X120e Weak Wireless Signal (Any Suggestions?)
I Just got my x120e yesterday and love it. The only problem I am having is with the wireless card. The dravers are up to date and it is connecting to a netgear wireless-n router. It is set to broadcast wireless-n only. Tried changing the broadcast channel a few times.
I know sometimes there are alternitive drivers that work better, but don't know if the x120e has any.
BTW it looks like I am using the 1x1 card from the description in the device manager.
Thanks!
Well, first of all the 1x1 card is only 150mbps, or Wireless-N Lite.
But as for your problem... When I had my X120e, also with the 1x1 card, it would only connect at low speeds like 60-70mbps, and the range was terrible.
After many hours of screwing around, I found that there was a setting in my router, Channel width was set to 20mhz instead of 40mhz. After changing that, the wifi was able to connect at 150mbps and the range was much, much better.

Trying to connect my new Apple TV to the wireless network. When I try to use the remote the Apple Tv doesn't respond ( doesn't go to the next screen). Could this be caused by a weak wireless signal?
It is not properly connected to the network.
Make sure location is set correctly
DNS should be on auto (settings - general - network)
Try ethernet
Signal strength on device won't account for issues, you would need a network report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar. This will show accurate signal strength along with noise and nearby networks -
Macbook Pro weak wireless signal
I recently purchased a new battery for my MacBook Pro and ever since, I've had terrible wi-fi signal. I've got an iPad, MacBook and iPhone that all have no problem connecting to the network, from all over the house, but with my MacBook Pro, I've got to be within 5 feet of the router or I have no signal at all.
Any thoughts on how to increase the wireless signal so that I can get out of my house again? =)Hi
I've had a similar problem - see http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7278377#7278377 . Things continued to get worse, so that sometimes I was losing the signal for several hours at a time: meanwhile my nearby G4 iMac continued to connect with never a hiccup.
In the end replacing the original airport card with a Sonnet Aria Extreme N Mini PCIe 802.11n card has (touching wood, crossing fingers and taking all similar necessary precautions) completely sorted it. No other changes - I'm still using the 11g base station. However, mine was a first revision MBP with an 802.11g card: I guess yours has an 11n card already.

Weak Wireless Signal After Power Outage - Anyone else??
We had a storm Sunday 7/25 and lost power, now my Verizon Fios router's wireless signal is extremely weak and I can't connect to it unless I'm in the same room with the router. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I've had no luck with troubleshooting tools and calling Verizon (why are they so confused and lost all the time). The wireless adapter works fine, but the signal is so weak it can't be connected to. HELP!!
I had EXACTLY the same problem, and I am in Maryland (same storm, I bet). I just cured the slowness. Here's how.
The instructions on the Verizon website for rebooting your router do not include "Unscrew the coaxial cable." You have to do that, as well as turn off the power. The Verizon guy I talked to tonight said you get a "better reset." I kept my router powered off and unscrewed for a while--a good couple of minutes at the minimum. Then, when I screwed the coaxial cable back in and powered back up, I had full-strength connectivity.
Good luck, fellow Marylander. -
I need USB wireless adaptor any suggestions?
I am connected to the internet via an ethernet cable, no wireless here. So I cannot use my iPad, can I use a USB wireless adaptor? what type? any suggestions as all of the USB adaptors on the market seem to be for Windows. I am in Pune India, where can I buy a suitable adaptor?

I am on a large ethernet network so a little worried about 'opening' it's internet connection, should I be?
Well, a USB wireless adapter would do the same thing as the link I provided. Basically, anyone within about 10 to 15 meters of your computer would be able to access the wireless network.
An Aiport Extreme base station would allow security options to restrict access to a specific devices, require passwords, encryption, etc. If this is a business environment the best thing to do would be to talk to the IT department for an official solution. -
My iMac will not display my wireless networks, any suggestions?
I have 3 wireless netowrks in my house. My iMac will only display the one that is for my home automation system and it is not connected to the internet. Any suggestions on this? When I click the wireless icon at the top it only shows 1 network, it won't display my other network or my neighbours networks. When I try to add one of the other networks in my house, it will not find them.

Weak Wireless Signal Boost?
Will the WRE54G Range Expander boost the signal strength of a wireless signal. I have free internet from my apartment complex and would like to take advantage of it, I am however only able to get a strong enough signal (low) in the closet. If I placed a range expander in the closet will this enable me to have access throughout my unit?
Yes you can use it but then you need some configuration details like channel etc from the source to configure your range expander.

