X201 does not start up and continuously asks to boot after battery drain

Hi,
I kept my laptop accidentally off the battery during night and slept. Now the whole battery is drained and when I connect to charger and startup, it gives "Start Windows Normally" command page and when I select it, it opens up a blue error screen for 2 secs and then again reboots and starts the whole process again. It is repeatitive and does not stop.
Heard somewhere that there needs to be some toggle off to be done on BIOS "Always on USB" configuration. I did that but still the issue is there.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Vimal

  • FCP X does not recognize projects and events on USB drive after a time machine restore of the MBP macintosh disk

FCP X does not recognize projects and events on USB drive after a time machine restore of the MBP macintosh disk.
I upgraded from an i5 to an i7 15" MBP and restored my files using my time machine backup. All seemed to go ok, except I had to use the migration assistant because on the initial boot the MAC didn't recognize the backup database on the USB device. MAybe this is a hint.
Since when I start FCPX it too cannot finnd the project or event directories.
Before my upgrade, I had a choice of files either on the Macintosh disk or the 2TB USB disk.
Now only files on the Macintosh are accessible to FCPX. The USB drive is visible under events and project but it finds no projects or events.
    Please help if you can.
    Thanks
    Barry

Thanks... alas no one has responded.
I think I have the structure that you are recommending.
I have a root level directory (Final Cut Events) with the files in them.
The puzzling thing is that it used to work before the migration!.
Anyway I'm going to move the contents to the root and see what happens.
    On a slightly different note...
I also posted a question about CPU utilization. Can I ask a question or two?
While rendering a short clip, I noticed burst of disk activity when the render started (likely loading the media files into ram since I have about 4Gigs available, then almost no activity while the render is happening, then more disk activity when its done.
However the cpu activity is not as high as I would have expected since rendering requires a lot of cpu.
What is your experience? I know some render is done by the GPU, but in my older i5 the CPU was about 100%, now in my i7 its about 50%.
Please look at the attached utilization for CPU and disk activity.
    Thanks for any thoughts... Barry

  • My Mac Pro (1,1 Intel core) does not start up and the white light is blinking

Mac Pro does not start up, the white light is blinking. I check the conexion with the monitor and tried the monitor on another Mac Pro (5,5) and work correctly

When the Power light blinks in a deliberate pattern at Satrtup, that indicates not enough RAM, in full working order, is available.
You will need some known-good RAM to make progress.

  • Macbook Pro does not start up and nothing works. Need recovery!

    Hi there
My MacBook Pro has shut down while wathcing a video and when ever I try to start up, a sign looking loke"no parking (Prohibitory Sign)" comes up after grey screen.
I tried to start it in safe mode but it does not go in safe mode.
Tried pram and nvram reset pro but didnt help.
Succesfully started in recovery mode ( tried both cmd + R and Cmd +opt+ R) tried disc repair but it cannot repair or verify anything. it gives me errors.
Could not recover anything in here as could not find any back up.
Tried to re-install Maveric but could not see HDD, so could not go ahead.
Inserted OS X installationCD that came with laptop, stared up by holding C, tried to repair disk but again, could not repair disk.
Could not do anything in Terminal.
I cannot even erase and re-install the OS
I also had windows 7 installed but now I cant start it up aswell.
The question is, what else I can try to save my computer? More importantly, I have so many pictures I want to save. How can I save them?
    Thanks in advance!
    Memis.

Based on the procedures you have tried and the symptoms you have described, your MBP internal HDD had failed and will need to be replaced.
If you have a backup, your data should be available to you when you install the new HDD.  If you do not have a backup, you may try to see if any of the data recovery software available online will work for you.  Most have a trrial version that will tell you if they can be of any use for you or not.  The last option is to engage the services of a data recover firm.  They will not guarantee if they can get any or all of your data and will be very expensive.
    Ciao.

    Hi,

  • Lightroom cc does not start. logout and login in creative cloud does not help. Have a test account, 2 days more to go (and want to decide whether to buy PS & LR CC or to stay with current desktop solutions.)

I installed lightroom cc. But it did not start. Tried the solution, that seemed to help many others (logout, login) but it did not help. Even did logout, restartet pc (win 8.1, 64) and logged in again. tried to log out and log in in the cloud panel and in photoshop cc. nothing helped.
Maybe it has to do with the fact, that i have a test account and only 2 more days to go? but i need to launch lightroom cc first before i can decide to purchase CC.

Thanks for your reply. I was able to find help through a tech support chat session and the person helped me edit my /etc/hosts file and it solved the problem.
For anyone else experiencing this issue (Mac OS X):
Close all other programs and sign out from the Adobe Desktop App
From the Finder, Go > Go to Folder...
    Type /etc and hit enter
Find "hosts" file (only "hosts", there were similar files such as hosts.config but only open the one that says "hosts"
Open the file, and replace the entire content with ### Host Database## localhost is used to configure the loopback interface#
Close the file, sign back into the Adobe Desktop App
    Problem solved!

