X220 - Access Connections Wireless issue - Driver disconnected while associating
I am trying to connect to our wireless network at work. I have verified that my settings are correct with the other X220s that we have connecting to our network. When the connections fails and I select "help me fix this" I get four error messages.
Thanks in advance if anybody has any ideas.
Connection status: Not connected
Cause: The driver disconnected while associating.
Error code: 229378
Recommended actions:
The selected wireless network is out of range or unavailable. Move to a location that is closer to the access point and try again.
Verify that the encryption settings (WEP/TKIP/AES) specified in this profile match those expected by the wireless network.
Verify that the wireless adapter in your computer has not been restricted from accessing the radio channels being used by the wireless network.
Verify that the wireless network name (SSID) is specified correctly. The SSID is case sensitive.
If the problem persists, contact your network administrator and provide the troubleshooting information below.

I share your pain with same Intel WiFi Link 1000 bgn. After many, many hours yesterday I am now solidly running Wireless N at 144 Mbps on a LinkSys E4200, 99% reception from 30 feet away.
Previous to yesterday I could not get 'N' to work at all.
First, if you have a newer dual frequency Router, this Intel adapter only supports 2.4ghz..
1. I am using Access Connections 5.85, Windows 7
2. Router: 2.4 Ghz Network Mode: Mixed
3. On my LinkSys router Channel: Auto NEVER worked for either 'G' or 'N'. I picked channel 4 by chance and things got better. No further experiments.
3. Channel Width: Auto (20mhz or 40mhz).
4. Earlier forums indicate WPA2-P and AES must be selected. That's what I am running.
5. Numerous references to "power" conflicts. Set all Power Management to Maximum Power.
(Control Panel -> Device Manager ->Network Adapters -> Intel WiFi Link 1000 bgn -> Power Management)
(Access Connections -> Wireless Settings -> 4. Advanced Configuration-> Maximum Performance)
If you followed these steps, Wireless G should be working stabily for you now.
Now for the secret sauce to make Wireless N work: go to http://communities.intel.com/message/82098#82098
See Feb 3, 2010 post How to get 5100 AGN to connect at N speed?
I am indebted to this guy.
Save the instructions! For some reason my EDGE 14 wireless totally quit this week and that's what sent me down this wireless rabbit hole again. At least this time I was able to make N mode work for the first time.
Frustrated but relieved,

You posted a while ago but I thought I'd mention I tried this SanDisk product - sent it back. It's not compatible with iOS 8 so I couldn't access any files. I've posted about this today as I still want to find a way of expanding the storage of my ipad.

Transfer photos using SanDisk Connect Wireless flash drive
How are photos viewed when transferred from my iPhone to a SanDisk Connect Wireless flash drive and then to my iPad or my PC. Are they placed in the camera roll like all other photos?
are photos transferred from the device directly to the camera roll?
are the transferred photos then native on the iPad? Or only viewed through the SanDisk device?
once photos are transferred from iPhone to SanDisk can I transfer to the iPad and view them as if they were taken on the iPad?
can I select ALL photos from my iPhone and transfer them ALL easily to the SanDisk and the other way around? Then transfer ALL to my iPad?The following quote is from the SanDisk support site: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10543/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNDEw NDY4NTcxL3NpZC8xblJUYjkybQ%3D%3D

Access Share - Wireless/USB Drive with KDE
I have an external hard drive connected to my wireless router by a USB port on the wireless router. Using Gnome I never have a problem conntecting to the external drive but I cannot do so in KDE. Browsing the network sees drive but when trying to connect just get the following message...
"The location 'smb:/' is invalid."
I just cannot figure out why I cannot connect in KDE. Help...thanks.With only KDE I'm unsure how to do it, I use Subtle. But you can put a line in your /etc/fstab, to mount it. (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sa … e_to_fstab). I'm assuming its samba.

HT1430 iPad connected to iMac, shows 'Disconnected' while Backing-Up
When backing-up my iPad2 to iMac, alert shows unable to complete because the iPad has disconnected.
I tried suggestions in 'iPad Support/Help' section and none of the suggested items worked.
I'm still looking for help in resolving this issue.
<E-mail Edited by Host>It almost seems to me that there might be some sort of problem with the backup itself.
I had a corrupt book download the other day - at least I think it was corrupt as it was the only new item that had been added to my iPad - and I could not get the backup to complete. I deleted the book and then the backup and sync went fine. However, the odd thing is that I downloaded the book again and it would not transfer into iTunes on my Mac. When I synced the iPad - it was still in iBooks, but not appearing in my iTunes library. It should not work that way at all and I still can't figure it out.
I share this story with you simply to illustrate that corrupt downloads, corrupt backups .... Can cause wierd issues when backing up and syncing. Have you downloaded anything recently that has given you problems? An app that crashes with frequency? Anything like that?
Which way are you syncing? Cable or WiFi? -

