X2-10GB-LX4 Mode Conditioning Patch or Not 62.5micron Fiber
I keep reading different things across the web. We are swapping out our SUP 720's with the newer VSS Sup 720's for the VSS technology. During the process we are going to start bringing 10Gb in. We have an existing FDDI (62.5 Micron MM) fiber plant. We purchased these with the X2-10GB-LX4 fiber modules designed to do 300m over 62.5 Micron fiber... Do we need a mode conditioning patch cord on each end? It would seem Cisco says yes or use the GBIC over single mode? I thought this was a multi-mode X2 module... I'm quite confused!!!
If you use the X2-10GB-LX4 transciever with 62.5 micron MMF, you need a Mode Conditioning Patchcord (MCP), part number CAB-GELX-625= or similar, on each end.
The -LX4 module it designed for MMF. In order to get a 10G signal through 300m of multimode fiber (which was originally designed for short, low bit rate paths) the LX4 module engineers used 4 coupled laser transmitters to send the information through the fiber. The Mode Conditioning Patchcords focus this laser light into the optimum section of the multimode fiber's core, so that it can reach the distant receiver and be successfully decoded.
This module, without the use of the MCPs, can be used on singlemode fiber (SMF). But, this module is more expensive that a standard SMF transceiver (LR or LRM) due to its use of 4 lasers and the WDM multiplexing integrated into the transceivers.
Does this help at all?

SFP and Mode Conditioning Patch Cable
Is it safe to assume any SFP designed for single mode fiber (i.e., MGBLH1) can work with multi-mode fiber if using a mode conditioning patch cable?
It should work. The "mode conditioner" adds a loss in your optical link, typically 2 db.
If you want be sure you must do a link budget.

XENPAK-10GB-LX4 and X2-10GB-SR
Hi all, has anyone connected a FO using 10GB-SR and a XENPAK-10GB-LX4 gbic, could we have a problem if we do so for a cable distance of 80 to 120 meters.
thks in advace.
MarioX2-10GB-SR transceiver module for MMF, 850-nm wavelength, SC duplex connector while the 10GBASE-SR X2 transceiver module for MMF, 850-nm wavelength, SC duplex connector supports link lengths of 300m on standard Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) grade multimode fiber (MMF). To ensure that specifications are met, the transmitter output should be coupled through a mode conditioning patch cord. For additional information on mode conditioning patch cord requirements please see: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps5455/product_bulletin_c25-530836.html.

Mode conditioning cables for MMF.
Hi,
I have a building on campus, which is connected to my core switch over obsolete MMF (the link is approx 500m, but I can't indentify what type of fibre cable it is). Recently I upgraded core switch from 4006 to the new 4506E. In the 4006 I used GBIC SX modules on both ends, but after the upgrade I can't use those anymore. It seems that I need SFP LX/LH (cisco part GLC-LH-SM) on the core side and GBIC LX/LH (cisco part WS-G5486) in the access switch. Could you advice if I need mode conditioning cables to make it work? I figured that for my set up I'd need 1x LC to ST (core to patch panel) and 1 ST to SC (patch panel to switch). Help please...
thanks,
formanI have question regarding your network.
1) Are you planning on using the installed “obsolete MMF” that you were using with the 4006 switch or is there some other fiber you will be using (what type)?
If you are using the original “obsolete” MMF, then you should be able to install a GLC-SX-MM SFP in the 4506E and connect to the original SX GBIC in the access switch.
If you will be using the original "obsolete" MMF with the 1000Base-LX/LH transceivers, then you will need a mode conditioning patch cord (MCPC) at each end. These cables are available from many suppliers. Below is a link to a vendor that sells MCPCs that have the ST connectors you need

X2-10GB-LX4, minimal distance - could I use singlemode patchcord?
I need to connect two 6506 with X2-10GB-LX4, they reside in adjacent racks, so the patch cord length is no more than 10 meters. The X2-10GB-LX4 documentation is not clear about SMF ranges, it only notes that
"Another alternative for short reaches within the same location is to use a single-mode patch cable. There will be no saturation over single-mode fiber. Please note the 10GBASE-LX4 devices can reach up to 10km over single-mode fiber as per compliance to IEEE.".
The MMF notes are much clearer, they say I can use OM2 MMF with mode conditioning patchcords and 5db 1300nm attentuators, also I could use OM3 MMF with same attentuators, but that's the configurations I'd prefer to avoid.
So could I just get an SMF patchcord and plug in to both tranceivers? Have I need to use attentuators or whatever else on such kind of link?According to the documentation and the specifications, if you use SMF patch cables, you can plug the two LX4 transceivers together without any attenuators or mode conditioning patchcords. The maximum transmit power specification (-0.5dBm) of the LX4 transceiver is equal to the its maximum receiver input specification (-0.5dBm).
The use of the LX4 transceiver for this short distance application is a very costly solution. The SX over MMF would be more economical. -
Long Haul Mode-Conditioning MultiMode GBICs?
We have a fairly large legacy installation of Catalyst 3500s interconnected with 62.5 MMF. Most of the links more than 200m or so have these old Allied Telesyn EX-1002 "range extenders" which are alleged to be able to run up to 2km over MMF without the use of mode conditioning cables. And they do seem to be work as stated, we hve a couple runs just shy of 1km and they have been staying up.
The EX-1002s are starting to die off and I can't find a similar product. Actually, I can't find any technical information at all on the EX-1002, they say "1000-baseX" and seem to be longwave. Since they are said to operate at 2km, is mode conditioning built-in to the device?
The only other way around this is to use generic LX/LH GBICs and mode conditioning cables, which are very expensive. Or maybe just buy some EX-1002s on Ebay?
But, is there a GBIC available that is Catalyst 3500 compatible that can do long-haul multimode gigabit?
Thanks,
-Wiley Sanders
St Marys College of CAAt the risk of bumping this topic too late, thanks for all the replies.
We have got everything working, but have not yet bought any mode conditioning cables. It seems to be cheaper for me to fiddle around with randomly swapping GBICs and patch cables, than systematically installing mode conditioning cables on all our links. :-(
A few observations:
- We have 1 or 2 links in the 300 - 400m range operating consistently on 62.5μ MMF with an LX GBIC on one end an an Allied EX-1002 "1000baseSX to 1000baseX" converter on the other (the "1000baseX" is long-wave. don't know if it's 1300 or 1310nm.)
- We have several links in the 300 - 500m range operating consistently on 62.5μ MMF with Allied "range extenders" at each end. We will replace these with LX GBICs and mode conditioning cables as the Allied devices die off.
- We have quite a few SX links operating in the 200 - 300m range, 1000baseSX to 1000baseSX. Occasionally we have had problems getting these to link up with a GBIC on one or both ends. As you would expect from the technical description of mode dispersion this is hit--and-missand randomly dependent on combinations of GBIC and patch cable. SFP-based SX links seem to link up more reliably at distances over 200m. (Perhaps because the tolerances are more precise and/or the SFPs are new and not old GBIC that have been sitting in some network admin's desk for 5 years.)

