Is your phone showing availability of the Update ? If not check thru' the Nokia Suite . If the Nokia Suite also do not show then the reason is ..availability of update depends on Product Code / Region. Also, for Network locked devices, update is possible only after an approval from the Operator. Hence, even if Nokia has released an update, it need not be for your particular device. Under such scenario, only thing you can do is wait and keep checking ...

  • N95 software updater download problems

    Hi.
With the N95 Nokia Software Update, the phone is recognized and the downloading starts (about 111MB), once the download reach more than 20%, it fails and the connection is lost.. Do you have the firmware downloadable or something easier?

You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps..
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

  • When does Software Update download in the background?

I work at a school with about 150 Macs. About 50 of them are new imacs with Leopard installed. The default setting is to have software updates download in the background. We have turned that off as 50 machines downloading a 100 meg file at the same time could cause some traffic jams, correct? We download the updates once and install using ARD. My question is, if we forget to turn one off, when does it download? As soon as it is connected to the internet? We have our computers turning on in the morning at 8 and shutting of at 6 pm. When would the software update automatically download in the background? Thanks in advance.

I have always noticed that when I boot my machine, software update checks and if anything is available it will download. I have it set to check daily, and I shut my machine down nightly.
Also it tells you the last time it checked in the preferences.
    Software Update > Preferences
That should tell you your answer for sure.

    Hi,
Are you connected to a Wi-Fi network? If not this may be the reason why.

  • Software updates download is very  slow

Today I downloaded 2 software updates; OSX 10.9.5 and Safari 7.1.  The download speed was very slow and erratic.  The activity monitor showed that the process "softwareipdated" was receiving data at anywhere from 1 to 25 kbs.  My DSL connection is never very fast but typically receives 130 to 150 kbs.  Other downloading such as streaming music or video has been normal.  Any ideas why this happened and could this be a symptom of some more fundamental problem?

It may not be exclusive to Verizon but considering that Apple updates are severely affected on my system, yet my next door neighbor with Comcast has no problems whatsoever, I am 100% confident that Verizon is playing a role in my woes.  In fact, I updated my wife's iPad to iOS 8 OTA on a relative's Xfinity wifi just to get it completed.  Took me about an hour to complete.  I came back home, less than a quarter mile away to my lovely FiOS and boom, 15-20 hour download estimate on my rMBP to update my iPad Mini (which I'm saving for last or at least until this issue is resolved).  Changing my DNS seemed to work briefly on my rMBP but less than a day later my speeds were back to being slow as molasses. At least I had the opportunity to update both my rMBP and iPad Air before the speed took a nosedive again.  Just wish I had updated the Mini too.  I figured the problem was resolved and I'd get a chance to update it later.
Judging by several posts I found online (links to two examples posted below), I see I'm not alone in thinking something funny is going on between Apple and Verizon.  I won't refute your claim that it is also affecting other providers, because your experience sounds pretty close to mine, but everyone I've encountered with problems in this area has FiOS. Folks around me who subscribe to other ISP's seem fine.  The link below to the discussion on dslreports (2nd link) is particularly telling because I read it after trying various troubleshooting steps and was surprised by the number of people who posted in that thread that had identical issues and troubleshooting experiences as me.  Several people also mentioned that the problem disappeared after they connected to Apple update through a VPN.
I assumed it was primarily on the East Coast because I have relatives in the West and Midwest with FiOS who have not had any issues.
I called Verizon but that was about as useful as your experience.  They didn't even bother pointing fingers.  They simply said "if everything else works then I'm getting what I pay for".  I promptly replied that as an almost exclusively Apple household, I am most certainly not getting what I pay for if I can't upgrade my software, apply security patches or use my Apple streaming devices.  Unfortunately, no one seems interested in fixing the issue, so we're left to find our own solutions.
And that's exactly what I did roughly an hour ago.  Comcast will be out to swap my equipment and service in 14 days.  Problem solved... At least I hope.

  • Software updates downloads timing out

I have a 17 in. MPB bought in August 2007 and Im having a problem downloading certain firmware and software updates. they time out...Do I need a faster network? or is there a setting that I can expand my download times? Im thinking about going to at least an N network anyway I have a G right now, will that help?

The speed of your Wi-Fi network isn't the problem - even 802.11b wireless is faster than most home internet connections, and even the fastest home internet (with premium pricing from the ISP to match) is slower than 802.11g. The only advantages with N wireless are for local file transfers (e.g. Time Machine backups) and increased range.
The problem may still be with your ISP/internet connection (just not the one between your computer and your router). Have you tried doing the download(s) elsewhere? Have you tried applying only one update at a time?

  • Can't Restart Computer After Software Update Download.

