X201 win7 centrino 6200 agn, cannot connect to 11g router

My X201 is win7 and with intel centrino 6200 agn wifi chipset. I can use wifi at work (which is 11n AP). However, my home is using an 11g dsl router, and the wifi connection stuck. It kept trying to connect to the router but failed. I pluged in a USB 11g wifi adapter and got connected within a second. Is there anyboy having the same problem? This really pissed me off....

Is it encrypted? You're gonna have to give a lot more details if you expect any help.

After updating my iPad 2 to iOS 6, I cannot connect to my router.  I have turned the router off, left off for a considerable time, turned the iPad off and on, reset the network settings, nothing works.  Any other suggestions?  It is obvious many others are having similar problems, so the iOS 6 looks like a loser.

I have just upgraded from a 3 to a 4S and now I can't connect to my wifi. I've tried everything, resetting network settings, switching to boot, renewing lease, rebooting, turning off cellular data etc etc. nothing works!! Very frustrating!

  • MacBook Pro Cannot Connect to Wireless Router

I have a brand new MBP and it won't connect to any non-apple wireless routers
    - my computer is 2 days old (it's awesome and I love it accept that I can't get wireless connection at home)
    - wireless router: westell versalink model 327 W
    - PROBLEM: my mbp will detect the network just fine, but won't connect to it...just times out, it will connect to a neighbors linksys, but cannot load any internet pages, so still not helpful. When I try to connect to the wirelesss router using the network utility it asks for a WEP password, which it never did before because it's an open wireless router. (I know you should always password protect, but it's not my router...I'm just in the same house)
    - I had a powerbook G4 and ibooks that have all connected fine to the same wireless network. My dad has an HP laptop that also connects fine
    - it only connects to the apple brand airport wireless routers
    - it will connect to the wireless router if I plug in the ethernet cord
    - I have tried checking the connections, allowing all connections, repairing my disk permissions (even though my computer is only 2 days out of the box), resetting the router, opening the router so no password is needed...NOTHING WORKS!
    - I also tried another wireless router (netgear): doesn't work
I've been reading around in some forums and this seems to be an apple and maybe more specifically a macbook pro issue (just by process of elimination). One forum said that it was because of an airport update that basically "breaks" mbp's airport and makes it not accept any non airport wireless connections, apple supposedly is working on a fix but who knows
I'm feeling disappointed and very upset that this is even a problem, especially with how many people I read are dealing with the same issue wit still no solution. My mbp was far from cheap and this just shouldn't be an issue. I'm planning on contacting apple and getting to bottom of this or at least some kind of answer.

    - it will connect to the wireless router if I plug in the ethernet cord
this is because there is an actual physical connection between the router and the machine, so the router allows the connection automatically. i believe ALL wireless routers have a "Wireless Access List" in their config. the owner of the wireless router must add any machine or device seeking to gain access to the wireless router. consult your routers documentation on how to access the router from a web page and add your machine. this is usually done by adding the machine's mac address to the wireless access list. i added my 15"mbp and iphone to my netgear wireless router in about ten minutes and have no problem connecting every time.
also, when making any changes in Network Preferences, be sure to "Apply" after any change or adding any wep key. let me know if you have any questions.

  • LaserJet Pro CP1525nw cannot connect to new router (Home Hub 2000)

In December, we replaced everything EXCEPT our LaserJet Pro CP1525nw colour printer - new laptop (Dell Inspirion 15), new operating system (Windows 8.1 - 64 bit), new internet provider (Bell) and new wireless router (Home Hub 2000).
Immediately, we were unable to connect to the router. We tried all of the suggestions, including connecting the printer directly to the router - which worked, until we disconnected it and then they could not communicate again.
At the time, the only solution we could find was to connect our printer and laptop via USB cable and print that way - no more wireless printing, so unable to print from phones and iPad, but at least we could print from the laptop.
In the past month, we have become unable to use many of the features on our printer - when we try to select print options, we get the message "HPMSN103.dll has stopped working." So, we can still print, but cannot select options.
We have tried using the CD that came with the printer, and it gets to a certain point and then a fatal error occurs. We have tried downloading the "full solution" printer install program from the HP website, and the same thing happens. We have tried skipping that and just choosing the appropriate printer driver in Windows: if we only use that driver, we get a printer that shows up, but we cannot print if we select it (interestingly, though, we can actually access the printer options!); if we say we have the disc, then we get two printers showing up - we can select print options on the one that will not allow us to print, but not on the one that actually prints. If we try removing one of the printers, they both uninstall and we're back to square one.
So, we WANT to be able to get back to printing wirelessly - after all, we paid (handsomely) for a wireless printer! And we still cannot get our printer and the router to recognize each other. Can somebody help? We don't want to have to buy another printer.
    Thanks!

