X1 Carbon Touch: Blue screen or error messages after wake up from sleep/hibernate mode

Sleep function is not consistent... While it works most of the time; yet the other times are frustrating when the result is reboot, reboot with blue screen or hang!

Hey @mambu ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're having issues with screen brightness and blank screens since updating your dv6 notebook to Windows 8.1.
Looking at the available drivers for your notebook you will find there are no drivers for Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 for this notebook. This will drastically affect how the graphics card (GPU) functions in this Windows environment.
Your notebook has a feature called switchable graphics. In order for switchable graphics to function properly you must use drivers provided by HP directly for the graphics cards to work properly. Since HP didn't release drivers for Windows 8 or 8.1 for the GPU setup on your notebook the brightness functions may not work and you may notice issues with the display. It would make sense that this issue is present after sleep or hibernation because the drivers need to be initialized and are encountering errors because they are not the correct drivers, or are generic Microsoft drivers and cannot communicate properly..
The only professional suggestion I can make is that you reinstall an operating system that your notebook hardware has available drivers for. Windows 7. Sorry for the bad news.
Thanks!

  • Blue screen fatal error messages - laptop always crashes and now won't even let me restore

My dv6920ea laptop has developed a fault and keeps crashing with blue screen errors, such as "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". The problem has become so bad that it happens everytime I turn the laptop on. The laptop ran "Windows memory diagnostic tool" which said that there was a hardware fault. I've tried running a full system recovery to factory setting but sometimes the laptop crashes, and when it doesn't it asks me to insert a windows disc, but my laptop didn't come with one. The laptop is a year and a half old. What can I do to fix this issue? I don't mind completely recovering the laptop to factory settings and I have most(!) of my files backed up.

    Hello djbless,
You’re getting blue screens with error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
Run diagnostics to make sure that you are not having a problem with any of the hardware.
    Turn off the computer.
As you power it back on tap the F2 key. This will load hardware diagnostics.
    Run the startup test.
Go to HP.com and update the drivers, there is a button that says Let HP scan your system for out-of-date and missing drivers and software
Here is a link to the updates.
Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!
Let me know how everything goes.
    Have a good day.

  • I keep getting blue screen and error message to remove this file from system. spooldr.sys

HP Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - G510n    w/operating system     Windows XP Professional
I installed the printer in February and the disk did not finalize the setup process.  I went online and
down loaded the drivers and software that was offered from the HP website.
The printer works, but as the months have gone along, I keep getting updates for the printer and
the system needs to reboot and it does automatically.
Now I am getting a blue screen with a critical dump error message.  HP error reporting keeps sending
the same message back to restore to earlier date before the updates.  That worked for awhile.  Now
HP Error system says that malware has corrupted and needs to remove system file     spooldr.sys
Is this in your driver software.  Spooldr is the system that caches pages of data for printing in chronological
    order....
Can I uninstall my software and drivers and change to the plain & simple, print and scan to prevent the
spool driver from loading to my system?

Thank you for your input.  But, It is amazing that you can tell me that I was infected with  rootkit.
Without information as to how to fix, your information is after the fact and useless.
I used the Safety Scanner provided to me by HP.  A full scan didn't detect any Malware in any files on my system.  But the last screen dump provided the information that   spooldr.sys  was corrupted and  needed
    to be removed.
Coming into HP Form, I did read on the HP website that my system Windows XP Professional was not listed
and noted that the software may have not been just what I needed.  This was the reason for the question
about uninstalling and reinstalling less of the program.  I really don't need my printer to print backward and
that is all I see that it is doing that other printers don't.
Besides, Kudos goes to the person from HP who sent the email,  suggesting I used the HP Update software and drives recommended  for my computer system.  Computer, printer is working, back to normal and hasn't taken a dump since, I uploaded  software and drives for Windows XP Professional.

  • Blue Screen + Spotlight error message... I can't reboot!

    Hi All,
Upon startup, iMac with 2+GB RAM running OS X 10.5.6 does the following:
    1. Normal startup chime
    2. Blue screen appears
    3. Spotlight error message "Spotlight quit unexpectedly"
I can't reboot, or boot in Safe Mode or launch Disk Utility from DVD and obviously I can't reinstall Leopard
    I'm really frustrated

If you're really holding down those keys immediately after pressing the power button, yet they don't behave as expected, you may have some sort of hardware problem.
Do you have access to another keyboard that you could try?
How is that keyboard connected to your iMac? Your iMac probably has three USB ports. I'd try the keyboard in each of them in turn.

