X220 Fingerprint enrollment problems post domain migration

We recently reinstalled our 2008 R2 domain moving it from a SBS to a full server environment. We maintained the original domain name and re-created the users with the same credentials. I am using a X220 which runs Win7-64.
Following the joining on the new domain my fingerprint continued to work and log me on to the new domain however it wasn't behaving properly within Internet explorer continually asking for my password to be re-entered so I decided to try re-enrol all fingerprints. I used the Lenovo fingerprint software and the first thing that stood out was that there appeared to be no fingerprint to delete when I logged on, however when I went into the configuration it has the option to manage enrolled fingerprints. It showed nothing however it showed that I had 19 free enrolments still possible.  After I exited from this screen I now had the option to delete previously enrolled fingerprints which I clicked on and chose all rather than the my user options.
Following this I rebooted and went into the bios and selected to erase the fingerprint reader within the bios and rebooted back into the system. At the logon screen it advised me no fingerprints were registered and that I should enrol some. I logged in manually and went to the fingerprint enrolment assuming everything was now reset. I then attempted to enrol my right index finger and the system advised me the finger was already enrolled, so I went back to fingerprint management option which still showed no detail however it now shows 21 free fingers. I noticed also that my left index finger is enrolled however I am free to enrol other fingers.
I now ensured that I had the latest Client Security Solution software 8.30.0.53-64 and Fingerprint software 5.9.5-64 and still I have the same issue. I have even fully uninstalled the fingerprint software and used the Windows biometric software which also reflects no finger prints however when I try enrol those fingers it advises already enrolled?
What do I do?

  • Post domain migration Outlook needs Flush dns intermittently

We have office in two cities X & Y, Y city is HO. Our entire DNS Server, Exchange server is in Z i.e. Head Quarters. Y city has file server, DC, Firewall. X & Y are connected via VPN tunnel. After our domain migration from abc.com to xyz.com only
X city few laptop users on wi-fi started getting issue of 'Outlook freeze- connection store/restore error' emails are stuck in outbox and not received. Only when we do ipconfig/release, renew, flushdns...it resolves the issue temporarily.
We found that issue might be on Wi-fi (Cisco SOHO - 3) we have changed the DNS setting of the WI-fi, pushed the DNS in host file, pushed in laptop settings, reduced the voltage of the wi-fi. Restarted the servers in Y city. Not sure if it is DNS or Wi-FI
issue. Still the problem persists. Please advice.

there is no easy way to find out the issue if it is related to client side configuration. as you already mentioned that it works after making DNS changes so the issue is somewhere at the Wi-Fi. it also depends how big is the mailbox, and if the outlook is
setup to cache mode or not.
For further troubleshooting I will use that same laptop on the wired network.
also if that Wi-Fi has Ethernet port I will connect a Hub/switch to it and then connect the laptop to the Ethernet.  This is tell me if the issue with Wi-Fi on the laptop or the Wi-Fi Access Point.

  • Still about domain alias and domain migration

Our company is under a domain name transition. Currently, our domain is lab.D.com, and we are moving to aaa.com.During the transition, we wish both domains could work for us for a long time.
I added a domain alias aaa.com for our domain lab.D.com, the ldif shows:
    dn: dc=aaa, dc=com, o=internet
    objectclass: alias
    objectclass: inetDomainAlias
    aliasedObjectName: dc=lab, dc=D, dc=com, o=internet
    dc: aaa
after restarting msg server, I can send email to [email protected] which is acutually [email protected]
However, this is only half-way to my goal. I wish our emails at receivers' mailboxes were [email protected], not [email protected], if we send emails though loging in web mail typing [email protected] in the user ID box, or by creating [email protected] accounts in MS Outlook.
===> Is there any way to do it?
===> can [email protected] account be created in MS Outlook?
In another post about domain migration, you suggested:
If you want to stop using the old domain, and make the new domain your "default domain", that's a little harder. It involves several steps:
    1. changing all the mail addresses.
    2. changing the "default domain" settings everywhere.
===> I wonder, how to do it? is there any command? ldapmodify?
as an alternative approach, if we decide to change our email addresses to [email protected] first,
===> will emails sending to either [email protected] or [email protected] arrive at users who are still in the lab.D.com, if I only change all the mail addresses' domian part to aaa.com since I have added domain alias aaa.com?
and, I do not think sending emails from [email protected] to the internet would be a problem, right???
The iMS we use is iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 (built Feb 21 2002), Directory Server is 4.16 which are very old versions :(
    Thanks.