    Hi @Capers2 ,
I see that you are experiencing issues setting up the printer on the new router. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Thank you for providing that detailed information.
If the network name has any spaces or special characters, the printer may not recognize it.
The printer is only capable of sending/receiving in the 2.4 ghz band.
If it is set to 5 GHZ network you may need to change to 2.4 ghz. (rename the 5 ghz or shut it off)
The WPA key setting needs to be on AES to work correctly not TKIP.
Multi casting needs to be turned on.
Firewall on router has to have open ports for printer.
If you have Mac Filtering you need to give printer hardware address from Configuration page.
You might need to contact your router company for further assistance to check those settings.
I would reset the printer first to clear out any previous network settings.
Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IP address are cleared.
    Printing a Configuration Page.
The easiest way to setup the printer back on the wireless network is through a Ethernet connection and then switch over to wireless.
    Disconnect the USB cable.
Remove any printer software by following these steps:
Go into Devices and Printers , click file then Server Properties, click on the Drivers tab at the top of print Server Properties window. Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click remove. Choose remove driver and package. Any that say Universal PCL 5 or Universal PCL 6 also remove and the Laserjet CP1525nw.
The next screen will give a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system. Click yes to say that you are sure you want to do this. (if the printer isn't listed that is OK)
Right click and delete any entries for the Laserjet in the Devices and Printers Window.
Run the uninstall from the CD.
Press the Windows key and the X key together. and select File Explorer, right click the CD for the
printer and left click open in new window.
Connect the printer to the router with a Ethernet cable.
Wait about 1 minute and the printer should have a valid IP address.
Print the configuration page to get the printer's IP address to configure the Wireless.
Type the IP address in Internet explorer's address bar which should open the printer's embedded web services page.
Setup the wireless through here now.
Click on the networking tab, wireless on the left, fill out the network information and apply the settings.
After the confirmation, then disconnect the Ethernet cable.
Now you should have a blue wireless light on the printer in about 1 minute.
Perform a clean boot on the computer and turn off the Antivirus Software. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
    Run the installation again.
If you are prompted to connect the USB cable during the installation, Then immediately after connecting the USB cable, follow the steps in this document to update the drivers so it doesn't error out. A Fatal Error Displays During Software Installation. Then the installation should continue.
    Test the printer.
If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • IBook cannot connect to woreless router with airport card

    The Situation
my iBook G3 dual usb cannot connect to my wireless router. The router is using wpa and wpa2 encryption and broadcasting on 802.11b and g, on channel 12. The SSID is broadcast, but the iBook airport card cannot see it. The card CAN see other networks in my area. My iMac Mini (spec OS X 10.5.5, airport built in) is connecting to the same router and can see the SSID, so its not the aerial.
I select 'Other...' on the airport menu to connect, and type in my network name and the WPA2 Personal password. I then get the message: 'The Wireless Network <network> does not support the requested encryption method'
So what's the problem? And how can I fix it?

I'm having the same problem, but having been through the threads I'm getting nowhere!
Running a 2001 dual USB G3 Ibook. Connects fine on home network via Airport Express, but will not connect to PC/Belkin wireless network at my Dad's place. Newer macs seem to connect fine - but not my old dear.
It detects the network OK and prompts for a WPA password, but it is not recognised.
The router is set up for WPA/WPA2-PSK (AES encryption)
Tried turning the security protocols off on the router - still can't connect.
Same circular "network settings have been changed by another application" if I try and use the IBook's network / airport wizards.
My software is fully up to date - the ethernet connection works fine with the router.
    This is driving me insane!

