X1 DVR reboots several times a day, locks up

We have had tech's to our house 3 times and we still can't count on being able to watch a show without the system rebooting. We have recorded shows that can't be watched to Poor quality and very pixilated. The Tech says they are working on a fix, we have had the system 3 weeks and not had 1 evening without Reboots and lock ups. Does anyone have any answers? Total tech visit time to date 6-8 hours and still no answers. Why am I paying for this ???

When X1 reboot that means they are fighting with signal quality. It could be a bad box but that is rare.
If the problem is within your house it can be your responsibility. If the problem is outside of your house it is Comcast's responsibility and they need to get a line crew out.90% of the time when X1 boxes freeze, reboot or "pixel" that means they are having incoming signal issues.

I have a Lumia 520 that asks for the SIM PIN several times a day. I noticed in app System Information by Eyjo that when that happens, the operating time is very low. I never witnessed it but I assume it rebooted.
    What can I do? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with my ipad w/ retina display. Updated to 7.0.4 on Thursday or Friday and since last night been experiencing blue screen and random restarts.
Until recently it seemed to be linked only to the 'clash of clans' app, but now it is happening on the App Store too.
I contacted apple this morning, after an unsuccessful attempt at complete restore and set up as new ipad. They advised to restore a pervious back up and delete the clash of clans game. Did this, and now I'm getting problems elsewhere which suggests it isn't a compatibility issue with the OS and game.
Also in the same boat as you as I got it on November 2nd, launch day, and out of warranty by 2 weeks. Hopefully they can sort this either by fixing a bug in the OS or repairing my device as it's served me well with no issues for the past 12 months.

  • Airport Extreeme 5th generation, firmware 7.6.4 crashing several times a day (no interference)

Call me unlucky, but I'm here just for solving AirPort Extreeme... issue. Here is my setup:
    - My IPhone mic stopped working recently, so I decide to use it as wireless survellance cam connected with Airport on 2.4Ghz
    - I also own Retina laptop mid 2012 (with ghosting screen connected to 27" Thunderbold with wierd spots on matrix which appeared 6 month after purchase) and laptop by the way connected on 5Ghz
    - I have some generic 3Tb usb drive connected to AirPort Extreeme...
    - And some generic laptop connected on 2.4Ghz which does pretty much nothing
    - (The only device I never had issue with is IPad 2 but it's not connected)
So, an app on laptop takes a snapshot from camera every 15 seconds and it's 500kb tops, so it goes from IPhone to Extreeme... to Laptop and then from Laptop to Extreeme... connected harddrive. What happens is Extreeme... reboots several times a day and sometimes it hangs after reboot which makes me climb to manualy unplug from power... any suggestions?
P.S. Support is my last bet choosing Apple products in a future, I never asked for it before this is the very first time, Im busy person, but hey for $6000 I spend on Apple products should I expect some quality, reasonable question isn't it?
    Thanks,
    Max.

Unfortunately there are some products that have issues.. but you have had a really bad trot. I think if it was me I would be screaming my head off. Have you rung Apple and got some progress in getting these things looked at. The Thunderbolt display to begin with.. take it to the genius and let them check it.. I am not sure if the phone is out of warranty but apple can be generous at times.. especially if you have $6000 of faulty products.
For your particular problem with the Extreme, I would simply downgrade to 7.6.1 firmware.. the latest firmware does not always work the greatest. And do a factory reset after that. Setup again with all names, short, 2-20 characters, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. I would also lock down as much of the stuff that is on auto as possible. So use a different name for 5ghz.. lock the channels manually. You can try several, 11, 6, 1 at least for 2.4ghz.. and around 40 and around 150 for 5ghz.
Sometimes locking the mode to slower speed, just to see if that helps is worth it.

  • Several times each day my Mac locks up.  Seems to be Safari.  Using Maverick

Can someone explain what to do when several times each day my Mac locks up.  Seems to be Safari.  Using Maverick.

Phil, Why do you think that it is Safari?
Are you running any #3rd party applications as well?
If a proprietary (Apple) application "locks up"... it should not bring down the whole system; rather, one should be able to force quit the application that only appears to be hanging the entire system (press option, command & esc keys for the "Force Quit" application menu).
After a force quit of a proprietary application, it then should open right back up without a reboot. The system should not hang. For example, if Safari does "hang" w/a spinning beachball & you force quit that & then fire it up again -- as opposed to a machine that completely "locks up" as you say... that term is usually reserved for when absolutely everything is frozen which calls for the radical power-button force shutdown.

First to find the STOP code that is rebooting the system, i need you to reboot your system and tap F8 repeatedly before the Windows XP splash screen. And select "Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure", then wait for your system to randomly reboot and report back here with the STOP Code.

  • Updated iPad2 to iOS6. Now it randomly freezes. Have to reboot (home   sleep key for 15 seconds) several times per day. Help!

Help! I guess I can restore it to original factory settings but I am afraid of losing everything. If it helps the iPad is NOT jailbroken. Any ideas or do I have to wait for a future update?

Just to clarify. Once I am done with the iPad and push the sleep button (upper right corner) or just let it sleep from inactivity for a couple minutes, the issue happens when I try to wake it up. I can see the unlock screen with the pin pad but the iPad becomes unresponsive and I cannot enter the numbers or I can enter the numbers but it freezes right after that while the pin pad is still visible. The only thing that fixes it is to hold the home and sleep button for 10-15 seconds and wait a minute for the whole thing to reboot. At that point it usually works. Still, what I liked about the iPad was the convenience of being immediately ready and now I have to reboot many times per day.
I have an iPad2 with the latest update (6.01) and it is not jail broken. Apple help me please!