  • Ipod touch 5th gen does not turn on and i only get an empty battery with thunderbolt at the bottom when i try to recharge it

ipod touch does not turn onand i get empty batterywith small thunderbolt at the bottom wen i try to charge it

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar

  • When trying to log into App Store my keyboard does not come up and it asks me to paste password!

It won't let me log in...because it ask me to paste my password...I have no idea why it just started doing this!

Quit the App Store app and reset the iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Logic Pro does not start up and wants to activate trial

    Hi,
Today, somehow my Logic Pro 7 stopped running regualrely after working perfectely for over 2 years and some months on my new macbook.
I wanted to start up logic an hour or so ago, XS key plugged in aswell, and instead of starting, it stopped with loading buffer size and displays something like "klick here if you want to activate a trial before buying Logic".
I think this is kind of strange, because also neither my computer nor my key have been connected to the internet or so and so i have not done any upgrades for the software or so. I don't know if it is just on the macbook or if it won't run either on any other computer.
Did anybody ever come across this problem or did you hear about it and have advice for me??
    thanks in advance,
    Johannes

Ok, the problem seems indeed to be related with the XSkey.
Today I tried to run Logic Pro on another Computer with my XSkey, but it neither works there.
Logic asks me if I want to try it out for a limited amount of time before buying it, but It is a bought Version already...
The problem at the moment is that I will need Logic next week and I don't see a way to get it running, although the macs it occured with were not my Powermac at home I'm gonna use then.
Just, I read something about XSkeyupdater on a link List in this Forum or so, so could this maybe be something that could help???
So, if somebody got an answer to my problem pls tell me.
    Kind regards,
    Johannes

  • After using hibernation, it does not start up and has black screen

My computer was fine for 2 yrs or so,now it will not startup!  After it was in hibernation, I came back a few hrs later and turned on the power and it has a black screen.  The only things that are lit are the left side blue dot and the f12 button.
This computer worked perfectly until today, except it tok longer sometimes to come out of hibernation.
I tries a hard reset according to what the HP website said, nothing worked!!
Can anyone help ant tell me how to get this thing to work??
    Thanks,
    John

    Hey wealthylives,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
As the computer screen is remaining black/blank after the hard reset, I would suggest the following document 'Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot'. Please follow through the steps outlined in order.
Please let me know the outcome of the troubleshooting.
    Thank you.

  • Mac Mini does not start up and if it does, it hangs

My 2010 Mac Mini shows grey screen with progress bar on startup and after some time I get multi language restart notification. I reboot and etry and it seems to work but once it goes to sleep there is n waking up. Please help.Could it be the last Mac update?

    Thanks Eric.
I tried that. Disk Utility told me that there were some node sector errors (I think that's what is said).
I somehow managed to take a time machine backup But that was the last I saw of my Mini booting up.
I decided to use Lion Recovery, formatted the HD (via disk utility) and when I tried to reinstall Lion, I would see the error 6002F/P. I took the machine to local Apple service center (place where I stay there are no direct Apple service centers only Apple authorised ones (genuine), but understanding is that they are skilled enough)
That was 2 days ago and today I came to know that the mother board had gone kaput.....is that possible? This machine is not even 2 years old and has not been treated bad.
They will get back to me by evening with estimates. I do not have many options and am worried.Disappointed.
    Any suggestions? Second opinion?
Anyone knows/has had similar problem...please let me know what can be done.

  • My MacBook pro will not start up and it keeps beeping.   The battery is fully charged.

MacBook pro went to sleep last night.  This morning plugged it in to charge the battery.  It will not turn on now.  According to the plug and the battery display lights on the side, it is fully charged.  It is also beeping every 5 to 6 seconds.

  • IPad Mini will not boot after battery drained after IOS8.0.2 Update

I upgraded to IOS 8.0.2 having skipped 8.0.1 two days ago. I did not notice any unusual problems, but with hindsight a few apps did crash out on occasions, but not consistently.
Yesterday night I let the battery completely drain and I plugged it in to recharge overnight.
This morning I find that logo is still on screen and it doesn't look as if the iPad has recharged. I have tried re-booting a number of times, but it will not progress beyond the Apple Logo. I have tried connecting to iTunes on my Macbook Pro, but no device is recognised.
Having left the iPad sitting next to me while still connected to a charger, I have noticed on a couple of occasions a flash of blue screen followed by black and then the Apple Logo appearing again.
My iPad Mini Retina 128Gb appears very dead at the moment. Any suggestions on revival?

Try to put your iPad into DFU mode and do a full restore this way. To do so, follow the steps below:
    1. Open iTunes on your computer
    2. Connect your iPad via USB.
    3. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for about 10 seconds.
    4. Release the Sleep/Week button but keep pressing the Home button until iTunes shows that it has detected and iPad in DFU mode.
    5. Try restoring your iPad.
If this won't solve your problem, and you are not able to do a restore via iTunes at all, then take your iPad to an Apple Retail Store because then it is possibly a hardware failure. Here you can find the service options: https://getsupport.apple.com/ProductSelector.action
