X100e - Not Charging (Do I need new AC adapter?)

So I've had an x100e (and its original AC adapter) since 2010 and all of a sudden the battery stopped charging and slowly drained, so its obviously not a problem with the battery.
The ac adapter used to cause a few sparks  at the metal parts of the plug when plugging it in, but not anymore. Silence.
Do I need a new adapter?
Where can I get one?

Thanks for the response.
Luckily I have a voltmeter, but sadly, it is not providing a reading on any part of the inside or outside of the barrel. There's definitely no electricity going through the adapter. The box part does not heat up while plugged in.
Now, I've been looking for new adapters, and there are two that look similar but have different wattages. There's 90W and 65W (same as the one that came with the laptop). Which one is recommended?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

Ok, so basically my charger fell apart on my MacBook pro(2010) and I didn't have the money for a new charger, I got it in the states too if that's relevant. Basically my laptop will not charge, I bought a new charger yesterday and it's still no-use,not charging . No green or orange light coming on on the new charger either.

It is one of the items that Apple gets criticized at regular intervals. The MagSafe connector is proprietary and unlicensable, so the company has a lock-in on the power options. And as you have now found out, your hijinks trying to avoid buying an expensive new charger may have caused more damage and led to a total no-charge condition.
If lucky and no physical damage has occurred (there IS a fuse in there somewhere on the circuit boards), maybe resetting the SMC can restore charge functionality, provided there is still enough juice: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • Macbook Pro not charging; do I need a new Magsafe Charger?

I have an early 2011 13-inch Macbook pro. Recently, I've noticed that my magsafe charger does not charge my laptop. The light turns on (dull green, not bright like it normally is) and the power source is switched to the power adapter, but the adapter does not charge the laptop (see photo). I have tried the following troubleshooting steps to no avail:
    1) I cleaned the magsafe port, there was no debris t begin with
    2) I reset the SMC
    3) I tried different outlets
When I used my roommate's charger (from a much older macbook with the T-shaped connector) , the laptop was able to share up just fine. So my questions is whether I need a new charger or whether I can fix mine somehow?
    Thanks

Did you also check the magsafe connector of the charger? Possibly one of the pins is stuck. See point 7 on this page: Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters - Apple Support

  • ITunes will not load--says I need new version of Quick Time

I've used iTunes for a year and downloaded the new software 7.01--it will not run, says I need to install new version of Quick time. I removed all versions of iTunes off my computer and reinstalled iTunes with same result--Need to install new version of Quick Time. I did this and Quick time said--Can't install because a more current version of Quick time is already installed. Catch 22? Is this a do loop of apple frustration or what? Any ideas would be appreciated.
iTunes used to work great, I'm very disappointed in apple right now.

i can take pictures off my phone but thats it, i have some nice programs for pictures and art work and cant get them back on my phone to send them to friends and family. • Not charging when plugged in, new battery and charger

I have a mid-2007 MacBook.  I walked away from the computer for a few minutes while it was plugged in to AC power.  When I returned, the computer was still plugged in, but the charger was no longer being recognized.
I've tried multiple chargers and none are working.
The battery is brand new and in good shape.
The port where the charger connects is clean.
I've tried the SMC reset (several times) and PRAM reset.  It still refuses to charge.
37% battery power and draining -- any suggestions would be helpful.  This computer is WAY out of warrenty and I don't have the money for a replacement or expensive repairs, but I'm starting to fear it's the logic board.

If tested several charger and none works may mean trouble. Do not panic, if logic board is gone, it is gone anyway. If after SMC and PRAM reset does not charge, hm...
My only logical thought is to remove battery for a longer time, 1 hour say, or 2... put it back and retry. If does not work, may be a banal contact, have you tried to clean it? May be of course a contact inside, difficult to say. If anything else fails, you must go to a technician for a diagnostic.
did it happen all of a sudden?

  • Need new power adapter for Qosmio F50

    Hello
I am in need of buying new power adapter for my Qosmio F50 126. The reason being if I try to run more demanding application on my computer, the entire computer just crashes, shuts down. I need to buy a new adapter before my entire computers crashes result in destroying my HDD. I am not sure if my battery are died or the power adapter fails to charge them up.
The picture of underside of my power adapter is shown below.

