X100e keyboard/mouse issues

Hi Folks,
I've been having trouble with my recently purchased x100e (running Windows 7), and I'm hoping that someone may be able to help me out. I've been looking through the forums and on the web for solutions, but no luck.
Starting a few days ago, I notice that whenever I press a button on the keyboard, a dialog box pops up to ask me if I want to display the Trackpoint Guide. This prevents me from typing anything longer than one keystroke, because the dialog box just comes back when I hit the next key regardless of pressing "Yes" or "No." Additionally, whenever I press a key, the cursor changes from the standard pointer to the scroll icon that would display if I was pressing the middle mouse/scroll button above the trackpad. Furthermore, the middle mouse/scroll button above the trackpad no longer works when pressed.
I have noticed that it is possible to disable the Trackpoint dialog box from coming up by clicking the "do not display this message" option, but the cursor issue persists no matter what. The laptop is hardly a month old. I use antivirus, anti-spyware, etc. I have tried updating the mouse/trackpoint driver and also rolling it back to the originally installed driver, but neither step seems to resolve the issue. I thought that perhaps I had inadvertently changed some of the mouse settings, so I did a factory reset on the machine. Unfortunately, that didn't solve the issue either. I did an extra factory reset just to make sure. I've run anti-virus and anti-malware scans to see if anything would show up, but nothing does. This one really has me perplexed. If there's anyone out there who could offer any advice, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Hi onlylive2x,
Welcome to Lenovo Forums.
Could you try doing a factory reset without installing any antivirus or antispyware and see if there are any keyboard/mouse issues? This could be some software which is causing a conflict with the mouse drivers.

  • Late 2013 13" MBPr unresponsive (not keyboard/mouse issue)

    Hi all,
    I am running a 2013 13"MBPr with 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM and 2.8i7.
I have updated the firmware to fix the keyboard/mouse issue.
My problem is the computer hanging or unresposive when using other programs.
I thought this was a problem with Chrome which I use for browsing as I had a simialr issue with my 2010 MBP 15".
But yesterday it hung in Mail.
    Apple Diagnostics was fine.
I have tried uninstall and reinstall of Chrome. I run a few extensions but have reduced these as much as possible. Only use Adblocker, 1password, Papers and Quidco apps.
I will try to reinstall mavericks and see how it goes. Hopefully I get some luck.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks

    Thanks Clinton,
Well It came with mavericks and I will reinstall tonight to see if it helps.
Called apple today and they suggested a reinstall.
In the mean time I have put a refund order thorugh for this computer and reorded it. So I guess this will rule out hardware issues. The only issue is the same spec computer is only expecting delviery between 9th to 16th December!!!
So may be without a computer for a while.
Happy to read that you suggest only perfection as this is what I expect.
    Cheers

  • X201 Ultrabase Keyboard / Mouse Issues

    Hello,
I have recently deployed 3 identical X201 systems with the Ultrabase to some of my users, they are imaged systems and should all work virtually the same but one is having an odd quirk.  If he turns the system on while it is docked, the external mouse & keyboard he has connected to the Ultrabase do not respond unless he first opens the laptop and uses the normal keyboard / touchpad.  I can't see any reason for this to be happening but I am hoping someone has come across this before, hopefully it is not an issue with the dock itself.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Second, Restart your computer while inserting your install disk #1, and holding down the "D" key. Run the Apple Hardware Test.
If no errors show up. Restart with the CD in and hold down the "C" key. When the installation prompt starts and the Toolbar shows up on the top of your window, click I think on Tools-Disk Utility, and Reapir Permissions, on your disk. Highlight Macintosh HD on the left, and Repair Permssions below.
Lastly, if all else fails, call Apple Care.

  • Bootcamp Keyboard/Mouse Mapping Issues

    Hi Apple Community,
I am using a Macbook Air running Bootcamp for Windows 7.  I am running into a few keyboard/mouse issues that I am hoping to find a solution to with the main one in the title.  Could some please help me to understand how I can perform the following actions in Windows on a MacbookAir when running Bootcamp:
    1.  "Ctrl-Shift-Z" does not work?
    2.  "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" does not work?
    3.  Is there a way to reverse the mouse direction so that it operates like the MAC OS?
    4.  Is there a way to turn down the sensitivity of the Mouse for the "Touch Click" feature?
    Thank you for the help!

