Driver update.

Help my please.
P.S. Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter II.
x100e Type 3508-4RG

Hello,
I have replaced the wireless adapter inside my ThinkPad X100e with a Lenovo-branded Intel adapter and experienced the same problem.  As a workaround, I found that uninstalling the wireless adapter in the Device Manager (filename: DEVMGMT.MSC) and then letting the device be re-detected solves the problem.  I am running Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Edition, obtained through MSDN, and do not use Access Connections to manage my network connections.

  • X220i wireless radio and hotkeys won't work after hibernation

I just bought an X220i laptop. I've spent a weekend downloading updates and drivers and searching the forum and support site, but I have two unresolved issues. Once I bring the computer back from hibernation, the wireless radio is off and will not turn back on. I can bring up the dialogue box, click the "turn on" button, and nothing happens. The only way to restor the wireless connection is to reboot the machine.
A related, but less frustrating, problem is that after hibernation, none of the hotkeys work. Again, rebooting is required to use any hotkey functions. Both of these problems occur after hibernation mode only. They do not happen when the laptop recovers from sleep mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you using the preloaded Windows 7?
Can you try running System Update (search in the Start menu) and having it update your drivers?
Unfortunately, System Update often fails to offer the latest versions available, a serious problem.
(See BUG: System Update fails to offer latest versions of some components)
So after running System Update, be sure to check Drivers and software - ThinkPad X220, X220 Tablet, X220i, X220i Tablet (MIGR-77280) and manually install whatever was missed by System Update.
    Hope that helps,

  • Windows 8.1 desktop PC not starting after hibernation

    Hi,
I have a PC that is not starting after hibernation. There are different errors appearing after my tries to repair the boot. I have tried to find a document online describing the boot process but I can't find any. I know how it worked in the old days with boot.ini
and such but this new one is hard to figure out without a desciption.
First I tried to use the automatic repair process but that didn't work. I have also tried bootrec, bootedit, and bcdboot.
I then bought the Easy Recovery Essentials from NeoSmart Technologies but that didn't help to fix the issue, PC still boots to error 1. below. I tried the following process that they suggested:
I have followed the instructions on this link http://j.mp/BcdRepair that they suggested but it didn't help. Instead of the two errors I have come across (PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED and error code 0xc000000f on file \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD via F8, both with
white text on blue background), I got to a black page with grayish text telling me the following:
    Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
    1. Insert your Windows installation disc [...]
    2. Choose your language [...]
    3. Click "Repair your computer."
    File: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
    Status: 0xc000000f
Info: The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors.
It looks like one boot entry gets added to the boot menu every time the PC runs the automatic repair process. In the boot menu I now have more than ten occurrences of Windows Boot Manager.
    Errors:
    1. Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart [...] you can search online later for this error: PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED
    2. Manual boot to one of the Windows Boot Manager entries that appears via F8 gives me the error code 0xc000000f on file \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD.
I even tried to copy the BCD from an exactly identical PC but then the path to the BCD disappeared and I'm not sure what drive letter to enter in bcdedit because C: is not C: but X: when booted into Advanced resque mode.
I could just reinstall Windows 8.1 but it feels frustrating, all the files are there. I just need to fix the boot.
Sorry if this post is a bit of messed up, that's about how I feel right now... :)
Does anyone have any suggestions and/or can point me in the direction of a nice document describing how the boot process works, where the BCD is located (I have several on the PC) I would be very happy.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
According to your description, in my opinion, it seems like not bcd file problem. It's PC itself problem, maybe a hardware problem, also can be system componments corrupt.
Can this PC startup successfully if you choose reboot or shutdown PC? Or this problem just occures after resume system from hibernate?
For Windows boot process knowledge, you can refer to the contents of the link below for more details:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/11341.the-windows-7-boot-process-sbsl.aspx
For your problem, in my opinion, it would be better to use System installation to fix this system file for test.

