 @ 24/96. However, I'm getting a slightly lower result of -92/92 and -99/99 respecti'vely. Are those people with heatsinks also getting the same results? If so, does this mean the newer revisions have slightly lower specs? Or am I the only one getting this, and is this grounds for replacement? Thanks in advance for your answers!

Also, I failed to mention most of the capacitors are really bent, but it doesn't seem to affect performance. Could this be a factor?

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic + Creative Headphones HQ-2300D. Digital Outpu

Have just gotten the 5. HQ-2300D headphone, and am unable to get them working in Dolby Digital or DTS mode with my SB X-Fi XtremeMusic. What is the correct way to connect these headphones to my SB so i can get digital sound form the headphones? Am i right in thinking the only way to get Digital sound is by also purchasing the Sound Blaster Digital I/O Module? Surly i should just be able to connect the 3.5m to 3.5m jack supplied with the headphones to the Digital 3.5m socket on the rear of the X-fi to the palm-sized decoder and that should work? Well i tired that and i couldnt get any sound. Can someone help please in telling me how to get digital sound and the correct way to connect these head phones up

Yes, that should be the correct connection. Assuming you're in Entertainment mode now. Go to the Digital I/O menu (farthest right) and make sure the Flexijack mode is set to Digital I/O. Also change the Digital output sampling rate to 48khz.

  • X-FI XtremeMusic + z5500

    X-FI XtremeMusic + z5500@ Hi there,
I'm just curious if theres a lot of human beings who are using this system and if so, how your configurated it for the best possible thrill? Myself uses this setup and I'm pleased. Im on Windows 7 32x with 2gb of RAM.
Do you use digital cables? the coax or just the analog? What settings are you using in windows 7. or 5.? What about the settings in the THX console?
I have tried, digital cables, coax.. I think in my own oppinion that the best settings right now is analog cables, 6ch direct for films and music. I use the Crystalizer 50% and set the CMSS-3D to OFF. Maybe this is because I use VLC when I watch most of the movies and such. What are you using for streaming and watching movies? What player do you guys use?
Maybe if I come up with some more settings I'll post them. :-D

On the control pod for the speakers, just press the input button until it reads "Direct" on the display. then the same goes for the effect button, press it until the effect is "Direct" from there you can run the Creative diagnostics and do the speaker test so you can make sure you have them pluged in correctly. then mess with the effects however you like

  • X-Fi Xtrememusic Driver installation hangs

Hello to everyone who had the intrest in taking a look at my thread,
Four years have passed now since the day I left my last replay on Creative Support forums, back then I was interested in acquiring a sound card that would support EAX HD (v4.0). I did acquire a crad with EAX 4.0, a Creative Xtreme Music (bought it about a year ago) to be precise.
Setting the card into my pc and installing the official 2.8.003 driver package, worked out great for a year of time.
Two days ago I turned my PC on and to my supprise, the only available working device in my Volume Mixer was the "S/PDIF Out (Creative SB X-Fi)".
I set windows into restore mode and restored my pc to the state it was two days earlier. That didn't help. I removed all creative entries from "Uninstall software" (In control panel). I rebooted the system ran Driver Sweeper, cleaned the registry from any creative entries, with each step of the way a reboot was performed. No entries of Creative where left in the system.
When all entries have been removed out of the system (I followed every possible guide on the net about removing Creative stuff from the system), an extra reboot was done after which I went into control panel, device manager. I found my Creative X-Fi under "Other Devices" under the name of "Multimedia Audio Controller". I updated the driver with the official 2.8.003 that I have kept on my dri've from the first time I installed the drivers a year ago.
Windows would find the appropriate driver, but would be unable to install my device due to "Invalid Data".
Googled that, only to find that non of the proposed working solutions (which are about the same, uninstall, remove, delete, clean install daniel_k drivers) would work out for me.
I got pissed, I set a whole day backing up my data from the main dri've and did a format to it. I freshly installed Windows 7 Ulti 64Bit. I tried installing the card from the official CD, which at a certain point would just freeze the whole system.
I rebooted and restored Windows, tried to install the drivers from the CD once more, with no success, the system would hang again when trying to install the drivers for my card, reboot, restore and into safe mode. In safe mode, I went directly into device manager, updated my drivers for my card (J:\Audio\Drivers\) the system found the X-Fi driver, it installed it and then I rebooted into normal mode.
The speaker no longer had the red cross icon on it, but no sound was coming out of my headphones. I unplugged them and replugged them, at no help, I clicked on the Volume mixer.... I had only "S/PDIF Out".
What is going on with my card, what went wrong with the card
    Thanks for the help
    P.S.
In my current system I have two hard dri'ves(each split into multiple partitions, I run win 7 on my ST000 and my Win XP on my ST60), after I lost my sound the first time, I booted into my 60 dri've, I ran Winamp and pressed on play. For some reason the sound played for a second or two and then faded away (died), I tried playing anything else after, but there was no sound at all, I rebooted into XP again, this time the system had no sound at all.
Has my XtremeMusic card just died two days ago