What I would like to know if the following two adapters are the same and would work with my model. I ask this because the price difference between the two units is significant., 20 USD. Also, I will be importing it from the USA using an agent here. Therefore I need to get it right on the first try.
I'm curious about the connecter it has on the end. I wonder if its same as the one which came with the notebook. I believe it wont be an issue with it clearly says it supports my model, Qosmio F50 126
Another find which I believe is the best and most compatiable.
This one will sure work but the price is much higher than the one mentioned above

    Hi
You need an AC adaptor which supports *19V and 6.32A*
The Ampere value might be a little bit different. This should not be a big problem but you have to ensure the Ampere value isnt too low. The notebook needs enough power to run properly and to charge the battery.
However, the Volt value (19V) cannot be different. _It has to be *19V_*
The original AC adaptor has the part number: *PA3290E-3AC3*
I recommend you to purchase the AC adaptor recommended by Toshiba.

  • Battery will not charge. Computer runs only off adapter.

A few days ago my battery quit charging and my Powerbook 1.5GHz G4 will run only off the adapter. The computer shuts off when it is unplugged and will not boot unless it is plugged in. I tried resetting the Power Managment Unit by unplugging the cable and battery and holding the power button for 5 sec. nothing changed. This is a battery I recieved from Apple for the recall.
Here is system information my computer displays when the battery is in and the adapter is plugged in. I noticed that it recognizes the battery is installed, but it says it is not charging and that the remaining battery capacity is zero.
    Battery Information:
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 3781
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 0 <-----------
    Amperage (mA): 0
    Voltage (mV): 8806
    Cycle Count: 225
    AC Charger Information:
    AC Charger (Watts): 65
    Connected: Yes
    Charging: No <------------

Something is suspicious about those numbers. 3781 looks like the capacity of a brand new battery. If you manage your battery perfectly per Apples directions, after 225 cycles, you should be along the curve to hit 80% capacity by 300 cycles.
There are only 4 components to the charging circuit - the power adapter, the dc-in card, the battery, and the logic board. Since the power adapter runs the system, you'd assume it's OK. Do you have access to anyone with the same battery or an Apple store or Apple Authorized Service Provider where you could check to see if indeed the battery has failed? Here's Apple's US (you don't indicate where you live) service locator: http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/ . If it's a dc-in card problem, it costs around $100, and if it's a logic board problem, it costs more.

  • 8.1 Found Workgroup printer. I'm not on Workgroup! Need new Printer?

    Hello,
I have an Epson color 580 printer from like 15 years ago. Worked great with XP. When I tried to print with Windows 8.1, it directed me to save the file as an .xps or something. I couldn't get the .xps to print. I did some reasearch and people said to disable
the windows .xps viewer or whatever it's called in controll panel and make my printer the primary printing device. I disabled and removed the default .xps viewer and the fax under the printers section which automatically moved my printer ('USB Printer') up
from 'secondary' to 'primary' but it still wouldn't print. Then I realized I didn't install the printer driver. I put the driver CD in but nothing at all happened. I went to Epson's site and downloaded the XP driver because it was the latest version. It gave
an error after installing but I restarted and tried to print anyway. When I tried to print, it said 'no printers were set up' and asked to 'install one?' so I hit yes, but it found the printer on someone else's computer in another room of this house and I
thought I wasn't on any sort of network/workgroup sharing and I don't want to be. I had 'find printer and devices on network..." set to OFF in settings. I have eveything that I can see in settings set to not be on the Workgroup/Network sharing. I tried
"The printer that I want isn't here" but that didn't work. With XP, when I used to format, it would show me the name(s) of the workgroups during the format, and I would never join what was default named WORKGROUP. When formatting Windows 8.1, it
didn't show anything about workgroups while I installed it.
The last thing I want is to possibly have my data shared on the network. I've had 8.1 installed for a few days now but I haven't taken anything from my external drive that I saved from my XP machine in case it can be read from other computers in this house
or via Wi-Fi. I really need that data but have been waiting because of this.
So, besides letting me know how I can make sure I'm 0% on the workgroup network if that's even possible, do I need to buy a newer printer to use with windows 8.1 or can I make the Epson color 580 work?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Bill,
There is quite a few questions in your post so I will try to cover them. First, I am happy to hear your choice to use Windows 8, but regarding your workgroup issue. All Windows OS will be part of a workgroup, often called (by default)
Workgroup or Home. If any other computer on your network is using the same workgroup name and is sharing e.g. printers it might result in you see it, but my guess is, you can’t connect to it without the right username and password. Another new feature you
need to be aware of in Windows 8 is the HomeGroup feature
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/homegroup which is Workgroup on steroids and will allow users in the same HomeGroup to share content across a home network, e.g. printers, pictures movies etc. That mentioned, none of this is
enabled by default. However if you accept the network to be a home network some sharing features will be enabled (based on the location awareness in the Windows Firewall), and I guess you have accepted this otherwise network discovery wouldn’t be active –
that said, it can be differ in Windows 8 versions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_8_editions)
Regarding your printer it might be a good solution to go get e new printer, however you might be able to make it work by using a generic Epson printer driver or by using Epson Universal Printing. Unfortunately Universal Printing is for
    selected Epson printers only.
My Epson knowledge is limited, but a quick search gave me an idea, how about try to use the EPSON Creativity Suite 1.30 for Windows 7 (http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHome.aspx?lng=en-IE&data=qBjAbS6NcI1PPmGd+PArU002FvIhL+ZEhLyrbsKseXRJHfYU003D&tc=6)
and see if that will do the trick – ensure you select the appropriate driver, 32-bit vs. 64-bit.

