X200 Standby - Hibernate

Hello,
I have the following problem:
If my X200 is in Standby Mode, the change to Hibernate won´t work. (Without power plug)
Standby and Hibernate in manuell way works.
Bios 3.18
Power Management Driver 1.62
Power Manager 3.59
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Solution:
In BIOS -> "Config" - "Power" ->"Timer wake with battery operation" switch to "enabled" .
Then the change Standby->Hibernation works.
Thank you,

  • Can't get APM (Standby/Hibernate) to work!!

This is a real mystery. I've read through dozens of postings here where people are having problems disabling APM for their systems -- I have the exact opposite problem.
When I first put the system together, set PM to S3/STR. Installed fresh WinXP Pro w/sp1a. Installed various drivers, etc., then fully updated OS over network via Windows Update.
Suspend to low power state worked fine. Wake up on kbd sequence worked fine. Enabled hibernate in OS, worked fine. Upgraded BIOS to v1.9; everything still worked fine.
For various reasons, needed to reinstall WinXP from scratch. Now the Suspend option is dimmed out when shutting down, and I can't figure out why. All ACPI/APM functionality still enabled in BIOS. Note that the lack of suspend support is present immediately after initial WinXP Pro/sp1a install. I haven't gone any farther and installed additional drivers (networking, for example), and brought the OS completely up to date. I'm trying that next.
In order to install so that I get a 'C' drive letter designation on my Promise RAID array, I have to disable the primary ICH5R IDE channel, where another disk is sitting, so that it doesn't get detected by the BIOS during the install process. Could this have anything to do with it (I can't imagine why).
Is there a utility I can run from Windows that will directly detect the presence of APM hardware, bypassing the OS drivers, so I can see if the MB is even supporting this capability any more (something could have gotten fried)?
    Any help would be appreciated...
    Thanks!

Well, somewhere in the process of updating XP Pro with 14 critical updates and some number of recommended updates (can't remember the exact number I selected), Standby started working. I've got the BIOS configured for S3/STR, and in my system it works like a charm.
I'd like to know which patch solved the problem, but that's a gumshoe exercise for another day.

  • X200 standby problem without ultrabase

I have a refurb X200 and just the basic software so far Win XP Pro 32bit. I updated power manager and drivers and patch from the Lenovo site. When I first put it into standby either by closing the lid, Fn F4 or the start menu it goes into standby in about 3 secs. and recovers in the same time when asked to. On the second and subsequent times I try to use standby (after a reboot) it takes about 16mins to reach standby - in the meantime it shows a screen with "preparing for standby" and the system is inaccessible.  When it finally goes into standby it can be recovered in the normal 2-3 secs. The only way to gain control while it is going into standby is a hard shut down. Following this I again have one normal standby operation. I note people having standby problems with the ultrabase but I haven't tried this yet.

I would like to share with you that it might be because of software issue.
To diagnose, I would suggest you to please update the Power Manager software and also update the Bios of your notebook from the below mentioned web link.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/default.page
After this, please restart the notebook and check if the issue resolved.
    Regards,
    Sameer

  • X200 in Hibernate Mode, it starts up automatically without pressing on the power up button....

    X200
    Dear all,
When my X200 is in Hibernate Mode, it starts up automatically without pressing on the power up button....
I installed Win Xp on it. All my drivers are installed.
I swichted of the Power on Lan in the Bios, but still no difference.
When I turn off my computer completely, I doesn't start up from himself. So it's only in hibernate mode.
Does anyone has an idea what it coud be?
Thanks a lot for your support.

Take it right back and Apple will likely exchange it for another rather than have you demand your money back.
This time, check to see if you have a lemon first before leaving.
It's rare, but it does happen, sorry it happened to you.

    Is the system overclocked ?
Is it running CnQ enabled ?
If yes to any of theese i recommend stop using S3 .
Could also try a newer BIOS version of course to see if it fixes the S3 resume .
The system no, the graphics card, yes.
    Yes.

