X200T Wireless card disappeared

Hi
A few days ago I lost the internet at home
I can connect fine with an ethernet cable, and another computer in the house runs fine off of wifi, so the only problem is my WIFI.
The WIFI or WLAN doesn't show up under Network adapters nor Other Devices in Device Manager.
I would have tried a system restore but it happened before the last restore point
In the BIOS, it says the WLAN is switched on
The wireless switch on the side on the laptop is ON
Under Network and Sharing centre, I click Change Adapter Settings, and there is no Icon for the WLAN.  Only a LAN connection.
My WIFI card has completely disappeared.  Please help!

  • X200s wireless card keeps disappearing

I lose my wireless randomly after a few hours or days of use.
Pressing fn+f5 results in the error message "Lenovo Wireless adapters (802.11, WAN or Bluetooth) are not installed on this system."
In Device Manager my "11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter III" from Atheros Communications disappears (no errors visible).
I have to restart to get the wireless back. This usually works (for another few hours).
Does anyone have any ideas ? I searched the boards and other people's wireless problems seem to be a bit different.
I should say that after some googling other people's problems, I have tried uninstalling the ThinkVantage Access Connections, and also unticked the Windows box "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" under the wireless card's Properties. Neither help.
I am running Wondows 7 Enterprise.

    hey rpwt,
try uninstalling the current wireless driver that is installed on your unit. let windows install its generic drivers.
with generic wifi drivers install, try connecting again and see if the same issue happens again.
curious to know does this happen on any wifi connection or only at your home / office connection ??

  • Just got new T530 with wrong wireless card. Which model of Intel 6300?

Hey all, been surfing the google god for a few days but can't seem to find a secure answer that makes me happy. Just got a new T530 model 2359 laptop for my new job. Other then one stuck pixel that refuses to go away im pretty happy with it as I upgraded the CPU to the i5 3320 cpu model with the nvidia NVS 5400m GPU so it can power dual 24" monitors on my new Lenovo dock.
What sucks is that my manager got me the wrong wifi card, the standard thinkpad 1x1 b/g/n wireless card so I can't connect to 5ghz and or dual band routers like I have at my home which I really want for reliable and fast wireless cause I will be using it a lot around my work building as I do IT support for users so I wanna be able to use all the antenna's to help my range.
I took the laptop apart and I do see a third wire not connected to the thinkpad 1x1 mini card so should be able to use 3 antenna's on my T530?  My big question is which 6300 card would the correct one for my T530? I know apparently there are "white label" cards from IBM that don't work in certain machines but considering I'm putting it into a IBM, I would think I would be ok?
Also, I do have an HD webcam buit in and I've heard that apparently some Thinkpad models you can't use three antenna and have the webcam working?
I'm curious if this white label centrino 6300 is the one I need

  • WRT54GS - 7.0 Wireless signal disappears periodically

I have had my WRT54GS - 7.0 for about two months. Because of the way my apartment is set up, I am using a wireless card in my pc instead of a wired LAN connection from my cable modem. My ISP is fine; the computer wired to the router never experiences any difficulty.
My problem is that once in a while my wireless signal dips or disappears. My pc is only about 40 feet from the wireless router, and most of the time my signal is quite strong. I have software that allows me to see competing wireless networks and I know that I am not sharing a channel with anyone. It doesn't happen regularly; it will be fine for a week or even a month, then I'll have a horrendous couple of days where nothing I do can get it to connect. Sometimes it is two hours before the signal comes back. Cycling the power and resetting the router has no effect.
Should I buy a wireless repeater, or is there some other sinister agent at work besides cruddy signal transmission?
Any and all suggestions are welcome, and thanks to all who took time to read!
Message Edited by dgold on 04-11-200704:54 PM

    dgold!
Make sure that there are no interferences between the two devices. Changing the channel would do as well, an if still it's the same. Set the "advance wireless settings" on the router [Beacon = 70; RTS = 2305; Fragmentation = 2306].

  • X201 Wireless Card not detectable (Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN) (Windows 7 64 bit)

    Hey!
I have a slight problem here.
We have 5 machines that got shipped with Windows 7 32 bit versions for two weeks ago, I tested all of them to make sure nothing was defect or such things but everything was fine (The wireless network card was clearly visible in device manager).
For two days ago, we recived recovery discs to upgrade these machines to 64 bit versions.
After installing it on 2 computers that was previously 32 bit versions, I am not able to detect the wireless network card anymore.
I have used System Update to try and find it but to no avail.
The card itself is not even detected by Device Manager (No unkown device or anything either, it have simply dissapeared).
I do know the card is present there so I downloaded two different drivers (1 from Lenovo homepage and another one from a driver update tool) (13.1.1.1 and 13.2.0.30).
I made a manual search and installed the drivers and the card itself by using "Add Legacy hardware" in device manager and picked the card.
It is now detectable in Device Manager but with following error code:
"The device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31).
I have tested both versions but same error code persists, System Update won't help either since it says that there are no new updates for this machine (same thing with Windows Update).
The card was functioning properly in 32 bit version but decided to crap out when upgrading to 64 bit, have there been frequent problems regarding wireless networking with 64 bit?

