X220 display frame bends in sun light

Hi all,
today I was working for approx. 15 minutes outside in the sun when I noticed that the lower display frame of my X220 starts bending away from the display (sun was shining at the back of the unit and not directly on the inside frame). After doing some research I found a description of the problem here including a picture. My frame does exactly look the same. While writing this post back inside it starts to go away and kinda bend back. Not sure if it will go away completely. I wonder if this happens to all X220's or if I should get mine replaced. Also I wonder if that could harm the device in any way.
Thanks,
Chris :-)

Hi Chris,
you are right a bend is not a gap so a different (own) thread. ;-) Sorry.

  • Portege Z830: display frame bends and gets loose if lis is moved

    Hi,
has anyone a "loose" display frame if he moves the display led (open and close lid).
Mine is loose at the lower part of the display.
there is a gap of 2 millimeters between the tft and the metal frame.
the gap has a wide of 4-5 cm.

I did not notice such tiny gap on my notebook. But I have to say that my notebook does not contain an metal frame but plastic.
In my opinion this appears because of metal frame its not soft like a plastic part and therefore it isnt flexible.

  • Iphone display hard to read in sun light

Why does Apple continue to make iphones that have displays that are almost un readable in sun light.  New os 7.0 is worse than the old version as far as displays go.

You can get covers that will help. Also with the pull up menu you can quickly adjust the brightness to help view your display better in differenct environments.

  • Does the X220 display have an inverter?

    Hi,
Does the X220 display have an inverter?
    My story:
I got an IPS panel to normal one I have and I installed it... and It worked. But I wasn't sure that there any improvement in image quality I tried to put back my old panel. But something went wrong. The panel didn’t light up, but I can see the there is a faint image displayed. I tried to put again the new panel but got the same thing: no light is coming out.
I'm suspecting the cable as it seems very fragile.
    Thanks for helping.

  • T400s heat at the bottom of the display frame

recently, i noticed that the center bottom of the display frame is very warm, while the other parts are quite cool.
is this related to the driver of the graphic card? I recently installed tha driver provided by Lenovo (ver. 8.15.10.1855). before this, the installed driver was with higher version number, which is updated by Windows Update itself. And I do not think I have such heat problem before.
other details: i am using win 7, always wireless connection, full brightness of the display
does any other T400s users encouter similar problems?

    Hello,
do you have an LED or CCFL display?
It´s normal that your display gets warm, if it´s always running at full power  Especially the CCFL´s do so.
My suggestion, there´s no need to worry about.

  • 17" MBP Display - TN or IPS? - Light Bleed?

I've had a 15-inch Unibody MBP since December and am not thrilled with the display. It apparently uses twisted neumatic (TN) technology, as it has a very narrow viewing angle. And as has been described in other posts, many individual displays have a problem with light bleeding around the perimeter.
I'd like to know how the new 17-inch MBP compares. I know it has a greater gamut. But does the viewing angle suggest it uses TN, IPS (In-Plane Switching), or some other technology? And have any individual displays exhibited the same kind of light bleeding that has plagued the 15-inch models?

EWW: Thanks for elaborating. (Your full message isn't displaying, but I received it in the email notification. Don't know what happened to it.)
Your point is well taken, but after talking to an Apple rep, and then noting the number of posts from people who got multiple replacements with the same problem, it seems an uncomfortable proportion of 15" MBPs recently shipped are in this condition, to some degree. And for myself, far from the nearest Apple service, repair or replacement is lengthy and inconvenient.
I fully intend to have the problem corrected. But there's no hurry.

  • Safari not capable of displaying frames

I work with remote equipment using web gui for management, When I try to acces them with safari I get the message "Viewing this page requires a browser capable of displaying frames". I need to be able to use safari as I have an Ipad and I get the same message. How can I do this?

Safari is capable of displaying frames. The web application is defective. Try a browser not based on WebKit, such as Firefox or Camino. Those browsers tend to be more fault-tolerant.