  • ITunes interfering with standby/hibernate

I have my computer set to standby after an hour, but when I have iTunes open, it doesn't stand by and just stays on. Does anyone else have this problem, or know how to fix it?

I tried using iTunes 7 but I went back to version 6.5 because iTunes 6.5 does not prevent standby/hibernation.
It is quite annoying that Apple have done nothing to fix this since 6.5.
I like to listen to Jeff Rense Show mp3's when I settle down for the night and if I fall asleep the PC will shut itself down after the tracks have stopped playing.
Is there a hidden setting in iTunes 7 that will fix the issue ?

  • Satellite A200 - black screen after standby/hibernate

    Hi,
I just bought my computer 1 week ago. It??s a notebook A200 series and every time I tried to suspend/hibernate it, it doesn't resume back or wake up. The power light is still on. The fan is still on. Even the num pad lock responds.
The Screen is black and not responding. I can only restart the computer every time this happens. I tried to search the web for this problem and I found other people with the same problem.
I only bought my laptop for a week, can??t believe this is happening.
Please provide me with a solution.
    Edited by: ADMIN

I contacted toshiba around Janurary. I had the same problem on my Satellite A215-S7428. I dont remember what they told me to do. It envolved taking ount the battery, going to some window and changint the power settings for the moniter, like how much power does the moniter use on battery and when it is plugged in. They were set very low, around 20% and I had to raise them to 100%. That seemed to help. But now it is starting again. I happens when the screen is closed and the computer sleeps. When I open the screen, it is black. I used to have to restart my laptop just so I could it, after I contacted the support and changed the power stuff, it came right up in around 10 sec. Now it takes around 30secs. So does anyone know how to access the power setting window i am taliking about?

  • WiFi stuck after X61s running Windows 8.1 resumes following Sleep/Hibernate

    Hi All,
WiFi in my X61s running Windows 8.1 gets stuck when I take the laptop out of Sleep or Hibernate. Nothing but reboot helps recover it: Windows troubleshooter, disable/enable WiFi connection, disable/enable WiFi adapter using Fn+F5, turn off/on all wireless adapters using the switch at the front. Which particular logs/debugs/etc would help troubleshoot this issue?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Dmitriy

    Hi Hemanth,
Thanks for your reply. While testing with the setting you suggested is still underway (looking very promising so far!) do I get it right that the laptop now keeps WiFi up at all times incl when asleep? If so it's a good workaround but I'd still like to drill down to the root cause of the problem and hopefully obtain a real fix for it, so that (with the checkbox checked) WiFi is turned off upon my laptop entering standby/hibernate and resumes properly upon taking the laptop out of standby/hibernate.
Update: WiFi card make/model = Intel 4965AGN, driver = 13.3.0.137 by Microsoft dated August 15th, 2010. The following thread tells me Intel no longer support this card and in particular have never released Windows 8 drivers for it, so they're advising to use basic MS ones:
    https://communities.intel.com/thread/32614
Meanwhile here's how someone managed to fix their issues with this card:
"I've tried both this and the disable N wifi solution above but none works. But then I uninstall the driver and rescan hardware, now the wifi is running perfectly without uncheck power-off option and without rolling back to slow b/g wifi"
Will try the same when I'm at my parents next, which is where that laptop is. It'd be great if it fixed my issue too but if not I'll stick to the w/a you supplied.
    Many thanks,
    Dmitriy

  • X201 problems with ultrabase dock after hibernate

    Hi guys,
My shiny new x201 is acting strangely after I connect it to the ultrabase. It does not recognize my monitor (displayport2displayport direct cable) nor any USB peripherals (keyboard, mouse...).
If I reboot it _while_ on ultrabase, everything works as it should.
So, from standby, hibernate or while turned on, nothing happens. After a reboot everything is OK. One of the reasons I bought an ultrabase is the ability to connect to mon/keyb/mouse/printer on the fly.
Instead of preinstalled W7/32bit I had to install W7/64bit since I have more than 3GB of RAM (8GB exactly). Everything else works perfectly.
Can anyone help, did you encounter a similar problem ?
    Thanks in advance
    Marko
[update] I have two ultrabases, and have tried them both, same thing...

