X2100 and Fedoa Core 4

Just got a new X2100 server and need to install fedora core 4 on it with dual-core operton 64bit processor.
I have following the installation here
(http://www.sun.com/products-n-solutions/hardware/docs/html/819-3720-12/Chap2.html)
and making sure that I setup the BIOS for linux instllation. But the installation just cann't be completed. Screens of error codes comes out periodically during the installation process, sometimes during the formatting step, sometimes during the steps when actual fedora core packages are being
installed.
Does anyone have similar experiences?
I am doing PXE boot to do the installation, would it be the cause of the installation problem?
(I understand that Fedore Core 4 is not officialy supportecd by Sun but yet I was able to install Fc 4 on another x2100 with exactly the same hardware configuration.)

Yes I am loading the installation from PXE. I set the boot device to either MBA or nVidia (depending on which network interface that I used for connections). The Fedora installation always starts without problem, and then dies suddently before all the packages can be installed.
You mentioned about kernel support for sata drives. Which version of kernel
are you using? I am using 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4smp .

  • How do I find and turn Core Audio On.

When I try to open Logic it stops at “Initializing Core Audio”.
I have read the topics page and carried out all the suggestions including starting with the control key down to get into logic. When I do this logic opens and a box comes up with Launch Core Audio Driver, Yes or No. If yes, it freezes, if no I can load it up, but there is no core audio at all when I do.
In the inspector, the CORE AUDIO is greyed out. I have gone to Preferences and ticked the Core Audio box and ticked “Apply” and then it freezes again. Logic cannot see or find the Logic Core Library.
How do I turn Core Audio on? I have No Sound at all. There is no instrument list ( EXS 24, ES1, ES2, Sculpture, Ultrabeat etc) coming up in the I/O box, it only says No Plugin. When I load a previous song there is a line through the I/O instrument and no sound. In the arrange window the audio levels show that there is activity but there is no sound and the instruments are crossed out.
It seems like there is a communication problem between the program and the Core Audio sound banks. Could this have something to do with the drivers? If so, Where can I get the drivers from and how do I put them in.
Does anyone know how to get inside Logic maybe to a lower level so that I can tick some box to get the sounds back again.
If I re-install the program will it fix the problem?
Sorry to be so long-winded but I am in a mess with this, so any kind of advise would be very much appreciated.
    Many thanks.
    Roy.

I haven't had this problem, but on other computers, I have seen some sound functions only work if you don't run certain other things on start-up. Try opening System Resources:Accounts:<your account>:Login Items, and clearing out the list.
    Hope you solve it!

  • 10.9.2 lost audio and no core audio process present

This is a 2 month old MBP with the 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM.
I've tried rebooting and reseting the PRAM as well as invoking the command in terminal to kill and start core audio process. Nothing. If I look in the Activity monitor there is no core audio process running. Right now I have no audio.
The problem presented itself after attemtping to plug in a pair of earphones. I've inspected the phone jack and it is clear of dust / debris.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I found the core audio process - I didn't have "All Processes" selected in the View. I tried killing it but still no luck. I also tried resetting my SMC.

  • Cannot go to the Internet from Mac OSX, and Fedora Core 5

All Windows users (XP, 2000, Vista Beta) can connect to the Internet no problem on WRT54G with Firmware v4.20.6 (may 26, 2005). But odd enough, though getting the right DHCP assigned IP addresses and DNS server address, MacBook Pro (OS 10.4.1) and Fedora Core 5 cannot go to the internet at all using Safari and firefox browsers: the message keeps saying that your computer is not connected to the internet. Tested with BOTH wired and wireless connections, no luck to the internet. So, it's not about the wireless settings and setup. It doesn't work even if I directly connect the CAT5 cable to the router port.
Tested at wireless hotspots, at work where we have Cisco access points, and at a friend's place where there is netgear wireless router, MacBookPro is just working fine connected to the internet.
Any suggestions? Linksys doesn't support Mac and Linux PCs at all?

