X121e USB power in standby not cut off

X121e with Windows 7 32bit, installation went flawlessly.
Latest BIOS installed. BIOS option for "USB always on" is "disabled".
Mouse and keyboard standby wakeup is disabled in device manager.
In Lenovo Power Manager, the global setting of charging during standby is disabled.
USB selective power saving is active in profile.
Yet, mouse and keyboard are still powered in standby mode; this is wasting power.
Is there anyone else seeing this issue?
I assume this is a BIOS problem. I'd like to know if there will be a fix.

Are you talking about Sleep & Charge function supported by some USB ports?
Be aware that not all USB ports supports Sleep & Charge and only the USB ports marked with an small flash sign would provide such function.
As far as I know on Satellite L50-A-160 only one USB 3.0 (on the right side) would support this USB Sleep & Charge.
The Sleep & Charge can be enabled and disabled in within the Windows.
Go to Desktop -> Desktop Assistance (in task bar) -> Tools & Utilities -> System Settings
There you should find different tabs and one of the tabs should be Sleep & Charge / Sleep & Music tab which allows you to set advanced features for sleep mod, hibernation mode and shut down mode.
Just simply move the slider to enable or disable the Sleep & Charge function.
But the sleep & charge may not work with certain external devices even if they are compliant with the USB specifications. In those cases turn the power of the computer ON to charge the device.
You should also known that when sleep & charge is enabled the USB wakeup function man not work for compatible ports.
Furthermore there is an option called Function under Battery Mode. This option can be used to enable/disable the Sleep & Charge under battery mode. It also displays the remaining battery capacity.
Move simply the slider to enable or disable this function.
By the way: read the user manual page 95. It would be useful for you.

Myth or Truth, iMac uses less power in Standby than when off

I'm sure I read this somewhere on the internet.
I'm not sure what model it was for, but I heard that the imac uses less power when in sleep than being shutdown (when still plugged into the wall)
Can anyone confirm or denigh this?

If it's powered off, it's using no power at all.
I suspect this is about the power cost of waking from standby versus pwoering up from off, and whether it makes more sense to leave your Mac in standby when out of use or whether to swticth off completely.
It depends on your usage pattern. If you leave the Mac unused for very long periods of time, it makes sense to power off, because standby uses a little power constantly. If you leave it unused for shortter periods, you probably use less power in standby.
Unfortunately, I don't have a magic number for the time period
As a rule of thumb, I'd say if it's unused for less than a day or so, standby makes more sense. There's a discussion at the link below which also fails to give a definitive answer but has some interetsing comments.

Notes cut off when printing, issue with margins

When I print a slide with notes, the notes complete cover the width of the page, flush left and right. My printer cuts the margins automatically (not a bleed), so those portions of the text in the notes gets cut off.
Any way to control the margins, left and right, when printing notes from Keynote?

Keynote print layout is a bit of a mess, and is well commented on by users, it prints differently than previous versions, eg in handouts the slide image is much smaller than previously, in grid, the slides are off the printable area on the left.
We are hoping this is fixed in the round of scheduled updates.

Keynote presenter notes cut off

Help - when I print slides with presenter notes, my notes get cut off at the end of the page. Apart from making the font really tiny (which makes it difficult when I'm presenting), is there any workaround?

I can print over 40 lines of text at 12 point if portrait is selected in the print dialogue box. There is an unnecessary blank space created by Keynote between the slide image and text but any more text than that you should use a text creation application, Edit Text, Pages, Word to print your text.

My nano 6th generation power button will not turn off

My Nano power button will not turn my I pod off anymore. It'a 6th generation.

You can either do an out-of-warranty replacement at your nearest Apple Store for $65/$75 USD depending on the size of your Nano or have a 3rd party replacement of the switch.

You may also try the Windows registry setting. Kindly be careful while editing windows registry.
Have a look at the following registry location (note that you need to invoke regedit.exe with administrative privileges in order to make any changes in this location) and ensure that the value ClearPageFileAtShutdown is set to 0 (if it is set to 1, change the value to 0).