    Hello, Greg et al:
I figured out the problem and got the project working (sort of): the app did not like 'resetKeywordList()' in 'localeList_changeHandler', so I set the keywordList in the two 'getKWs_[locale]ResultHandlers' directly (result of the calls to my CFC).
That fixed the issue, but not completely: if I change language while the KeywordSelect ComboBox (on the right) selected item is not 'ALL' the cartoon AC does not refresh correctly. For now, I am getting around this by disabling the language change ComboBox (on the left) when anything other than ALL is selected. This is not so bad, until I figure out what the problem is.
If anyone wants to look, you can access the Main page of the app from here, http://www.timos.com/timos/green/greenPlanet.cfm, by pressing the CounterThink logo at the bottom. The new page, not linked to from my site yet, is   http://www.timos.com/timos/green/ct/CounterThinkNEW.cfm (just insert NEW before the .cfm extension).
I know my code could be a lot better and intend to keep working on it, so I would love and really appreciate comments/suggestions that anyone wants to provide.
    Regards and ciao for now.

  • Driving PC display as a 'lamp' at frequency approaching display frame rate.

I am writing application to drive PC display as a lamp, switching it off and on. The trick is I need to do it on 10msec time scale approaching display frame rate. Basically LabVIEW has to set display frame by frame. Display color should be set by RGB. I tried changing colors of front panel and found it too slow. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello yes,
Changing the color of the front panel involves a lot of overhead, and will be very slow, as you are seeing. Using a picture control will be a lot faster, but I am afraid that you will see a lot of flicker. Ive attached a sample program to test how fast this can happen.
LabVIEW is not set up to efficiently control images on the screen directly. You may have to look into your specific video card driver properties. Perhaps you can manipulate it directly using a driver dll.
If none of these suggestions help, or if Im not correctly understanding your issue, please reply with comments or answers to the discussion above and any additional information that may help, and Ill be happy to look further into it.

  • Sun light affects the camera sensor?

    Hi
I have a lumia 1520 and once driving, my phone's camera was exposed to sun light for about 5 hrs as i put it on my car's dashboard.
after then when i take a photo i feel my images got worse in quality and color.
Am i suspicious or sun light really affects the camera sensor?

Hi, AmirTofighi. Any chance you can attach sample photos? The sunlight should not affect the camera sensor AFAIK. However, we like to further check on this since you have laid the scenario.
BTW, if this is using the built-in camera app, try using lens app and compare. Also, if you have a friend who is using the same model of the device, it would not hurt to check and compare the images taken on both devices.
Hope to hear from you soon. :-)

  • Xperia Z3+ frame bending while talking in phone

Have anybody else experienced that the frame bends while talking in the phone? I was able to bend it back to original form but what will this do to the waterproof seals?

I have experienced the same fault in my xperia z3+. It was very hot when I made a call with it and when I put it down after the call I noticed it was bent. The engineers took 8 days to come back with a very dissapointing "customer damage" decision, even though i was assured by the manager of the store that it was obviously not customer damage. Ive had all the Sony models and have had no issues until this. Have you managed to resolve your own issue with the bent frame?

Unplugged printer to move to desk, code came up improper shut down, would not respond to any input from panel or pc through software.
unplugged and let it set for 3 minutes plugged in again restarted screen came up and froze in the  default ready to print screen. console would not respond to any inputs even the power  button.
Unplugged again using the attempted the hard reset as mentioned on the community boards holding the power button.
Printer started no display, ran a print job no problem, color picture no problem, no magenta still but it did print from pc. Console has no lights on. power button will not respond.
Tried the # 6 button hold unplugg and replug routine.nothing same results.
dismantled the side to unplug the logic board and remove cmos battery and let it set for an hour. reinstalled noting that none of the capacitors looked bulged anywhere on the board.
Plugged power supply in lights up at connector, plug into printer ,no lights after a few seconds the printer goes into self test and sits there no display ,no lights on. Tried to print diagnostics, printed everything but magenta band of color , software shows no problems.
aside from taking the printer apart and using boiling hot water to clean the magenta print head circuit, what happened to the display? what can i do now with out spending more thanthan this is worth? i have some technical skills so time is not a problem.

    View Solution.

    Hi Gary,
Unfortunately, it sounds like the hardware has failed. I can't recommend any other solutions that you haven't already tried. The next step would be to service or replace your printer.
    Service:
Determine if your product is in warranty or out of warranty. If you need help determining your product’s warranty status, go to HP’s Warranty Check Tool .
If your product is in warranty , contact HP support.
If your product is out of warranty , click here to view additional printer support options starting as low as $20.
    Replacement:
Consider taking advantage of HP's Trade-In program: http://www.hp.com/united-states/tradein/home_flash.html
Sorry I don't have better news for you!
