X-station usb midi connection problem

The main problem is this: My Novation X-station I recently purchased is hooked up via usb. In Audio Midi setup the x-station midi interface will become grayed out after waking from sleep or restarting the computer. If Logic is started it displays the X-station midi interface no longer exists or is no longer connected.
I had it working correctly for a day with even being able to control its synth in Logic by way of external instrument. If I reinstall the usb driver it will show up again and work but not always.
My setup: iMac Intel core 2 duo 2.0, fireface 400, midisport 2x2. X-station usb driver 1.2 and syth operating system 2.303.
Things I've tried: Installing all latest drivers and synth operating systems, erasing and reinstalling drivers, switching usb cables, restarting the computer, checked permissions. It is connected with external power.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
iMac core 2 duo 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   X-station, Fireface 400, midisport 2x2

Did you try to upgrade novation driver for Mac :
http://www.novationmusic.com/downloads.asp?productid=1&type=1
Might help. because it could be the midi command is not compatible with intel mac or tiger os x
And here is some thread about IAC Driver:
http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.php?t=199768
And some information I gather :
This driver is built in to your Macintosh “Panther” Operating System (OSX 10.3 or above).
*To activate this driver, go to: Macintosh HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup.
*Click the “midi devices” tab.
*Double-click the IAC Driver. This should open the “IAC Driver Properties” window.
*Make sure the “Device is online” checkbox is checked.
*Click the “Apply” button and quit Audio MIDI Setup.
Hope this help.

  • Nokia 6700 USB cable connectivity problem -fixed-

Ok, got my 6700 today. Everything worked like a charm, until I tried to connect it to my PC using the supplied USB cable. I downloaded and installed the latest Nokia PC suite which supports this phone (7.1.30.9) and connected the phone. Vista was unable to install a driver, and the phone was listed in the device manager as 'unknown usb device'. The phone display reported 'no response from host' after plugging in the usb cable.
I searched online for a solution, and tried the following:
    - repaired the install of the Nokia connectivity cable driver: no success.
    - deinstalled the nokia pc suite, ran the pc suite cleaner, rebooted and reinstalled the pc suite: no success.
    - threw away the unknown usb device in the device manager and plugged the cable back in so that Vista would try to install the driver again: no success.
    - tried other USB slots (not behind HUB): no success.
At this point I was so frustrated that I decided to take out the supplied 1gb micro sd card and transfer some data to it using a card reader. When I looked in the root of the sd card, I noticed that there was an executable called pc-suite.exe there, among some other files. I decided to delete those files to see if they were causing the problems, I deleted the following files:
    - autorun.inf
    - launcher.exe
    - pc-suite.exe
    - qf
Replaced the micro sd card in the phone, plugged in the usb cable and voila: connection! Everything worked like a charm.
During my online search I noticed I wasn't the only one experiencing connectivity problems with the 6700. Maybe this fix will help other people as well, that's why I decided to post it here. ;-)
    Peter

Thanks Peter, nice job - same problem, your solution is working. Shame on Nokia - i have so many problems with E52, and now with 6700 - why ? Is it so difficult to make a reliable software ? So disappointed ... maybe Apple is the solution - but after 10 years with Nokia why change with Apple ?

  • Should the USB MIDI connection be made directly for less latency?

My main keyboard controller is a Roland RD700SX. It's currently connected via a Belkin 7 port USB hub. Do you think this introduces latency? Should it be connected directly to the Mac? Are there any connectivity issues that I'm not aware of? I'm not sure if the latency has always been there and now I'm just more sensitive to it (after a few years of producing) or if it's something that I've introduced to my system (in my endless studio-configuration reorganizations).