We have the same problem with 6 new X201 machines preloaded with Win 7 32bit
After reloading the X201 with the Win 7 64bit recovery media the wireless network card disappears.
You learn to disassemble the laptop quickly to get to the CMOS battery because thats the olution I found
Disconnect the CMOS battery to reset BIOS settings completely and the network card appears in windows again.
Even when we tried the same recovery media on a T500 to test it, the same happened. The CMOS battery solution got the WLAN card working again.
I have reported this to Lenovo but havent heard from them yet.

  • T430 with Intel Ultimate-N 6300 wireless card cannot see 5Ghz network

I have two machines with the exact same Intel 6300 AGN wireless cards.  Both running Widowns 7 64-bit.  Both have same versions of Intel drivers installed.  The X230 sees and connects to my 5Ghz wireless network.  The T430 sees only the 2.4Ghz network.  The 5Ghz network is not even displayed in its list of available networks.
The T430 sees other 5Ghz networks in the neighborhood.  Using inSSIDer I can see that the wifi card is functioning on the 5Ghz frequency as it displays 3 other nearby networks.  But I have no way to test connection since those are not my networks and are secured (as is mine).
Windows also shows those neighboring 5Ghz networks in the list of available connections.  Only my own 5Ghz network is absent from both lists.
Both my 2.4 and 5Ghz bands are broadcasing their SSID's.  All MAC filtering is correct and both machines are allowed on the networks.  The WPA keys are correct.
I have even copied the network settings from the working X230 using the "Copy this network profile to a USB flash drive" option from the wireless network properties window and added the 5Ghz network to the T430 using the USB key.  So I know the settings are identical.
I ran Lenovo diagnostics Wireless Quick Test on both machines and got identical successfull results.
The only thing amusing about this issue is that the X230 wifi card was purchased from an eBay seller in China and that is the one that works.  The card in T430 came with the laptop direct from Lenovo and that one has trouble.  Both cards have Lenovo FRU numbers and clearly are whitelist approved since they both work.  Just that the T430 card only sees the 2.4Ghz network.
I have assigned static IP addresses to both machines on the network.
    I have rebooted the router.
I have run all Lenovo and Windows updates on both machines.
If anyone has further suggestions I woul really appreciate assistance.
    Thank you.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • When the mac wakes from sleep, the wireless icon disappears

Hi All, I have a third party wireless PCI card in the PowerMac G4 MDD which works fantastically. The only issue I have is when the machine wakes from sleep, the wireless icon disappears from the top menu and the machine freezes and I have to force shut down.....
    Any ideas?
    I am running 10.5.8....

    Hi, Garry -
It seems some PCI cards don't handle sleep well; sometimes they exhibit behavior such as you've noted, sometimes they just prevent the machine from entering sleep.
In many cases the solution can be to sleep only the monitor; in the Sleep prefs pane, set the sliders for System and Hard Drive to "never", and the one for the monitor to your choice of delay. This arrangement also means waking from sleep is faster.

  • S12 Wireless card compatibility

I noticed that S12 (nvidia) rejects other Wireless Mini PCIe cards
with error message "card not authorized".
Is there a list of cards that are accepted?
My card has a suspected defective contact. I expect that I must replace it soon.
Lenovo, please provide us with a BIOS update that is less restrictive.
    Thank you.

    Hi fr0ggie,
This should explain why it doesn't work.  Lenovo matches the card to the antennae in the computer in order to comply with FCC regulations regarding interference.
Any replacement wireless card has to have an FRU part number and be branded for a Lenovo.  A generic card won't work, even though it might be the same exact card.
If you suspect a bad contact, remove the card and gently clean the contacts with a pencil eraser.

  • Wireless Card: MIA

    EDIT: This is on a Win7 W530.
So for some strange reason I decieded to use Lenovo's software update utility. I was on Wi-Fi when updating. After updating my WLAN driver and rebooting, my machine no longer sees my wireless card. It doesn't say that it has failed in the device manager - it isn't IN the device manager. Totally gone.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver to no avail. Not sure what the heck is going on, but it is frustrating.
    Any advice would be great.

    'evening.
I suppose it's possible that the card has died electrically, and therefore not seen by the pc any longer. You may wish to burn a Linux Live CD and boot from that to see if you can isolate the problem to Windows or more widely to hardware.

