X121e ECP 1.11 update file .fl2 missing in bios update archive, still at 1.10 ECP after flash

Hello Community,
first post and guess what: it is a problem
Well, the topic should say it all, but for your reference:
I downloaded the latest bios file from http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8quj12us.exe
The readme is at http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8quj12us.txt
In the readme it states

So, it contradicts itself as to the combination of bios / ecp version.
What I did:
I (winflash.exe under admin rights, no advanced settings toggled) flashed from 1.15 BIOS / ECP 1.10 to 1.17 BIOS / 1.10 ECP, which is what I am running now 1.17 / 1.10.
There is only one file with the extension of .fl1 in the archive - no .fl2 file for the ECP specifically. The winflash.exe says nothing about ECP anywhere.
So,
a) is there a 1.11 ECP at all?
b) if so, is it included in the .fl1 file?
c) if not, where do I get it?
Thank you for your help.

Hello,
I don't have an X121e myself, so cannot check this, but my initial thought is that it's meant to be at 1.10, and the reference to the 1.11 ECP was a typo.

  • Virus 'flagged' file in Windows 7 Bios Update...HELP !!

I just finished updating some Windows 7 Bios files....one of the files: C:\PROGRAM FILES\LENOVO\SYSTEM UPDATE\UNCSERVER.EXE" was flagged as Malware by my AVG Virus program and I put it in the Virus Vault.
Then the installation of that update showed it couldn't find that flagged file and so cancelled that update.
I continued on with the other updates and installed them, BUT I wonder if that file is really Malware and whether to restore it and try that update again.
I don't want to infect my computer with a virus, but I wonder if a Windows Update would contain a contaminated file...
    HELP !!!

    Hello,
You did not say what version of the signature database is being used by your antivirus software, or the name of the threat it detected, so it is difficult to tell for certain, but I uploaded the UNCSERVER.EXE file from my ThinkPad W510 to VirusTotal, a multi-engine virus scanning service, and it reported the file as being clean.  Report here.
I suspect it is a false positive alarm, but you should check with your antivirus vendor's own technical support department to confirm.

  • Windows XP won't install drivers - "UPDATE" file missing

I have installed Windows XP SP2 successfully ( it was a bumpy road ) and have reached the step where I'm supposed to use a Leopard disc to install the necessary drivers for using Windows with the MacBook hardware (video, speakers, etc). When I insert the Leopard disc a window appears saying that the setup.exe file on the disc is newer than something or other, so I click OKAY ( the Boot Camp instructions say to agree to any windows at this point ). The window goes away, and another one immediately opens saying " the necessary UPDATE file is missing". I click OKAY and the window closes. The End. No driver installation. I can use XP, but there is no sound. Windows Movie Maker won't even launch because it says the audio components are not available. This is probably because the drivers weren't installed. I imagine there will be many other problems.... Anyone have this solution???

Here is a correction to my post. The window says: "This package requires a newer version of Windows Installer. Do you want to update the version of the Windows Installer on your system?" ( I click yes and the window goes away). The second window says: "The required resource 'Update' is missing". ( I click yes and the window goes away ).
I think maybe XP is trying to download something from the internet and maybe it can't since I probably need the drivers to do that....?

  • ITunes 10.5 won't update files properly on my iPod Touch 4G running iOS 5, how can I fix this?

