X1 - release date? display option 1366 x 768

News of the X1 is popping up in several places... and it looks interesting, but may miss the target.
Question - when will it be availabe in North America?
Display comments
- The display is a CRITICAL component for many buyers
- 1366 x 768 is pathetic. I expect at least 900 pixels of vertical resolution
- IPS > Gorilla Glass (iPad, T42, etc)
- I prefer matte > glossy (luckily thinkpads are usually matte)
- 300 nits (so I can work outside)
I am not alone. Many are shopping for an ultraportable with a quality high resolution display (1440x900 or 1920x1080).

Hello, and thank you in advance for any help. As I've researched the Lenovo ThinkPad T430, and it's various configuration options, I've found specific information on the differences between the HD (1366 x 768) display and the HD+ (1600 x 900) display to be rather lacking. Everything I've read boils down to "go with the HD+ if possible" but I was hoping for more information. I'd be using the laptop for reading documents and web pages, as well as viewing movies, so I was wondering if more knowledgeable people than I would pipe in with their opinions, especially when it comes to watching movies on the laptop (in a dark room with the laptop at the foot of the bed and using headphones). I bought my t530i with the HD (1366x768) display. I am absolutely disappointed in it. The viewing angle is horrible, the colors are whitey, pallid, the black color is not black, it is rather dark gray, because the backlight is so strong. I would like to sell it, because it is useless for me, but nobody wants it. I don't know if this applies to the 430 series, so I suggest You to check it out personally, before You buy it.

Sort by Release Date option?

I don't know why an option to sort by "release date" is absent from iTunes. It seems like an obvious way to layout/view music. There isn't even an option to enter the "Release Date"(only "Year") on music files.
I use the pattern "Year/Month/Date - Album Name" with in the "Album Sort Order" field to help iTunes sort my Albums by release date. But, within the "Grid View", it doesn't seem to be possible to sort by "album"(which would use the "sort album" field) to see all the albums by release date.
It just seems like such a basic thing to be added to such a music application.
It seem like there are a lot of these "little" details which iTunes never seems to add. For example: the ability for iTunes to read and write multiple Genres(& subgenre) entries with in a MP3 IDtag.
I just don't understand how the devs can neglect such options, which would be valuable for anyone who likes to keep there music properly labelled.
I wish they would forget silly ideas like PING, and concentrate on trying to make iTunes a deep music browser and management tool, like it should be.
That's the end of my rant.

I was talking about "Grid View". I cannot sort my albums by release date within "Grid View".
But yes, you are correct. Although, in my experience, the issue with using the "Release Date" field is that iTunes seems unable to read some dates correctly.
For example; I have Bob Dylans album "Times They Are A Changin'", and if I enter the release date(using a 3rd party program because you can't edit the "ReleaseTime" field in iTunes), using the correct format, "1964-01-13" iTunes displays this as "Thu 01/01/70". I know this is the correct format because I can enter a newer date and it will display correctly.
So it seems iTunes doesn't recognise anything before that date.

HDTV 1366 x 768 - not a standard option?

I have found dozens of references to this apparently common HDTV resolution, but the mini doesn't provide this as a standard resolution. When will this be added?
Steve opened the flood gates to people hooking these mini's up to HDTVs at introduction. This would go a long way to making this a reality. DisplayConfigX isn't an option for those of us that are risk adverse.
It's a mess to run with overscan enabled, because the OS X interface is particularly not overscan friendly (too much useful stuff on screen edges). It would be okay if DVD player automatically turned this on in full screen mode. But it's still unfortunate to run an LCD TV in something other than it's native resolution.
Mac Mini (Early 2006) Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I think the settings that are needed may need to be tweaked for each individual display/TV, but I'm not sure. I have a 32" Syntax Olevia. Here are the settings I used:
From the SwitchResX Control Panel, in the Resolutions section, select the "Custom" Tab.
Start a new one (plus button)
Select Custom (not Scaled) at the top.
Select Use simplified Settings: GTF at the bottom.
Fill in the numbers:
- Active: Horizontal=1366, Vertical=768
- Scan Rate: Vertical=60
Hit Tab and some grayed out numbers will change.
Select OK to leave that window.
Select Apply
Most likely you need to restart your computer at this point and upon restart your new resolution should be available to be selected as a valid resolution.

Smart playlist doesn't include "Release Date" as a filter option

Why is "Release Date" not one of the options? I recently upgraded my hard drive and had to re-import all my podcasts, which meant they ALL dropped into the "Date Added is in the last 2 weeks" filter, which meant I couldn't synchronise my iPod! I had to go through and change the settings to be restrictive, but in such a way that I'll have to go back and change them all in another week or so.
If "Release Date" was in the filter options, this would simply not be an issue.

