X in Battery and light show... solution
I know a lot of people here have seen the X on the battery icon and others have also seen the "light show" where the power cord flashes green/amber/green/amber. I was having the same situation and while a very few herre have resolved the issue with a Power Management reset and battery recalibration, there are 2 other common causes: A defective battery or a logic board in need of replacement.
If you are seeing the x through your battery and/or the flashing power cord lights.... try this: pick up your macbook with your left hand holding just the front left corner (the corner closest to you, left). Alternately, a very light "twist" of the macbook in opposite directions via the front corners. Does the X on the battery vanish? Does the lightshow change? If so, you should call Apple... the Logic Board most likely needs to be replaced. There must be a component on the board that is loose and the twisting force is enough to cause the battery cut-out.
Apparently, the way to test this for sure (as Apple Support did with me) is to do the following:
1. Remove the battery
2. Plug in the power supply
3. Power up the MacBook
4. When the desktop appears, close the lid
Does the laptop go to sleep? If it doesn't, it needs to go back to Apple for service. In my case, it didn't go to sleep and the technician knew instantly it needed to be repaired... this is after a battery replacement failed to solve the issue. A box arrived the next morning.... I sent the MacBook back... and now I'm waiting to get it back. I dropped it off with DHL last friday.
Hope this helps...
To discard a software issue, reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 Then, try to charge your Mac and see if your battery gets charged.
If it does not change anything, make a backup of your files with Time Machine on an external drive and take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller. It looks like your battery is not working correctly or the battery connector is damaged, because what I can see is that the battery is not being charged.

Battery indicator lights show full battery but won't turn on
I have an early 2008 non-unibody MacBook Pro. For about a year now, the status of the battery has been "replace soon." I was still getting a pretty good amount of time off of one charge so I wasn't too worried. This past Saturday morning, I woke up, checked the battery indicator lights on my computer (it had been sleeping since the day before) and it said it had about 60% percent so I opened it. I was on the Internet for about 10 minutes before it shut off without warning. It wouldn't turn back on when I pressed the power button, so I plugged it in and it turned back on. When I checked, the battery status was "replace now." After using it, I turned it back off and left for NYC for the weekend and didn't bring it with me. When I got home last night, I plugged it in and tried turning it on with no luck. The battery indicator light was flashing one light, so I just assumed it would need to charge for a bit before it would turn back on. After about two hours, when I went to bed, it still was flashing just one light. I kept it plugged in over night, and this morning when I checked it, the battery indicator lights showed that it was fully charged, but it still wouldn't turn on. I still kept it plugged in throughout the day just in case, but it still won't turn on even though all the lights are lit. Is the battery just showing me false information, or should I be worried about more than just the battery? Might I have to get a new computer altogether? I bought a replacement battery online so I'll have my answer in a few days, but I was just wondering.
And for what it's worth, I tried reseating the RAM and resetting the SMC, both with no luck. Could it be the logic board? The only reason I think it might not be is because my computer still worked a little bit after it first shut off, it was only after it was off for an extended period of time that it wouldn't turn back on.

I am using iPhone 5 and tried to Erase All Contents and Settings but it is just showing an apple sign on the screen and nothing is happening now for about 3 days now. All it does is eat up my battery and still show apple sign after charging! Help!!!!
Hi DaVince Vince,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your iPhone. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear what issues you were having that led up to the attempted Erase All, and/or exactly what behavior you are seeing now (restarting, not responding at all, etc). If you are seeing an Apple Logo screen and your iPhone does not appear to be starting correctly, you may find the following articles helpful:
If your iOS device restarts, displays the Apple logo, or powers off while you're using it - Apple Support
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support

Charge it over-night and try a reset the next morning.
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

My mac mini only shows a steady power light and fan noise when powered up. No video or sound and no commumication with wired keyboard or optical mouse. Tried replacing internal battery and resetting PMU/SMC but nothing seemed to happen. Any suggestions? Many thanks! Richard
You've already done the two things I would have suggested.
If your Mini has an internal battery then I assume it's a G4. That means you've gotten a lot of good years of service from it, and it's old enough that it's certainly not covered by AppleCare anymore, and it's probably not worth spending money trying to repair it.
You should be able to tear it apart using instructions from ifixit.com to get the hard drive out, and then put the hard drive into a nice USB or FireWire enclosure (I like the ones from Other World Computing, macsales.com) so you can transfer your data to a replacement Mac.
I hope someone has another suggestion for you. -

Could be an early retirement problem. There is no fixed lifespan for anything, as you know. Find a friend with a keyboard and test that in your machine. That will show if it is your keyboard or your computer. We can progress from there.