  • Class not found because browsers need newer runtime environment - or this

For all who are experiencing the same problem!
    Problem:
You're compiling your applets with a quiet modern compiler (i.e. Netbeans Version 3.5.1)
You are able to compile your applets without any problems but if you try your applets in "real life", the browsers can't interpret your applets [class not found]. (I tested Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape Navigator 4.7)
So you need a plugin for the new JAVA environment because the JAVA environment of the browser is older than that which the applet needs.
Well, you have the choice to demand to every user of your applet to download the new Java Runtime Environment, but then don't wonder why nobody visits your site!
But, don't worry: I figuered out another solution, that Netbeans (www.netbeans.org) allows to compile in different JAVA versions.
    Solution:
What you have to do is:
    - Install a previous version of JDK (i.e. JDK 1.3 - I would suggest, lower versions don't work with Netbeans 3.5.1 and JDK 1.3 is enough for IE 6.0 and NN 4.7, which I tested)
    - Go into the "bin"-directory of Netbeans (i.e. c:/netbeans3.5.1/bin)
    - Open the file "ide.cfg" (with notepad or any other texteditor)
    - You see a line like: jdkhome "C:\java\j2sdk1.4.2" -J-Xmx96m -J-Xss1024k -J-Xms24m -J-Xverify:none
    - Change the path to your other JDK you wish, like: jdkhome "C:\java\jdk1.3" -J-Xmx96m -J-Xss1024k -J-Xms24m -J-Xverify:none
    - That's it, you can compile your applets in a previous version of JAVA so that "older" browser user don't have to install a plugin for the new JAVA environment.
    Have fun!
If you have any questions I would be pleased to help you.
If this tip helped you already I would be pleased if you would send me a quick email with your experience.
    My email: [email protected]

That's very good to know of course, but correct me if I am wrong with saying that Java development not
limited to NewBeans or any other IDE use.
If somebody wants to deploy the applets within browser built-in JVM (which is really outdated and just
Java 1.1.6 compliant) he or she should compile applet with Java 1.1.8 (still available from SunMicrosystems). Generated classes will be recognized by both Netscape and IE.
    Regards.

  • Checking register and other spreadsheets not opening-said I need New Numbers which I thought I already downloaded

thought I already downloaded to new MB Pro w RD in Dec; taking advantage of Up to Date Program.
so much for filing 2013 taxes! none of the spreadsheets are opening.

After you upgraded you now have both the Previous version (located in the folder "/Applications/iWork '09") and the new version (located in the folder "/Applications").
You are getting that message because you are trying to use the previous version of Numbers to open a new version formatted file.
    Numbers 2.3                         Numbers 3.0
As you can see the icons are similar, but different.  Being aware of which version of Numbers you are using will help you when opening files.
When you get that message simply open the same file with the newer version.

    Input is 240V
    Output is 19V
    Thanks

Hmm... And why you dont buy the same AC adapter again? Are you not satisfied with it?
I mean if you search with this part number on Google you will find some online shops where you can buy this adapter.
Furthermore you can buy new original Toshiba parts from an authorized service provider.
