We already have heavy usage of Business Object, Essbase and are planning to implement SAPBI 7.0
    a) We are planning to connect our existing Business
        Objects infrastructure onto the new SAPBI platform, Did
        You experience any issues such as performance,
        config issues, delays, web issues.. is there any
        document or link with steps involved in integrating
        Business objects and SAPBI
     b) Can Bex analyzer gives simliar functionalities that
        are in Essabse front- end (EXCEL), I know that the
        backend data managament is quite different, but my
        question is around user interface, do you have any
        comparisons between these two tools.
     c) Is it possible to get data from SAPBI using external
        reporting tools (OLAP) such as Oracle Discoverer ...

if the export to XML file is successful, the file will not be deleted if you are creating it from Metadata Exchange.
The file gets deleted in case you are using the create universe option and by default the file is created in %LINK_DIR%\log\MetadataExchange, you will also see ME_errorlog.txt and ME_outputlog.txt if there are any errors, do you see and erros in these files if you are creating the Universe directly from DS Designer ?
to use Metadata Exchange do the following
Open Data Services Desginer
Click on tools Menu -> Metadata Exchange
In the Metadata Exchange window
Select Export Data Services metadata to a file
Select DI CWM as metadata format
enter location for xml file (C:\temp)
Select the datastore you want to create Universe for
Click OK
Check for file named repo_export.xml in the C:\temp folder or the folder that you specified
Open Universe Builder and Select
Data Integrator bridge
and use the xml file as input to create universe

Cursor for text and other editing tools is too light to see

I have a new Macbook Pro Retina display running Mavericks.
When I use editing tools (like text, shapes, etc.) in apps like adobe acrobat, fireworks, and photoshop the cursor is so light grey that I can barely see it on the screen.
Does anyone know how to change the color or contrast of the cursor? Is it even possible?
This is impacting my productivity by at least 10%. Don't tell my employer or I might get fired.

Which course is better for consolidation apects of BPC and other EPM tools

Hi All,
I am having the technical understanding of BPC as a tool, but I am not able to understand the consolidation part of it. I would like to gain an insight of the financial part of the BPC consolidation. Not only this, there are few other tools in EPM suite (like Intercompany reconciliation; Financial consolidation; Disclosure management; Financial information management) which requires relevant understanding of Financial accounting.
Can anyone please suggest, which Professional course would be better for the above tools; not just from the point of knowledge but also with regards to job prospects (as I have seen that company's now asking for consultants with background of CA/CPA/ICWA etc).
I had gone through the course structure of ICWAI, but not sure whether it will be of very help.

I understand your point, but as you might be knowing that in real world no one just decides by looking at the face that this guy is having good finanicial knowledege, so lets take him for the job. Moreover when it comes to client interaction, if the client is given two profiles - where one consulant writes only his experience and knowledge and the other one describes his/her added certification or post graduation in the concerned subject (in addition to the same level of experience and knowledge), then ofcourse the second one will be given the priority over the first.
So my view is that just by understanding the topics will never give you the cutting edge in the market, you additionally need some thing to make your profile an eye catcher and that too needs to be relevant with your area of work.
Thats where I am confused and hence posted the question.
Also many thanks for the book that you have suggested, that might be a good option for the time being.

Database used by Apex and other dev tools

As the applications here start to get more complex, I have noticed that much of the business logic in the database is getting more dependent on Apex-specific procedures and packages.
For instance, in many places we use v('APP_USER') to get the connected user, or rely on Apex authorisation schemes to control access etc. This happens - I think - because it is so easy to integrate the logic in the DB with the Apex environment and vice-versa (what would not be the case if other tool were used).
However, if we start using another tool to develop a new app that uses the same logic in the database, obviously much of the code will not work.
Anyone faced with this situation? Is it a bad practice to reference Apex-specific calls in the business logic? What have you done to circumvent this problem?