  • Touchsmart PC 300-1120 Blue screen and error messages

My computer turns on and I can access the internet however it will all of sudden kick me off the internet and a blue screen appears that says:  Kernel_data-Inpage-Error and then advises me to remove any new hardware or software.  When I hit enter it goes to a black screen and another message comes up that says Reboot and Select proper boot device but when you hit enter it just repeats and you cannot get out.  Won't even allow me to ctrl-alt-delete to shut down.  Only thing I can do is pull the plug.
Anybody know what sort of error these could be and what can be wrong?  The only new software is Adobe Reader update and looks like Microsoft updates recently.

    Hello Sydberry,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I have read your post on how your computer enters into a blue screen event, and I would be happy to assist you! To begin, I will need to ask you a few questions:
What is the Product and Model Number of your desktop computer?
What version of Windows do you have installed on your computer?
Has your computer completed all of its important Windows Updates?
Have you updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant?
Is this an on-going, or recent issue?
Is your anti-virus software up to date?
Is the BIOS on your computer up to date?
In the meantime, I recommend following this document on BSOD Kernel Data Inpage Error. This should help identify the root of the blue screen event in relation to kernel error.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

  • Blank screen w/error message after updates

Toshiba U305-s2812 laptop was performing fine, loaded updates and things went downhill. Decided to restore to a previous date. The restore function initiated as normal, seemed to take along time to restore files so I walked away. Upon returning screen was blank with message (0xc0000135 logon.scr- application err. failed to initalize). Everything seems to load, but screen goes blank when it should go to the logon screen. After it sits for approx. 20 mins....error message appears (0xc0000135 logon.scr- application err. failed to initalize). Also, performs the same if I attempt to boot to safemode. Pointer appears and responds to mouse movement, but there is nothing on screen to point to. Any suggestions?

    Satellite U305-S2812
0xc0000135 logon.scr- application err. failed to initalize
Logon.scr is that funny small drifting picture that Vista starts out with. It's in the Windows\System32 folder.
You can try going into the Recovery Environment and replacing the file. I can supply a copy of the file
Can you reach the Advanced Boot Options menu? Turn the computer on and immediately press and hold the F8 key. On the Advanced Boot Options menu, choose Repair Your Computer.
If you can't reach the RE this way, I can tell you how to get there another way, but you'd need to jump through some hoops.
It would be easier all around to restore the hard disk to its original state using Toshiba recovery media.
How would you like to proceed?

  • Error message after transfering CS4 from my old computer

I am trying to transfer my CS4 suite onto my new macbook pro from my old macbook pro.  I transfered all of my files from the old to the new but when I try to open a file in the applications I am getting this error message:
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Client/4.0.0/VersionCue.framework
Also, my cs4 installation disc does not work. When I double click the setup button, the icon bounces and then disappears. Is there a way I can download the program and reinstall the suite using my serial number rather than using the disc? The first time I installed the program, I had the same problem with my purchased DVD's.

I think you have used Time Machine to backup and move your data from old machine to new one. If so, your CS4 has gone corrupt and you might face such issues. You need to uninstall this existing installation of CS4 and then re-install CS4 again.
< Uninstall CS4 using its uninstaller from Utilities->Adobe Installers Folder
< Download and install the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and remove the reminents of Creative Suite applications.
    < Empty the Temp folder(Go->Go To Folder->/tmp)
    < Empty the Trash.
< Reboot the machine and install CS5.5
< Download Master Collection CS4 using the below link but make sure first you read the download instructions properly. http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
    < Install CS4 and check.
    Hope that Helps!

  • Screen remains blacks even after waking up from Sleep mode

    Hi,
I've had my Macbook Pro for over a year now and it hasn't given me any problems until recently. The screen would remain black when I open up the laptop to wake it up from sleep mode. There would be no response even when I press random keys. When I close the laptop again, the white light at the bottom right corner lights on (when it's supposed to "breathe" while sleeping). The light goes out when I open up the laptop. The only thing I could do is to restart the computer.
What is the problem? Are there any ways to rectify this?