Thank you very much All (devildance, and Frank).
Seems like it is working fine now...
I reset the router as factory default, and reconfig the wireless setting(disable broadcasting SSID, configure TKIP PSK, and MAC filtering). Directly connected CAT5 cable from the router to my MacBookPro Windows XP. Working fine. Switched to Mac OSX, working fine. But, when I disconnected the LAN, and attempted to connect wireless, I couldn't go to the Internet using Safari and Firefox: keeps saying that your computer is not connected to the Internet.
Still could ping to 4.2.2.2 and 207.232.22.25, but getting errors "could not resolve the host name" when I pinged with the hostname bearshare.com.
Connected the wired CAT5. Working fine. Unplugged and used the wireless, could not get to the internet.
Checked the NICs settings on both LAN ethernet and wireless airport. All seems the same and correct: IP address, subnetmask and gateway address, and NO DNS entry. The same settings, but works on LAN cat5, and not works with wireless. So, for the sake of it, just manually added the DNS server IP addresses and domain names on wireless NIC. And Wala...it is working fine with wireless. Still strange the fact that Ethernet LAN NIC still doesn't have any DNS entries and working fine, but required DNS entries on wireless NIC.
For Fedora Core, could ping and resolve names without changing any settings. But when going to the Internet, got the error saying "comcast doesn't support this platform/OS" and another error "Welcome to Comcast High speed Internet....registration currently unavailable" when attempting to go any websites. Notieced that we pinging cnn.com, bearshare.com, or any websites, got ping reply from the same IP address which appears to be one of the comcast DNS server IP, 68.87.64.132.
So, I think it is a comcast issue not supporting Linux or something else which I would need to call to Comcast about...
But, thanks...looks like I can go to the Internet on Mac OSX, and Fedora core now with Linksys WRT54G. Thanks so much guys for all the suggestions....

  • Applications Core and Applications Core(Attachments) library

    Hi,
I have installed jdevstudio 11114 install .exe . I was trying to add - Applications Core and Applications Core(Attachments) library in Model but couldn't find in the "Add Library" list. So, wanted to know from which version and above these libraries are available?
Actually I want to use "Attachments feature" in ADF. So, Can we get these libraries externally and add it to JDEV 11.1.1.4 version or I will have to use different version to access Attachments feature?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Best Regards,
    Shalini Jain

    Hi,
Thanks for Replying. ADF InputFile Component is for uploading only. What I want to achieve is - I want to display Attachments for a particular Requistion_Header_Id in EBS. These attachments are stored in FND_ATTACH_DOCUMENTS and the other FND related tables. That is why I was looking for that particular library. In case you can guide me on some other way to achieve this functionality, then it will be really helpful.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Best Regards,

Will my 2010 Macbook effectively run OSX Lion if I have 2GB memory and Intel Core 2 Duo? Does it support Office 2008?

Yes, take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/SP629

I've got macbook pro w/OSXv10.6.8 and intel core 2 duo...how do i know if i have leopard or snow leopard?  i'm interested in the new lion

    tiger was 10.4
    leopard was 10.5
    snow leopard was 10.6
    and LION 10.7!!! LOL
so you have 10.6   which is snow leopard
you should be ready to update assuming you meet the other requirements.

If yes, remove it and leave only dbus
No, neither of them were in packages.i686. I even tried adding dbus to that file to see if it would help, but it didn't change the error message.
It seems like archiso is installing some core files before it installs my custom packages, and maybe that is where the problem lies, but I really have no idea.

  • MobileMe, iCloud and Macbook Core Duo

My gf has a macbook intel core duo, so we can't go higher than OS X.6 but OS X.7 is required for free iCloud.  I have an iPhone 3G which can go no further than iOS 4 and she has an iPhone 3GS which is on iOS5.
We have MobileMe which is soon to become defunct and are interested in iCloud and want our data to be synced between our mac and iPhones, but as far as I can see Apple offer no solution other than buying another new iPhone and Mac.
Is this right or am I missing something?  I find it incredible that Windows users on Vista (no hardware limitation specified but assume old PCs can't run Vista) can get iCloud but Apple supporters can't due to the software limitation.  My gf had no choice as she was starting a course and needed a computer to do her course work on and the Core 2 Duo was still not out at the time.  We went Mac as we always had in the past.
So other than spending a fortune on a new Mac and phone is our only solution Google Mail?
    Thanks.