How to Manually Fix Updates on Adobe Photoshop CS6 (from 13.0.3 to 13.0.6) on Mac with Retina Display |
Basically, all you have to do is update the Application Manager (if your installation was like mine, I was still on v.6... it's up to v.9 now. Go here for the update: Adobe - Adobe Application Manager : For Macintosh : Adobe Application Manager and run it... when done, launch Photoshop and check for updates.
This is amazingly idiotic, I must add -- how does App Manager NOT update itself through the update process??? -

This morning I opened firefox as usual and found that a sidebar for bookmarks on the left side of this page. I did not request this to open and I want it removed from my computer. I do not like the way it uses up the space on the page. I have tried to open firefox in safe mode but his did not clear it. If I can not remove this sidebar I will want to close firefox.
There should be a little 'x' Close button in the top right corner of the sidebar.
Alternatively, Ctrl + B will close it too. -
I try to insert some images on a website but the images are not in the right color mode. I do not know what to do? and also I have 1200 images to insert so I can not change one after one. So I need to set up an action, but I donot know how to do it... Thanks
What is the problem specifiaclly?
If the images are intended for web use I would recommend converting them to sRGB which could be done with Edit > Convert to Profile or with File > Save for Web, but as including a Save step in Actions and applying them as Batch can sometimes cause problems I would go with regular converting.
You could also try Image Processor Pro.

EDI Error : Condition EDI1 is not allowed as item condition
Hi EDI Gurus,
Right now I am getting the error while creating a Sales order through IDoc.
"Condition EDI1 is not allowed as item condition"
Clarify a few things to me:
1. Where to pass the Customer Expected Price on the IDoc.
2. How to maintain pricing Condition EDI1. (If it is necessary for processing of sales order)
Please clarify these two things.
Thanks,
MattI ran V/O8 transaction. There were a bunch of procedures listed in it.
I was not sure which procedure I should look for EDI1 pricing condition.
I checked RVAA01 (Standard) - there are two conditions EDI1 and EDI2.
I am not sure what I should do. Whether they are already configured or not I am not sure.
If they are already configured, why is it giving error in EDI process.
MxG,
Please enlighten me.
Thanks,
Matt -

Condition Type NAVS not determined for Goods PO
Hi all,
I am working on SRM 5.0 and R/3 4.6C.The problem im facing is for the tax condition determination for PO for Goods type which replicated from SRM to PO .
In case of Service PO,the conditions are determined correctly and can be seen in the PO print out. However In case of a goods PO,if i goto conditions tab in ME23N for the PO,the conditions (NAVs) are not determined as well as they cant be seen in PO print .
The config on R/3 side is Correct as in case of manual PO(PO created directly in R/3),the conditions are determined correctly.
Now when i debuuged the BAPi "BAPi_PO_CREATe1",i observed the following:
If i chnage the field PO_PRICE in the table POITEM to "1",then conditions are determined corretcly for the PO.However by dfault, the value for this field comes to "2".
This field is nothing but indicator of the price i.e. 1 for Gross and 2 for Net.
Can anybody explain me the link between this price and condition types determined in PO.
Thanks.Check out SAP Note 580225 - Purchasing BAPIs: Conditions and pricing
Hope it helps -
Header condition type value not displayed in sales order output
Hi gurus,
I have observed a strange issue regarding a header condition in a sales order.
we have a set up like following:
1. If the Header condition XXXX is used in sales Order then this value should be printed on sales order output.
2. If the Header condition mentioned in above point is not maintained in sales order it should print the total price of all line items.
Though i have maintained the header condition value in Sales Order Header its not displayed in SO output.
That is , I have a sales order and it has one HEADER condition type entered with 3500 USD.
In fact this value is used for some business purpose and is being printed on the sales order output for a specific output type.
But where as in a sales order this header condition value is not getting printed on the output though I am using same data as of the sales order which is having the header condition value printed on its output.
According to business,we must have the header condition value printed on sales Order output.
Please suggest how to proceed.
Thanks in advance. Not sure if you are using costom smartform to print invoice, if yes then ask developer to debug and find the root cause and fix it.
You might need to give him condition when it shuld be printed and when not.
You can take reference of another output type for which it is printing
