X1 Carbon TrackPoint left-key smudge, Help clean

I got a slightly used X1 Carbon 34XX version (2013 model) recenetly.
I have been using t430 for quite a long time now but now when I'm on X1 carbon I notice that the Left-key with the trackpoint is not registering properly..when I click on the area close to the scroll key, which is naturally where my finger presses, The key goes down to its seat but it misses registry and often creates problems when I drag items. I have to push it down with an extra force to make sure the key wont miss.
The same key works very responsive when I click on the other end (left end) of the key. But near the scroll key it feels as if something underneath the key has shifted or something...I tried tapping it, hitting it, pulling it upwards and pressing it hard but none of that helped.
I was wondering if anyone could provide me help on how to remove this key and clean whats underneath and fix it. I know how to remove the keyboard but not sure how to get to this key.

been days that i try to solve my Fn Key problem and also the arrow left and arrow up keys < i was using Win8 and downgraded to Win7 last week and that problem has occured since ,it misbehaves and it only works for a short amount of time it randomly works those keys FN.arrow up/left keys randomly they work , i upgraded again to Win8.1 now for the first few boots evrything worked well fn key and arrow keys np.< and now again it stops working.. and btw. whenever i press hard against it it would work pressing down the fn and arrow left/up keys when i press really hard it works but then again it doesnt Soo end of the story its not functioning properly and i have Energy management and Display driver HD 3000 installed and i still got this problem .. is there any fix to this anyone please !?

Hey mate the keys are faulty nothing can fix it except for buying a new Replacement! , i fixed the problem simply by Replacing the KEYBOARD ! i went downtown and looked for a g580 keyboard and they didnt exactly have the same version g580 they had c or b580 i dont remmber what letter it was sorry ! but the thing is the whole keyboard layout of many Lenovo Laptops are the same just look one thats the same, cause mine wasnt for G580 but the thing is its still working perfectly ! only problem is the Screws didnt fit i had to cut out the sides of the screw hole thingies to make the keyboard fit in well in my G580 , Simply put all you need is a new keyboard replacement buy one they cost between 20-40$ worth it cause you wont have any faulty keys anymore evrything will work fine. no need to reinstall anything just replace it with new Keyboard. and Plus its easy to replace it by yourself. i replaced mine by myself easily. Problem fixed.

Just to clarify, are you referring to Alt Space bar left click and drag for zoom? If yes, then that needs 'Use GPU' enabled in Preferences > Performance. So can you check that? It actually works with either Ctrl or Alt together with the space bar. Left mouse click and drag left and right to zoom in and out.
If GPU is checked, can you try some different settings?

You should also make sure the video card driver is fully up to date, and from the card maker's web site.

Ultra nav mouse left key moves incorrectly

Ultra nav mouse left key moves incorrectly or it may be broken. It is still in place however the left key rocks to the left and sticks, causes erratic reactions. Can this be fixed? I have lifted the right edge of the key up, cleaned, and adjusted the wire placement to no avail.

What I suspect is happening here is an error with relative positioning, ie. when I move the right thumbstick left it's setting the cursor to an extremely low value, say -100,000 and therefore when I move it right because the minimum value is supposed to be -32768 it has to surpass that value before actually visibly moving right.
Does anybody know how I could track the actual x,y co-ordinates of the cursor to establish if this is happening?
Edit: enabled log statements in xboxdrv config. My theory has proved incorrect. I'm stumped.

In the Oracle 8.0 documentation when deferred constraints were introduced Oracle stated that defering testing the PK constraint until commit time was more efficient than testing each constraint at the time of insert.
I have never tested this assertion.
In order to create a deferred PK constraint the index used to support the PK must be created as non-unique.

Help cleaning up a script to search in Finder with Spotlight?

I don't know much AppleScript at all, but managed to cobble together a script (invoked with Alfred) that opens a Finder window, sets the size, view options etc. and searches for Photoshop documents with the term passed from Alfred.
As it's cobbled together I'm guessing there are much cleaner, efficient, and more elegant ways of doing this. Any help cleaning it up would be greatly appreciated. Here's the script:

Mainly just grouping the separate cobbles together, although there is a shortcut that gets rid of all that System Events stuff for the find parameter. Note that in Mavericks the icon view won't immediately update - changes will be applied when the window target changes.

Left shift key problem help please

My left shift key is shifting my open page up out of the way and bringing me to my desktop page. My right key works fine. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Well, not sure about you new-fangled Snow Leopard users, but I'd check the Dashboard & Exposé preference pane in System Preferences and see if the Desktop shortcut is "Left Shift" instead of the normal F11.

OS X Leopard installation hangs with about 24 mins left! Please help!

I was prepping my iMac (Intel) for resale, so after backing up my data, I booted up with the Mac OS X Installation Disc (1 of 2). Before proceeding with the installation I went to Disk Utilities and ran a 7-pass erase of my HD. After erasure was complete I started the install and it froze with "About 24 minutes" remaining time in the screen, when I moved the mouse about I got the "spinning beach ball" for a while. Nothing happpens. It has been stuck like that for about 3 hours now.
What are my options? Any help would be most appreciated!

Make sure the install disk is very clean. My iMac is very picky, smudges and scratches are fatal to a good read. Do these resets as well:
As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...

