X100e Wireless Video Streaming SLOW

Hello,  I have a new  x100e (Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, 2GB RAM, 250GB hard drive).  Lenovo Access Connections says my wireless connection is good (4 out of 5 bars on the indicator) and says speed is 72.0 Mbps.  When I try to view video on YouTube, it plays 3 or 4 seconds then stops with the spinning circle in the middle of the screen for another 4 or 5 seconds then plays another 4 or 5 seconds, and on and on.  It's made viewing video streams not worth the trouble.  If it is something I really want to see, I'll pause the playing and wait til it all loads - which can be a while.  I previously was using an S10 Ideapad w/ WinXP and never had this problem.  What gives?

I am also struggling with very slow data transfer speed in the same WLAN ThnkPad x100e downloads well under 10 Mbps. Strangely, the same metering service shows well over 70 Mbps with another Levovo PC, ThinkPad E320. I have done complete factory reset, all updates, including BIOS and obviously not running any CPU or bandwidth consuming applications while measuring the speed. In the photo you an see that the latency and upload sppeed are at same level, while the download speeds are massively different. Lenovo diagnostics didin't help to solve the issue.
I would really appreciate tips to solve this.

  • Optimization for wireless video streaming

Hi - does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for optimizing Mac OSX 10.6.8 for wireless video streaming?
I'm using tvmobili to stream videos and for the most part it works ok for me but I'm pretty sure I can make things work better if my Mac was using its resources better...for example, I can stream reasonably well via my 5Ghz wireless connection from a recently rebooted machine. But it seems like perhaps after 60-90 minutes into a video it appears either the Mac or the network has slowed down and the video becomes choppy. (I'm investiagting the network side as well).
    ...amy suggestions?
    Thanks...Marc

We are planning to use aironet 1600/2600 series using video streaming server having streaming optimization..
    1600/2600 AP don't support 802.11ac.  Next, 2600 is 3x4:3.
Personally, if you're going to push HD streaming down, I wouldn't recommend anything other than a 3700.
We've done a similar exercise a few months ago where we lined up between 50 to 60 Chromebooks.  All the Chromebooks were associated to a single AP and we streamed HD video from the site (where we were doing the testing) all the way to the site where the HD video was stored, our DC.  We had no problems whatsoever and the 3700 GigabitEthernet interface wasn't even hitting 40% utilization.  (Our access switches have 1 Gbps uplink to the site distro.  The site distro has a 1 Gbps uplink all the way to the DC.)
When we tried using our cheap-a$$ HP Mini netbooks, we had difficulty getting them to stream the videos even with 5 of these netbooks because the CPU of the netbooks simply couldn't cope.
What I would like to ask is this:  How important is the capabilities to have seamless streaming of HD videos down to the clients?  If it's that important, then don't skimp on the choice of AP.  When you're dealing with wireless, it's more expensive to look at the price of the APs and then regret later than get the best AP for the job.

  • Broken video stream  slow everything

Broken video stream  slow everything I am so frustrated. Everything worked so well until 2 weeks ago.

Care to share what happened and/or changed 2 weeks ago?  Which app is playing the video stream?  Which browser & version are you using?  Tested other browsers?  If not, why not?
How large is your HD & how much space do you have left?
Please detail ALL you have done so far in the way of troubleshooting?   Need this info to avoid the been there done that scenarios.

  • Wireless Video Streaming

Use Case: 80 users connected to a wireless network. The wireless network has HD videos in its cloud storage and it is intended to allow users to stream this content on the BYOD devices. The users are free to chose content they want to view. Internet will not be shared with these users. Will a 3x4/4x4 Dual Band 802.11ac MU MIMO soc work in this case? Intention is to use only one Access Point for all users.

  • How do I fix slow video streaming?

I have a brand spankin' new MacBook Pro and over the last few days the video streaming is continuously interrupted.  Choppy and slow.  I have even been unable to play the Apple tutorials.  What could be my issue?  Any help that I could get with this would be greatly appreciated.

The issue is definitely your ISP or your router. Does your router support "N" band. If your router is old and has alot of devices connected to it, this could be the cause of your anxiety.... I recently purchased a new N band router and my wireless connection speed is awesome! I can click anywhere on a Youtube video clip running on 1080p and the video instantly loads. There is no wait time. So again the problem is not your macbook pro and is most likely the transmit speed of your router. A quick way to check is to go to the "airport" symbol at the top of your mac's toolbar... hold option down and click on the airport symbol and see what your transmit speed is as well as the channel and we can reccomend what to do from there. You should also change your security from WEP to WPA-PSK 2 or WPA2 is usually how it is displayed. Hope this helps.