I am going to add my problem to this as I believe it fits and may add to the conversation.
I have a MacBook Pro, am using Parallels, and have an issue waking it up from sleep.
    Circumstances:
I close the lid and walk away from the device in my office. When I return, (over night or an hour later) I open the lid, and if nothing happens swipe the touchpad or press a key, the power light changes from pulsating to steady. then in less than 15 seconds it goes back to pusating. The display never energizes, only remain black.
I usually try opening and closing several times, and occaisionally that will work. Other times, I hold the power key until I hear the drive halt, then turn it on. The grey screen will display, then blue, then just before it gets to the log in, the screen goes black (not energized) and the light pulsates.
I have tried the PRAM reset and Safe Mode starts with no luck.
*Now the really wierd thing.* I decieded to contact Apple support on line and pay for help (yes that is weird in an of itself for me). As I began the process it came to the part for me to enter my serial number. With the lid open, I turned the MacBook on its side to try to read the number and the screen energized and the password unlock prompt was waiting for me to enter the password.
    Observations
I had read where the light sensor could be blocked by dirt or the light in the room was too dim, but I clean the screen and there is plenty of light. Dales Post is the first that I have seen Parallels and the Sudden Motion Sensor. That makes some sense to me because of what happened when I turned it on its side. I have verified that it happens regardless of using Parallels. as teh last time I did it I had closed out of all my VMs and I believe exited Parallels.
I am going to try the deleting the power preferences file and will report back.

  • Touch screen no longer works after waking up from sleep

3 out of 4 times when my computer goes to sleep my touch screen will no longer work when it wakes up. I have to restart the computer to get it to recognize the pen. Is there an easier way of refreshing the system so that it will recognize the pen? Is this an operating system issue, I have vista currently.

Any resolution on this issue. Please advise as I am having the same problem when upgrading from Windows 7 to 8 on my X230T (3434cto)

  • HT201177 My Macbook pro: After sleeping, the screen comes on momentarily then blacks out.  When I close the lid and reopen it the same thing happens.  The screen only does this after waking up from sleeping.  Help, thanks!

    Macbook Pro:
When I raise the lid after sleeping, the screen comes on momentarily then backs out.  If I close the lid and raise it again, the same thing happens.  It is sometimes necessary to force quit.  Once restarted, there is no problem unless the lid is closed for a short time and the machinge goes to sleep.

    Hi ...
Try Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

  • Screen problem after wake up from sleep

About three weeks ago I posted a problem with the display coming back to life after waking up from sleep. I said this happened after the 10.5.2 update. This turned out to be not quite accurate. I actually ran all the waiting updates, so I really don't know which one to finger.
Today, I again ran the 10.5.2 update by itself. Everything is fine. Software Update then identified seven more updates to do, some familiar, some not. I have done all except one, one at a time, and have had no problems with the display coming on after the computer wakes up.
One more to go: Leopard Graphics Update. This is v1.0 for this update, and here is my question:
Before I run this update, and face another possible day-long re-install and re-update session, has anyone experienced the problem with the display remaining dark after running this update? I hate to do the update just to see if it causes the problem if there is some information kicking around about this.
Many thanks again for any help or comment.
    Jim

    Hi rohitgu,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I would suggest using the following article for troubleshooting the display flickering on your iMac. I would specifically Reset the system and Reset the resolution. I know you have done some good troubleshooting already. Have you reset the SMC as well as the PRAM? I also see that you checked the resolution on your computer, but have you started in Safe Mode and adjusted the resolution? Please use the following article as a reference.
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1573
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
    I hope this helps,
    -Joe

  • Blue screen with error code and I have no recovery disks for HP Pavilion dv6-1260se

I do not have recovery disks for this computer.  I tried to order them but them seem to not be available.  This is my daughter's computer.  She says she started to have trouble after downloading Frost Wire (music share) and then she removed it.  We tried going back to an earlier time and that didn't help and then the blue screen with error message appeared. What do I do now?

    Hi,
Assuming your in the US, recovery discs are available to order for that model here.  That may be the best option.
You should also be able to do a recovery without the discs as well.  Take a look at this document: Recover Windows Vista Operating System Using HP Recovery, and look for the section Restore the PC to its original condition with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible.  This should allow you to recover the PC.