With a solid backup/restore strategy you should never need to reimport anything.
I don't know the details of your playlist, but another way to have dealt with this might simply have been to temporarily uncheck the newly-imported episodes you didn't want going to the iPod.

I'm succesfully using CS5.5 with out any problem despite it also said minimum resolution must be 1280x900. But it didn't give me any error in instalation or usage. I know my lap is not suitable for production. I'm just in the proces learning the software and video editing. So i don't mind scroling big dialog boxes.
I just want to know will CS6 it work or not. have any one tried it in 1366 x 768? In CS5.5 it working fine for me. (Had the same Display requirement though)

Then i will install the trail and see before spending $375

Displaying Release Date from Atom Feed

When using an atom feed with iTunesU, we find that the Release Date field does not show meaningful data. The field contains the value of today in every
instance. I wonder if there is any way to make Release Date show the contents of the <updated/> element, or to otherwise modify the feed to enable use of the Release Date field?

I can attempt to offer just a bit of assistance; however, I don't and haven't used Atom for feeds, so my experience is limited to RSS only.
The Release Date field in the iTunes U Store and iTunes application rely on the pubDate tag in the iTunes xml namespace.

What happened to release date option in book listings

Use to be able to click on recent releases (I use mysteries mostly) and then click on release date which would then list all the recent releases in date order. Why did you stop that?

Can I set resolution to 1366 by 768?
I built recently a HTPC and was trying to connect it to my tv. But I was never able to get TV's native resolution. I only was able to get 1360 by 768, which cuts off menus below.

If this xorg.conf does not work with a VGA cable, it can be fixed by adding to your current xorg.conf the line,

If your xorg.conf is the one from above, it already has this line. Then looking at /var/log/Xorg.0.log for the polarity the monitor expects. It should be something like this:

Then editing the modeline with the polarity. For example, if the polarity the monitor expects is,

You would change this part of the modeline:

Date display bug in Finder, iTunes, menu bar

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, many of the date displays fail to show the actual date and are either blank or only display a time (e.g., 7:32PM, even if it refers to a date in the past).
Here's what it looks like in Finder (these files were NOT added today, i.e. there should be a date other than the present day, but instead it only shows a time): http://tweetphoto.com/5603142

For the grayed out menu portion go to Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist and delete this file, Then, log out and back in.
For the time settings try doing a pram reset try a PRAM reset.
If that's not it try going to Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist and delete this file, Then, log out and back in.

How can i get 1366 x 768 resolution (720p) from t42 laptop?

I'm trying to connect my thinkpad t42 laptop using a vga cable to my samsung lcd tv. my lcd tv has a native resolution of 1366 x 768. However, when i go to display properties in my video setting, i can only select 1024 x 768 for my lcd tv (basically i only get 4:3 resolution options, i dont get any 16:9 resolution options). i've updated all my drivers - dont all windows and thinkvantage updates but absolutely cannot get the output resolution via vga cable to my lcd tv to be 1366 x 768.
Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone had any luck solving this issue?

Did you check Samsung's support web site to see if the provide a device driver (it may be called a monitor profile information file) for your Samsung LCD TV with 1366×768 (720p) resolution? If so, did installing that help?

How do you browse the catalog by release date? I would like to see all the new releases in specific catagories but it seems that feature went away. Or can you browse the whole catalog by release date?

In Oracle Payables Release 10.7 or 11:

Explanation
10.7 이나 11에서 invoice header에서 보여지는 GL date는 db 값이
아니라 display value이다. 즉 조회될때마다 options에 맞추어 계산된
값을 가져온다.
정확한 gl date는 ap_invoice_distributions_all.accounting_date를 참조
하면 된다.
Payables Option에서 GL Date Basis (Setup->Options->Payables, Invoice
region)를 보면 아래와 같이 invoice/system중에 하나로 되어있다.
1) the GL Date Basis field = "Invoice":
Payables는 GL date 를 invoice date로부터 가져온다. 그러나 해당월이
마감된 경우는 열려있는 월의 첫째날로 Setting된다.
2) the GL Date Basis = "System":
Payables는 항상 GL Date를 오늘(sysdate)로 setting 한다.
Example

@harrisb: If it's not broken, don't fix it.
I had frequent IE9 freezes.
MIrcrosoft Action Center assigned the cause to NVIDIA and recommended updating the NVIDIA driver.
I installed Version 310.70 WHQL and so far everything is running smoothly.