    Hi redngreen,
Does this happen with Wi-Fi and ethernet?
Is your network slow with other activities?
There's a section in this article for Wi-Fi network seems slow.  Some of it applies to Ethernet as well.

  • Slow video streaming speed

I've recently run into some problems streaming videos online. No matter which sites I visit the loading time is extremely slow. Everything else still works fine, it's just when i try to stream videos that it seems to slow down. I've tried using different internet connections (at home, school, friends) and still had the same problem while other computers using the same connection had no problems at all. I've tried disabling the firewall, emptying the caches, checking quicktime settings, reinstalling video codecs (divx, flip4mac, perian etc) nothing seems to work. Videos stream at 1kb/s but I can download the same video to my hard drive at 300+kb/s. If anyone can help me with this I'd greatly appreciate it.

I've had the same problem more or less since I've owned this MacBook (@ 18 months). It's a 2.2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM. I've tried all sorts - keeping my Dock items to a minimum,I have a plain Desktop Wallpaper with only 4 Desktop Icons, regularly flush all caches, and (because of the horrendous noise), have done the "Reset" thing on more occasions than I care to remember. I've also kept all video players up to date. Snow Leopard has further exacerbated the problem. Nothing has so far worked for me.
Although I had Apple Care for the first 12 months, I didn't think I needed it any longer so I let it lapse, although I still pay for MobileMe. Since experiencing the "Case Cracking" phenomena, I've tried contacting Apple without success, and I really don't see why I should traipse over 140 miles and pay for a Genius consultation to get the case issue resolved.
The video slowdown is just the tin hat on everything for me. What I have here is an almost unusable piece of cracked junk (almost forgot the keys are also coming away!) that cost me well over a grand. Can you imagine what I said to my wife when I learned she was planning on buying me an iMac (she has the MacBook Pro - which in fairness, isn't plagued with problems)? I've got enough Apple stuff to fill a small suitcase (iPhones, iPods, computers, peripherals), but I won't be buying any more. A sub 500 quid machine running any MS OS or Linux has got to be miles better than this. Good luck in your quest.

  • Streaming video is slow with Yosemite. Why?

Since upgrading to Yosemite, my streaming video is slow and choppy. What can I do to correct this?

My appologies, dont know what I was thinking, this should have said:
in the navigator, click on the slide with the video file
Inspector > Animate > add an effect
in the start transition dropdown select; Automatically
set Delay to equal the duration of the video clip
File > Export to > QickTime

  • Choppy video streaming from samba on wireless network

    Hey all,
I have a macbook pro with leopard 10.5.7 installed. The server setup is a Linux server running samba which is wired to a wireless router. I connect my macbook pro wirelessly to the router. Everything is all set up; my computer can connect to the server and browse the files without a problem. However, when I try to watch videos stored on my server through samba, the video is extremely choppy and practically unwatchable. I know this is a wireless problem with my macbook pro because my windows desktop has no problems at all watching videos over the wireless connection and when I wire the laptop directly to the router, the video streams just fine i.e, no choppiness. I have browsed the fourms and the internet but no solution has come up yet. I was hoping someone here might have a solution.
    Thanks,
    schne1derman

Thank God! I thought I was the only one having this problem.
I also have a Ubuntu box with all my movies and I stream videos wirelessly from it to my macbook using XBMC (ubuntu) and Plex (mac). At first I thought the problem was the wireless G speeds from my previous router so I bought an Airport Extreme Base Station and connected it via ethernet to my existing ADSL/Wireless router on a bridge configuration. Both ubuntu and macbook are now connected at 300Mbps but I'm still experiencing occasional choppy video. The wireless connection stays up at all times so it's not a wireless connectivity issue.
I tried NFS but the problem persisted. I also installed Windows 7 RC on my bootcamp partition and had the exact same problem. Which means it can be an issue with the Airport on the macbook. I don't have another computer with Windows so I cannot say if it would work better on a PC.
At first I suspected the problem was with ubuntu so I posted this on the ubuntu forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7324538
As you can see on the description I was getting those messages on the mac logs:
26/05/09 6:02:19 PM KernelEventAgent[198] tid 00000000 type 'smbfs', mounted on '/Volumes/MediaCenter', from '//ed@ed-linux/MediaCenter', not responding
    26/05/09 6:02:19 PM KernelEventAgent[198] tid 00000000 found 1 filesystem(s) with problem(s)
    26/05/09 6:02:19 PM loginwindow[197] 1 server now unresponsive
At first I thought it was a problem with the arp tables on the mac. I created a static entry for my ubuntu box. Now the connection is better and the samba volume doesn't disconnect as often and when it does, it reconnects after a while. Before the arp table static entry I had to reconnect manually:
26/05/09 6:02:32 PM kernel smbiodreconnect: Reconnected to ed-linux
One other thing to add. Before installing 10.5.7 (i.e running 10.5.6), I had this problem and the video used to get frozen (samba share disconnection) once or twice on a 1 hour video and reconnected 15 to 20 seconds right after it. Not a big deal. Now it happens several times (5 or 6 times on a 30 minute video) and it takes around 30 to 40 seconds to reconnect.