T43 Access Connections XP SP3 trouble
I have seen this posted around the net quite a bit, but as of yet nothing has worked for me. I can't seem to get Access Connections to work with my wifi card after rebuilding my laptop with an XP SP3 integrated installation. Unlike some other posters, I used the official Microsoft download of XP with SP3 from the Volume Licensing site rather than slipstreaming it myself.
The only suggestion I have seen specific to XP and not Vista is to enable and set to automatic the "extensibile authentication protocol" and "network access protection agent" services, as well as make sure that the "wireless zero configuration" service is operating. I enabled the two suggested services and WCZ was working, but still Access Connections refuses to believe that the wireless radio is turned on, let alone do anything about it.
Are there any other potential fixes for this problem?I updated my T43 to SP3 two weeks ago. The only issue I have had was with Java for a particular web site I have to use on a daily basis, this was fixed with an update.
Basically I let Windows Update install SP3 and after it had completed I went wireless online and ran TV System Update which updated Power Management etc. and Access Connections, no issues to report.
I would suggest uninstalling the WLAN card and AC followed by a new start. Install the latest WLAN driver and after re-starting install the latest AC followed by, if required the HotKey driver.

T42 Showing Incorrect Adapter Name in Access Connections
I am working on a T42 laptop and installed Access Connections 5.12. I have gone through and did all the prerequisites prior to installation of Access Connections (wireless driver update, UltraNav Driver upgrade, Video Upgrade, BIOS upgrade, LAN driver update, etc). I have created a profile for a wireless network that is in range and operational. My problem is the adapter is showing incorrectly within Access Connections. This wireless adapter is identified correctly in device manager as "11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter". But in Access Connections, it is showing as "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN". I am needing this to identify the correct adapter to get Access Connections to work. Any ideas?
Hi jeremieolson,
Unless you need to use Access Connections to switch among multiple *wired* networks, I'd suggest simply un-installing Access Connections and using the built-in Windows tools for establishing your wireless connection. Windows will let you establish wireless profiles just like Access Connections does. AFAIK Access Connections doesn't add anything to the built-in Windows wireless networking, and in your case it's misbehaving, so...

Access connection cannot function properly
I am using X31 running on XP. My wireless lan card is Intel 2200bg.
I have updated the driver of 2200bg, access connection, power management driver and hotkey. I can properly configure my wireless network settings through Microsoft Win XP. However, I cannot do so through access connection.
The symptons are:
1. Pressing Fn + F5 comes out a window. The status of the power of the wireless card is not correct. Pushing the key cannot turn on or off the wireless power.
Sometimes, it cannot recognise that there is a wireless card.
2. Openning the access connection, it cannot show the available networks. (though MS win XP shows that there are a lot around)Hi,
your situation looks, like missing, or misscongifuration of the apps/drivers.
So here is what I would do:
- uninstall AC
- install the latest versions of following apps/drivers:
Power Management driver
Power Manager
System Interface driver
Hotkey utility
Wifi driver
- once this is installed reboot the system
- install the latest version of AC
Let me know, if this change your situation.

After the recent update of iOS 7.0.6 my phone is having issues with wifi connectivity. It gets disconnected most of the time. I went through support page and done with "Reset Network settings" too but it doesn't help. It is very toublesome while watching videos, sending pics, chatting and so on. Please advise.
It works fine in LTE network. The problem is with WIFI only.