I recently updated iTunes to 10.5 and my iPod Touch 4G to iOS 5, but now when I try to edit the ID3 tags or artwork of songs on my
iPod using iTunes, iTunes just says "Preparing to update files" but it never actually updates them. When I try to add songs
manually to iPod (my iPod is not set up to sync music with iTunes [see note below]), the same thing happens, with the newly added
songs appearing on the iPod library but are grayed out with a still loading icon next to them. Also, in some instances when I try
to change the artwork of all the songs on an album, it grays out the songs I tried to change, puts an exclamation mark by them,
and applies those changes to other songs on my iPod! And if I delete the songs I attempted to change it deletes the songs that
were received the artwork change. The songs that were unintentionally changed somehow got overwritten by the songs I was trying to
change while retaining the original tags of the songs that were changed. Not sure if I'm explaining this clearly so let me give an
example: song A is a song on an album on my iPod, song B is on song on a completely different album on the iPod. When I change the
artwork on song A, it somehow messes up my library and song A overwrites song B, but it keeps all of song B's ID3 tags. So I don't
know song B is song A until I play song B, at which point the ID3 tags are changed to the tags of the song A, and song B is just
disappears. This only started happening after updating to iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5. Not sure if the problem is caused by iTunes 10.5
or iOS 5, but I did search online and found someone with the exact same problem effecting their iTunes 9.1 (no iPod involved).
Can someone please tell me why this is happening and how I can fix it?
    Note:
I add songs manually to iPod because I don't keep my music on my PC and sync my music with iTunes because it would take up too
much space and I want to be able to add songs on my iPod from other computers. Once you set it up to sync music I believe it
disables making any changes to your iPod with iTunes on other computers.

okay, I don't know about the rest, but about the songs never actually loading onto your iPod, I found in another discussion how to fix that. I'm using Windows 7, so I don't know if the steps are the same, but the end result is the same. So go into your Start menu, then into accessories, right click 'Command Prompt' and click 'Run as administrator'. Then type in the following: netsh winsock reset then press Enter. After a few seconds it should tell you to to restart your computer for changes to take effect. Restart your computer, then restart iTunes, then everything should be working fine. It still takes forever sometimes to update the iPod, but eventually it will work. I've had to do this multiple times, so I'd suggest copying & pasting this solution into a notepad or Word document and saving it on your computer, so you don't have to go through the discussions again to find it. This tends to happen to me nearly every day unfortunately Hope this fixes that problem, but I'm not having any of the other problems fortunately, except for removing the artwork of the songs it updates without me asking it too. PS I think my problem may be with iOS 5, because iTunes 10.5 came out before iOS 5, and I think everything was fine before I updated my iPod, but I really don't know where the problem lies

  • How to get the update file without using Nokia Sof...

The network connection is unreliable and downloading the firmware update using PC Suite for my Nokia E90 proves difficult. Does anyone know how I can get the firmware version 300.34.84?
The trouble is Nokia's Software Updater does not accommodate any slight interruption to the connection during the update process. I will update this discussion with what version of PC Suite I have once I get that info.
    Any help is kindly appreciated

In fact, it is not Possible to get the update file without using Nokia Software Updater or you should search the net to find the update files in another place and even you get them, you can not use them with NSU.
You can Update your Device with:
1 - NSU (Nokia Software Update)
2 - FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) for FP2 devices ONLY.
    3 - Nokia Care Center
there is not other way to upgrade.
    Hope useful for u.

  • Nokia 3250 software update File!

can use DAP or any download accelerator to just download the update file, and then use the updater to update my phone soft?
when i used the updater the connection sometimes stops and there's no Resume!!!
i have to start all over again, and the update file is 61.7MB!
    another question :-D
will i loose my languages when i update?
    thanx

The NSU update will deliver a phone software (firmware) package that has the same languages that were on the device when it left the factory where it was made.
If the language has been changed after that by a "grey market" importer/reseller, then you may loose the language that is on the device now.

  • Need the iPod Updater file

With iTunes 7.0.4, it appears that the only way to get my iPod Shuffle 512GB updated is through iTunes.
I simply can't. My system does not support having, on USB ports, an external hard drive, my iPod (and iTunes) and Internet access at the same time: it freezes hard.
I need to get the iPod Updater file before starting iTunes to update my iPod (unless I can update without iTunes). It used to work like this before :-/
I tried the different solutions proposed on the Apple site like cleaning up the system to no avail. My situation is not specificaly documented.
    Any help on this?
    TIA

I worked around by bowworing an Ethernet PCMCIA card from the office. I then could access Internet and connect my iPod without freezing the laptop. I managed to upgrade the iPod! To bad there isn't a way to get the updater though.