    @msav.
Do try running TVSU and see if you have all drivers installed and updated to their latest patches available now. If problem still persist despite the update then I would recommend to check it via service centers.

  • Maintenance Windows - Scheduled Reboot Sleep/Hibernate

Given an appropriately scheduled maintenance window and a properly configured set of client settings (computer restart), what is the expected behavior for a client computer that enters standby/hibernate during the countdown and doesn't resume until after
    it has ended?
I have been running a few tests in my environment and I'm finding that clients resuming from standby/hibernate are being forced to reboot immediately. Sometimes before I am able to hit ctrl+alt+delete and login.
    Is this expected?

    Is this expected?
I think this is expected. More details from Rebootcoordinator.log would be helpful.

  • WiFi Problems after standby

    Hi,
I am having problems with the PB's WiFi connectivity after returning from standby. Even though it appears as connected (full signal) I have to turn the WiFi connection off and on to be able to browse.
    Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

Just to let you know that I have had a solution for the standby/resume probelm from another site.

    Solution to Standby Resume error.......
    net stop wzcsvc
    sc config wzcsvc start= disabled
Another satisfied customer here!  I updated a couple of days ago to SP3 on my WinXP Pro system.  I had the exact same problem (wzcsvc crash after standby/hibernate) and solution.  What I don't know is if WZC was previously running in my SP2 installation or not, though I have no wireless device installed in this computer and SP3 was one of the only variables to consider.
BUT... I DO have an Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard.  Now, that alone isn't very interesting except they made two flavors of this board: one with a wireless adapter (Deluxe/WiFi) and one without (just Deluxe).  I have the one "without" but if SP3 looked at the system and didn't make that distinction it's possible SP3 decided Wifi was present perhaps based on the BIOS (which is the same for the Wifi and non-Wifi version of the mobo, as I recall) and installed and/or enabled the WZC service!
This bug (in SP3 itself or specifically WZC for failing this way) would be worth noting and fixing because I suspect lots of PCs out there have WiFi capability in the BIOS but possibly not the actual WiFi hardware. I personally hope others I've seen posting about this issue in SP3 find THIS thread useful.  I'm very glad to have standby/hibernation working again!
By the way, of all the svchost processes the one with WZC in it had 30 total services attached to it.  I'm curious why this process is so "overloaded" (if that's an accurate description) versus the other svchot processes which each only have a few services or less attached to them?  Also, when it would fail and restart that svchost process only a handful of them actually came back (less than half!)  I'm curious why that is as well...

Please help me with my trouble. i have Lenovo sl 500. I've decided to update my windows vista home basic( that was built-in my notebook) to windows 7. All troubles were solved, but i cannot change the level of brightness(pressing Fn +home/end ) the other combinations with the button "Fn" are working. Maybe i need a driver? i found  two drivers that not capable with windows 7 maybe connected with my problem. Please can you name this driver or help me to solve this problem. Thank you

If this after standby/hibernate, try closing and opening the lid. This sometimes helps for me. For this issue, see also this topic.

  • How to reinstall Toshiba Power Saver?

A while back, I inadvertently deleted the Tosh power saver file.
I am assuming that this controls the STANDBY & HIBERNATE functions as they no longer work, inasmuch I cannot restart /recover from either.
So I downloaded the file pwrsav.xp7037i-en.zip from the tosh database, extracted it, but cannot see how and where I should re-install it ?
Anyone done a similar thing , and suceeded ?

So, it would be interesting which machine you exactly have (for some reason :) ). Regarding your problem: Youve downloaded it and you just have to click on "setup.exe" or "install.exe" and let the system do the rest.
Thats all and I cannot imagine where the problem should be.
If you really dont know and so on, then give some feedback.
