Please some body help me on how to restore my contacts from OVI sync. My phone is X2-00

If you have previously synced your contacts (e.g. from your old phone) to Nokia online service, you can sync the contacts back to your Nokia X2-00 in the following way:
1) Menu
2) Settings
3) Sync and back up
4) Sync with Ovi
5) Rest. from Ovi
6) Select Contacts
7) Done

My old phone broke and I am having trouble figuring out how to restore my contacts on my "new" phone (LG ENV2 Black). Apparently the phone is so old that I am unable to install Backup Assistant on it, which sucks. I have all my old contacts saved on my computer as a CSV and also another copy on a micro SD as VCF. I have tried moving the CSV from my computer to my ENV2 via both Bluetooth and USB cable, but had no luck with either of those. I also tried to pop the micro SD into the ENV2, and although I can load all my old pictures/videos/etc. from the micro SD, I do not seem to be able to restore the contacts from card. I know there has to be some way to manually transfer these files; the contacts are still on my old phone as well; but I was unable to use the transfer wizard for that because my old phonedoesn't seem to be supported by that (Pantech Jester 2)

Google a program called bitpim, that might do what you want. Never used it but it's been talked about on the forums. Other than that you might have to input them manually. Mary

E71 V400 How to remove Ovi Contacts

Hi,
I have a problem with my E71. Contacts are opening wery slow (about 3 sec). I've heard that it is associated with Ovi Contact.. So, how to remove Ovi Contacts?

Sorry, I meant in Contacts. Once in the Contacts list press Options then Settings. In there you can set the default contacts list which on my phone is set to Phone.
I did have a problem with this once I set it to contacts because it kept asking me to sign in to Ovi contacts, and you may get this rather than the above.
I can't remember how I got around it but will recreate it if I need to

How to restore iPhone contacts

The "Address Book" folder in the Application Support became corrupted, preventing me from sync'ing my contacts. Adrian Issot and Lawrence Finch were kind enough to offer ideas & investigate solutions that solved the initial problem. However, in so doing, I lost the contacts that were added to my iPhone over the last month. My entire MacBook Hard Drive is backed up in Time Machine, so I would think that I should be able to restore those contacts from a recent backup.
Can someone give me guidance on how to do this?

Please restore OVI contacts lost after synchronisa...

I had a number of contacts on OVI site, while using a previous phone. Now I have synchronized N8, which also used MS Exchange sync engine. And apparently all my contacts are gone, both from the phone and from OVI.
There should be a back-up of OVI - could you please restore my contacts? The faulty synchronization was performed today 13/10 at about 22:50.

Unfortunatelly, I don't have an answer but rather a similar although a bit more serious problem. After firmware uprgrade on my E90 restore goes fine to the point where the phone informs me at the end that it must restart. After doing so I'm on square one, having to enter the region, date and time, finding myself with all restored data lost again. I don't seem to find any answer to this so I'm stuck with a virtually useless phone.
Any ideas anyone? Thx in advance.

Yes phone will automatically backup to icloud when on wifi and phone is charge, but your phone storage was full so it stop backing up.

Was Outlook empty? If so, that's why your contacts were deleted from your phone. However, your contacts should be stored in outlook. Contacts on the iphone are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer.
Do this: If you have not synced since your contacts were deleted, you most likely can restore them from your iphone backup. Disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected under preferences in itunes(under the edit menu if using windows). Put one unique contact in Outlook, this entry can be fake, that doesn't matter, the important point is that Outlook not be empty. Connect your phone, itunes running, DO NOT SYNC, right click in the device pane & select restore from backup. If prompted to create another backup, decline. When finished, verify your contacts have been restored to your phone. If so, sync to restore your itunes content, you'll get a popup regarding your contacts asking to merge or replace, select MERGE.

Contacts are meant to "live" on your computer in a supported app like Outlook, or live in the cloud, like Google or iCloud. The phone is merely a device to keep a portable copy of your contacts with you. Have you not been using your phone as designed?

I just realize that my contacts are not being updated from my Gmail account. When I went to see my Gmail account settings the Contacts icon was missing from my iPhone Gmail account. When I called the Apple support I was advised to delete the account and recreate it again. I deleted the account, restarted the phone and then hard reset the phone. No luck. The icon is still missing!

After the hard reset you need to perform first a Software Update.
Download from Ovi Store website the sis installer of WordPress and install it on phone (wordpress install also Nokia Smart Install and all QT and PIPS components)
Launch Ovi Store on phone: will be donloaded the sis installer and now will works without any error
Reinstall Social_1_2_update.sisx (there are a working link on this forum), because the preinstalled one has some grafic error (missing buttons)
Download again language and regional maps via OVI Suite.

Very well said. I have personally tried all methods after hard resetting my n8 and nothing has worked so far for me. I have installed Nokia QT package and followed all versions of various instructions on youtube to try and get back QT, QT mobility, webkit etc etc etc, but Ovi store wont install still. Keeps giving "Unable to install" error. Have even tried the Wordpress installation and even though you get QT webkit and nokia installer, Ovi store wont install still. The only workable (but possibly dangerous) method that seems to be working for others is using to flash the n8 yourself. But there are reports of bricked phones as well so have not tried this method myself. I'd rather have a working phone without Ovi store.
But one thing to note is the time it is taking nokia to address this issue, even though this issue was reported to them directly after n8 got released in 2010. Firmware v13 has been released and it didnt solve this problem either. Now the new leader of Nokia is stating that symbian is becoming increasingly harder to work with in terms of bringing new functionality to this ever growing and competitive mobile business. Makes us wonder that the inevitable will occur, i.e. Nokia dropping symbian finally and moving on to Android etc. Now that would be the biggest surprise for all of us who own Symbian^3 devices. Still waiting for PR 2.0 Nokia, if someones listening that is.............

Hi I hope someone can help me?
It seems I must have changed the settings of synchronisation with PC Suite, because it suddenly deleted quite a bunch of contacts from my phone!
Before (unfortunately long ago) I know I synchronised by combining both the PC content and the Phone content.
Is there a detailed report to get anywhere in the depths of either phone or PC showing not only names, but also the numbers of the contacts deleted?
I am totally frustrated and could like to eat my phone .....
PLEASE anyone - is there any help?

If you search on the web, there are software programmes which claim to recover deleted data from the phone memory.The extent of success of this recovery will depend on the amount of data saved on your phone after deletion, which gradually ovewrite deleted data and become permanently deleted.You can always contact SE for more information and advice. I don't know about recovering deleted data from PC suite.

I have really been searching but have been unable to find a work around for this. I am unable to play any OVI music on my phone as it searched for a license and ends up saying that this is not my registered device.