3gs reboots after 4mins on calls and shows battery dead then shows battery charged on restart any 1 have a fix please
Thought it had worked but soon found out it had not.
after further days of trying finally, solved it for me Yesterday.
turned off notifications when locked, and bingo, wow.
i have not turned off iCloud but location services are also off.
best thing to do I found was keep checking your usage, settings, general, usage, and flip down to bottom, if the standby and usage are similar there is a problem, if there is a big difference then all is ok. Just keep turning things off and on until the difference is very apparent.
something on my phone was keeping the phone alive even when turned off, and I think this was the phone repeatedly trying to update continually.
to me this is definitely down to the iOS, my wife has exactly same phone and iOS but hers doesn't have any problem and the battery lasts for days.
the guy at the Genius Bar told me to restore the phone via iTunes, not iCloud. This is because iCloud remembers the exact info from your phone and simply reinstates it when you restore, and this includes the iOS too.
when I get home from holidays that's what I'll do, or wait for iOS 8 in few weeks. But I'm so pleased I finally made it work, I was beginning to think ditch the phone and buy Samsung.
anyway anyone out there please try my final solution and let me know if it works for you? -
My ipod 60gb classic is showing as fully charged until I connect it to my pc when it comes up with the error message, 'please wait very low battery' and the little wheel goes round and nothing happens, can anyone explain why this is and what i can do?
I have worked my way through the assistant and nothing works. I have tried connecting in disc mode but although the screen on the ipod is showing that the device is charged and that it is in disc mode as soon as I connect it to the computer it comes up with the error message 'please wait very low battery' and stays like that until I disconnect when it appears to be OK again. I have tried on both pc and mac.
BTW the ipod is an ipod video not classic if that makes any difference.
Thanks -
My ipad all of a sudden won't wake up? I plugged it into my mac desktop and it shows it as if it is awake, all my programs are intact, it updated and sinc'd, but no response when not plugged in. How do I wake it up? Do I need to reset it or something or is there a light in it that can be replaced? No idea what is going on. No damage or drop has occurred.

Try the additional infomation section to hard reset the device and see if this resolves it. -
My iphone 4S only start whit cable plug in and then show battery very low (with red line end) then try to turn on but show searching in operator name command and not connecting and no work properly and when I plug out it turn off!!! what should I do?
I'm afraid you'll have to get the phone serviced, dropping the phone must have damaged additional parts inside the phone.
But Apple will not service the phone anymore, opening the phone and replacing the battery should only be done by authorized personal, not by users.
You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop and see if they can fix this, sorry. -
is there another way i could turn my phone on? it wont turn on or show me the battery screen to show its charging. i already tried to hold the on and home button at the same time but it does not want to turn on. please help?

Am trying to upgrade iPad 2 to 6.1.2 and it shows error like "Unable to verify Update" you are no longer connected to the internet. But am connect to my wi-fi. Can somebody throw some light on this.
============================================================
Throws error saying
"Unable to Verify Update"
iOS 6.1.2 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet
============================================================
Can anybody please respondTry this and see if it resolves the issue.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Then try again. -
Hi,
I have a older ipod mini which needed a battery, so i also upgraded the drive to a 32 GB flash drive. When i did the upgrade, it saw the itunes fine, but it never loaded anything. When i unplug it it shows the folder with "!" icon, and i can't get my itunes to see it. I have a powerbook 667 mhz g4 with itunes 10.4.11, so i can't upgrade to leopard. All i wanted was a better battery and a bit more song volume. This older 4 GB will fit back in and works fine, but i'm upset i spent $37 to only fail. What am i doing wrong? itunes is 4.7.1 How can i over come this?In Disk Utility, select the iPod (the device) in the sidebar. So, if you see the iPod in the sidbar with a "volume" indented below the iPod, select the "device" (not the volume).
Go to the Erase tab to the right. The choice for Format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Name does not matter, because iTunes will rename it during the Restore. Click Erase.
it "flashed" out of itunes.
That may be an issue with the USB connection. As a test, shut down (power off) the Mac. Disconnect other USB devices including USB hub, except for standard USB keyboard and mouse (if normally used). SInce this is a laptop, connect it to its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.
Connect the iPod to a direct USB port on the Mac. Note if there is any difference regarding the iPod not maintaining a connection.