I run the same system (MBA with Win7), except that I wiped my mac partition out entirely.
2)Ctrl-Alt-Delete works fine on my machine. I can't imagine  why that wouldn't be working. Have you checked the User Accounts control  panel to see if it's disabled somehow? Does Ctrl-Shift-Esc still bring  up the task manager?
3)Have you tried using the "Mouse" control panel regarding number 3, which lets you reverse the mouse buttons? Assuming that's what you meant by reversing directions.
4)Regarding number 4, I would say that if it's too sensitive, your best bet is to just turn it off in the "Boot Camp" control panel. I don't think there's a way to adjust the sensitivity.
I think I have been of very limited help. I hope some other people jump in on this one.

  • Radius L10W-B keyboard and mouse issues

Hello, I have just purchased a Toshiba Satelite Radius L10W-B notebook less then a day ago, and am exeriancing SERIOUS keyboard and mouse issues, Juts after purchasinng this notebook, after converting it to tablet mode and back to notebok mode, the keyboard and mouse was NON existant for over 4 hours, DID NOT WORK AT ALL. I took it back to the reseller and ofcourse as soon as I tried to show the issue, all worked fine. Now, I have massive latency issues with both keyboard and mouse. The keyboard misses key strokes in almost every 8 keys. I get 1 missed keystroke in every 8 keys pressed when typing, and these are not typos, just absolutely nothing, thyre absolute misses all togeather. This make for alot of retyping and backspacing etc etc. also, the mouse is disabled for about 3 seconds after tying, then snaps back into action. This means when typing and switching to the mouse reasonably fast, the mouse is non responsive for about 1 second which is fairly irretating. This email took over 20 minutes to write, for this exact reason. Im sure this is not normal. I really love this notebook in every other aspect, however these issues just make it plain ususuable. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Peter,
thanks for the reply. However im convinced this is hardware related! While I really hope not, Ive tried all solutions posted by others.
It simply seems the keyboard is poor quality and the rest of the laptop is awesome!
I really hope im wrong! But its my gut feeling
Ill try give them a call but not holding my breath.

  • Windows 7 64-bit with Boot Camp 5: keyboard & mouse don't work

Running OS-X 10.8.5 on iMac 27 Late 2013. Everything goes smoothly installing Windows 7 64-bit with Boot Camp 5.0.4 until Windows does its final reboot (after a complete, apparently successful install), and begins the Windows setup sequence. The first setup screen asks for User name and PC name. My mouse and keyboard do not work at this point. Tried cold rebooting: Windows boots up, detects it needs to do first use setup, and gets to same failure point.
NOTE: I have never had a chance to install the Windows support drivers; but the mouse and keyboard worked through out the istallation.
I've tried two different W7 versions: 64-bit Pro and 64-bit Enterprise [Enterprise is not supported, but I have installed it on an iMac 27 2010, and a MacBook Air 2013.]. Both versions of W7 hang at the same point described above.
I've tried a Windows DVD install disk  plus Windows support drivers on a flash drive; and I've tried a bootable flash drive with everything on it. Both fail at the same point.
I have tried both wireless and USB keyboards and mouse. Same failure.
I have even tried removing the flash drive with Windows support drivers before the final reboot. Same failure.
NOTE: when I reboot in OS-X and go to the Startup Disk, the windows option says "Untitled Windows" instead of Boot Camp; but I can select it, and it starts the Windows boot which ends up at the same Windows setup failure point.
Has anyone had the same problem?
Has anyone succeeded? If so, any special actions or ideas?

The issue may be related to the iMac 2013 only having USB 3.0 ports and that windows 7 does not come with drivers for it. Try the following (borrowed from answer on Mac Rumors Forums http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1659481):
    <quote>
If you run into issues with keyboard and mouse not working (due to USB 3.0 and Win 7 incompatibility), you need to run your Win 7 partition (and Win 7 installation disk/partition) in legacy mode. (I found this information at:http://twocanoes.com/winclone/support#faq123 - see "Method using Terminal"). Here you will be setting the legacy on the installation volume of win 7, not bootcamp partition (yet). After running the diskutil list find the volume with installer of Win 7, and then run the command (substituting the disk1s2 below with the information you find through diskutil on your computer:
sudo /usr/sbin/bless --device /dev/disk1s2 --setBoot --nextonly --legacy
Enter administrative password when prompted. Next, select Restart from the Apple menu. Do not hold the Option key while restarting.
You should have mouse/keyboard working. Begin the Windows 7 installation. Upon first restart right after the installer completes, boot into Mac and set the legacy mode for the BootCamp partition (but this time without the --nextonly flag), so you can use keyboard/mouse to complete the installation and thereafter until the USB 3.0 drivers are installed).