Access Connections 5.3 doesn't see wireless
Suddenly Access Connections can no longer see any wireless networks -- even though the Windows wireless manager connects fine. There are other similar recent posts but without a solution that works.
T41 Type 2373
WinXP SP3
Access Connections 5.3
Atheros a/b/g wireless lan mini PCI, with driver v4.1.2.156
Hotkey features 1.31.0610
Solutions I've tried already:
Ran sys update to get latest versions
turned off firewall
removed Access Connections including all profiles
removed wireless adapter driver
removed hotkey features
rebooted
reinstalled Hotkey, Wireless driver, and Access Connections
rebooted
turned off firewall again during connection attempt
Access Connections fails to connect wirelessly (but connects OK hardwired)
The Connections Status window shows wireless radio not turned on Error Code 16 (even though the radio is on). When I run repair, the error changes to code 9 - no wireless networks in range (even though more than one is in range). I can connect via WinXP wireless mgr with no problem.
Thanks for any help!well i don't have xp on my machine and it is a t61 so what i can assist with is limited. (vista business access connections 5.31) i've reviewd you troubleshooting steps but first i do have to ask since it was a sudden change do you recall installing updates or changeing any settings? if you have it set for automatic backups check to be sure everything is ok there. i wouldn't normaly suggest system restore since it messes with the registry and I'VE seen it do some damage but enymachine and user is different so you can give that a try if you can't at all recall what may have happened. you can find by going to start-->all programs-->accessories-->system tools
but just thinking off the top of my head in the advanced menu under details you change you global settings so that it wont power off the radio in any instance (but probably wont change since you can connect using the windows config) and be sure it is powered on by press fn+f5 along with checking for the wirless switch at the front of your computer, the t41 is a lil oder than mine so it may not have. and along with those drivers that you updated try updating (not uninstalling and reinstalling) the power managment driver. i know when i install my own os it runs a lot better to install you chipset and powermanagement drivers first. (that i i sugges to update and not uninstall) and since its giving an error that it can't power on thats what i can suggest.
p.s. under tools there should be diagnostics to where you can check to see if you enabled the error logging, if yo uhave that might provide further assistance.
p.p.s. i've looked up on a few other topics and it prob makes a difference with xp instead of vista because when selecting which tool to configure your wirless connection can cause an issue. but i mainly see this with older versions of access connecctions. so i guess i good question is if you were able to use windows to view and connect while you were using access connections?

Running a Thinkpad x200 using windows 7 and Access Connections 5.42.
A few weeks ago i was traveling and was connecting to a hotel wireless network.
Could receive email but wasn't able to send email due to hotel port restrictions so long-story short version-- IT staff at hotel told me to connect via LAN. Which i did by simply plugging in LAN line to the thinkpad and to the hotel -- port -- no other changes. have done this a million times at home and elsewhere.
All is well....
until....
I get home and i notice that when i use access connections, it doesn't see any wireless connections (no icons in the radar screen). It automatically connects to my home network and i can use the home profile to connect. Same for any connection that i know the SSID for -- i can't see it but i can connect to it.
But it doesn't show any icons during "find" or find again. It only shows the home icon i am connected to. If i disconnect and try to find wireless networks. It doesn't show any.
So i know
1) radio is working
2) can connect via lan
3) can connect to a known wireless if i know the SSID and either manually configure it or if i have the profile saved
4) i have run antivirus, malwarebytes - etc -- all clean
5) have rebooted, turned radio on off
6) system restore doesn't help
7) all wireless networks are now invisible to radar screen. Have tried this at starbucks, around town - etc -- available wireless network icons are invisible
I'm not sure that hooking up LAN in the hotel did anything but it seems too coincidental. Also seem to recall a thread where this has been known to happen.
Help!!!First off, it sees the networks. That's good. You reset network settings which usually corrects a number of problems. Let's focus on your home network and getting connected to that.
1. Reboot your router (just power it off for 10 secs). Try to connect. If it works, you are done. If not, step 2
2. Reset your network settings again. However, this time log onto your network by tapping Settings > WiFi > Other and re-entering your network name, security settings, and password.
Check your connection by tapping the blue > next to the network name with the checkmark. If your IP starts with 169.x, then you are connected but your router is not issuing you an IP address. This leads to a couple of additional problem areas - WEP encryption and outdated router firmware.
If you continue to have problems, tell us which router/model, security settings used, etc. -
Backing-Up 2 Macs + Time Machine Using Wireless Hard Drive Issue
I am trying to use Time Machine to back up my iMac & MacBook wirelessly.
I have a Western Digital MyBook Essential and an Iomega iConnect wireless USB data station.
I partitioned the WD hard drive so each Mac has its own partition per WD's helpline instructions. Time Machine works just fine with the WD pugged directly into the Macs via USB. The Time Machine back-ups exist in the correct places.
The issue is that I am unable to use Time Machine wirelessly. I can mount the partitioned drives just fine on the desktop and am able to access content wirelessly just fine. The iOmega iConnect (which is configured correctly for Time Machine) recognizes the drives just fine. However, when the WD hard drive is connected wirelessly, Time Machine doesn't see it (even though it is on the desktop) and so am unable to back-up.
Any thoughts?brit66 wrote:
I was told by Iomega that it is (and it's on the box). Plus it has a specific Time Machine setting to enable TM. So I have to presume that it is compatible.
Yes, I finally found that under Settings.
It adds a subfolder, which is not the way Time Machine normally backs-up, so it must be intercepting the instructions Time Machine is sending (or perhaps the sub-folder it sets up is actually a sparse bundle disk image.
In any event, you'll have to contact iomega for help.
As explained in the link in my previous post, a NAS is fundamentally different from an external HD; it has it's own operating system, so you have to use the setup, etc., instructions provided by the vendor. Also this type of setup often means you cannot do a full system restore.