Horrible exs24 problems..notes cut off in the middle of a sample

Hi, I have a really serious problem with mainstage and exs24. When I play long samples (strings mostly but also various sequences), sometimes the sample plays for a little while, and then all of a sudden the note gets cut off.
Its not a voices problem ´cause it often happens when i only play 1 sample.
I have seen other people around the net with this problem, but i have not seen any proper solution to the problem. If i play the sample again right after the mishap, it will play fine. Can this be hard-disk related? Or is it something with the exs24 that is playing tricks on me..?
cpu and memory looks fine, like 50%
Was wondering if maybe the disk was in some sleep mode, but then it wouldn´t play the first part of the sample, would it? Was also thinking of maybe turn off virtual memory in the exs in order to load the samples into ram, but you cant do that in mainstage i´m afraid.
I have been embarrased on stage because of this and i don´t like it.
I am desperatly looking for a solid solution to this problem.
My setup : MBP 2.4 ghz 4 gig RAM. RME fireface 400.
Harddisk: wd MyBook studio edition II

I also have this problem and I tried A LOT, I talked a lot and I read a lot and I talked a lot and I read a lot and the problem drove me crazy... After "hundred" of hours working on that I think: if you have that problem you cannot solve it with the exs. It has nothing to do with anything you know is important, that a computer has to have that he can play audio files. I'm shure you NEVER had problems with iTunes playing audio files... But the exs has.
If you just want to play samples I think inside MS there are three solutions: AUAudioFilePlayer, iTunes and GarageBand. I tried them all, you can controll iTunes and GB with AppleScripts and this are possible solutions but they are not very flexible at all.
What I found today and I tested it just for a few hours and by now it works and I tried some of my 1 or two minutes samples and they never cutted of suddenly and it's free and I just cannot believe it that my problem seems to be suddenly solved:

Power consumption standby and turned off

Hi there,
I tested the power consumption of my new Mac Pro with a watt meter while in standby mode and while turned off. In both tests I got nearly the same figures -around 35 watt.
Do you have these too or do I have a problem?

In sleep my watt meter is reporting 3 watts.
If I have allow bluetooth device to wake up computer enabled in the bluetooth settings I the watt meter reports 5 watts during sleep.
Not seeing anything when shutdown.
I have not got any usb or firewire devices connected.
Do you have any usb or firewire devices connected ?
According the the apple dev docs the Mac Pro provides power to the firewire ports during sleep and will also provide firewire power when shutdown if firewire devices were already connected.

IPod will not cut off. Yes, I've held the play button.

I can't cut my iPod off. I've held the off button for minutes, still no result.

First off, are you sure that your "hold switch is off? (located on the top of your iPod). "On" is orange, and "off" is grey-colored.
Making sure that your hold switch is off, have you tried resetting your iPod? This may take a few attempts -> Resetting your iPod
Have you also tried:
--Leaving your iPod to charge on the stand for an extra hour.
--Putting your iPod into Diagnostics Mode (reset the iPod, and as soon as the screen dims, begin to press the Select (center) and "<<" buttons to enter Diagnostic Mode). Run the KeyTest to see if your Play/pause button is even properly responding.

PXIe-1075 Power switch will not turn off chassis

Hi,
I think I am having trouble turning my PXIe-1075 chassis off with the front mounted power switch. When I press the power switch, the green LED will ficker and the PWR LED on my PXIe-8360 MXI card will flicker from green to red and then back to green. I have a PXI-1042 chassis as well that seems to turn off properly. The switch on my PXI-1042 chassis has two positions, but the switch on my PXIe-1075 only seems to have one position. I am in a spot where I will need to power off my chassis to move it occasionally. Does it sound like my PXIe-1075 chassis has an issue? Am I missing something? I also tried holding the power switch. This will cause all the installed modules active light to turn off, but the PWR light on the switch and the PWR light on the MIX card will stay the same.

The 1075 has two modes for shutdown. You can select between the modes with the 'inhibit' switch on the back of the chassis. When this switch is in the default position, the chassis will power down when you shut down the controller in the chassis (I'm not sure if it will automatically power down with the MXI connection when you shutdown the PC- I do not believe it will). When the switch is in the manual position, the chassis does not shut down with the controller and you must use the Inhibit signal on pin 5 of the Remote Inhibit and Voltage Monitoring connector. I believe your chassis is in 'Manual' mode. More information on this is available in the manual on page 2-12:
