X1000 bug or hardware failure???

Hi, I bought Linksys X1000 2 months ago and faced the following problems since then. I've talked with Linksys support in Thailand. They told me that everyone who bought X1000 also faced these problems and the new firmware will be released soon. Anyway, I have been waiting for 2 months already.
These are the problems of X1000 that ALL Thai users are facing right now
1. Internet connection randomly disconnect and reconnect, no matter how high the SNR is.(about 15-20 times/day) I have tried changing the modulation and MTU but the problem was still there. The only solution now is using Zyxel router instead.
2. The WiFi connection is unstable. The WiFi signal stops broadcasting for no reason and I have to reboot the router in order to activate it again.

We're you able to report this back to Linksys? Based on the reconnect logs, no details between connected and disconnected timestamps. It's not even happening on specific timeframe. Something is happening after successful connections then it will be kicked out by your ISP's PPPoE server. Is this happening if your computer is directly connected to the modem? If your ISP provided you a plain modem before you got this X1000, you may try to manually copy the MAC Address indicated on the modem provided by your ISP then paste it on MAC Address Clone from the X1000's web user interface.
This can be addressed by a simple firmware update but Linksys and your ISP should coordinate with each other first to identify the root cause why it's being kicked. Cloning the MAC address of a known working modem is just my workaround based on your logs. I also don't know who's not following PPPoE standards because this won't be happening if it was followed. Nothing's wrong with your X1000's hardware - same goes with your ISP. It's just that your ISP will kick the connection established from X1000 whenever it would detect some security anomalies or if it won't be able to meet it's authentication requirements.
I don't work for Linksys and I'm not even in Thailand. It just happened that I understand the logs that you've posted because of having a 6 years old Xyzel Telefonica ADSL2+ Router Gateway, an ASUS RT-N53 Dual WAN router and DD-WRT flashed WRT54G v5 router.
If everyone needs to believe in something, I believe I'll have another beer..

Hardware Failure - Really depressed

Just wanted to share my story...
My Apple TV arrived yesterday. After anxiously waiting since they were initially available for ordering, it FINALLY arrived.
After unpacking, setting up etc, I noticed that when I started the unit, it simply displayed an image of the Apple TV and a big white question mark above it. The status light was alternating between white & amber which according to the docs, that indicates a hardware failure.
So I called into Apple support and after a few steps (resetting via holding down menu and down) as well as several power cycles, the same problem remained. The tech explained that this is most likely a harware failure. He also explained to me the boot sequence which I thought was interesting.
The internal disk has 2 partitions setup. 1 with the OS install and 1 with a disk image of the OS to use as a recover option. The Apple TV will make 5 attempts to boot using the standard OS and then attempt to recover using the disk image. If both of these fail to boot the system, the status light will alternate between white and amber.
Long story short is that I am now waiting for Engineering to contact me (Tech told me that since this was a new product, all returns needed to be handled by Engineering) with the logistics of how to return my unit (bought online) as well as get a new unit shipped-out. I am still waiting to hear back and will call them if nothing by noon today to find out the story.
Bottom line is that I am bummed out as I have been waiting for this product for A LONG TIME (even before Apple invented it as I have tried MANY digital media streaming techniques via Windows and they all suck (including XBox 360's pathetic interface and controls).
Has anyone else experienced any hardware issues?

i wouldn't really call this a bug, in all fairness to apple, it is a hardware defect, explicable to shipping / handling (you go inside of a UPS/FEDEX/USPS shipping center and see how they handle your packages).
now, apple does have some bugs, or more appropriately software deisgn issues to deal with, but all in all the prodcuts seems like it is very nice - just currently a bit unduly limited.

Since I ordered my phone online from the apple nz store and New Zealand dosen't have an official apple store, how do I go about making the claim?

Oracle DB offline after server reboot / hardware failure

We have a server that crashed due to hardware failure and although brought back up OK Oracle DB's are no longer mounting. I am not a DBA but it looks bad to me and it seems there are no backups. Can anyone suggest a course of action? This is Oracle 11G XE running on Centos 6. I have put as much detail in as I can and could really do with some advice.

I have copied a backup script below that it turns out has been running every night at midnight. Where does this go, how do I know if it has worked and how can I use it to restore?

Purple Lobster your Creative Suite 4 serial number is for Windows or Mac only. If you were previously using it on Windows then it is likely you have a Windows license. Restore iPhone with current iTunes on computer. See if better. If still problem, make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send to Apple for resolution. Of if easier for you, take receipt and iPhone, box and everything and return to where you bought it.

What is procedure to recover music after ipod hardware failure

My uncle's ipod had a hardware failure and died. Apple genius bar gave him an estimate for repair. But he has not repaired it yet. At that time, his music was still playable within iTunes. Then my uncle's tried to transfer music library to his daughter's PC. I do not know exactly what he did but, itunes produced a file called library.XML containing a list of his music titles along with the file paths to each item. At this point, all his music is not playable on his PC nor his daughers's PC. What was can be done with the Library.xml file? What is the purpose of library.xml. After iTunes generates library.xml, what should be done with it? My uncle wants to recover is music library. What should he do? Please help. Thank you.

IPhone hardware failure in 1 yr 2 months! Can anything be done for replacement?

