X1600 in the 15-Inch Vs. 17-Inch

I've heard rumors that the video card in the 15-Inch MacBook Pro maybe slower than the one in the 17-Inch MacBook Pro. My question is: is that true? And if so, is it worth getting the 17-Inch for that reason?
See, I personally want a fully loaded 15-Inch because I think 17-Inches is just too big...

The card in the 15Inch in underclocked, probably due to all the heat issues with that model. The one in the 17inch is closer to the actualy manufacturer's specs, so it will most probably perform better.
The 17" isn't that big compared to the 15". Just check it out at a store and see for yourself, I think you'd be surprised.

The simplest way is to drag it across wirelessly using the 'Airdrop' application once both computers are near one another. 'Airdrop' can be found near the top, on the left hand side menu, within 'Finder'.

What is the power consumption of the 15 inch rMBP?

I have the 15 inch Early 2013 Retina MacBook Pro. Does anyone have the specs for power consumption while the laptop is charging but asleep? I ask because I have an "eco" surge protector that I'm trying to confgure but I think the rMBP uses over 15W when it is charging so I can't use the surge protector "auto shut off slave outlets" feature. Does the standard Intel HD Graphics 4000 in the 13 inch Macbook pro stand up to other graphics cards with dedicated memory ( 1GB of memory for instance)? I need a laptop for college and the Engineering program suggests a dedicated video card with minimum 1GB of video memory.

I have a Intel HD 4000 in my Mac Mini (late 2012), and it's okay for what I need it.
However:
- there were a few issues with flickering on the video output to external monitors. These were solved through a firmware update that came with OSX 10.8.3 - for the majority of the users. So for most of us (me included) this issue is solved, but it seems that certain displays / monitors don't work well with the intel HD4000, don't know if there is a pattern or a list of monitor models...
- there was an issue with the color calibration on the HDMI output. No matter how much you tried to calibrate, the results remained unsatisfying. All light colors were crushed to white, wrong contrast, ...

The same firmware update improved this a little, good enough for me, but I can imagine it's not good enough if you do graphic work and need reliable colors from your monitor. On HDMI output, the thunderbolt/MDP output is fine. So it's mainly a dual monitor setup issue.
If it's for graphic work, I'd go for a Mac Book Pro with dedicated GPU !

Suddenly I can not select anything within the top inch or so of any web page. The scroll bar arrow doesn't work at the top. I don't know what to do. I tried updating my browser but the problem still exists.

Everything worked fine on Tues. I shut down my system and then on Wed. morning, the problem appeared. Anything within the top inch or so of a webpage is unavailable to select. It is like there is an inch of the page that is dead. It is that way on every website that I visit with Firefox. Recently a problem has developed -- I can't use the top inch of the firefox window -- any buttons there cannot be activated - my cursor is able to move ovber them but can't click on them. What should I do?

Within the firefox window -- anything in the top inch or so I am unable to use. This is the same for any site. I don't know what has happened and I cannot fix it.
In that area, I can move the cursor but when I click on things I cannot activate them anymore - an example is I can't go to the shopping basket on Amazon or my account.

Fastest hard drive for the 12 inch PowerBook?

I'm upgrading my sis's powerbook, already bought 1 gig of ram to max it out, now I'm thinking of getting a new hard drive, the one currently inside is a 4200 rpm 60 gig drive, and I'm thinking thats the biggest bottleneck.
This is the 2004 version of the 12 inch, runs at 1.33 ghz, runs leopard fairly well with only 768 megs of ram, hence the reason I finally buckled down and decided that this thing needs a upgrade.
So finally to my question, what is the fastest drive possible for this computer? The options seem quite limited considering its an EIDE drive, and it needs to be 9.5mm, so from anybodies experience, can they direct me to the right drive with best performance?

Your best option may be an IDE SSD. I know these aren't the fastest SSDs out there, but I'd imagine their speed as comparable to a 7200 rpm drive. Newegg sells the 32GB SSD for around 90 bucks, which isn't a whole lot more expensive than the 5400 rpm 250GB drive. You get the benefits of a quiet drive, lower power consumption, and really fast read speed.

Is the 24 inch Apple Cinema Display the best choice for Final Cut Studio 2

I'm about to order a Mac Pro and Final Cut Studio 2 and have a question about monitor choices.
Is the 24 inch Apple Cinema Display the best choice are there non-Apple monitors that will do as good or better job with HD editing and output?

COMPUTER MONITORS bear very little on HD editing and output...especially output. They are just the monitors you use to look at your clips and your timeline. THey work for SD and HD. You really only use them to, well, as I said, see what you are doing. It would be nice to have GOOD ONES so the image looks decent. I use the Dell 24" monitors. The current one is the 2408. Nearly half the price of the Apple 23" displays...and really, the only Apple 23" that exists connects via their new connector, so you need a new MacPro or MacBook pro...or some adapter, to get it to work. And they are not worth the extra money, in my experience.
Samsung monitors are also good.

Attach the charger and start charging the battery to 100%. The good news is that after you have connected the charger, you may start using the MBP as well.