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - Cannot connect to WLAN router

    Hi there,
    I have brought a 2nd hand Satellite Pro, Model version SP6100 (PS610E-029ZV-EN), P4 1.7Ghz, 512Mb, 30GB, with Windows 2000 Pro loaded.
I cannot get the wireless to connect to my router. The switch is in the correct position.
I want to change to XP using the key supplied with the laptop from new (dual OS) however I can't get it to reformat using an XP disc at start up or if I use the recovery cd (start with holding C down and release when it runs up) it begins but displays "invalid drive specification" three times and loads Win2000.
Can anyone advise how (or if!) I can reformat as I would like?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

    Hi Jaba,
I'm quite happy to 'start again' and erase the existing partions via reformatting however I do not know how. I have tried starting with the XP disk in the dvd drive but it starts up in to 2000 without reading the XP disk.
I would prefer WXP than W2000 as it will be for home use.
If you or anyone else can advise on how I proceed from here I would be very grateful.
    Cheers All.

  • Ipads cannot connect to wireless router

I have a Netgear C3700 gateway router/modem.  I have both a regular and a 5G SSID set up. We have TV service and internet, but haven't yet hooked up the TV just because we have too much unpacking still to do, and I need a splitter since the gateway and router will need be on the same incoming cable at this time. We just moved residences, but kept all of our same services from Comcast, and our same equipment.   Plugged the gateway in, and the Internet worked through the wired connection, and through the Powerline adapters we have plugged in for the computers.  My daughter's computer has wi-fi, and it works with the gateway with no problem. Our cell phones, all Galaxy S5s, connect, and then have a screen that we need to authorize our Comcast devices.  We did that, but I really don't think it did anything, since on the last phone, I just cancelled it out, and was still able to get on the wireless connection.  The problems seem to only be with our ipads.  Here's what I'm doing on the ipads: Settings, Wi-Fi, selecting either of the networks that I have set up.  It shows connecting to the network, with the broadcast/connect symbol showing on the top left corner.  The symbol then immediately goes away, and an Xfinity screen pops up, saying "Welcome to XFINITY ACTIVATION!  You're just a few steps away from activating your devices and experiencing entertainment like never before." I click continue, then enter in my username and password.  I have also gone the route of entering in my account number and telephone number, and get the same results.  After hitting enter, it shows "Connecting devices" then "Connection established!  Your're almost done."  I hit continue then get the message "We've noticed an issue with activating your equipment.  Call us." I called, but could not get the guy to understand what I was telling him.  I have done a soft reset, and then a hard reset of the gateway, but the problem connecting our Ipads continues.  I even tried setting up a guest network on the gateway to see if maybe that would work.  Anyone have suggestions on how to get my ipad to get onto the network?   Or should I just realize I should have gotten an Android tablet?  (DH is an apple fan.  I'm an Android girl!! Thanks!  I've tried to include everything I could think of in here that would be needed for solving the problem, but can always give more information.

if that is the case, there might be some wireless security enabled to your router... although, I believe you mentioned in this thread that your laptop will not connect to the router, maybeit be unsecured or secured... but just to be sure can you log to teh router's web-based utility..
go to http://192.168.1.1 (do it on a hardwired connection, since you are not yet connected wirelessly)
    click wireless TAB
change your wireless network name so you'll be sure that its your own network you're seeing and/or connecting
change channel to channel 11 to lessen wireless interferences... then save the settings
go to wireless security subtab. leave the wireless security mode to disabled first, just to make sure you'll connect to it...
once everything is in place already, connect to it... you should be able to connect..
if not, disable some firewalls and antivirus of your laptop... this might be the cause why you're not connecting... a router has a firewall built in to it.. then try connecting again...