  • Podcasts are no longer being automatically updated after hibernation mode

    Heeello to you all!
I noticed that after going to hibernation mode (the motherboards suspend to disk functionality) the schedule for my podcast updates is messed up. For example now is Feb 22nd 2007, 21.14 and my iTunes says that it wants to search for new episodes on August 13th 2006, 23:57. This means that the podcasts are not being updated automatically after hibernation. How to reproduce this bug in iTunes:
    1.) Start iTunes
2.) Set up: Search for new episodes hourly in Podcasts settings.
    3.) Close the settings window.
    4.) Leave iTunes running.
5.) Go to hibernation mode (This mode may need to be activated in the system settings: System Settings -> Engergy Options) by klicking Start -> Turn off Computer -> holding shift while clicking on Standby ("Standby" changes to "Hibernate")
6.) Turn the computer back on and have a look in the iTunes settings: In my case you find senseless time and date for the next podcast-update.
Is anyone able to reproduce this error?
And is Apple please able to fix this if this is truly a bug?
    Regards,
    Asks always good questions
P.S.: The english terminology differs most probably from the reality because I happen to use a german language system.
PPS: Yes i use the newest iTunes and Windows xp updates
Super Windows Computer!   Windows XP Pro

I tried this on several other computers and I was able to reproduce this bug on every single one. Very amazing that I am the only one complaining.

    Hello mom_5_01,
The following article should be quite beneficial in your endeavor to update your iPad.
iPad: Unable to update or restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4097
You may encounter the following symptoms while updating or restoring your iPad:
iPad continually restarts but never displays the Home screen.
An update or restore did not complete and the iPad is no longer recognized in iTunes.
iPad stops responding, showing the Apple logo with no progress bar or a stopped progress bar, for over ten minutes.
If this occurs, you can place iPad into recovery mode and attempt to restore again. If iTunes displayed an alert with an error code, see this article before attempting the steps outlined here.
    Cheers,

  • Firefox unresposive after hibernating/sleeping - Windows 8

Lots of similar threads have been raised regarding this same issue but there's still not been any conclusive resolution.
I'm using an up to date FF version 28.0 on Windows 8 and after my PC wakes up (so to speak) FF doesn't respond to any clicks, i.e.:
    * inability to switch between windows, and consequently, inability to switch between tabs
    * inability to interact with the current window, for example it doesn't respond to any clicks within the window.
I usually have websites that are running Flash content prior to hibernating and I've found that killing the 'Adobe Flash Player' task or 'FlashPlayerPlugin' process after hibernating resolves the problem. So no need to restart FF. But of course this will cause all your websites running flash content to crash.
It would appear that FF doesn't respond well to persistent interaction with its UI after hibernating.
When will this problem be resolved?

This sounds somewhat different than the bug in Firefox a few versions ago where Firefox was very sluggish after waking from sleep, you could switch between the windows and open new ones, but the content area took minutes or longer to repaint.
To prevent the Flash plugin from launching independent processes outside of Firefox's plugin-container process, try disabling the protected mode feature of the Flash Player plugin. The following pages provide information on how to disable the feature.
    * Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
    * Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
    * Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078
Does that affect the post-sleep/post-hibernation situation?

  • [SOLVED] Lightweight DE authorization after hibernation

    Hi,
I am using xmonad and pm-utils.
At the end of my day I simply hibernate instead of shutdown. But after hibernation I have last session shown without asking for any password. In GNOME there was a dialog asking for password, you could leave message there or switch the user. How to do something like that without running Xmonad on top of GNOME instead of metacity?
Please help, my actual workstation is pleasing itself for some jokes
    edit:
I solved my problem - install vlock and run vlock -n on resume.

How exactly did you run vlock -n on resume?

Try resetting the SMC and the PRAM.
    1. SMC
Read this and follow the instructions for your kind of mac:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    2. PRAM
    Follow the procedure below:
    1. Power down the machine.
    2. Locate the following keys on your keyboard in preparation for Step 4:
    command–option–P–R
    3. Press the ‘power on’ button.
    4. Immediately – and before the grey screen appears – hold down ‘command-option-P-R’ all together.
    5. Keep them held down until you’ve heard the start-up chime twice. After you release them you should hear it again, and hopefully your Mac will boot up as it should normally.

