X1 carbon: assign FN+ARROWS key combinations

Hello!
On my previos laptop it was very convenient to use FN+Left as Home button, FN+Right as End button, Fn+Up as PgUp, Fn+Down as PgDown.
On Lenovo X1 Carbon I feel really dissapointed to see Home/End buttons so far from arrow keys....
Is it possible to set Fn+arrows key combinations on X1 Carbon the way I mentioned above?
Thank you!

Hi Vlad1024,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that you feel uncomfortable accessing Home/end buttons in your Lenovo X1 carbon.
To remap the keys according to your desired layout, you can try using Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator.
Lenovo doesn’t provide any tools which can help you to remap the keys. There are certain third party applications like autohotkey and sharpkeys which may serve your purpose.
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Mithun.

  • Control-Up/Down-Arrow key combination does not work anymore

    Hello,
I have a problem that occurred in the last week, not sure if it happens due to 2 security updates that came in via Mac OS X software update. I am unable to assign Control-Up-Arrow or Control-Down-Arrow anywhere in applications! Right and left arrows are working fine.
    Examples:
    1) in Xcode Preferences, try to assign Control-Up-Arrow to any item in the menu. It doesn't work for me, it's as if I hadn't pressed that key combo. But I am able to assign any other key, Control-Right-Arrow, for example.
    2) in Logic Pro 9, I tried the same in the keyboard shortcuts dialog. Control-Left/Right-Arrow are working fine, but Control-Up/Down-arrows cannot be entered.
    3) at last, I wrote my own little dummy test Cocoa application in Xcode, and I assigned Control-Up/Down-Arrow to 2 menu items in Interface Builder, and assigned some action. The action did not work when I pressed the shortcut. But it does work with Control-Left/Right-Arrow. Also clicking the menu items with the mouse works, even when configured to control-up/down-arrows.
I checked Universal Access in system settings, and mousekeys is off.
I installed these sw updates last week: Xcode 3.2.4, Security Update 2010-005 + 2010-006. Was anything changed about the key combinations?
Could anyone confirm or deny my findings? It used to work before the sw update. What could have possibly happened to Control-Up/Down-Arrows?
Thanks for any help, it's appreciated!

It turned out that the Control-Up/Down-Arrow shortcuts were taken by the Spaces app - even though Spaces was disabled! The problem was fixed by enabling Spaces and disabling it again.

  • Help!!! Need to assign tet to key combination...

I need to assign a key combination, i.e., ctrl-alt-r, to a text string, i.e., an IP address + command line parameters.
Any suggestions on how I might accomplish this?

  • Possible to create Fn + Arrow key combos to emulate Home, End, etc.?

    Hey all,
Lenovo puts the Fn key on the lower-left corner of the keyboard. Apple also does this, and pressing Fn + the arrow keys emulate various page nav keys like Home, End, Page Down, and Page Up. I have always found these features to be very helpful because these key combos are much easier to reach than the small or non-existent Home, etc. keys on smaller keyboards.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to assign Fn arrow key combos on the Lenovo W500 line of Thinkpads. They currently seem unassigned although some documentation says they are used to advance track, etc. in Windows Media Player. I wonder if AutoHotKey would permit this functionality.
Anyway, I'd appreciate any advice that anyone can provide. Thanks.

AFAIK, Fn doesn't show up as a modifier to the system; it's handled by the keyboard/BIOS directly.
AutoHotkey might work if you can intercept media commands and replace it with a key combination of your choosing. It's probably your best bet.

  • Why can't I assign CMD F7 key to macros?

I use a product called iKey to create all sorts of macros. I have noticed that with both my iBooks (Late 2004 and Mid 2005) I cannot assign any macro to cmd F7, or Option F7, or Cntl F7, etc. (Fn F7 works fine.) Can anyone tell me whether there is something special about the F7 key?

By the way, this isn't an iKey thing. If I go to the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane in Tiger and select the Keyboard Shortcuts tab, it too will not allow the assignment of any key combination involving F7 except for Fn F7. This is beginning to drive me nuts!

  • Assign key combination to service

I got a couple of questions:
    1. In keyboard preferences you can assign a shortcut to Services you made with Automator. When I assign a combination that includes the '\' key, it simply disappears, so I can't assign command+\ to my service. It worked previously, though. Why is that?
    2. My Automator script is as follows:
    tell application "GrowlHelperApp"
              set the allNotificationsList to ¬
                        {"Audio Output Source"}
              set the enabledNotificationsList to ¬
                        {"Audio Output Source"}
              register as application ¬
"Audio Output Source" all notifications allNotificationsList ¬
                        default notifications enabledNotificationsList ¬
                        icon of application "Script Editor"
              do shell script "SwitchAudioSource -n"
do shell script "SwitchAudioSource -t system -n"
set CURRENT to do shell script "SwitchAudioSource -c"
if CURRENT is "iMic USB audio system" then
                        set DEVICE to "Speakers enabled"
              else
                        set DEVICE to "Headphones enabled"
              end if
              --          Send a Notification...
              notify with name ¬
                        "Audio Output Source" title ¬
                        "Audio Output Source" description ¬
DEVICE application name "Audio Output Source"
    end tell
It doesn't really matter what the script does, but when I press the Play button in the Automator interface, it runs instantly. When I assign a shortcut and press it (I assigned opt-command-,), it takes a few secs until the script is run for the first time. Subsiquent callings to the script are fast as expected. How can I make it run fast the first time?
    3. I want to assign the Caps Lock key or Eject key to execute the script. What is the simplest way possible?
If you know the answer to either question, I would be very happy to read your answer.

