X121e doesn't boot after BIOS update

Hello everybody,
I am experiencing following problem with my Lenovo X121e Laptop.
After suffering problems with the Fn-keys on my Laptop, I yesterday decided to give it a shot and upgrade my BIOS for 1.06 to 1.11. I downloaded the BIOS update package from the Lenovo website and startet flashing using WinFlash. Flash progress went fine, ending in the WinFlash shutting down and innitiating a reboot. After Windows had shut down, the Display remained black, not giving me a chance even to reach the BIOS.
I have already tried to start up the Laptop without AC and battery pack, but no change. Even tried to hold the power button for about 60 seconds when having the Laptop disconnected from AC and battery, nothing.
Can anybody tell me what happend to my X121e and how I can get it working again ? Or is it a case for warranty now ? I
Thanks for helpful answers in advance.

  • Comp doesn't boot after bios update

I flashed the new 1.90 bios using winflash on my K8N Neo2 Platinum, after the reboot my comp screen didn't turn on and ventilators stayed at max rpm.
I tried clearing CMOS (i know it can't do anything but it's worth trying) and using another stick of ram (PC4000 on hynix chips that can do cl3, my BH5 doesn't boot on cl 3)
    but nothing helped.
Is there a way of reverting to the older BIOS?

Well it's hard to flash back to an earlier bios if your system don't post .
What you can do is to shut off system , remove +5vsby by turning off PSU .
Then remove all devices except the neccesary cpu/memory/gfx card/floppy drive (specially disconnect all USB ,including usb mouse/usb kb )
After having it barebone , reset cmos with the jumper (min 15.secs to be sure) .
Connect the power and see if it posts with a normal PS2 keyboard and no mouse.
If it does you can flash back with a msdos bootable floppy with awfl833d.exe and the bios file on it .

  • Re: Satellite A200-1AX doesn't boot after BIOS update

    Hello all!
I wanted to install XP on a Satellite A200-1AX.
So I tried to update the Bios to the version that supports XP.
When I tried to install it, Vista crashed and now the laptop won't even turn on.
When I keep the power button pressed, the fan wheezes but nothing else happens.
I think the BIOS is gone or corrupted.
    What do I do?
Thanks in advance for any help!

    > When I keep the power button pressed, the fan wheezes but nothing else happens. I think the BIOS is gone or corrupted. What do I do?
What to say buddy. Looks like something went wrong during the BIOS update procedure Possibly the BIOS was not written correctly and the ROM module must be flashed again using a special procedure and tool.
In such case you can do nothing you have to contact the ASP in your country for a fix!!!
Dont waste a time and ask an authorized service technician for a help.
    Good luck and best regards

  • Pavilion g6t wont boot after bios update now just black screen please help!

I downloaded an update for the bios for my pavilion g6t-1d00 laptop running windows 7 64 bit. It started acting kind of funny but I didnt think anything of it til I tried to boot it up the next day and all I got was a black screen and a orange led light on the f12 button for the internet and the caps lock button after blinking afew times started the dredded two times every couple of seconds. I tried the windows key+B key power key, no luck. I cant access anything because I have no monitor and I'm at my wits end. I refuse to wipe my hard drive and start over even if I could! I cant access hp tools or manager or anything, please someone has to have a solution!

    @Fuschia4me,
    1.       You will have to use another computer
    2.       Access the HP.com site with the BIOS updates available here is the link
    3.       You want to select the F.36 BIOS version
    4.       When you click on the update then click download and it will ask you to save or run, you want to save to a flash drive
    5.        Once done insert the flash drive into your laptop
    6.       Turn the computer on and press the windows and B key like before
If the process doesn’t work the first time I would try at least 2 more times.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

  • [HP Omni 10 5601TW] Tablet won't boot after BIOS update

I tried to use this utility to update my tablet's BIOS.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-132613-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4157&product=6796753&sw_lang= After the update my tablet doesn't boot, or in the words of what this BIOS version fixes, the tablet stops functioning and displays a black screen after the BIOS is updated. How can I restore previous BIOS? Thanks in advance,Arpan

hey, i have run into the exactly same issue with my Omni 10 - Win 8. there was a BIOS update available in the HP Assistant app, i installed it and rebooted. Now no display on boot. On pressing the power button, i just get a usual small vibreation of the tablet switching on, and then nothing happens. the vibreation keeps repeating every 10-15 seconds. there is no display. i have tried with power+vol up and also power+ vol down button combos, but it just keeps vibrating every 10-15 seconds with no display. was a solution found for this?