    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

Hi QTK, that seems a little bit like semantics Why do you think any of those 2 are involved? The backtrace mentions com.apple.iokit.
Anyways, for good measure I removed those 2 kernel extensions, but that didnt make a difference. I guess I could uninstall vmware as well.

My iMac does not connect to internet via wireless after I log in. I have to open network preferences and run the assistant everytime to make it work. Its a new system, updated to Mountain Lion,.

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
    Also, turn off IPv6:
    System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
    Or whatever Interface you use.

  • E550 will not come back after hibernation/sleeping mode

Thinkpad E550 will not come back after hibernation/sleeping mode. please help. I just bought this garbage laptop about 1 month ago. the big issue is the laptop will not come back after sleeping. I often run some calculation for some hours, the laptop always goes sleeping and wont come back. I had to power off the laptop and re-started it again. All of my calculation results  were gone. Lenovo support is very bad, I already submitted a service ticket 2 weeks ago, but nobody contacted me. Lenovo laptops are garbage. I will not buy it anymore. Anyone can help? thanks a lot!

    HI Clare,
In the Toshiba Power Management utility you should click on the 'advanced' tab and about half way down the resultant window you should see an option for the action to be taken when you close the lid of your SA30.
Make sure that this is set to 'hibernate'. Then go to the power save modes and click on the 'details' tab and then the 'Power Save Mode' tab and make sure that the 'Hibernate' option is set to 'never'.
With these settings your notebook should go into 'hibernate' when you close the lid but not at any other time.
Note that you can set the notebook to hibernate when running on battery when the bttery capacity reaches a pre-set value of your own choosing.
    regards,

  • PC Restarts After Hibernating

I followed the instructions given in the Seven Forums thread, disabled the "hybrid sleep" option, and configured the power button to hibernate the PC. When I press the button, the PC hibernates, and then restarts, so I have to press the power button a second time to turn it off. When I turn on the PC, it resumes as expected.
Is there a way to stop the PC from restarting after hibernating? I tried setting the power option in the BIOS from S3 or "auto" toi S1 but that didn't work.

I had the same problem of restart on hibernate with a brand new out of the box dell running windows 7... here's something that may help someone else, i hope so.   After checking all the devices as suggested above, and showing everything just the way
it should be, when all else failed, i did this...shut down completely,  disconnected the a/c power supply from back of computer, removed the battery completely from unit.  I waited about an hour (went and took a nap, i was tired of trying to find
helpful information for my problem with no luck), came back, replaced the battery and a/c power, fired it up.... haven't had a problem with the restart on hibernation since!!!  This solution has actually worked on another laptop i had for a somewhat different
problem...so...don't knock it until you try it, it might be the simplest fix you ever find...  If this does the trick for anyone else, it makes me very happy...post a reply to this if it worked for you...

  • L530 - Can't login after hibernation

After I hibernate my L530 (Win7), I turn it back on, and I get an empty login screen.  There isn't a field for me to enter my password and my avatar picture doesn't show up either.  Any ideas why?

    Hi JaceTMS,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that you are getting a black screen in your Lenovo ThinkPad L530 after hibernation.
Try doing a flee power. Remove the battery, adapter and any external peripherals connected and hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. Reinsert the battery and adapter and check if hibernation works properly now.
If it didn’t help, remove the display drivers from device manager and install the latest one. If you have any difficulties in finding the drivers, share the MTM number of your device.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

    Hi,
i solved your problem this way:
In /etc/systemd/system create a file named [email protected]
    with this content:
    [Unit]
    Description=Starts i3lock at suspend time
    Before=sleep.target
    [Service]
    User=%I
    Type=forking
    Environment=DISPLAY=:0
    ExecStartPre=
    ExecStart=/usr/bin/i3lock
    [Install]
    WantedBy=sleep.target
Replace i3lock with your lock manager.