  • Yoga 2 Pro - Wireless Card not Detected by Windows 8.1

Hi, Just got a refurbished Yoga 2 Pro. The first time I started the system up, the wireless showed up and I connected to my local WLAN. However, few minutes later the wireless dropped out. The issue was that Windows stopped detecting the card. Not showing in the device manager. Strange enough the bluetoth was working fine. The card is an Intel 7260NGW. I thought it was the card, so I replaced it with a new Intel AC7260NGW. The same result. I've removed & reinstalled all drivers including the ones from the Intel website. I've formatted and installed a fresh version of windows 8.1 and reinstalled all drivers again. Not to avail. Now running with an USB wireless adapter.  Any clue what's going on? Thanks in advance guys Daniel

OMG, I was just about to buy a new wireless card because I have the same problem.
Some weeks ago my wireless adapter disappeared, the card disappeared altogether even from Device manager, after I installed a new bluetooth driver and after I was connecting to my phone 3G via USB cable.
But then it came back after I left the laptop shut down and unplugged for a whole night. It worked for a few hours and after closing the lid and opening it again wireless adapter was gone again, never to come back.
I tried changing drivers, holding the power button for 20 sec to hard reset the laptop, fresh install of Windows, load BIOS defaults, and even installing Windows 10 in VHD (dual boot) and see if it will reappear there.Always the same - the wireless adapter doesn't exist any more.
However, buetooth has been working without problems, which I find strange.
I read online about similar situations, and all answers point that the wireless card stopped working and needs to be replaced.
But @Papelinas - you say you even bought and installed a new wireless card and STILL have the same problem???I can't believe that something in motherboard got damaged and that only wifi doesn't work...
I've had my Y2P for 6 months, and I don't really have time to send the laptop for repair for some time, I'm using it...
I guess I'll still try to buy a new card, and just hope the wireless adapter will reappear...

  • Is X201 wireless card BIOS locked?

Hi everyone, I have a fairly new X201 (3249-CTO) with the "Lenovo" wireless card, i.e. the Realtek 8172/8192SE card. I want to buy a different wireless card but have read conflicting reports about whether this is possible: Some say that the X201 is BIOS locked such that it won't boot unless a Lenovo-supplied card is used. Others have said that this used to be the case with older Thinkpads but is no longer with the X201. Does anyone know what the correct answer is? Many thanks, krull

    http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_unauthorized_MiniPCI_network_card
i don't think this will work on a machine as new as yours.  and you can't just go out and buy, say, an intel 5300 wireless card, you have to buy  a Lenovo branded intel 5300 wireless card.  even though the cards are exactly the same the non-Lenovo card will give you the error at boot.
i'm not sure which cards will work best in linux but in windows 7 i found that the intel cards work the best. the atheros cards are laggy and the realtek cards drop connections a lot it seems.
if you ever decide to run windows 7 the intel cards work the best.

  • T400 wireless card

I bought a T400 notebook a couple of days ago. When I got it, I realized I made a mistake by not choosing wireless card for the notebook. I was not able to find a solution for this. Please help me figure out what to do to make up my mistake. Thanks a lot!

I had similar problems with my T400, the status light would switch off and the adapter would completely disappear from device manager. Turns out it was a faulty wireless card, got it replaced and the computer is running fine now. You could try and swap out your card with a working one and see if that helps.

I have tried a few cards and they don;t work because of a bios 802 error saying the pcie card is invalid and the computer won't boot. Is there a way to mod the bios and remove the whitest? Alternatively where can I find a list of accepted wireless cards.

  • [SOLVED]Wireless Card troubles

I am an absolute beginner trying to install Arch for the first time. Because of reasons, I am required to do this via Wireless. This is my only option. The computer I am using does not have an internal wireless card, so I purchased a Medialink USB dongle. When plugged in, the dongle recognizes my network, but connection to the network fails. The dongle uses an RT3070 chipset if I'm not mistaken, and the website has a driver available for Linux. Unfortunately, the instructions to install said driver are written for bash and I am not competent enough with Arch to handle this. I have the driver on a separate flash drive. Can you guys help?

What I mean by that is, when I run the command iw dev I see the device, and then when I run wifi-menu _____, I see my wifi network. However, when I try to connect to it, the connection fails. I presume this is because I do not have the correct driver installed.
The output of dmesg tail is the same when the USB is attached versus not attached, but I didn't try to reboot with the device not attached, I'll warrant. I will not try to type out everything it says, because it's about 50 lines. It talks about the driver, says if there's an ACPI driver available I should use it instead of the native driver, and recognizes that it has an RT3070 chipset. At the end of all the info, it says the link is not ready.
The output of ip link when the device is attached is:
1:  lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> MTU 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT
         link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00

         link/ether 14:35:8b:0b:ad:8f brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
wlp0s29f7u4 is my device. It is the one that disappears from the list when I unplug the USB. It is also what appears when I use iw dev.
dmesg | grep firmware produces a message that informs me it's loading firmware file 'rt2870.bin' and then Firmware detected - version 0.29.