Back in the days where we had HUB's in computer networks, these things slowed the data flow down drastically. A HUB is directing only one data packet at a time, so if two ports are sending data, the HUB can redirect some data packets from one port, then from the second, back to the first one, and so on...
What I've learned from the guys here is that also USB isn't working in duplex (read and write at the same time), but as a serial device (read then write and vise verse); meaning that if you also have other periferials connected to your HUB (like an external hard drive), data going to these can hinder the data your MIDI controller is trying to send.
But of course the best way to find out what is causing the problem, is plugging your controller directly into your USB-port. If this works fine, then you try it alone through your HUB. If this again works fine, start pluging one item at a time into the HUB, seeing if any of these introduce the latency problem in Logic.

  • PS3 play station 3 controller connection problem

    Hello All,
I connected PS3 controller to Mac mini (OS Mavericks). When I press PS button on the controller it says connected in bluetooth menu of the OS. However, when I start any game, it does not see the controller.
At the same time, if I plug the controller with USB cable, games recognize the controller.
    Kind Regards,

Is there any way to make the connection more secure/stable?
The best solution is to use Ethernet. Other than that you can try changing the channel used by the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) until you find a channel which works better or you run out of channels. See KB 58543, AirPort: Potential sources of interference.
    How do you Port Forward?
How do I use Port Mapping (Part I)
How do you enter the MAC address?
    In what device and why?
Will doing these make the connection more stable?

  • Micro USB charge/connect Problems

Had my Z1 3 weeks now, charge every night using DK31 magnetic dock.
I've completed 2 backups using Media Go on desktop computer but last night when I connected phone to computer (using Sony lead) it kept buzzing every 3-4 secs with the notification bar scrolling with the "smart connect" turning the screen to clock, (as I preset it when docked), if I turn that off the notification bar is ok but the next alarm set shown under the date on home screen flicks on and off.
If I turn that off (alarm) the phone will connect to computer and show usb connection in top bar but then get a warning that charger is not sufficient and you can watch battery draing around 1% every minute whilst connected.
If I disconnect then phone returns to normal.
Phone charges and "smart connects" showing clock when docked using DK31
Taken phone back to local EE business centre tonight just as they were about to close but was told to call customer services as " we are only salespeople" and can't handle technical queiries/faults here !!!

Any clues would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks Mark

  • Wireless USB Modem connection problem on MacBook Pro

I am running os x 10.8.2 on my macbook pro and am trying to connect to the internet using an alltel Wireless USB Modem (manual found here: http://pcdphones-client.s3.amazonaws.com/files/709/Alltel_English_Manual.pdf) through verizon. The USB modem works on all my PC's at home and I recently switched to a mac.
I got the software installed when I plugged the USB modem in, but i cannot get it to connect to the internet. When I open the alltel program, I cannot click the connect button and it says "no wireless WWAN device connected" and "no wireless networks defined. To define a network, click on Networks in the Preferences". I've been in the networks tab, but don't really understand how to get it to connect.

When you contacted aaltel what did they have to say?

  • FIXED my USB drive connectivity problems!

I wasn't able to get my USB drive working off of my AEBSn; doing so would cause the router to reboot.
I solved this by formatting my drive to FAT32 (in my case), which has a block size of 512 bytes. I used a program called fat32format on windows. I wasn't able to format it the way I needed it in OSX.
    YAY!

    It works but is flaky...
I have to turn the router off and back on again if I want to turn the drive back on.
    HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS?

  • How do you connect a USB MIDI keyboard to iPad Air?

    Hello,
I can't get my USB keyboards to connect to my iPad Air.  I used to use the camera connection kit with my 1st gen iPad and it worked perfectly.  Now when trying to connect using my camera connector plugged into a lightning to 30 pin adapter with the iPad Air I get no response when trying to use my keyboards with Garageband, etc.  This seems like a step backwards!!!
Can anyone advise on how to use a USB MIDI keyboard with the iPad Air?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Same problem here...
I just read on another forum that someone managed to connect a midi device using a simple converter.
I have a digital piano with the square type USB connector, bought an adapter to convert the iPad Air's ligtning USB cable's USB end to that square connector, plugged it in, GarageBand did not respond to the Midi input.
on a macbook pro it works ok, but would be nice to use the iPad now that I bought it...