Problem : System Freezes frequently on any hardware scan or changes.
Symptom : Wireless Keyboard Mouse not working.
    Caused by : VMkbd.sys located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.
Issue : VMware player or VMware Workstation installed on Windows 8.1 causes compatibility issue leading to system freeze
Soultion : Please follow steps below
    Step 1: Start > run > regedit
    Step 2: Locate to this registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Step 3: On the left side plane, Right click on the registry {4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318} and then export it as backup. Just to be safe.
Step 4: Edit the UpperFilters, The value current would be kdbclass vmkbd. Remove the vmkbd. So only value left would be kbdclass.
Step 5: Restart your system and connect your USB wireless reciever. If all is well it will not freeze your windows now.
This worked for me. Hope this works for you. Enjoy..!!

  • Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse/Trackpad won't automatically connect after installing Boot Camp

    Hey guys!
Another peculiar thing happened to me today with my 3-week-old maxed-out 2012 iMac (other than it kernel panicking when I powered it down the other day...did I mention this was 3 weeks old?).
After installing Boot Camp which I will never do again, my iMac (on the OS X side) no longer recognizes my stock Apple Wireless Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, or Magic Mouse automatically, until I press a button on the keyboard and wait 5 seconds, click the trackpad and wait 5 seconds, or click the mouse and wait 5 seconds.
(The Windows 8 Boot Camp side pairs with the devices immediately after Windows boots, which leads me to believe that the bluetooth devices are defaulting to look for Windows.)
One of my huge fears I had when considering purchasing an iMac is that the Bluetooth devices wouldn't immediately connect. Being a power-user with former Mac notebooks and working understandably fast having owned a web development company for 8 years now and not having to worry about Bluetooth device pairing, I'd like to think this fear is substantiated. But after first use (before installing Windows 8 with Boot Camp Assistant) it functioned normally and the iMac would automatically discover my peripherals and connect them by the time time computer turned on. I also had no trouble holding the Option key on boot to select a boot device....
Now, ever since I set up Windows 8 on the Boot Camp partition and paired the keyboard/mouse/trackpad to Windows, the Mac side completely ignores the keyboard/mouse/trackpad until I click a button on each.
I'm trying to keep it together but this is raging me out.
I went into Windows, immediately unpaired the 3 peripherals from windows and now use a wired keyboard/mouse with Windows (yay, desk space!), deleted the items entirely from the bluetooth panel, then booted to Mac and did the same thing. I then re-paired the devices to the OS X side andddd...no go! Still doesn't find them automatically. I am extremely upset by this and can't seem to fix it.
To summarize, my two issues are:
    A. The iMac in OS X does not automatically recognize my bluetooth peripherals until I click a button on each and wait a couple seconds for them to pair.
    B. I cannot hold Option to select a boot device (or choose Windows/Mac for example) because the computer doesn't recognize the keyboard until OS X boots and I press a key.
Please...for the love of god...someone help me, and stop me from formatting my entire computer over this issue.

I don't have a logitech mouse, but is it possible that the mouse is going to sleep during the reboot, and is thus unavailable when the OS is looking for it?

  • Wake on LAN, Keyboard, Mouse not working - PLEASE help!

    Hey Guys,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question.  I have an Asus laptop that is connected to an external keyboard and mouse.  I want to be able to put the PC in sleep mode, then be able to wake it up with the mouse or keyboard.
I've tried many trouble shooting steps, including the enabling of "Power Management" / "Allow this device to wake up the computer" and the enabling of the "USB selective suspend setting" in the power options.  None of which
resolved the issue.  When I enable the "Allow this device to wake up the computer" in the Keyboard, mouse, or LAN adapter, the option does not stay selected after rebooting.  Does anyone know of a solution, or can point me in the right
    directions?
    TIA,
    George