I had purchased an iPhone 5 in Nov 2012 here in India (Bangalore) for ~ Rs 45,000.
However for the past few months it started crashing mysteriously. For the last few days the frequency of crash increased to 20-30 times a day (from the previous 2-3 times a week). Recently after a crash, it rebooted upto the "Recovery Mode" screen only.
I tried with the latest iTunes to do recovery but it always failed at the _end_ of writing the new software. I even tried the DFU mode, but that too fails right at the end of writing the new software. Sometimes it gave error 12 and sometimes error 9. I've tried different USB cables just to make sure there was no problem there but to no avail!
I then showed it to the Apple service center folks here (service is provided by an Apple authorised service unit - Ample) but they too were unable to fix it. They said it was a "rare" internal hardware failure. They are asking me to cough up Rs 21,000 for a replacement unit!
It's barely 2 months out of the warrannty period when the dam phone crashed. This is real poor quality of service from Apple. Is there anything I can do to get my unit replaced? Is there an escalation I can do to get someone's attention in fixing my issue?

For the first part, that does beg the question whether this is something that is more of a problem with iCloud than it is other providers, for whatever reason.
I'm not a huge fan of anecdotal "evidence" in general, but iCloud mail does seem to have the worst reputation for missing messages when compared to Gmail or even Outlook.com, at least going by a quick search. For other iCloud mail users, does this ever concern you? Any former iCloud users who left for similar reasons?

Hardware Failure - Cannot login to Folio Builder

I was having problems with DPS App Builder - that problem was mysteriously solved.
Yesterday I had a catastrophic hardware failure when my MacBook Pro's screen died. I had to move my harddrive to a new MacBook Pro.
After moving my harddrive, I could no longer login to the Folio Builder Panel in Indesign CS6 (CC subscription). I decided to
deactivate, uninstall InDesign and reinstall, removing preferences, and ensuring that all updates had been applied. I have
done that I am still getting the message:
Sign In has failed. Network failure. Then after I hit OK, I get: Sign Out has failed. Network failure.
I can login to the Digital Publishing Suite Dashboard and the Digital Publishing Folio Producer, but I cannot
login to the Folio Buidler Panel. DPS App Builder continues to work without a problem.
It seems as if these tools are TOO TOUCHY which leads to a lot of wasted time.
What's going on?

Try This:
Quit InDesign and any other CS apps.
Use the Activity Monitor to quit the CS5ServiceManager or CS5.5Service Manager.
Next delete this file based on version: (Back up the file just in case.)
Note:
For example:
/Users/"your user name"/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/preference/csxs2.pref
/Users/"your user name"/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5.5ServiceManager/preference/csxs2.pref
Then remove this item from the Keychain Access based on version: Adobe CS5 renga or Adobe CS5.5 renga.
To remove from the keychain, navigate to: /Applications/Utilities and launch the Keychain Access.app
If the lock icon in the upper left appears locked, click it and enter your password to unlock it.
Select the “login” item in the Keychains list in the upper left.
Select “Passwords” from the category list.
Type “renga” in the search field in the upper right.
Lastly, select any matches and press the Delete key.

Directory cannot be rebuilt due to Disk hardware failure (-36, 2286 )

Hello everybody,
my macbook was running slower and slower until it became unusable.
I have restarted the macbook with system DVD and run harddisk utilities from the DVD :
- First diagnostic : directory damaged, error on knot, cannot be repaired by this program.
I tried to put the disk in target mode but it was impossible to mount it on the desk.
-Then I tried with DiskWarrior utilities and got the message : Directory cannot be rebuilt due to Disk hardware failure (-36, 2286 )
Does anybody knows what it means ?
If disk has to be changed what brand would be the best suited.
Any advice on this issue will be more than welcome

I am going to replace the disk but all the work of the last four days will be lost, kinf of hard to swallow on a machine bought a little more than a year ago !

SMART Diagnostics Report Hardware Failure

Hello all. I'm the owner of a Powermac G5 tower, which has been recently acting up and pausing. Yesterday, out of the blue Techtool Pro told me that my system drive had reported a hardware failure. I immediately turned the computer off and booted up from my installation disk. (10.4) Sure enough, the drive is reporting a "fatal hardware failure" and suggesting I back up as much of my data as I can. At the moment, I am unable to find my Techtool DVD so I can't really give much more information.
It looks like my only option is to boot from the drive and use Carbon Copy Cloner to back it up onto my external.
Just in case this could have something to do with it, my 500gb Seagate Freeagent drive that I usually backed up my HD onto failed a few weeks ago. Therefore, I only recently was able to get a new external, and therefore I have NO other backups of the disk available.
Also, two years ago a hard drive in the same machine failed completely. I don't know if these three failures are related. (I really doubt the Freeagent failing has anything to do with it.) But my current HD that failed could very well have failed for the same reason that the one two years ago did. I've been thinking about buying a new HD but I don't want this one to fail in a year as well. It is probably smart to note that both HDs that failed had the exact same symptoms, except for the fact that the first just slowly died... it never reported a hardware failure.
I'd like some advice on the best course of action. Should I just try to back up using CCC onto my other external and then buy a new internal HD? Or is there a better way to back up the data.

Sounds like you have had some bad luck.
Except for the FreeAgent, the other drives should be chalked up to that.
With the FreeAgent, well, that should be chalked up to "expected sooner or later"....
Best course of action is to get your data as fast as is possible.
User files are the most important, as OS and applications may be reinstalled.
The fewer total files that you pull, the better your chances are with a failing drive.
Use whatever method that you have at hand.
Not sure if a cloning operation will work with a failing drive.
In the end, if it doesn't work, use Data Rescue (II or III).

i had my N73 for 2 yeras when i take out the memory card the camera works fine but when inserting the 1gb card both the cameras dont work saying hardware failure restart camera pls help.

If you have an access to other compatible Memory Card (..from Friend / Family member..) try with that and see if the same problem is present..