  • I need to upgrade my 10.5.1 os on my G4/1.25 (I'm having some audio-midi setup problems), but it's a machine that is not connected to the internet.  Do I have any options?  Thanks!

    Friends,
I'm having some audio-midi setup problems on my G4/1.25/10.5.1 machine.  I'm thinking that a routine OS upgrade might help.  However, this machine is not connected to the internet.  Are there any alternate methods for upgrading system software?  Thanks in advance!

OK, what you should do is download the updates on another machine and burn them to a disc.  Start at this link http://support.apple.com/downloads/#leopard for downloads and find, among other things, the 10.5.8 combo updater that works on PPC machines, plus security, QuickTime and other updates.  Going from 10.5.1 to 10.5.8, there will probably be a bunch of things that you should install.  Being off the internet with the machine, you can't have Software Update sort it out, so something might get missed, unfortunately.
My suggestion is this: if it looks like you might need a download, get it onto that disc.

  • Can Time Machine backup USB Drive connected to Airport Extreme Base Station

I need a new N based wireless router. I would prefer to get just the $179 Base Station and not the $299 Time Capsule. I already have a nice external USB 500GB drive that I would connect to the AEBS. So, once I have this new wireless router/base station installed at home and I have the external USB drive connected to it, can my new Macbook Air with a USB connected 400GB drive be used to backup what is on the Macbook Air and also backup the 500GB USB drive info that is connected to the extreme base station?
    Thanks

I found this when searching Apple's web site but it is old, October 2007, and said it could not be done. Has this changed since then?
    Here is what I found.
Mac OS X 10.5: Time Machine doesn't back up to AirPort Disks
    * Last Modified on: October 26, 2007
    * Article: 306833
Time Machine in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard can be used to back up to many kinds of Mac OS Extended-formatted drives, but it does not support AirPort Extreme's AirPort Disk feature.
Time Machine can back up to another Mac running Leopard with Personal File Sharing, or to a Leopard Server volume, or an Xsan storage device.

  • IPOD CONNECTIVITY PROBLEM WITH WINDOWS XP VIA USB 2.0

    Enough is enough.
I have an ipod touch and I am having difficulty connecting it to my pc via usb 2.0.
I have searched the entire web and came across many cases similar or the same as mine. It's time for apple to face the fact that there is something wrong with either the apple mobile service or the apple usb drivers or the itunes software that causes connectivity problems with win xp.
For the record my case is this:
I got my itouch 3 days ago. I installed itunes 8.0. Then I plugged in my ipod to a usb extension cable port connected to a usb at the back of my desktop computer. At first I got the "this usb device can perform faster if you plug it to a usb 2.0 port etc." message. So I did. I removed the extension cable and connected it directly to one of the usb ports at the back. The first time it synchronized, it seemed fine. So I decided before I do anything with it, to update it to the 2.1 version. I made my account and bought (very bad policy there apple, it should be free or at least cheeper than 8 euro) the 2.1 update. I clicked to update the i-touch. While it was updating it crashed during the restore process (because it was disconnected but I didn't know that at the time). I unplugged it, resetted and plugged it back and managed to continue the restoring process until it was updated. After figuring out itunes I chose the "manage files manually option", kept everything unchecked in the sync options except the applications. I noticed there were random disconnections here and there but I didn't pay much attention because they weren't very frequent.
The next day I plug in the touch again and suddenly I hear that annoying "connecting-disconnecting" sound from windows while my touch kept disappearing and reappearing in itunes. Suddenly my playlists disappeared from the touch. Nothing was in the touch any more. How could that happen since i had chosen to manage my files manually instead of synchronizing? So I unplugged the touch again, restarted the touch, restarted the pc, stopped and restarted the apple mobile service, unistalled and reinstalled itunes, searched microsoft support and read many usb troubleshooting documents in the web. Nothing happened. The touch randomly keeps disconnecting from the usb. I eventually managed to put my stuff back in and keep them there.
    Here's what I know:
    1) There is nothing wrong with my usb ports. I don't use usb hubs, they are usb 2.0, the voltage (500mA) is correct in the device manager. Everything else works fine there.
    2) The ipod touch does not support disk mode so you can't see it under "my computer" and this is not a problem.
3)There is nothing wrong with the ipod, it works perfectly.
    4) This is not a usb cable physical problem.
    5) The five R's are irrelevant with this situation.
Uninstalling and reinstalling itunes doesn't solve the problem, neither does hard resetting the ipod.
    6) Older PC configurations seem to be more affected by this but it doesn't have to do with unsupported specific chipsets.
    Here's what needs investigating:
    1) There may be a problem with the apple mobile service running on win XP.
    2) There may be a problem with the apple usb driver and win XP or older motherboards.
    3) There may be a 2.1 firmware issue with usb 2.0 connectivity.
Workaround so you don't go nuts:
Use USB 1.1 instead of 2.0. It is A LOT slower but it keeps the connection stable and you can work with the ipod. Just start copying and go do something else for the next hour. So far it works for me.
This is a serious issue that needs immediate attention. I've stumbled across forum discussions dating to 2005 with this problem (with older ipods of course).

