X200, no sound on docking station on Windows7

Hi, using windows 7 my sound output at the docking station is not working anymore. when i plug in a speaker to it, it mutes the internal speaker of my X200, but there is no sound coming out of the speakers and windows does not recognize that i plugged in a speaker. when i plug in a speaker to the audio jack on the laptop directly, however, it works and windows also recognizes that i plugged it in.
is anyone experiencing the same problem?

Just a shot in the dark here, but, have you tried putting the jack for the speakers into both of the possible receptacles (the one on the laptop itself, and the one on the docking station)?  You might want to consider permuting the four possible combinations of jack location and speaker vs. headphone software selection.
A few years back, I had a T42p that would give me external sound output from the jack on the laptop itself, but it flat-out refused to give me external sound output from the jack on the back of the mini-dock.  That was when I was using XP.  I never did find a solution to the problem, but by permuting the different hardware and software combinations, I was able to find a satisfactory workaround.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried resetting the PMU?
I'm not optimistic that this will help any more than the procedures you've already tried, but it won't hurt to try.
Do you still have your OS 9 installation? If so, try booting into OS 9 and see if the problems with the audio are happening there, too. If so, you can bet it's a hardware problem.
How big is your hard drive and how much space remains available on it? If you don't have your OS 9 installation in order to check out whether it's a hardware problem and you have enough available hard drive space, you may want to try an Archive and Install of the OS in order to make sure it isn't an OS X system-wide problem. If that doesn't do it, you could back up your hard drive and restore your software.
All of this may just be spinning your wheels, but it's all stuff you can try before shelling out a lot of money for repairs.

  • TS2771 No sound when i connect ipod to docking station?

Can anyone help please, when i connect ipod to docking station i have no sound?

    Did it work before?
Does the manufacturer say it will work with your model iPod and iOS?
    Does it charge?
Is the iPod fully seated in the dock?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Why do I have sound only in one headphone, stereo and docking station?

Why do I have sound only coming out of one side of headphone, car, stereo and docking station when playing itunes?

Try cleaning out the headphone jack with a cotton swab.

My ipod sounds as if it has interference when on docking station....3 other apple devices work with no such problems, i.e a nano. a classic and 2 separate iphones    so the problem doesn't seem to be the docking station...I have been given 2 reolacement ipods and the sound persists....it is obviously the connection.....as before downloading any data on the new ipod I docked it and the noise was present ....mairiskye....

    - Is it a 4G iPod? That model sometimes mates poorly with dock because the configuration of the iPod by the dock connector is different that other devices. Thus, make sure it is fulld/seated in the dock.
    - Have you brought the iPod and dock to the Genius at the an Apple store.

  • No sound when connected to docking station(s)

I use my Thrive tablet connected to Bose computer speakers for pretty impressive stereo setup. This works fine when I am connected directly to the Thrive via the 3.5mm earphone jack, but when I use a docking station (either the Media one or the standard one with audio out), i get no audio. If I have speakers plugged directly into tablet (bypassing dock), still no sound...as soon as I unseat it from dock, I have sound again.
Anyone seen this or can help me out?
    Thanks...love my Thrive!

I am always amazed in these forums by the number of people who think they are helping by asking obvious questions about the problem with no clue what the real issue is or how to help.
    That being said:
I had the same problem after upgrading.
Could boot your tablet, should fix the problem.
    1. power off the unit.
    2. Power on by holding the power button and volume up button at the same time.
    3. using the volume up and down button as a right and left curser, selectt the Android icon and press the power button.
    4. this will cold boot the system and the various dock functions should return.
Warning: Selecting anything else but the android icon will reset the device to factory defaults and wipeout all your info.

  • No sound from earphones or docking station ??

no sound when ipod is being played through earphones nor docking station??

My classic 80 GB ipod that I bought 2 years ago now has no sound at all. Initially, it came and went and now no sound. I can see that the music is playing on the screen, but no sound comes out either on earphones or dock.
no warranty anymore and don't want to have to pay $160 to fix it. I restored the IPOD but still no sound. HELP!!!!

  • No sound through external speakers from docking station

I've got an EliteBook 8460p running Windows 7 connected to a docking station.  I don't know what kind of docking station because there is no visible model number anywhere on it.
The internal speakers work fine, and the line out jack on the laptop itself works fine.  But when the laptop is docked, the line out jack from the docking station does not work.  All other peripherals work.  I even tried the line-in jack to see if they were mislabeled, but that wasn't the problem.
    Any help would be appreciated!

Is the volume turned up on both Mac and speakers?
Is Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Sound Output showing anything other than internal speakers?

  • X200 with OCZ ssd blue screens when booting from docking station

The x200 blue screens when booting from the docking station. If I take the laptop out of the docking station to boot and then dock once booted the laptop is fine.
The issue started happening when you I upgraded the laptop form xp to windows 7 and installed an OCZ vertex 2 solid state drive.
I have tried updating the firmware on the ssd using this utility
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-69806
The program showed that my ssd was running firmware version 1.29 and did not need to be updated.
I have also tried updating the x200 to the latest BIOS. Nothing seems to work.

  • No sound from xb4 Docking Station

Using the HP Entertainment PC with the xb4 Media Docking Station.  Can not get the mute button to turn off on the docking station. It will control the notebook volume and mute buttons, but will not turn it off on the station.  The notebook sounds great until it is plugged into the station, and it becomes silent.  No sound coming from the speakers at all. Purchased the entire package 4 months ago, talked with hp tech. support for several hours, and just received the third docking station today yet I'm still having the same problem.  The second docking station worked great for about 2 months, then the computer was disconnected and once the computer was reconnected the problem emerged.  The first and third stations had the problem from the first connection.  The only thing plugged into the station is the power adapter.
Please if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!!

I do suffer the same pain, i just received the (XB4) replacement from Hp, because I've been having the same problem, and after hours with tech support finally they agree to send it!!! and guess what...... the same old history, no sound come out, the funny thing is that my wife has one xb4 too, and we had been doing all kind of trouble shooting tests and my wife's docking st. works perfect, now I can't express my how far my frustration has reached.
Anyway I do recommend to send your Docking Station + Replacement Docking Station and get your Money back or exchange it for some other product, because I really and strongly believe that my time is more important and valuable than dealing with this kind of issues where i paid for a quality product and it results not to be, and/plus uses my time in order to figure out how to fix it (i don't think so!!!).
This is a Bad one Hp, i like your products, but this one really got me out my nerves.
Have a nice day, and hope to hear something helpful from HP soon
