X1 Carbon - No Sound When Connected to Docking Station

Hi,
Sound gets muted when connected to docking station/ HDMI.
Please can you help me restore sound on X1 Carbon even when connected to docking station (inc. HDMI).
Thanks,
ME

I am always amazed in these forums by the number of people who think they are helping by asking obvious questions about the problem with no clue what the real issue is or how to help.
That being said:
I had the same problem after upgrading.
Could boot your tablet, should fix the problem.
1. power off the unit.
2. Power on by holding the power button and volume up button at the same time.
3. using the volume up and down button as a right and left curser, selectt the Android icon and press the power button.
4. this will cold boot the system and the various dock functions should return.
Warning: Selecting anything else but the android icon will reset the device to factory defaults and wipeout all your info.

  • No sound when connected to docking station(s)

I use my Thrive tablet connected to Bose computer speakers for pretty impressive stereo setup. This works fine when I am connected directly to the Thrive via the 3.5mm earphone jack, but when I use a docking station (either the Media one or the standard one with audio out), i get no audio. If I have speakers plugged directly into tablet (bypassing dock), still no sound...as soon as I unseat it from dock, I have sound again.
Anyone seen this or can help me out?
    Thanks...love my Thrive!

  • New ipad has a high frequency buzz when connected to docking station.

New ipad creates a high frequency buzz/sensation when charging on the docking station and does not have buzz when connected directly to usb charger?

It is hard to be sure without seeing it, but it sounds like a bad connection to the docking port. (bad motherboard)

  • Nano doesn't automatically start playing when connected to docking station

I have a Philips CD/Radio/ipod player that is compatible with my nano. My husband has the a nano (same generation) and when he connects his to the docking station, it automatically starts playing. He can use the controls on the machine vs on the nano. I can only start playing mine by clicking the play button on my nano.
I've gone through both of our nano's to see if there is a difference in settings and I can't find anything that's different.
    Please help...it's really annoying.

So once you start it, can you then use the controls?
So what does it play when he plugs it in? It seems like he must be pre-selecting something to play, so maybe it's already in progress when he plugs in, and you are not doing that. Put some of his music in your iTunes and tell him to make it work - watch what he does very carefully
Does the ipod player say anything in the manual about more than one iPod or automatic playing?

  • Artwork display when connected to docking station

I have a 6th gen Nano & when it is connected to my docking station I expected the album artwork to be displayed continuously rather than fade out after a few seconds. It did stay displayed once, but only once & I have never managaged to get it to happen again. Should I be able to achieve this and if so how?

While syncing or processing in your dock, the Nano typically turns off the Nano display so it can update you with the progress of your sync. As a result, you shouldn't see any album art until the USB cable is disconnected from Nano.
The only exception would be if the Nano wasn't completely seated in the dock/USB cable, which would mean that you could still see the album art.

Some progess I see. To be honest, i would not waste your time with trying to connect using wireless.
You are likely to get poor connections and dropping out.
If its working using a cable, then there is no need to bother with giving me the network settings, bu see how it goes, because sometimes giving the TV a static IP address can give better results.
There is an example of a couple of powerline adapters on the diagram below. Just ignore the network switch unless you want to connect other devices which are near to the TV.

  • Squeeking sound when connecting but no display

    Yes it is.

And im sure that the screen works because it works fine with my MacBook Pro, so im thinking that i need some sort of driver... Not sure though...

  • Iphone 3 only blank light screen after fall on floor...say sound when connecting to Itunes

the Iphone is not broken, but it only shows a light blue/white screen. It gives a sound when connecting to Itunes. I have tried ti hardboot but no help. im now trying to recover trough Itunes but the screen is still light blue. it can be the graphic somehow??
    What to do?
The Phone was falled out of my hands

The phone is CERTAINLY broken.  It worked immediately before you dropped it, and stopped working right after.  What makes you think that your dropping the phone didn't break it?
    You have 3 choices:
You can bring your phone to Apple and pay for an out of warranty exchange ($149 in the US)
    You can buy another phone
You can find a 3rd party repair shop in your area and see if they can ifx it.

  • IPod Touch 4th gen after updating to IOS 6.0.1 no longer plays sound when connected to a JVC KW-AV60BT through USB port.

It used to work fine, but now when you plug in to the USB, it properly identifies the head unit in settings>General>About, and the JVC unit displays album art, track info and scrolls through music fine, but no sound comes through the speakers. I've tried to reset all settings on the iPod, I've tried the reset on the head unit, even disconnected the vehicle battery and nothing changes. I can also add that my sisters iPhone 4S on IOS 6.0.1 also performs the same when connected. I've tried my Touch in the USB port of my 2010 Chevy truck and that works fine. oh, and an MP3 player worked proper with the JVC USB port.

    - Try resetting the car system if you can.
    Sometimes this works
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
However. sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility. In that case you will have to wait for a firmware update to either the care system or the iPod.

  • My Nano has no sound when connected to car stereo USB

My Nano has no sound when I connect it to my car stereo USB.  The display works though

Why don't you try changing the input on the car stereo? I have a '13 Honda Odyssey and whenever I plug in my 7th gen nano I have to press a button labeled "USB/Aux" to switch to the Nano. I would also make sure to check that it is nano compatible, that the volume is up and that the stereo is on. Not to make you sound dumb, but you honestly might feel that way if you had the stereo off, I know I would (and have!)

  • Whistling sound when connected to aux cable

When I connect ipod nano to AUX port on my stereo I get a whistling feedback sound along with the music. But when connecting another ipod its fine. Any suggestions??

    > The projector speakers are working because if I connect via the VGA output I do get sound from the projector.
There must be something wrong with projector settings.
Fact is that HDMI provide digital sound. VGA provides only analogue signal.
I dont think there is a problem with the notebook since the sound appears properly via speakers and also its working if an TV is connected to the notebooks HDMI port.
    By the way:
    > When plugged into the lecturn via HDMI, I can see the lecturn in the "Playback devices" window. It comes up as "Extron D" which is the name of the System installed. It is enabled and set to default ( green tick)
In the Playback tab check this projector, click right and choose Properties.
Now the second tab Level should contain the option to change the volume level.
    Its worth a check.

  • Low power error when W530 connects to dock station 433815U

    Hi,
Just got W530 2447 and dock station 433815U. From Lenovo website, 433815U should support W530. I got error message said power voltage is lower than laptop needs when I connect W530 to 433815U with dock station adaptor(90W).  Any BIOS configuration or drive I need to configure or install to be able to 433815U?
One thing I also wanted to mention is I tried combination W530, 433815U with W530 adaptor(170W), it works.
    Thanks

you mean you are getting error when using the 90 watts adapter with the dock? If that is the case, there is nothing you can do, other than to use the 135 watts or 170 watts adapter.
Otherwise, you have a modified power cable, which is not a Lenovo recommended accessories.