  • T400 mouse issues after spill

    Hi,
I love my T400. It is the best built, most trouble-free laptop I've owned. Now I have an issue due to a stupid spill.
I spilled a fair amount of beer over the keyboard and immediately powered down. If I had it to do over I would have uplugged and removed the battery, but hindsight is 20/20 as they say.
At any rate, I unscrewed the keyboard and examined it and below it and didn't find any beer residue except on the keyboard itself. I popped all the key tops off and cleaned the entire area with ispropyl alcohol. There was a lot of dirt and hair in there. I think I went through about 70 double-tipped swabs. I also looked at the underside of the trackpad and didn't see anything that looked like it needed cleaning. I didn't remove any ribbon cables.
I'm using the same laptop right now and it is fully functional with the exception of an annoying mouse issue. I'll refer to the buttons as upper left, upper right, lower left and lower right which should be self explanatory. I've never used the upper middle button so not even sure what it is supposed to do.
The first thing I noticed was that the lower left button didn't work and the lower right button seemed to only work in certain instances. I hooked up a USB mouse and that overcame my problem. I soon noticed problems with that where it appeared a mouse click wasn't registering. I also about the same time remembered the upper mouse button on the laptop and started using that.
Generally, my upper left works for any left click functions. However I've notice in Google Chrome, I can't select a tab to change to it. If I left click the tab close, it does close the tab.
If I left click on my desktop, I get the right-click menu. The upper left button produces the Windows Start menu just fine but it is rare that I can get the right-click Windows Start menu. When I can, it is only with the upper right button.
What I'm guessing from all this is, everything that is mouse-related must run through the same hardware regardless of the input used (upper buttons, lower buttons or external USB device) and different software handles mouse clicks differently explaining the differences (good, intermittent or never) in response.
Here's another example. To run the Windows calc program from the Start menu Run feature, normally I would left click run and get the dialog with a drop down menu for recent programs accessed thru Run. Let's say I'm using calc. Simetimes this works normally. Other times when I click Run, I get a single option  "drop-down" menu with that option being "run" which if clicked THEN takes me to the typical drop down menu of recent programs. Other times, I get a context menu which includes the Run option.
With that in mind, I'm wondering if replacing the touchpad assembly is likely to fix my problems or if anyone has any other suggestions other than to not spill beer on your laptop.
    Thanks

    hey beeherd,
replacing the touchpad assembly should resolve the issue. however, i am unable to guarantee that it will.
you could try that, or use an external mouse?
do a reinstallation of mouse drivers and use this manual : http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/43y6629_04.pdf .
open the unit and dry it in a dust free room.

  • Keyboard, mouse, usb, bluetooth stop working, computer freezes

I have a 2009 MacBook Air.  Over the weekend, out of nowhere, the computer froze up where the keyboard and mouse would not work.  Plugging in a USB device and/or trying to use a previously paird BT device also failed.
I was, however, able to remotely access the computer since I had previously set it up with LogMeIn.  By doing this, the computer had full functionality but external peripherals were not recognized.
Using the remote session, I was able to fire off a backup and send it to a network drive (which was an overnight task, but at least I still have the latest data).
I took it to the apple store and, upon starting it up, all worked fine! We restarted it at the genius bar and the problem occurred again.  When the logon screen appeared, the mouse and keyboard were unrespnosive.  Restarting holding down any optoin+Key combos did nothing because they keyboard was not being recognized.
Then we restarted again and it worked.
So, basically, the problem is interemittent.  They offered the repair depot flat fee cost of $280 that would fix the unit no matter what part(s) had to replaced.  It's looking more and more like a logic board issue, but it doesn't make sense that it's only some of the time and others it works fine.  So I took it home to try a few more things.
I was able to get it started up using command R and did a full disk erase, followed by a Mountain Lion re-install.  I also did a NVRAM reset.  That seemed to work for a few minutes, but then it froze up again, although Mountain Lion kept running the install.  Once the install finished, I force shut down the unit and started it up again and the keyboard/mouse were working again.
I plugged in an external USB drive, configured bluetooth and started restoring files.  It worked for a full day and then the next morning, it happened again.  At this point, the keyboard/mouse froze, the bluetooth devices became disconnected and the USB drive dropped - all at the same time.
So, a full reinstall of the OS didn't work (I was somehow hoping this was software related).
Any other thoughts? Should I bite the bullet and just do the flat fee repair?

    HI,
Try resetting the SMC, instructions here. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1543
Try resetting the PRAM/NVRAM, instructions here. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
Try deleting this file. com.apple.bluetooth.plist /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot.
    Hopefully something will help.

  • Keyboard/mouse variably function

My keyboard & mouse stop functioning unpredictably. Problem persists after repairing disk, permissions;also tried taping KB cable under battery, no luck. Can use USB KB & Mouse. All other functions seem OK. Machine is > 3 yrs old. Should I chuck it? Is it likely an OS problem? I also must attach USB KB to launch Windows from Bootcamp (ie. the KB won't work before Mac OS launches). Thanks for any clues, suggestions. With the screen split and arranged so that I have a report open on one side and a worksheet on the other, the keyboard/mouse focus gets 'stuck' on the report pane.

Instead the focus keeps getting sucked back to a visible report panel.