I have a PowerBook G4 which I had upgraded back in December to Leopard. After downloading software updates a couple of days ago, I tried to restart my computer and all I got was the Apple logo and the spinning gear. I brought my computer into the local Apple Store and the tech tried to archive and install from an external drive and the computer said there wasn't enough memory to install Leopard though the tech said I had enough RAM installed but that the computer wasn't reading the memory available correctly and that I needed a new memory board at a cost of $350.
I had a similar thing happen in December 2007 after I downloaded software updates. I brought my computer into the Apple Store. It seemed there was a "kernal panic." Everytime the tech deleted something it kept coming back "to life" and taking up too much "space" though this was different than not having enough RAM (I'm not terrifically computer saavy). I left the computer there for them to look at and a few days later due to whatever they did it was working again.
When dealing with the current problem a few days ago the tech said it was purely coincidental that the computer stopped working immediately after I downloaded software updates on two different occasions, but I found that very difficult to believe. I put in the installation disc that came with the computer and was able to get through the first steps of installing Tiger without actually beginning to install it, and I saw that the hard drive only had 49mb free and the tech said I needed 51mb to install Leopard. I called an Apple Care tech on the phone and asked if I could reinstall Tiger so that I could at least access the internet and retrieve my emails until I could get the Leopard issue resolved. He said doing so would delete Leopard and all of the documents I had done on it.
I mentioned I used to have my computer set up so I could access both OS9 and OSX on my computer and asked if that was now possible with Tiger and Leopard. He said I would need to go into the Apple Store and have them hook up my computer via firewire to another computer and boot up in target mode so that I could possibly delete some of the files taking up the memory and have enough room to install Leopard, or failing that could at least partition the hard drive and install Tiger until I could get the Leopard issue resolved.
I tried the safe boot someone suggested in a previous thread on this topic, but the computer would not boot up. Does anyone have any other ideas to solve this problem without taking the computer into the Apple Store? And how can I prevent this from happening during software updates in the future? I did not have the option with this last software update to choose only one download at a time. Software Update just started downloading what seemed to be one large update.
Thanks in advance for any help or illumination anyone can provide.

    Kristin,
I'm having similar problem after upgrade on my imac. Hangs with white screen after logging out. Have to press/hold pwr button to shut off, then press to turn on.
I have a LaCie porsche ext hard drive attached by usb. Should I unplug this and try reinstalling mavericks? I didn't remove ext hd during the upgrade, was I supposed too?
    Thanks,
    chris

  • Apple Software Update download is SLOW...

Hi everyone, I've been experiencing VERY slow download speeds from Apple's Software Update throughout the weekend. I'm on a DSL line, no firewalls, and am getting normal performance at other sites/servers, but downloads from Apple are coming in at sub-dialup speeds.
The downloads start fine, then quickly taper off from 120 Kbps or so down to 5-6 Kbps, within just a few seconds. The problem occurs whether I use Software Update or try to access a file directly from Apple's Support Downloads page. iTunes app updates seem to have the same issue.
Any suggestions would be most welcome!

I'm not quite sure exactly what fixed the issue, but I did a complete reset and reconfig on my Linksys router and set up the connection to my ISP/DSL provider, and it seems to have improved. Never did track down the specific issue, though. I'd be curious if anyone is able to identify the cause.
When I was troubleshooting, I switched to a direct DSL connection via my Ethernet port, and got full speed downloads from Apple, so the wireless connection was definitely the issue for me....
    Good luck all!

  • N810 Update Download Problem

Last weekend I updated my N810's software to the latest version. To do so, I downloaded the update wizard to my Windows XP machine, fully charged the battery on the N810, hooked my N810 to the PC with the USB cable, and ran the wizard.
The first thing the wizard did was to start downloading the new version of the software. THIS TOOK IT ABOUT 8 HOURS (on my Comcast broadband connection). Meanwhile, the battery was running down on my N810, so I improvised and plugged in the recharger. I waited until the wizard's download was about done and unplugged the charger (because the instructions said the software update should happen without the charger being plugged in).
The wizard went ahead and updated my N810. When that was done, I tried to boot my N810. Hit the button, the screen flashed on, and then it flashed off. No boot. I figured I had "bricked" the device.
But then it occurred to me that maybe this was happening because the battery was low. So I charged it for awhile, and then it booted up just fine in the new version of the software.
So it worked out OK for me, but:
If the wizard has to download the N810 software, it would be a good idea to have the wizard do that as a SEPARATE STEP, BEFORE THE N810 HAS TO BE PLUGGED IN. That would allow a full charge on the N810 as the update process started, instead of after waiting (8 hours!) for the wizard to download the software.
It would also be nice if Nokia would invest enough in server capacity so that the wizard's download of OS2008 did not take 8 hours!
I hope that by posting this story here, the appropriate people at Nokia will find out and make some changes. I came really close to bricking my N810, which I've only had for a few weeks. It's within its warranty period, so this would have cost Nokia some $$$. It would be better to reconfigure the software update process to avoid this problem, by making it a two-step process.

The logic behind requiring the N800 plugin first is to find out what firmware is currently installed.
One might wonder why the hardware design does not use the power available on the USB cable, like most MP3 players do. One might also wonder why the updater is so slow at downloading when the browser on the same computer & same network connection downloads in minutes, and why they don't make the approach for selecting a file on your computer a lot clearer. This could be blamed on the phone mentality - "CDMA has bite-sized transactions, that's life" - except the N800 could download the d***ed file over wifi faster than the updater on the PC.
And there's a thought - why can't the N800 update itself as long as there's enough room on an inserted flash card for the firmware file? (Can't erase the main processor flash and then expect the update file to still be there.) That should work just fine with the power adapter in.