Tea splashed on screen, left stain - how to clean

In the middle of an urgent call from a client, I splashed some tea (cream & sugar) on part of the screen - a few drops fell on a key or two (no I am not minimizing) the tea left a stain on part of the screen - it looks as if it is behind the screen but that could be an issue of transparency and illumination. I am in big trouble as I share this with my sister in law - and frankly I am very distressed. As I said it was a splash not a spill - that is there was not extra liquid dripping. I did not notice it immediately as I was going back and forth between the lap top and other places, picking up papers from the printer, etc, and it was dried - I wiped off some of it effectively but the rest - the surface feels completely clean.
HELP!

The display is some sort of coated plastic, and unfortunately not impervious to stains. I don't know if there are any cleaners that could do anything for you, but it wouldn't hurt to make an appointment at the Apple Store and see if a genius would know of something else to try. You need to be careful not to cause further damage trying to remove the stain. I don't know if there is any type of plastic cleaner that would work, but would check with Apple first.
Sometimes stuff does get under the display during the manufacturing process, but that's not the case here.

Hi all, I am bluetooth trackpoint keyboard owner. Unfortunately, there were some keys broken since I put it in my bag and it was directly stricken by other objects inside (may be my car key or other hard object I don't know). I just wonder if you guys are aware of any place that I can purchase single keys for replacement?
Since I bought the keyboard over Taobao (Chinese ebay) I am afraid there is no warranty for my keyboard... Thanks in advance!

X1 Carbon 2014 Function keys not working in windows7

Hello.
I have a brand new X1 carbon(model: 20A7-005KMD) that was installed with our company image, running windows 7.
Alle drivers in device manager has been installed, and system update is updated.
The carbon has the "touch" function keys and they only partly work.
When booting the computer i can swap between the different functions, but when i get into windows, its is "stuck" with only the options F1-F12. The F keys work, but i cant change settings by pressing the FN key on the left side og the touch display, and get sounds/brightness settings etc.
as said, this works just fine during the boot.
Any ideas what can be causing this and even more important - a fix?

We are currently having the same issue on the X1 Carbon 20A7 models (20A7000LAU). In BIOS or during boot the function changing works without issue (limited to two (2) function screens how-ever), it stops working once you log in. If you then lock the computer you can change the functions, but then once you unlock the device, it stops working.
When the drivers are installed and the device is restart we get the above behaviour, if we uninstall the drivers the function keys will function as expected till the device is restarted. This is very strange behaviour.
On a device received by Lenovo there are 4 function changes/screens in total, we can only make two work temporarily as listed above. We have tried the following.
1. MDT 2013 Delivered Windows 8.1 x64 image image. All drivers/software components installed from the lenovo website. We receive above issue and cannot resolve by uninstall/reinstalling.
2. Vanilla Windows 8.1 ENT x64 image installed from Microsoft Volume Licensing portal, installed all drivers supplied from the Lenovo Website. The same behaviour is seen as above and is reproducable.
3. We have als compared all drivers/software installed on the factory supplied model to a manually built device, still the above behaviour is witnessed.
4. We have manually exported drivers from the X1 Carbon device from lenovo and injected them into the vanilla Windows 8.1 ENT or PRO newly imaged device, still the same behaviour above.
Please let me know what I'm missing, I'm certain this is a bug in the drivers for this model.

CMP with auto-increment primary key.Please help

I got the servlet to load the data from CMP's business mehods
is fine. Calling the findPrimaryKey is OK too. Even when I try to insert the row into DB is OK. At this time I make key PK is int AND NOT
AUTO INCREMENT everything is OK. In the ejbCreate method
I called setPK, setName ...It's fine.
The problem comes when I try to make the PK(still int) to be auto-increment field.In ejbCreate not call setPK because of in SunOne IDE, under the J2EE RI tab of EJB Module property, the Auto generate SQL I set to false so that I can
modify the SQL statement under SQL Deployment.createRow not taking the PK. I thought that will do it but it doesnot like it at all (I got Exception with transaction rollback)I just want to insert a single row with ID and name that's all.
Then I changed the SQL statment take PK and changed the Auto Generate SQL to True and in ejbCreate the PK as one of the args and called setPK this time with null object. It doesn't like neither.(Exception Cannot set the primary key with null. That is reasonable.)
I thought using EJB fast and clean technique would help developer to develop application with easiness.
So I realy stuck with this, I wonder ejb 2.0 support for auto increment at all because I would like to take advantage of the auto increment feature of the DB without writing the PrimaryKeySequence generator at all.
Am I missing something with this? May be just config thing to tell
that my PK is auto-increment field so that when the ejbCreate called it knows not taking the PK or even not asking to call setPK in ejbCreate.
Any help would appreciated.

Can Trackpoint left/right button definition be the same to Touchpad?

I am used to using external mouse with left hand, but using Trackpoint with right hand. However, in the UltraNav utility, when I swap the left/right button for external mouse, the Trackpoint is also affected by this swapping.
What I want is external mouse for Left hand and Trancpoint for right hand. Howeve I can't set that for Trackpoint specifically. Can anybody help me on this?

There is no need for removal of the product . You can simply launch the product , click on Help>Sign out . Close the product and sign in with the new user's Adobe ID & Password. This should activate the product .