  • Pavilion m9500y wont boot after bios update

    Hello Everyone,
I have a m9500y desktop that I recently did a bios update on. The update seemed to go through just fine but then when it rebooted it ended up beeping a few times and showed only a black screen. I removed the power cord and cmos battery and tried to power on after putting them back. It came back to the boot screen and hitting f10, it says "Entering Setup" and a flashing cursor, but doesn't get passed that. Is there a way to get into some recovery mode and reflash the bios again?
Thank you in advance for any help.

    Hi,
There is one HP BIOS update available for your PC when using Win Vista 64 bit.
Is this the update that has failed? Did you attempt this BIOS update running a different version of Windows?
It may be possible to mod the BIOS update per above and flash again. Another option is to have HP reflash your PC's BIOS. The cost to have HP fix may not be worth it given your PC's introduction date in 2008.
This site may provide some help. Check out BIOS Recovery. Current HP PC's use AMI BIOS. Your PC may have an Award BIOS.
Or you could contact a local PC tech for assistance. The tech may be able to reflash the BIOS at a lower cost.
There is no easy fix for this problem.
    Jaco

    hi sathish291
    Welcome to the Forums.
    Can you try the following:
    1. Power down the machine, remove the AC adapter and battery.
    2. Hold the power button for 30secs and reconnect the AC adapter only then turn the computer ON.
If the machine still doesn't power up normally and boot into WIndows then it's likely that something went wrong (could be a bad BIOS flash or an internal component might have gone defective during or after the BIOS update). In this case, you may need to contact lenovo on how to go about getting the unit serviced.

  • Lenovo w510 will not boot after BIOS update

    Hi,
This morning I used the windows bios update utility to update my Lenovo w510 type 4318. Everything appeared to have been successful until the machine rebooted. It froze on the lenovo splash screen with text saying to press the blue think vantage button for more options.
I waited a good 30 minutes to make sure it wasn't processing anything before trying again. When frozen pressing the power button cause system to beep two times Pause and beep three more times.
Called Lenovo support and was told since out of warranty (2/12) the onlyI option is for paid mail in repair at quoted maximum of $575. Needless to say I was very dissatisfied - and made this clear to support who informed there was no way to escalate and no other options.
Does anyone have any other options or ability to escalate this case and keep a Lenovo customer. really disappointed

Btw, reason i updated bios to fix issue with usable ram showing 3 gb.

NEVER use the .EXE method for a BIOS update.  Always use the .ISO and the CD/DVD boot method.  Never update after the warranty expires.

  • Computer will not boot after bios update

This afternoon I recieved an urgent BIOS update in much the same format as I have received updates from HP for years. It was accompanied with some other non urgent update.
So I gave  the permissions to make the update.
I recieved a notice that the update had been successfully completed and the computer said it was restarting.
The problem is that it never woke up...
After several minutes I manualy restarted the computer.
As the boot began I heard three beeps, and then nothing but a black screen.
I shut down and restarted after several minutes but this time no beeps just black screen.
I figured that somthing must have corrupted the BIOS
I began researching what the three beeps mean.  Appearently three different sets of BOIS were used in this model.  Different BIOS have different beeps.
Well I sure never  thought I would need to write down what BOIS I have...
In my research I have see referances to holding down certain F keys  for different BIOS options as I start the computer
If I hold down an F key when I hit the start button the computer emediately shuts off
How can I get to the BIOS to reset or roll back the update?  What next?

The box is on the way...
In addition the the methods outlined in the article The Hp tech  had me try to start tapping the F 10 key.
    Nothing worked...
Hp is sending me a box to return the computer to a repair facility.
Thank you for your  timely assistance,
    Sparks

  • T500 takes 15 minutes to boot after bios update

    symptoms:
it takes around 10 or so minutes to get to the thinkpad press f1 to set up screen, after that it gives me a screen that says ME is initializing, this is after a bios update and subsequent roll back of the bios. both bios updates now give me the same result. sleep functions also seems to not work, once im into windows my t500 operates as usual.
    what I've done:
in addition to rolling back the drivers Ive disconnected /reconnected the cmos battery and turned off AMT. ive also made sure that all of my drivers are up to date.
    machine is a 2081-cto running on win7
anyone have any idea what i can do? i still have a long warranty but would like to solve it myself so i dont have any down time.