  • Software Update permissions problem

Ok, I'm trying to do the latest software update, but it's telling me:
The update... could not be verified and expanded correctly.
Make sure you have permission to write to /tmp/501/TemporaryItems/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate, then try again.
I've done all the things listed on this page:
    http://www.macosx.com/content/faq.php/q12571/Permissions-Error.html
with the exception of booting from the install disk and repairing the disk.
    Here's what the console says:
2006-03-06 20:39:17.930 Software Update[416] Error verifying file with signature /tmp/SoftwareUpdate.dS17xs/signature
2006-03-06 20:39:17.934 Software Update[416] session:itemDidFail:SecUpd2006-001Pan-1.0 (Make sure you have permission to write to /tmp/501/TemporaryItems/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate, then try again.)
Any ideas short of repairing the disk with the install cd? I have them packed away and I'd have to dig them out, that's why I haven't already.
Could it be a corrupted download of the update?
    Powerbook 1Ghz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

The message "Error verifying file with signature" implies (to the best of my knowledge) that the download is corrupted. However, I am not totally convinced that that is really the problem. This message has shown up at different times for other users and it has never been very clear what the problem is. (There might be multiple problems which can give this message.) Anyway, repairing your disk would be a good thing to try. Another possibility would be to go directly to Apple's software download site and get the Security Update. See if that installs. If not, can you get the download on another computer, preferably with a different internet connection? If so, copy the .dmg file onto a flash drive or a disk and then transfer to the computer with the problem. See if you can install that .dmg file.
If none of these works, post back - there are more things to try.

  • Nokia C7 (059D0B0) software update package problem...

    Hi,
I was helping my aunt to update her C7 (RM-675) model. I tried to help her by installing the PR1.2 update first through SW Update as it showed up there. I managed to download the file with size of almost 7000kb through Wi-Fi on the phone.
When the phone requested for a restart, the screen went white and a word "Updating" showed up. However, within ten seconds, there's a message showing "Restarting the phone" on the white screen.
Phone booted into the homescreen and a message popped out saying "Phone not updated. The software package is not compatible with your phone. Please check with your local service provider".
That didn't make me give up. I went to try again using USB connection to Nokia OVI Suite. The system checked there's an update of PR1.2 and I chose to update it. At first, the system requested for a phone backup and so I waited for it to finish backing up the phone. Later, I downloaded the PR1.2 software update with the file size of 175mb. When finished downloading, there's an error message showing up "Something went wrong". The system suggested me to restart the Nokia OVI Suite and then after several attempts, I couldn't detect the updates anymore. The result returned with "No updates available".
I went to try my luck on *#0000# and check for updates. I could detect v22.014 update was available for download with the file size of 25000kb+. Again, I finished downloaded it and phone requested for a restart and it took me to the white screen and the same word "Updating" appeared on the screen again. I thought this time finally I could update to Symbian Anna. Within ten seconds, the phone got rebooted and went to the homescreen again showing up with the same message of  "Phone not updated. The software package is not compatible with your phone. Please check with your local service provider".
The phone product code was 059D0B0. She bought this phone in Malaysia from a local dealer.
I checked the product code variant and this variant is from Spain, I wondered? The latest update for this variant is only 014.002 which I checked on the Nokia official website and still I could detect Symbian Anna update on OTA on the phone. Can the person in charge please check what is wrong with the situation that I'm having? BTW, we're from Malaysia.
    Thank you very much.
    Bernard

I also had problems with the upgrade to Symbian Anna.
My carkit didn't work, telephone went off and on frequently, etc.
Nokia helpcenter told me that my carkit should be upgraded with
new firmware and that had to try to reinstall Symbian Anna.
I tried to reinstall Symbian Anna a few times but nothing worked.
    Now I solved the problem!!!!!
    - Make a backup of your files, pics, video's, etc.
    - Put your phone back in the factory settings
    - sofware update via Wifi or LAN
    - Installs Symbian Anna 1/2 en 2/2
EVERYTHING WORKS FINE NOW!!!!  also my carkit......
    applause for Nokia helpcenter.............NOT!!!!
It will only take about 10 minutes to configure your telephone
and maybe some stuff from your backup.
Tip: put as much as you can on the extra memory card,
I think most you have it in your phone.

  • Software Update download lock up

I've tried 3 time to download the latest GB Software Update. Every time my PowerBook G4 locks up. I can move the cursor but that it. I can't click on anything and I can't force Software Update to quit. There were several other updates when I checked and I was able to get the rest with no problems.
Anyone else have this problem or an idea of what's going on?

I hate to ask (but have to because it's come up so many times) but what version of GB are you running right now?
If it's not GB3 (the reason I'm asking), then you have to purchase iLife '06 to be able to update to GB3 to 3.0.4.
If it is GB3, then carry on and ignore this post.
