X130e (2340-A17) wireless NIC driver

We recently received 113 X130e netbooks and when we were creating an image for them we found that we could not find the drivers for the wireless NIC.
VEN_14E4&DEV_0576 P/N 60Y3251
Is the A17 model supported? We can't seem to find it in the support section.
System Update and LTT won't install on the machine.
The 2340 drivers from the website provide 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)' in Device Manager
Using Drivermax, I backed up the driver on one of the Windows 7 Home Premium but could not restore it to a Windows 7 Professional.
We are running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
Google has failed me, and up until now Lenovo support has been excellent. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hyper V on Win 8.1 Pro - can you use a wireless nic or does it need to be ethernet

On my desktop with win 8.1 pro i installed win 8.1 pro on hyper v as we are going over this chapter in school. i got it loaded just fine but when i start it up I have no internet on the virtual 8.1 pro OS. My desktop uses a wireless nic and I'm wondering
if this is the problem. I was able to get it to work once, but when I shut it down I no longer had an internet connection on the host OS. So i went in and removed the virtual switch and that did it - now i have internet on my desktop but when i turned the
virtual machine back on, created the virtual switch again - no internet on virtual machine. I have a feeling I'm configuring something wrong - I will probably find out monday at school but decided to post here because it is bugging me!
    Any help is greatly appreciated

FYI  - you should not need to perform the wireless sharing that is outlined in the article in the link provided.
You should only need to select the wireless adapter as the physical adapter associated with your External Virtual Network.
The internet sharing that folks do is only necessary in a very small number of cases due to router issues or wireless NIC driver issues.

  • [mostly solved]RaLink RT2860 wireless NIC not working, in eeePC 1000HE

I'm having trouble getting my wireless NIC to work.
I have a clean, up-to-date system, no [testing].  I'm using the stock kernel, 2.6.30, which according to the 1000HE wiki (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Asu … 000HE#WiFi), is supposed to work out of the box.
The problem I run into with iwconfig is that it doesn't set an essid.  The essid shows as blank, then I run:
    iwconfig ra0 essid "my id"
and iwconfig ra0 again shows a blank essid.
I've tried wpa_supplicant, and it just spams CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS indefinitely (my config file is attached).
I've tried wifi radar, and it gives me errors about the network I'm trying to connect to having no AP address.
I've only tried to connect to the one network here that I have access to.  It's an unsecured university network with many APs (I think it's called roaming or something?).  Once you have an IP leased, you try to go to a website and are automatically forwarded to an authentication login page.
I've attached the output from a bunch of different commands:
    ifconfig -a:

Malstrond wrote:Mostly because Ralink just hacks their drivers together to work somehow. A module should never require files in /etc/, but they don't care. The file contains settings, ranging from packet thresholds to country selection. There is a readme file in the archive, you can change some interesting things in there, i.e. auto roaming.
The staging drivers included in the kernel have this settings file included in the module, but there have been problems with this in 2.6.30, among others, the included drivers for RT2870-based hardware, for example, can render your system unusable.
Sadly, there doesn't seem to be much effort on the side of Linux community either. Maybe it's because all the devs interested in this already bought one of earlier EEEs with an Atheros chipset.
I've got one of these cards and it works fine. I'm running 2.6.31.
I use a wpa_supplicant based connection. I suggest that you do the same, the config file is crap and it doesn't appear to accept iwconfig input.
For netcfg and this card, try netcfg 2.5 which will be out in the next 24 hours. In the meantime, you could configure your networks in a wpa_supplicant config file. Don't use a catch all like above, create a more specific one.

  • Can I turn my soon to be old Apple TV into a wireless hard drive???

Can I turn my soon to be old Apple TV into a wireless hard drive???

Exactly. That's my question? There's a 40gb hard drive about to be tossed if I were to purchase the new Apple TV. I assume there are features the new one will have that old does not...?
Either way still a good question because there is a 40gb hard drive that has just been sitting there unused. It would nice if it could be used as a data storage device.
Currently I just stream content thru the Apple TV or rent movies directly from the ATV (not at the computer and then wait for them to transfer to the hard drive)

  • Create a query in SCCM 2012 R2 for NIC Driver Version

    Hello,
Is there a way to create a query for the specific NIC driver versions with SCCM 2012 R2? For example I can do this and other descriptors for video i.e.,
    select SMS_R_System.Name, SMS_R_System.LastLogonUserName, SMS_R_System.HardwareID, SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Manufacturer, SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Model, SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER.DriverVersion, SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER.Description, SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER.VideoProcessor
    from  SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId inner join SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER on SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Model
like "HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G2" and SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER.Description like "%intel%"
Is there a script that will give the version for NICs?
    Thanks Bill