    HI,
Key combination is your field combinatios which you select or maintain during pricing procedure, its a first step of Pricing procedure determination.
Lets say for PR00 (Price) you want to determine price with two factors.
First you will create two condition table with the Tcode V/03
Here you can have the combination as per your business need.like i said
    1. You want to maintain price for customer & material this is one key field combination. Table 005
    2. You also want to maintain price for customer & material & plant combination this is another key field combination.Table 006
Now the next is you will create the access sequence for Condition Type PR00 for exp. u maintain access sequence PR02
First go to V/07 & create access seq. PR02
now select PR02 & click on access here new entries & and select the condition table here which u have created in the manner system should the condition record for a condition type PR00.(Basically it checks from specific to general).Means first you will put here Table no. 006 & then 005
After this step you will select that condition table line & select field then enter it will go green means its activate now also select the Exclusive check in front of all the condition table & save it.
Now you can assign that access seq. to your contition type PR00 & accordingly you can make the condition record for your customer.
I hope it will clear your point.
revert me if face any issue.
    Regards
    Deepak

  • Steps to assign new key combination to existing output type

    Hi,
Can anyone share details about how to create a new key combination for existing output type.

    Dear Dharmesh,
    Go to:
IMG - Sales and Distribution - Basic Functions - Output Control - Output Determination - Output Determination Using the Condition Technique - Maintain Output Determination for Sales Activities - Maintain Condition Tables -
Maintain output condition table for sales activities
Click on 'Condition" from the Menu Bar. Then select "Create" from drop down menu.
Give a Table Number & press Enter.
Here select the required Feild from Feild Catalogue & Click on Generate.
    Then goto:
IMG - Sales and Distribution - Basic Functions - Output Control - Output Determination - Output Determination Using the Condition Technique - Maintain Output Determination for Sales Activities - Maintain Access Sequences
Here Click on the required Access Sequence & then click on "Accesses' on  the right side. Here you can assign the newly created Condition Table at required level (10, 20, 30 etc)...
Sebsequently try maintaing condition record & you will see the new Key Combination appearing.
    Hope this helps.. .

  • Key Bindings using the arrow keys

Following is some code that allows you to move a component around the screen using the arrow keys. I've noticed a problem and I'm just wondering if its Java or my keyboard.
Lets start with an example that works:
Press the down and right keys. Then press either the up or left key. The image moves proving that it supports 3 keys.
    Now for the problem:
Press the up and left keys. Then press either the down or right key. Three things to notice:
    a) the direction doesn't change when the third key is pressed
    b) no output is displayed, so the ActionListener is not being invoked
    c) after a short time, the program starts beeping
Now try rerunning the code after removing the comments that assign the key bindings to the "a, s, d, f" keys. Redo the above test and it works even if all four keys are pressed.
I don't remember this problem when I wrote the code a while ago, but I did recently get a cheap new keyboard so I'm just wondering if the problem is my keyboard or whether its a quirk with Java.

if you hold down left and right (so it doesn't move), down works, but not up.
hold up/down, right works but not left.Yes, the problem only seems to be when the up and left in combination with the right or down key is pressed.
num lock off - use the number pad arrow keys and all works OK Thats interesting, I didn't notice that. Although it just confuses the issue as to what the problem is.
So it appears to me that:
    a) left + up + down, and
    b) left + up + right
are special key combinations that are intercepted by either the OS or the JVM. Do these key combinations ring a bell to anybody?
I'm use JDK1.4.2 on XP. I wonder if other OS will have the same problem?
Again, this isn't a real, problem, just more of a curiosity. Thanks,

  • Arrow keys spark random 5-10 minute keyboard glitch

Some combination of the arrow keys will acuse the following errors will pop uptogether, then in about 5-10 minutes they vanish:
-Everything I type will be in caps, even though caps lock is off,
    - both my USB and touchpad mouses will open new browser windows when I right-click on tabs,
    - my mouse will highlight and not stop highlighting,
-I can't switch to other windows using the minimized tabs on the taskbar, they just bring up new windows (be it browser or other programs)
-The mouse wheel will send me through my broswer history rather than scroll down or up.
-Macros don't do as expected. Example: Shift+A takes me to firefox's addons rather than highlight everything on the page.
    - clicking on bookmarks in firefox will open the website in a new window rather than in the same tab.
This error I get quite frequently:  Random semicolons followed by a random number will appear when I navigate a document with the arrow keys. This usually preceeds the following errors above.
Its a new HP Probook 450 G1, and I've had plenty of programs scanning my system for viruses and malware. I've even reset windows and the problems persist. HP phone support did not help me. What's the deal?
While writing this complain those same errors occured and navigated me away from this page, forcing me to write it again.
I'll post this over and over until I get a reponse and a repair suggestion if I have to.