  • WRT120N drops connection several times a day

I have a WRT120N router & I have to hard reboot it (I think that's what it's called when you have to unplug the **bleep** thing) several times a day as it drops the signal to all devices. Is there any fix to this? It has something to do with turning on or re-introducing certain wireless devices into the area. When I come home with my iPhone & my wife is on her computer, suddenly the wifi stops. And vice-versa. It's ridiculous. I'm not a computer programmer but if I was I'm pretty sure this would be a no-brainer to fix. Especially if the company that paid me took pride in their products.
If there is no fix, I will go to a competitor for my next purchase.
    thanks for any help.

    @ sabretooth
I've looked through the forums but it's kind of a needle in a haystack scenario. I've searched 'WRT120N connection drop', 'WRT120N wifi issues' & all sorts of stuff.
Again, needle in a haystack. It may very well be one of those things that's looking me right in the eye, but if I don't happen to word it correctly I'll never get to it.
The problem should not be with a customer's lack of investigative skills but the manufacturer making shoddy equipment in the first place. If there was any such thing as accountability anymore, or even just the basic concept of customer service this wouldn't be an issue. Companies that actually care will do their best to resolve customer's issues.Sadly, this concept has become a rarity.
In looking for a solution to my problem I'm reminded of a Douglas Adams quote that ends with "...in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'."
    but I digress.

  • Razr turns self off several times a day.

I have a Droid Razr. It has been fine for about a year, but just recently it began shutting itself off several times a day. Girl at Verizon says I have to leave it with them for them to see it happen. My profession demands I have a phone on me throughout day. Any thoughts on what causes this? It seems to have started after last major update.

Have you tried a system cache clear?
    Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously until you see the Boot Mode Selection Menu
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
Should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
Press volume up/down simultaneously to go into system recovery *
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select
    * if doesn't work:
press and hold the volume down and wait for a second or two, then press and hold the volume up and the volume down buttons for 5-6 seconds and then release

  • Several times a day my HP Laptop disconnects and reconnects to my WRT600N router.

    I’ve installed a new WRT600N.  (Firmware Version: 1.01.35 build 5_20080115).
My install was a “Linksys EasyLink Advisor” guided and is generic.  SPI Firewall Protection is enabled.  Security Mode is enabled for WPA-Personal.
The laptop I use with router is an HP/Compaq 6710b (also new), running XP Pro.  The built-in WiFi adapter is a “G” type (Intel PRO/Wireless 394ABG) with “Windows Wireless Network Connection” enabled.
Presently I don’t use the “N” capability of the router.  However, I plan buy a 2nd laptop with an “N” WiFi adapter soon.
The router works well…most of the time. Signal strength is “Very Good”.  However, several times a day my HP Laptop disconnects and reconnects to the router.
Each time this happens I get a “Linksys EasyLink Advisor” prompt stating “Network Problem!...the connection to the router is not working”.
After experimentation I realize that most often the connection will restore by itself…or worst case; I can re-detect and restore the connection using either the “Linksys EasyLink Advisor”  wizard OR the “Windows Wireless Network Connection” wizard.
Besides losing the connection, the most annoying part of this is that after the connection is restored and the “Linksys EasyLink Advisor” wizard message remain indicating: “Network Problem!...the connection to the router is not working”.
    Suggestions?

There are many causes for poor wireless connections, and many solutions:
First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. If your current network is not listed, enter its info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card.
Some users have reported improved wireless performance by switching from WEP to WPA encryption.
If you continue to have problems, try the following:
For wireless n routers, try setting the "n Transmission Rate" to 162 Mbps, and the (wireless g) "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps.
If you still have trouble, download and install the latest firmware for your router. After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
    Hope this helps.

  • I've asked before and got the answer to do a power down by holding both buttons. My phone is crashing several times a day. Any ideas what to do to fix it.

I've rebooted it by holding both buttons and now I have to do that several times a day to get my phone to perform. Wondering what glitch is causing this? Is there an upgrade coming or is my almost new phone a dud?

    One of these should help:
Right-click on iPhone name and select "Restore from backup", which does not erase any data other than re-load your last backup, or
Select Restore, which will erase your iPhone and re-load the OS.  At the end you can re-load your last backup to save you from having to re-do all the settings and preferences, and you don't lose app data, texts, camera roll, etc.
As above, Restore but don't load your last backup.  This will erase everything and you'll set it up as a new iPhone, which means re-doing all your settings and preferences, and losing app data, contacts*, etc.
*Contacts can be restored if you're using Exchange, or if your computer contacts are up to date, or if you use a 3rd party app to extract your contacts from your iPhonebefore you Restore.
Only do the last one if the others don't help.

  • Reboots several times

My Sprint 8350 reboots several times during the day either while listening to MP3 files or just sitting on my desk.  This is the second one I have that is doing the same thing.  Sprint first told me that I needed to clear the log file using Alt LGLG and deleting the file.  Next I was told to update the OS which I did.  Lastly, they told me to clear the emails I receive and that should fix the problem.  Now with my second phone it is doing all of the same thing.  Very frustrating.  Any one no of a solution?