Despite the official Apple line, you can migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud at http://me.com/move even with Snow Leopard - when asked to confirm that you have Lion on your Mac, just lie and say 'yes'. You can't get fuull functions, but it's worth it if even only to retain your mail.
If you have MobileMe mail set up to collect mail from external POP accounts you should cancel this before migrating, or you may find it still working in iCloud (where it isn't supposed to) and with no way of stopping it. You may find the MobileMe email settings will continue to work for a time after migrating but it will stop eventually so you should not rely on this. You should delete your MobileMe email account from Mail.
You can then set up Mail manually in Snow Leopard to access iCloud email; it's a slight fudge because the 'wizard' will attempt to connect you to MobileMe as soon as you enter an @me.com address. The process, which includes a workaround for this, is described here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudmail.html
You may be able to sync your calendars to iCloud by means of an unsupported hack, but you cannot sync Contacts or Bookmarks and iCloud's other facilities will not work. This page outlines the situation when you migrate to iCloud, including a link to the calendar hack:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudSL.html
There are a couple of third-party solutions which may be of interest.
BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion. A single user licence (two machines allowed) is $49.99.
Soho Organizer can sync Calendars and Contacts with iCloud on Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. A single user licence (multiple machines allowed) is $99.99.
I don't know about a phone with iOS4: I would assume you could set up the Mail app manually with the same settings as in the link above, but calendar syncing may not be possible - you would have to ask in the iPhone forum.

  • 6 and 12 core processors

Can Photoshop CS5 really take advantage of 6 and 12 core configurations?
After contacting Adobe today with this exact question, I was told repeatedly that Adobe can only release info on “minimum” system requirements, not whether the program can take advantage of such potential hardware configurations.
Thanks for any and all input!

    mmmmmm
this is a right out of the box 12 core
    received last week
she says it's slower than her G5
processing massive amounts of RAW files
from the Canon 5D Mark II
I'll see for myself on tuesday
when i try to resolve some of her issues
at the photo studio i work in
we have the same 12 core/16GB RAM
system on the way and CS5
so in a week or so i'll be able to do some
testing and really see for myself what works best
    so
my friend is regretting her 12 core purchase
let me know if there are any updates to cs5
    that might address these issues
i don't think we're the only ones having them
    on this new machine
    cheers

  • Quartz Extreme and/or Core Image on RAGE?

    Hi,
I have a Power Mac G4 and it has a 16MB AGP ATI RAGE 128 card in it. Is there anyway I can enable Quartz Extreme and/or Core Image on it? It's running Tiger (10.4.11).

This application supposedly would patch a PCI Mac to use Quartz Extreme but does not work after 10.4.3. It isn't intended for an AGP Mac. According to Apple you need a Radeon card to use Quartz Extreme: Mac OS X 10.4: Requirements for Quartz Extreme and Core Image graphics.

  • HSRP between 2 access switches and 2 core switches

Hi I am looking for running HSRP between 2 access switches and 2 core switches for client PC and Server network’s next-hop redundancy as per attached setup.
As you can see I have used one /29 network for connecting CORE & ACCESS switches & configure Interface VLAN10 (Layer 3 SVI) with shown IPs and standby IP (VIP).G0/1 on Access Switches & G2/1 on Core Switches are access ports for VLAN10.
There is a L2 Trunk interconnecting Core-Main/Backup & as well as Access-Main/Backup Switches allowing VLAN10 to allow VLAN10’s HSRP packets to pass through (apart from other HSRP instances).
Below are the HRSP & Trunk configuration on Core and Access Switches please have a look and suggest if they are correct in term of HSRP implementation, as I can see on both side HSRP master & standby status are fine as desired, but I can’t ping VIP of ACCESS Switch from CORE switch, but the VIP of CORE switch I can ping from ACCESS switch.

  • HT1463 what is the difference between intel inside and intel core

What is the difference between intel inside and intel core?

Those two terms are not directly related.  "Intel Inside" is a marketing phrase that just means that the computer that displays that phrase in advertisements has an Intel CPU inside, as opposed to an AMD processor, for instance.  That's all.  Intel core is not precisely a phrase I've seen; but it would simply refer to the central processing area (the "Core") inside an Intel processor.
    Hope this helps
