X200 standby problem without ultrabase

I have a refurb X200 and just the basic software so far Win XP Pro 32bit. I updated power manager and drivers and patch from the Lenovo site. When I first put it into standby either by closing the lid, Fn F4 or the start menu it goes into standby in about 3 secs. and recovers in the same time when asked to. On the second and subsequent times I try to use standby (after a reboot) it takes about 16mins to reach standby - in the meantime it shows a screen with "preparing for standby" and the system is inaccessible.  When it finally goes into standby it can be recovered in the normal 2-3 secs. The only way to gain control while it is going into standby is a hard shut down. Following this I again have one normal standby operation. I note people having standby problems with the ultrabase but I haven't tried this yet.

I would like to share with you that it might be because of software issue.
To diagnose, I would suggest you to please update the Power Manager software and also update the Bios of your notebook from the below mentioned web link.
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/default.page
After this, please restart the notebook and check if the issue resolved.
Regards,
Sameer

  • I duplicated a picture and now iPhoto (11) is cloning that picture replacing all the other photos and only when I click directly on them I can see the real picture! How can I solve the problem without losing any saved picture? Shall I re-install? Thanx

I duplicated a picture selecting CMD and D but, suddenly, iPhoto (latest version '11) started cloning that picture and replacing all the other photos with it.
Only when I click directly on one photo I can open it and see the real picture it is.
But the preview is always the duplicated one...
I tryed to duplicate another picture just to see if it turned out ok but the only changement was the duplicated picture!
I started repeating the second duplicated one instead of the previous one but my issue remained the same.
So, how can you help me to solve this problem without losing any saved picture?
    Shall I re-install iPhoto completely?
Thank you very very much in advance!!

As Larry says, restoring the back up is the fastest and best solution. Otherwise:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Some folks have discovered that changing their DNS service fixes FaceTime connection issues.
    The ideal way is to configure your modem/router with DNS service, but often settings in System Preferences/Network/Advanced/DNS on your Mac will override the router settings. Try either of these;
    OpenDNS
    208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
    Google Public DNS

  • X200s Display problem

Hi all! I would like to ask for help in diagnosing a display problem in my X200s, model 7470-5GA.
Attached below are photos of how it looks (white flickering screen). There are times when I boot the laptop and everything appears to be normal and okay until after Windows starts and the problem comes back.
I've tried connecting it to an external monitor. There is a signal but there is no display on the external.
I've also tried booting Linux from a USB to check if it's only happening in Windows. The issue persists in 3 Linux distros I've tried.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Finej,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understand that you are facing the issue with Display on your ThinkPad X200s.
As per the snapshot I am sure it is a hardware issue and it might be with Display screen or with system board. However I request you to confirm this in BIOS mode if the issue persists in BIOS mode also.
And also connect the external monitor while performing the BIOS boot, to perform the steps you have to keep tapping the F1 key after switching ON the system.
    Hope to hear back soon!
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar

  • HT1414 is there another way i can fix this problem without having to restore my phone?

my wifi settings is faded out so i cannot turn the wifi on. i followed the steps that this website said to do so it could get fixed but it didn't work.  then thet said i would have to restore my phone and i can't do that. is there another way i can fix this problem without having to restore my phone?

    No.
A restore might not even fix it; a fair amount of the time, when the Wi-Fi is grayed out it is a hardware issue.

There's only one thing you can do: make an appointment with Apple genius at the Apple retail store for a out of warranty replacement.

  • Standby problem - Z60m

In Windows XP, sometimes when I put my Z60m into standby mode, it will not boot back up. It normally will enter the standby state correctly, with the standby light being the only indicator that is lit. After some amount of time (usually between ten to fifteen minutes), the battery light will spontaneously light up. While this light is on as well, there is no way to bring the system out of standby. Sometimes the battery light turns off again, and it is possible to bring the system back, but often it stays lit and I have to do a forced power-off and reboot the system completely. This is a bit frustrating; has anyone else had the same problem? My first thought was something to do with BIOS.

    Dear Friend !
Get used to it. It is LENOVO. Their upper-most-class million dollar computers (like my Z61p) worth  a piece of **bleep**. It looks perfect. It can give you a wonderfull short-term experience. But when you use it day after day you realise that it is UNSTABLE. I'll never recommend lenovo to anyone. Their support is even more LOL !
---- snitt --- by the way i OF COURSE have the same standby problem. I just dont post it. What for ?
They dont give a **bleep** LENOVO&MS are working on their next top-class systems. PROFIT is what matters these days. Not Quality.

  • I got my iPhone disabled mistakenly by six trials of entering pass code. However now I remembered  my passcode so how can fix the problem without losing my contents.

I got my iPhone disabled mistakenly by six trials of entering pass code. However now I remembered  my passcode so how can fix the problem without losing my contents.

If your phone is now disabled, you've already lost all data on the phone...that's the whole point of the passcode, to protect the data on the phone. Your only choice now is to force the phone into recovery mode & restore it, as described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
This will remove the passcode, but also erase all data on the phone unless you have a backup to restore from.

  • X200s DisplayPort or DVI without Ultrabase?

I've just bought an X200s and am looking for a way to use the DisplayPort capabilities that are on the Ultrabase without having to buy the Ultrabase. Does anyone know if this is possible? I can't think of any way unless there was a simpler port replicator available but I thought someone might know a way to do it.
(just in case it's relevant, I'm looking for DVI or HDMI output so I'll use an adapter from the DisplayPort to DVI)
I know there are USB-DVI adapters out there but I'm looking for one that takes advantage of the inbuilt graphics and supports 1920x1200 @ 32bit.
    Thanks for your time...

You can get a usb2dvi adapter to get dvi out, but i don't know whether the usb2dvi supports 1920x1200 resolution, i don know they support 1600 x 1200 resolution. I guess you have to look around and see whether any of these converter support the resolution you are after.

Standby and Hibernate in manuell way works.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Solution:
In BIOS -> "Config" - "Power" ->"Timer wake with battery operation" switch to "enabled" .