  • Windows 7 on Mac 10.6 cannot connect to wireless router

We have just installed Windows 7 on our new MacBook; it is partitioned, obviously; and we can't connect to the internet. We have a wireless router (and are using ATT, if that makes a difference), which works fine for the Mac side of things. We just had a 1 on 1 session at a Mac store, and had the necessary software update(s) installed to make Windows 7 run, which it seems to do -- except for connecting to the internet. The message Windows gives us is "you are not connected". BIG HELP!!! So what don't I know?
When I try to connect, it lists the wireless network (ours). As far as I know, the proper information about the router, including the password, has been input.

    Hi,
Go to the Sierra website and look for their supporrt area. I did see Mac OS compatibiity, but it doesn't mention Snow Leopard. Most likely they haven't updated their software/hardware for 10.6
The only mention of Mac OS here is 10.4. That was Tiger, two operating systems back from Snow Leopard.

I have a big problem, i have just bought a new laptop with windows 7 64 bit. But it will not connet wireless to my WRT54G router. I have updated the router with the latest firmware but it will still not alow the laptop to connect.
I have tried on another WRT54G and this was also problem.
I friend of mine have a wireless Sagem router and here there where no problem with connecting.
    What can be the problem?

Login to your router setup page and click on the Wireless tab and below change the Wireless Channel to 11 and let the SSID Broadcast is Enable and click on Save Settings, then click on the Wireless Security tab and change the Security Mode to "WAP Personal" and input your security key, then click on the "Wireless MAC Filter" tab and if its Enable , select Disable and click on Save Settings, then click on "Advance Wireless Settings" tab and Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...

  • Cannot Connect MacBookPro to Router via Ethernet

I just bought a new modem/router and attempted to set it up using this MBP running on Mavericks via ethernet cable.  Each attempt when I typed the modem address into Safari, the blue line stuck and the MBP could not connect.  To avoid any conflicts, I turned wifi off.
I then tried my wife's MBP which runs OS 10.7.5 and this worked with no problems at all.  I then went back to using my Mavericks, but it would still not connect.
    Can anybody offer a solution?
    Thanks,

On the Mavericks Mac you could try deleting the existing Ethernet connection in System Preferences>Network using the '-' button. Save the changes and then create a new Ethernet connection using the '+' sign.

  • Cannot connect printer (F4580) to router

    Good evening,
I just bought my printer and I am having the hardest trouble connecting it to my router (Linksys WRT150N). When I try to set it up, I follow the instructions but the result is always the same! It says that the printer cannot connect to the router and it asks me if the SSID it correct, which it is! What can I do?

Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).
    What operating system?
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • After a while, cannot connect to WRT320N through 192.168.1.1

    I have a WRT320N with latest firmware 1.0.03.
Everything works OK other than the fact that after a while (hours / days) I cannot connect to the router through http://192.168.1.1 but I have connection to the internet though. If I restart the router, I cannot connect to it but after a while I can't do it again. When I try, browser stays for minutes  and eventually gives me the "Page not found error". This is happening from any computer (I have 4 computers wired and 2 wireless). The wired computers are connected through a GbLan switch and they have different OS: Vista(x64), XP(x86), Windows Server 2003 (x86) and Windows Server 2008 (x64). The 2 computers wireless connected are Windows 7 (x86) and Windows 2000. From all of them I have the same problem and after restarting the router I can connect again from any.
This behavior had been in place from the beginning but not being under pressure because I rarely have to change something in router's settings, I did not report it in time and now it seems is out of warranty.
My question is if this is something that happened to others (but I was not able to find any similar reports) or is it something wrong with my router? As I said before, other than that, router is functioning without any issues.
    Thank-you

Is someone using bittorrent or any p2p software? p2p software, downloading using torrent opens a lot of TCP port, hogging the router's resources. Thus, accessing the router's gui is sluggish or not even opening up.
    Upgrade the router's firmware.

  • WRT100 cannot connect

i can connect to the web based setup page with a wire however and i have a static ip this is my current ip address

On the router setup page, click on the Wireless tab,Change the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz..rovide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box.Under the Advanced Wireless Settings...Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
Now,power cycle the router and try to connect.