I simply can't. My system does not support having, on USB ports, an external hard drive, my iPod (and iTunes) and Internet access at the same time: it freezes hard.

    ... okaaaaaaay ...
i can think of a workaround that might fit your circumstances. but it's a tad risky (in that it involves trying to "fix something that isn't broken").
since you've got a first gen shuffle and you're wanting to drop the 1.1.4 firmware on there, you might be able to do it by downloading and running the iPod Shuffle reset utility:
About the iPod shuffle Reset Utility
... using the utility to upgrade a shuffle isn't really what it's for. it's intended for cases in which normal restores aren't working. hence i'm a bit nervous about trying this in your case if your shuffle is otherwise perfectly functional.

  • Missing BIOS updates in Update Retriever

    Hello,
When I do a search in Update Retriever 5.00.0010 for
    Lenovo M92         2121 / Windows 7
    Lenovo M82        2929 / Windows 7
    Lenovo M82        2756 / Windows 7
A lot of updates is shown, but no Bios Updates , how come? (I'm almost sure that once I was able to see these bios updates, I have tried to rebuilt a new repository, starting from scratch but to no avail)
And searching for Lenovo T61  6458 /windows 7  shows a JP Bios but no US version.
Can anyone confirm that this is a general issue?.
    Kind Regards,

So no one has any information on how to maintain a clean repository?

  • BIOS update killed my MS-6728 Neo-2-S mainboard, please help..

    1. I successfully booted my system and installed dual boot to Win2k Server and WinXP Pro.
    2. In XP Pro, I installed basic drivers and updated the rest through Live Update 3.
    3. After installing MSI software I began experiencing lockups whenever I would try to restart (start, shutdown, restart) in XP Pro.
    4. I decide to update the BIOS. Original version was AMI 1.1.
    5. I update through live update 3 and it creates backup file AMIBIOS.ROM on a floppy diskette, no sweat I should be able to restore right?
    6. I download the 1.5x Beta BIOS and the newer update utility ADSFI708.EXE and place them on same floppy diskette as AMIBIOS.ROM (the backup BIOS).
    7. I restart computer and boot from Win98 SE boot disk.
    8. I insert the floppy with the 1.5x BIOS update and I execute the BIOS update. The update proceeds without incident. I wait an extra 30 seconds after its finished before restarting.
    9. I restart and the system BIOS screen comes up and claims there's a misconfiguration in BIOS. I hit F1 to go into setup and it has reset all the options I normally set (boot order, wether numlock is ON or OFF, etc). I set these very simple options and ONLY these options the way I like them. I have NOT tweaked voltage, timings, or anything of the nature. All settings except for simple ones like numlock on/off are set to autodetect or base settings.
    10. I exit out of BIOS and get a black screen.
    11. I restart the computer and get a black screen again. The fans on the mobo and the colored LEDs are on, but the system isn't booting.
    12. I figure no problem I've read about this and I have the AMIBIOS.ROM backup floppy handy with the 1.1 BIOS that Live Update 3 backed up for me.
    13. I shut off the computer and remove the memory. I short the CMOS clearing jumper. I turn on the computer. BIOS/CMOS should be cleared now yes?
    14. I put just 1 stick of GEIL 512mb PC3700 RAM back in and insert the recovery disk.
    15. I start computer and spam CTRL+HOME keys. Floppy drive starts to read. After a while it beeps 4 times.
16 I remove BIOS recovery disk, put both sticks of RAM in, and restart computer.
    17. Black screen still.
    18. I repeat steps 13-17 several (8+) times. I go so far as to a) Remove video card b) try different slots for RAM and c) remove the CMOS battery, all in an effort to clear whatever the problem is.
It's still not working. The PS powers up. The fans spin. The dancing colored LEDs on the mainboard fan go off. But no BIOS screen. No POST. No beeps.
Can anyone point out anything I missed or is my board dead and I need to RMA it?
    System specifications:
    Mainboard: MSI NEO-2-S (MSI 6728)
    VGA: MSI Geforce 4 TI-4200 64mb
RAM: GeiL 2x512 PC-3700 matched pair
    Power Supply: 300 W
    CPU: P4-2.4C
    No overclocking/overtiming/overvolting - stock settings
    Thanks in advance.
    Chris