Hi guys and welcome to the forum, dinny.
You might try fiddling with the BIOS setting for the security (TPM) chip:
F1 at boot to get to BIOS setup, then Security, then Security Chip.
I have mine set to "Disabled" but have seen other reports that setting it to "Enabled" can cure bootup delays.
Worth a try, please let us know if it helps you.
    Good luck,
    Frank

  • Won't boot after bios update

My HP Envy 15 - j028TX did a bios update and when I turned the power on later would not boot. I can hear the fan, power button works but nothing comes on the screen at all. No beeps are heard, the caps lock button flashes twice and the f12 button stays on. I've done a hard reset, any suggestions.

Blink code indicated BIOS corruption. Try Roll back of BIOS:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&docname=c02693833
You have to try this many times, the timing of holding the keys together is very important 1-3 seconds.
If that doesn't work I'd probably affected your hardware, you may have to contact HP.

  • Satellite Pro L300 will not boot after Bios update

    Help please.
I have just formated a Satellite Pro L300 laptop.
I used all the updated drivers from Toshiba and all went very well.
I then updated the bios with the latest version.
After doing this the laptop will not boot but just keeps scrolling through the start menu and no matter what option I choose it just keeps doing the same thing.
    Any ides welcome

    Hi
I used the Microsoft installation disk but just keep getting to the same stage until the blue screen appears. I have tried different installation disks and also changed the hard drives as well. I can do everything in bios, change boot device enable or disable devices but that is it. I have tried a few times to instal windows but it just stops at the same point saying windows is stopping instal to protect the system. I fear the bios update has done some permanent damage as I cant get past the dreaded blue screen. Thanks anyway

  • Satellite A50 doesn't function after BIOS update

    Hi All,
I tried flashing my BIOS through windows as recommended on my Laptop Manufacturer (Toshiba) website. I guess the process went wrong as after 2 hours still the message "Do not interrupt" was getting displayed. I had to force power off my PC. Now it is not booting up.
The Laptio is Toshiba SA50-114, Satellite series.Model No - PSA50E
I have tried suggestions in following link
    http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSu...200%2035586212
    However, this did not work.
However, I don't have the recovery disk tool and BIOS/ROM file. Have tried searching on internet, but with no results.
Can someone please help me with
    1. How can I perform the BIOS update to get my PC running back.
    2. Point me to links where I can find the files in the above link.
    Many Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Parag

    > 1. How can I perform the BIOS update to get my PC running back.
Not possible if your BIOS ROM module was wrong flashed.
If you are a lucky man then only the ROM module must be flashed again using an special procedure. But this can be done only by an authorized service provider in your country.
    > 2. Point me to links where I can find the files in the above link.
There is no link! You will have to ask the ASP for the help.

  • T450s won't boot after bios update

Just got my new t450s yesterday.  Booted it up today and connected to the internet.  Lenovo widget popped up and told me there was an update.  It said there was a new bios update. I walked through the UI steps and it installed the new bios and then went to reboot the machine.  Machine did not post.  Any attempt to power on gets a blank screen and 2 short beeps, pause, 3 short beeps.  The Green light on the power button is currently gently pulsing.  pressing and holding the power button does nothing.  Tried unpluging and replugging both the battery and the AC adaptor and no change.  help?

Guys, I just faced the same issue. My T450s was delivered to me this afternoon. I got it home and plugged it in and was prompted for the BIOS update while I was updating Windows. Went through the UI and the machine did not come up after shutting down for the update. I found this post online and tried to factory reset but did not get a response again. Things were getting crazy and I decided to try and remove the external battery and let it drain down. But I just thought of trying the factory reset after the external battery was removed and it worked!! The machine has booted up and went straight into installing the Windows updates and I found that the BIOS has been successfully updated too. Really weird!  Seems to be running fine now. But a scary way to start off!