?It has been a day that my thread has been hanging in the air and still, not a single replay has been posted.
One would think that four years would be enough for a company to realize that it is time to wake up, sadly reality shows otherwise.
I have fixed my issue, anyone interested in knowing what I did to fix my problem, private me. I am not going to post it here, the people that know something about tech should of already figured this one out. I let them do their job.
    P.S.
This thread, in particularly, must be considered as a Sticky. The solution to my problem, has not been yet resolved be other folks that had the same exact problem, as the cause to the problem is something that DOES NOT exist in Creative's knowledge data base and in the forums.

  • X-fi xtrememusic freez

I?m wondering if someone could help with this freezing problem of mine. My computer freezes plain randomly when I start tweaking with the Eqs or calibrating my speakers (in x-fi?s own program). Actually my computer doesn?t completely freeze, it just stops working properly, like it takes about 0secs to open something up and then it freezes again for another 0sec. Then I have to shut it down, and when I get to windows, I need to change the mode to "entertainment" to get sounds again. I haven?t noticed the freezing happening when im not tweaking the drivers and other settings in volume panel :S I just downloaded the new drivers and haven?t dared to test if my computer goes nuts when i calibrate my speakers.
    My rack is
    Amd athlon 64 3000+
    Asrock 939SLI32-eSATA2

    024mb ddr400 working in dual-channel
WIn xp home edition (sp2, and otherwise up-to-date)
    creative x-fi xtrememusic
    ps.
    sorry about the typos there

Yeah it still froze even with the new drivers. Actually I think it froze more easily than with the standalone drivers :S I noticed though that when i wasn?t playing music or doing anything else when i set up speakers and stuff like that, I was able to do the calibration without problems.

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic installation CD crashes at the beginning - SOLUT

I was about to post about this problem when I just came up with solution. So here I'm posting in mind it might help someone else.
When you got the new X-Fi XtremeMusic installed in a PCI-slot and you start Windows XP and when you try to put the installation CD in, right after the demo video when you press the next-button (">") first time and when the DemoShield comes to screen the installation crashes. When I pressed a button for more details it somewhere said it was somehow related to a file "quicktime.xx". So figured it might have got something do with Quicktime player. I didn't have Quicktime installed but instead a neat little package called Quicktime alternati've. I uninstalled the Quicktime alternati've-packet, and right after I went to Apple's page and downloaded and installed the original Quicktime 7 (without bundled iTunes - you're going to have to do a little research to find it). And without even one restart in middle of any of that I ranned the X-Fi autorun again, and the installation now goes nice 'n smooth - just like it should do without any of these gimmicks  .
I didn't do a whole lot of research regarding that I'm not double posting about this issue. So if this been dealt already in some previous posts, admins you can freely just delete this post.
Hope this helps somebody else too besides me!Message Edited by Atte_84 on 0-6-2006 :37 PM