Ok, maybe someone can answer this question on clearing the CMOS.
The wording in the manual was ambiguous. It sounded to me like they didn't want you to move the jumper from open to short or vice versa while the system was powered up. One should never unplug stuff while the system is powered up..
On the other hand, they may have meant to NEVER power the system up with the jumper shorted. Which was what I did.
Is it safe to use this procedure?
    1. Power down system.
    2. Remove Ram, Video card, CMOS battery
    3. Short jumper
    4. Turn system on, wait 30 sec
    5. Shut system off, unshort jumper and put ram, vga, and cmos battery back in.
Or is this what they meant:
    1. Power down system.
    2. Remove Ram, Video, CMOS battery.
    3. Short jumper, wait x seconds
    4. Unshort jumper, put back in Ram, Video, battery
    5. Turn system on
    I used the first procedure.
I'm worried the mobo may be fried now.

  • X79a-GD65 (8D) (MS-7760) - Problems after BIOS update

Long story short, I updated my BIOS the above stated board and after updating found that the board would no longer boot, I followed the instructions provided on this site to recover the failed BIOS (switched to 2nd bios, booted, entered bios update, switched over to failed bios, updated bios with good bios file). This recovered the board/bios however the machine now prompts each time stating "Something has changed, press F1 to enter setup or F2 to accept defaults". If I enter the bios I find everything is configured as I set it, even try changing something simple and saving but still getting the prompt each time. I can switch over to the other BIOS but obviously want to address this issue.
What do I need to do to get the BIOS fully restored/not prompting me every time?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Simon

  • MSI GT70 2PC Bios update (Legacy mode)

    Hi!
    I've got a GT70 2PC notebook with Win7 64bits installed, and I want to update its BIOS.
I've downloaded the last version (117 version, I think, because I haven't got RAID), but I couldn't update it, because its BIOS files are to UEFI Bios update, not the DOS version.... I haven't got the Flash.bat file to update it, only a file called "E1763IMS.117"...
    What should I do?
    Thanks a lot

    Greetings:
I need  help, i was updating the BIOS of my laptop msi gt70 2od-039us (dragon Editon2) WIN 8 then upgraded to 8.1  with this: E1763IMS.717.zip exactly as shown in pdf of site msi bios download.... I did step by Step, but in the step 12. BIOS info says: “System will power off and then power on automatically”…
The laptop, goes off, then appears black screen, cooler spins but never enter in the flash screen.
Please help me how i restart my laptop again, it’s possible or i need to buy a new motherboard?
    Thanks.
PD: I unplugged the battery CMOS and turn it on but still is in black screen. PLEASE HELP!!!!

  • BIOS update issue on Satellite Pro L40-15A - Old BIOS can't recognise EEPROM

    Hi
I'm having trouble flashing my bios.
    I have a Satellite Pro L40-15A.
The Toshiba winflash tool that comes with the bios file tells me that the 'Old BIOS can't recognise EEPROM'
I was recommended to use AFUDOS on another forum but that tells me the bios has an invalid boot block.
AMI flas for dos tells me the flash rom is write-protected??? There is no option in bios to disable it and I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to put a hardware Bios protect jumper on a laptop.
    Please help
    Thx

    Hi and thanks for reply
The 5.10 bios update is only for XP laptops, my one came with windows vista installed so I need v2.20
"old BIOS cannot recognise EEPROM" is the error message i get when i try to flash the bios with the supplied software from Toshiba

New verion of BIOS update has worked!!