Hi,
APP_USER is indeed a "lightweight user", as you name it. The actual connection to the database runs on a technical user. You can change APEX authentication to use database credentials in order to have APP_USER mapped to existing database accounts, if that would help you, or use a custom authentication scheme that links to some SSO-solution, but the acting database user will always be the technical user.
I'm not sure what kind of JAVA user you mean, I assume you mean other technical users, e.g. users in a datasource of your J2EE application.
It wouldn't be too difficult to put the special case into your policy, like
IF USER = 'APEX_PUBLIC_USER' THEN
l_login_user=v('APP_USER');
ELSE
l_login_user=USER;
END IF;This should work easily if you use database authentication in APEX. Otherwhise, you may have to implement a more complex policy.

Acrobat Pro and other CS4 tools won't run.

Suddenly I can't execute two CS4 tools. Acrobat Pro reports a CS4 licensing issue and requests that I exceute another product like PhotoShop. Both versions of PhotoShop report error 148:3.
Please advise/help.

Brushes and other like tools

Hi.
I have downloaded the trial version of CS5 and everything looks great, except that any brush circle indicator starts of complete when it is at a small size but as soon as you make any of the brush tools larger the circle starts do break down. I contacted the help phone line but as I only have the trial version they will not help me, so I wonder if any of you smart guys and girls know of this problem and what causes it and how to fix it.

When I select an object and resize, or transform it, it makes the edges blurry, and not as sharp. I've been using this tool forever and it only started doing this. Can anyone help?

It happens when I work at 100% magnification, and at all magnifications. The feather value is set at zero. I'm working with photoshop Elements 12 on the Cintiq Companion. Wacom said it must be a photoshop problem. It just started happening out of the blue -- don't know why it's not working like it used to. Any other suggestions? thanks!

One more thing, if you do not have the hard drive icon on the desktop you can get it there by:
click on the desktop so the menu bar says Finder next to the apple logo, click Finder, then Preferences, General, Show These Items on desktop and check the hard disks:
That makes life a lot easier when you want to find out information.

Change background color - Integration Builder and others

Hello all,
Does anyone know how to change the background color displayed in the Integration Builder and other Java stack components of XI?
We have a company policy that each different landscape (Dev, QA, Prod, etc) has a different background color in order to minimise the risk of mistakes (ie making an entry / setting in the wrong system).
For the SAPGui components this is easy to do (just registry entries), but how can this be done for Java stack components?
Any ideas appreciated (including other ways of highlighting which system you are on if differnt colors are not possible).

can can always have a look
the top tab of the IB tools (IR, ID)
you have server + instance number there
with ID you will have different object names (business systems)
for IR different authorizations (DEV, PRD...)

Difference between XML Publisher and Other tools like Aventx

Hi,
Please bear with my newbie question. From all the XMLP documentation that I have read, it seems like XMLP is the tool that I would need to distribute my ERP information either through print/fax/email etc. However, I have also been hearing about tools like Aventx which is a layer above XMLP and helps in delivering documents through fax/email etc.
What basically is the difference between XMLP and these other tools? Can I not just have XMLP sitting on top of my ERP and have my documents delivered without investing in these other 3rd party tools?

THe short answer is yes you could avoid the 3rd parties but, there is always a but. XMLP with extract the data, format the data and generate the ouput all completely integrated with the rest of the Apps techstack. However for the delivery you are going to have to write some custom code to get the documents out of the system i.e. we have not integrated the delivery of docs with the conc manager yet ... no I dont have a timeline at the moment. I wrote a series of articles on the blog about delivering from EBS http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher. Its not that tough but its a custom solution.
AventX and others fill that gap we have admirably. Yes, its a thrid party solution but its a very well thought out and integrated solution that they will support you on, etc.
So its up to you, custom or third party.

In Adobe Flash CS6, I have a blue box appearing around lines drawn with the line tool (and other tools like brush etc). I can't figure out how to disable.

In Adobe Flash CS6, I have a blue box appearing around lines drawn with the line tool (and other tools like brush etc). Whenever I try to use a tool, a blue box appears around the line and I have to double click it to manipulate it, which opens just that line in a semi burred screen where all the other objects are semi-grey in the background. I can manipulate this line in this screen but nothing else at that time which I could do about 5 minutes ago. For exampe, I no longer can join up 2 lines drawn by the line tool together. For some reason this started randomly (probably due to a accidental shortcut combination) and I just can't put it back to what it used to be. I have inserted a video hopefully showing what I mean. Any help would be appreciated.