SO I ended up getting in contact with a rep. who noticed that I had restarted windows and some things had not been activated. He got them updated and told me to get rid of AVG, and some other antimalware stuff because 'they weren't needed.'
I only got them in the first place because I suspected this issue to be viral in nature. We decided to see if these changes altered my situation.
Answer: Things have gotten worse. Semicolons appear much more commonly when I use the arrow keys in documents, and its the arrow keys that somehow lock the keyboard into a state where it thinks I'm holding down the shift key.
These errors have nothing to do with me using the shift key, although repeatedly pressing it does reset the semi-perement shift key issue.
And no, nothing has ever been spilled in/on the keyboard.

  • Why after i update my left and right arrow keys stop working

my left and right arrow keys stoped working after i updated to Mavericks now the dont work

    Hello ccombs2014,
It sounds like 2 of your keys are not working after updating to Mavericks. I found this section of an article for you to help troubleshoot this issue named:
One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1381
Some keys don't work as expected
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Speech.
Click the Text to Speech tab.
If "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" is enabled, the key or key combination set to speak text cannot be used for other purposes or used to type text--click Set Key and change it to a less-commonly used key combination (try to use modifier keys such as Shift, Command, Option, and Control). Or, disable the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" option.
Click the Universal Access pane in System Preferences, click the Keyboard tab.
Make sure that Slow Keys is turned off. With Slow Keys on, you need to press a key for a longer period of time for it to be recognized.
In the Universal Access pane, click the Mouse tab, and make sure Mouse Keys is turned off. With Mouse Keys enabled, you cannot use the Numeric Keypad to enter numbers--instead the keypad moves the pointer (cursor). (There is an option to enable Mouse Keys with five presses of the Option key; you may want to turn that option off to avoid accidentally enabling it.) If Mouse Keys is enabled and you are using a keyboard with no numeric keypad or Num Lock function, see Unable to type while Mouse Keys is enabled in Mac OS X.
If the function keys on the top row of the keyboard are not working as expected, see Mac OS X: How to change the behavior of function keys.
If the issue persists, use Keyboard Viewer to help isolate the issue:
Click the Language & Text pane (Mac OS X v10.6) or International pane (Mac OS X v10.5.8 or earlier) in System Preferences.
Click the Input Sources tab (or Input Menu tab in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
Click the Keyboard & Character Viewer "On" checkbox to select it (click the Keyboard Viewer "On" checkbox in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
From the Input (flag) menu, choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
If the keyboard is connected and detected by Mac OS X, the keys you type will highlight in the Keyboard Viewer window. Open TextEdit (or any text application), and try to type something using the keys that were previously not responding to see if they highlight in Keyboard Viewer.
Start from the Mac OS X Install Disc, choose Terminal from the Utilities menu and test the keys which were previously not working.  If the keys work while started from the Install disc, then the keyboard itself is working correctly.  Use Mac OS X: How to troubleshoot a software issue to isolate the software issue that may be causing the keys to not respond.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Complex key combinations get eaten by keyboard layout changer

I am using gnome 3 and have a layout switcher on ctrl-shift. However any key combination which involves ctrl-shift (for instance ctrl-shift-n in chrome) causes a layout change (ctrl-shift) and nothing happens when I press N. I also can not select any text in words since it involves ctrl-shift + arrows while selecting by ctrl-arrows works fine.

I am getting desperate. Is it only me having this problem and no solution?

  • Macbook keyboard left/right arrow keys don't work

    Hello everyone,
First time here and first time to touch a Macbook - I'm in IT but on the other side of the fence.
My partner's laptop is a Core2-Duo @ 2GHz which I've stuck 4GB of RAM and a newer SATA HDD into, I've also updated the firmware just in case it was needed to see the 4GB and also I seem to recall bootcamp wanting it.
A while back I was asked to put Vista-64 on it, I've done that and like most people mucked around with bootcamp drivers and got nearly everything working.
I noticed that some keys and the 'right click' ability wasn't working so I installed the Keyboard Input Remapper - this seems to only be for MacBook Pro however it did get me a right-click button so I didn't argue with that.
I'm not sure if it's because I've upgraded the firmware or not but Windows detects the keyboard as a MacBook Pro - and after I install the keyboard remapper it comes up as a more generic keyboard device "HID Compliant Keyboard" I think it is.
In particular the left and right directional arrow keys simply don't work, I can't even re-map them with a third party utility like Sharpkeys because it can't detect any input from them.
Doesn't seem to matter if I use the "Macbook Pro" keyboard or the "HID Compliant" keyboard with or without the input remapper - no combination I've found can seem to make it work and I can't find a non "Pro" keyboard driver.
I've spent many hours trying to figure this out and reading posts all over the web, the keys work under Mac OS 10.5.4.
    Thanks in advance.