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic and

Hey all. I have seen some '4. and X-Fi anger/distress' on this forum, but my question is slightly different to that problem. Currently I have Realtek AC97 onboard sound. I have a 4. setup. To run it though, I have to select 5. in Realtek properties or the sub doesn't work (This will do for me, I dont care that it's 5. and I don't have a centre speaker, as long as 4 speakers and sub work I'm happy). The Realtek also switches 'Mic In Port' to 'Subwoofer / Centre' and switches 'Line In' to 'Rear Speakers Out'. The 'Line Out' is set to 'Front Speakers Out'. The thing is I have 2 multimedia/pc type speakers as front, two big HI-FI speakers as rears and then a multimedia/pc sub. The speakers are not connected to each other at all. Each are separate unlike most setups where 4 sats go into a sub or something. I was wanting to know do you think this could work with an X-Fi XtremeMusic with my front 2 PC speakers going into lineout , 2 rear HI-FI speakers into lineout 2 and the sub into lineout 3 or wouldn't this work at all with the X-Fi like it does with my Realtek onboard.
    Cheers for help and suggestions.

Re: X-Fi XtremeMusic and SPDIF bypass with Windows 7l Hello hwoarang5,
why do you think that this is disabled in Windows 7 and Vista?
It worked fine in Windows Vista, too.
Anyway, I've searched yesterday evening?a little bit more and solved the problem myself. To enable SPDIF bypass you have to do the following:
. enable Digital Input in the Windows 7 sound settings (it'sis disabled by default and I forgot about it).
    2. change the FlexiJack mode in the audio settings of Creative to "Digital E/A".
    3. now enable the "Recordation with bit adjustment" (don't know how this is called exactly in the English version).
When there is a PCM (DTS and Dolby is not supported) signal now at the Digital Input you should here something now.
    Hope this helps somebody.
    Best regards

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic and Windows 7

    Hi All,
I recently bought a used Dell XPS400. Part of the coolness of this "older" computer was the 5. surround sound sound system and awesome audio from the X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card. The sound in the Flight Simulator was stunning, as well as in the couple other older games I loaded. I had great hopes to use the computers multimedia capabilities. I gave it a clean Windows XP installation from the Dell hidden partition, but that had a lot of "trash" stuff included, and the Windows Li've and multimedia stuff wasn't supported by Microsoft, so I decided to pull that the hard dri've with XP out, and install a new HD and load Windows 7 (32 bit) on it.
    I'm really liking Windows 7!
But, (there has to be a "but"), I lost the 5. surround sound from the X-Fi XtremeMusic card. The front stereo speakers are good, but no center channel/subwoofer, and no rear sound. The drop down box for speakers on the Creative control panel only has an entry for 2.0/2.. No other choice is offered.
    So, I started troubleshooting.
Went to Creative Labs and got the most current drivers (SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_8_005) and installed them. Nope.
Uninstalled the card, deleted the drivers and all Creative software, restarted the computer, shut it down (pulled the plug and drained the MB), installed the card, restarted and installed the drivers again. Nope.
Checked the speakers with an MP3 device. All the speakers worked, so not a new problem with the sound system hardware.
Pulled the Windows 7 hard dri've out and reinstalled the XP hard dri've. YES! everything works again. But I want to use Windows 7.
This is a barebones Windows 7 (32 bit) installation, with only Microsoft Flight Simulator and Norton AntiVirus installed at this point.
The card has a tag on in stating it is a model SB0460, and the serial number is MASB046760900437P.
    Anything else I can try
    Thanks!
    Grampa Steve

    I'm not sure...
When I go to the Windows 7 control panel and select the sound panels, I end up with the Creative control panel. I can't find a control panel specific to Windows 7 that controls the speakers selection. I will look more this evening.
What frustrates me is that it works so well under XP, but I "only" get stereo under W7. Very nice stereo,?mind you!

For me the rear left channel is significantly softer and does not work each of the other channels are fine.