I think this needs to be put down to the eternal PC/Mac argument. Apple dont want to fix this as they want everyone to buy a Mac. Its a business, understandable, but in turning away PC buyers they alienate a huge percentage of the market.
Now, I had my first iTouch stolen. It synced, for the most part, very well, just occasionally it removed settings and music, but ticking boxes each time I sync'd sorted that, Its a workflow procedure.
SO, now that my Touch has been replaced, iTunes cannot see it. The PC can identify it on USB1 or USB2, My work lap top can see it and has indeed upgraded it to V2 software, just in case that was the issue, but no. For some really weird reason Itunes on my desktop cannot see the new pod.
This does not make sense with the argument that Apple software doesnt work on a PC, but doesnt help that none of the Apple support staff, phone or in-store have a clue about Windows operations.
Because my Touch has now been trying to connect to 6 separate installs of itunes, multiple USB ports, multiple USB cables, a complete overhaul of the registry settings (everything else still works), and the loss of all my previous settings and backups from the last Touch... but still, the PC says its an ipod but cant install it, iTunes sits there, dumb.
The only thing I can do now is sell the device as brand new as it has never had music on it and is just a week old...
It has changed the MiniMac I was going to have for my new flat screen TV into a PC and suggests that anyone with a PC should stick to devices that run on PC, of which there are many, just without the user interface of the dear departed IPod Touch.
    Thanks

  • After upgrade to ios 6 usb connection problems with car stereo

    Hi Everyone,
after ios upgrade to ios6 i am not further able to use the iPhone 4s as music device - having usb connection problems ("not readable"). I am sure, that the upgrade ist the culprit; worked fine before. My car stereo is built in a Volvo XC 60; the device is connected via the standard usb cable by apple.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks

  • Altell USB Internet Connect Card connection Problem

    Altell USB Internet Connect Card
My daughter is using and Alltel , UT Star Com, UM 175 wireless connect card on a iMac G5 with OS 10.4.6. She had a good internet connection for two days, then nothing since. She has had many phone tech assistance with Alltel, but still unable to reconnect.
In System preferences it shows that she is connected via “Pan Tech USB Modem” port 777. She is getting good signal strength with send and receive signal and connect time. However, when using Safari and Mail app she is unable to connect to the internet.
It seems to me that the problem lies within the set=up between the iMac and Alltel card. The card seems to be making the connection, but for some reason the computer can’t realize that this card is the way to the internet. Safari brings up the usual “you are not connected to the Internet”, then the diagnostics application that guides you through troubleshooting with the usual questions, none of which include a wireless USB connection.
Is there some other thing she needs to do for her iMac to recognize the Altell card?

I just gave up on this problem and went in another direction