  • Video streaming is slow

Video Streaming is choppy and slow after migrating over to a Mavericks OS on a new Macbook Pro?
the migration is one of a long chain of migrations going back to OS 9. My first thought is delete the OS 9 folder and it's Apps since they don't run on OS X anyway.
    Any other suggestions?

Maybe you have incompatible internet plugins or other background processes that are incompatible with Mavericks. Try a safe boot (restart, hold down shift until you see the Apple logo). This does some diagnostic testing and then starts up without third-party added on software. If this eliminates the slow streaming, then you know the problem is with the third-party software. A safe boot doesn't fix anything, but it tells you where the problem is. Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
It would help to give us more information. Etresoft: EtreCheck is a free app developed by one of the contributors to this forum which will generate a system report on your computer. In particular it will report what third-party background processes you have. If you can paste the report here we can take a look and see what might be the problem.
try resetting your internet connection and wifi:
power down everything: modem, router, computer, and peripherals
power up each item in turn in the same order: modem, router, computer, and peripherals. Let each power up completely before moving on to the next

  • Slow video streaming, etc.

I watch NHL hockey games by video streaming.  It appears they are skating in slightly slow motion, picture is herky jerky, and sometimes skips a second or so in the picture.  It used to be OK but now it is doing this stuff.  What might be wrong with my video streaming of these games.  The games are in HD - could that be the problem??  I need some help.  DZ

I agree, it's very frustrating. I read on one forum that it was a RAM issue which I just upgraded this morning and it didn't help. I'm trying to watch training videos on Kelby Training and it's driving me crazy. I feel like I'm watching one of the old Godzilla movies with the mouth not matching up with the voice. I also read a suggestion to uninstall and reinstall, and why did I think that would work? It never does. I also tried the upgrading to Safari 4.0 and nothing. It's choppy in all browsers.
As they say on the Rush Limbaugh show, "MEGA DITTOS." We all agree, but no one seems to hear our lament and our concerns with the inadequate video streaming capability on iMac computers and with Safari...even the latest versions.

  • Video streaming on my new iMac is very slow.

  • Slow video streaming - help!

My video streaming has always been pretty fast but as of lately it's gone down hill. I'm running in wifi network and the loading of a three minute video takes like 10 minutes
I've tried reseting network settings. Clearing cookies and caches. Resetting. Nothing works and now when I go to open the YouTube app it never finishes loading. I don't know what to do
    any help? PLEASE!

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Connect your iPhone to your computer. In the iTunes window select your iPhone under Devices on the left then select the Summary Tab.
At the bottom of that window look where it says; Capacity.
Make sure you have sufficient disk space to download video content.
Also, YouTube streams video using the Flash player plugin. Apple/iPhone does not support Flash at this time.

  • How can I improve slow video streaming?

    I just got a new Asus UX303LN - i7, 12 gb, quad HD screen, etc. I'm running Windows 8.1 and Firefox 32.0.1.
Part of the issue I'm having is due to connection speed, which is independent of Firefox. But I disabled hardware acceleration firefox, and saw some improvement in video streaming (less choppiness). On my old computer, for some sites, particularly Dailyshow.com and colbernation.com, the stream would automatically downgrade to lower resolution if my connection was an issue. I'm finding that the stream does not degrade and it insists on streaming a choppy HD feed. Also, on these sites, the controls that usually pop up for full screen are not there. Other sites are better but still I'm looking for suggestions for anything I can do in Firefox to boost performance or degrade the stream's resolution when my connection is sub-par. I've also tried the laptop's power settings through Windows. Thank you.

disabling WebGL had a significant positive effect. The video quality is somewhat less but the choppiness is gone. I'm confused though - is it possible to have the best of both worlds - use my hardware to get fast and not-choppy performance?