  • T440s won't sleep with wireless NIC enabled

Windows 8.1 used to allow automatic sleep on battery (after idle timeout).  It stopped working.  It will go to sleep if manually executed, but not after the idle timeout.  I've called Microsoft, Intel and Lenovo support - all COMPLETELY USELESS.  After 4 days of testing and reading forums and online posts, I've determined the issue to relate to the Intel Wireless AC 7260.  If the card is connected to an access point (any) the laptop will not automatically enter sleep.  If I activate airplane mode or disable the wireless NIC (wired NIC no impact) the laptop will go to sleep after being idle.  I have tried the driver updates, rollbocks (both Intel supplied and Lenovo), the homegroup removal (this is a domain computer never in "private network" mode anyway).  Nothing has helped other than disabling the wireless nic - which is now I use the laptop 98% of the time.  Any help/thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Maybe something heavier handed will work:
Download the latest Intel wifi driver package (apparently 17.0.5.8):
    http://www.station-drivers.com/index.php/downloads/Drivers/Intel/Wlan/PROSet-Wireless-WiFi-Software/...
Have it saved but don't install yet.
    Grab RAPR:
    https://driverstoreexplorer.codeplex.com/
Enumerate and sort by Driver Class. You should find a section under Network Adapters. Check everything Intel and Network Adapter (except the one belonging to the wired NIC; identify this by the driver version). Check Force Deletion, and then Delete Packages.
Reboot and you should have no wireless driver installed. Now attempt to install the latest 17.0.5.8 drivers.
Do back up any saved wireless network passwords as this will clear that list.

  • How to restore time machine from wireless hard drive?

I backed up my data to a wireless hard drive before I wiped my hard drive. But now I'm having trouble restoring it.
Can't restore it from time machine, as it was not fully complete.
Migration assistant asks for a password to the hard drive, which I don't know. The person in my family who bought the drive entered it, but then migration asssistant greys out continue and nothing seems to happen
I opened the hard drive myself and there's a bunch of blank files named 01 349 049 984 and such. No extension.
    Help?

The exhaustive list of backup devices supported by Time Machine consists of Time Capsule and locally connected and mounted volumes, period. Time Machine can use NAS devices, but there are many caveats including but not limited to the necessity for AFP to be running on the server. Wireless storage devices introduce yet another element of uncertainty.

Anything else, and you're a test pilot. Let Apple know how it works for you.

  • Setting up boot WIM... but having trouble setting up the correct NIC driver

I'm trying to setup a network boot with Windows Deployment Services. Pretty straightforward (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766320.aspx). Problem though is the OOTB Vista & Win2k8 boot.wim file don't include the necessary driver for the NIC card (Intel 82567LM Gigabit NIC). So I'm following these steps outlined here in the MSFT KB (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923834) but seems I'm not loading the correct driver. I looked in my w500 Vista x64 install that has a working NIC to get the working NIC INF file, but that didn't work. Anyone successfully done this? I'm sure some of the bigger organizations have... just having trouble creating a boot.wim (or modifying the one I've got) to add the correct NIC driver to continue with a PXE boot.

  • How do I use TC as a wireless hard drive?

    Hi
Im new to these forums and to mac in general.
I just bought a TC TG thinking that I can use it for both backing up as well as a wireless hard drive for my macbook pro
aparantly I know heard you can only use it for one or the other
    Is that true,anyone know?
If not is there anyway I can use lets say 500 gb for back up and the other 500 as extra storage space?
if thats not a possibility, how to i just use as a wireless hard drive?
I have already set up TC and backed up,which took almost 2 days
    Can anyone help?
Your help will be greatly appreciated

You can use it as both. In your Finder, it should appear as a networked drive in the left panel. Mount it and you'll be able to copy files to and from it, as well as delete them. And you'll still be able to use it as a Time Machine backup disk. You'll have to enable file sharing in your AirPort Utility under Disks first if it isn't already enabled. This is going from memory so there may be a few discrepancies. If anybody can correct this, please do.
You can't partition the drive though, so if you're going to use 500 GB for backup and 500 GB for other things, you'll have to manually monitor how much space is being used by the backup.

  • Using a wireless external drive to extend my iPad

I have just had a "chat" with an apple representative about a wirless hard drive as suggested by this forum yesterday and i was told that they don't work with iPads.   I have been reading all the ads and reviews for them and they are all favourable.  I tried WD helpline but they didn't manage to get to the phone!  Please, what is right?  I don' want to lay out a load of cash to find it won't do the job.  Help!!

All of these new wireless, WiFi drives are tested and reviewed using the mobile industry standard, which is either the iPhone or iPad.
That stated, the HyperDrive, while it's storage size is great, it's also the most expensive and it has to be, physically, tethered to your iPad. If you want to watch content solely on the iPad it's fine, but if you have one of Apple's AV cables to watch iPad content on the TV, you won't be able to because you won't have access to the dock connector any more because it's being used by the connected drive.
The WD drive is great as it's wireless, but it looks to be about the same size as the regular My Book drives and, even though it works over WiFi, it's not very portable.
The Seagate drive works completely over WiFi , too, but, unlike the Hyper Drive, it's only has half the storage capacity.
It'll still take awhile to fill up, though, and by that time you may want to put new content and get rid of the old by that time. The plus is that it comes with lots of charging options and, like the Hyper Drive, it has a smaller, more portable size footprint for mobile use.
These drives are all designed to be easy to use and link to.
Here are two more links for more positive reviews of both the Seagate and WD drives

  • Why can't I back up files from my iPad wirelessly to a wireless hard drive?

You can backup your iPad to iCloud wirelessly. With certain wireless hard drives there are Apps to handle them.

    Boot in safe mode.
Log in and see whether you still have the problem. If you don't, it's caused by one of your login items or a system modification that loads at startup or login.
If the problem isn't resolved that way, other possible causes are references in the iPhoto, iTunes, or iMovie library pointing to the server, and bookmarks in the Preview application