My wireless connections have been weak lately. I have less bars than I should when my airport is on. I know it is not up to par because my friend has the identical computer (MacBook Pro 1.83 GHz 1 Gig RAM, all the same specs, etc.) and we sat mine and his down next to each other and went to the same websites checked our signals in airport. His signal was stronger and web pages loaded faster.
Anyone have any clues as to why this may be?I have a 17" core duo,I have trouble connecting to my laptop from 20ft or further from the base station, (closer than 15ft it seems ok), signal goes from 1-4 bars. (my old G3 laptop using a 8011.b card has never had a problem from the same location)
Same problem at a lot of internet cafes even though others have no problems.
But setting my router to 8011.b "only" did stop the wifi signal bouncing from 1 bar to 4 bars.
Using 8011.g appears to get a weak signal on my machine.
I will be trying to get this airport card replaced for one that does work with 8011.g
Anyone else care to confirm this problem? -
Homehub 2, weak wireless signal.
I've got an unusual problem in that a few weeks ago (after 2 years of no problems) my wife's laptop started loosing wifi signal intermittently. She's normally about 20ft away from the homehub 2 modem (one wall in between), my PC was next to the homehub but connected by cable, so no problem there. Initially I thought it was a problem with the inbuilt wifi card in her laptop but not so sure now, tried a Netgear wifi adaptor on her laptop with the inbuilt card switched of and was still getting a drop in wifi signal (from 70 to 17%) intermittently. I've now positioned the homehub midway between the laptop and the PC, with the laptop back on it's own wifi card and the PC on the Netgear adaptor, signal strength is now 100% on both.
I suspect the the homehub wifi is getting weak, anyone else seen this problem.
PS. Also seen the phone icon (have phone connected) on the homehub flash yellow a couple of times for a few minutes. For how I use the hubs - The type B does appear to be better than the type A - Others will say otherwise
The lug is part of the clip used to retain the hub phone base charger in position - Some do break
I guess you've never fitted one? and the hub was sent out to you as BNIB?
(BT do 'refurbish' the hubs)
Use inSSIDer if you want to check the wireless channel for interference - it won't show hidden SSID's
You may be able to improve the range using it
Having the transformer at full stretch does help
Now for BTFon, A picture paints a thousand words.........
BTFon Active
BTFon off
(BT, I'm still waiting for some input on this)

My ibook always gets a weak wireless signal
I've had my ibook for about a year now, and never a problem, but I've noticed that no matter what wireless network I connect to, I always have a few less signal bars than everyone else. I thought maybe airport extreme was sort of crummy, but me and my girlfriend just set up a wireless network in our apartment using netgear and she gets a full signal on her powerbook everywhere in the apartment while I get a bar or two at best.I tried taking the keyboard off and fiddling with the antenna placement, but to no avail.
I've had the same problem for the last couple weeks after having my iBook for over a year. Same with every network, checked the connections three times. I read some isolated posts saying that this is a software problem, and that Tiger updates were also causing the problem. Lo and behold, software update this morning included an AirPort update, and now it's working again.

I'm actually writing about my wife's computer, which is a 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo. We have three computers on our network, but for some reason my wife's computer is showing a lower signal than the others, even though she is the closest to the Airport Extreme Base Station. Her laptop has five bars when it is in the same room. My older iMac has five bars upstairs at some distance from the Base Station. What issue could there be that would make my wife's faster, newer iMac respond differently than the other devices in the house? Can anyone suggest a tweak?
I'm not sure that I have answered my question, but I have resolved the problem without really understanding why. I enabled 5 GHz on the Airport Base Station. My wife's computer is still receiving the 2.4 GHz band, but the signal strength of that band has gone to five bars. I never understood why it was so low before, and I don't understand why this should boost it now. I always had a strong signal with a laptop in the same room. Anyway, I'm going to put this thread to rest.

Weak wireless signal after iTunes upgrade
When I upgraded to iTunes 10 on my 2006 MacBook (running 10.6.4) my wireless internet suddenly quit working unless I'm in the same room as the router. It may not have anything to do with iTunes, but I am suspicious as iTunes 9 started doing some funny things to my hard drive. Anyone else with a similar problem? Any ideas for solving it?

TS1398 I cant get the phone to joing my wireless network any suggestions?
Suggestions?
Maybe try settngs - general - reset - reset network settings. Is anything recognized? Did you have a connection before? Go to settings - wi-fi - press the arrow on the network and select 'forget this network'. then try to reconnect. Turn off your router then turn back on.