I make no claim to be a programmer, nor am I expert
    with ldap commands.
I know of no easy way to change all, other than
export to ldif, and use a global change with a text
editor, and then re-import.So, db2ldif -> change in text editor -> ldif2db, right?
Another question here is about Direct LDAP.
    I enabled Direct LDAP.
aaa.com is the domain alias to lab.oldD.com (our old domain).
I also have changed user alas' email addresss from alas@ lab.oldD.com to [email protected] and added mailAlternateaddress for alas as [email protected], as you instructed in previous posts.
However, whenever I click "send" either to aaa.com or lab.oldD.com, it shows errors, for examples, - "Returning unknown or illegal alias: [email protected]", "Returning unknown or illegal alias: [email protected]"
    The log shows:

  • Fingerprint Profile while changing Domains

Thank you for all help and ideas, ahead of time.  We use Lenovo Thinkpads with Fingerprint readers.  We are in the process of migrating to a new domain.  When configuring Fingerprint under new domain, after deleting all previous fingerprint profiles, but the configuration does not accept the new Domain.  How can we reconfigure fingerprint profiles to new domain?  Thank you

    morenoar, welcome to the forum,
did you delete the fingerprint profiles in the old domain before switching or after?
are you trying to register the same finger's fingerprint?
have you tried clearing fingerprints in the BIOS security menu?

  • Fingerprint reader problem on windows 7 clean install:- good images, combination failed

    Hello,
this is my first post here. I have a clean install of 32 bit win 7 and everything is working fine apart from the fingerprint reader. When I go through the fingerprint enrollment software, I swipe my finger 3 times, getting a confirmation each time with the message "good image. After this I get a 'combination failed' error. Could you help me to get this to work?
I have drivers installed by TVSU 4.0 and the biometric device is recognized and installed in devices as Authetec AES 2810.
I have already tried deleting fingerprint info in BIOS.

Do you have the latest driver version installed?

  • VTP domain migration

    Hi,
we're having a problem with the migration of VTP domaing .
For the moment our server switches are vtp server in domain X . Our distribution switches are vtp client in domain X and the access switches are in transparent mode .
The goal is to make our distribution switches VTP server and access switches vtp client .
We already did this successfully for several distrib switches and now we're trying to migrate the main building .( about 21 access switches )
When configuring the distrib switch as vtp server we loose our connection with the access switches and it doesn't come up again . In the past we had a outage of about 30 sec for spanning-tree .
We get the following message on our access switches
    Aug 11 16:41:53.182 CEST: %SPANTREE-7-RECV_1Q_NON_TRUNK: Received 802.1Q BPDU on non trunk FastEthernet0/3 VLAN20.
    Aug 11 16:41:53.182 CEST: %SPANTREE-7-BLOCK_PORT_TYPE: Blocking FastEthernet0/3 on VLAN0020. Inconsistent port type.
    Aug 11 16:42:11.282 CEST: %SPANTREE-7-RECV_1Q_NON_TRUNK: Received 802.1Q BPDU on non trunk FastEthernet0/4 VLAN20.
    Aug 11 16:42:11.282 CEST: %SPANTREE-7-BLOCK_PORT_TYPE: Blocking FastEthernet0/4 on VLAN0020. Inconsistent port type.
Aug 11 16:43:38.381 CEST: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet0/4, changed state to down
on the website it says that link should be restored automatically .
Our ports are configured as trunks with native vlans defined
    switchport access vlan 20
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 20
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,20,700-799
    no ip address
    duplex full
Does anybody have an idea about this ? My guess is that it gets stuck with recalculating the spanning-tree .I checked the bugs but nothing seems to match this case.

Explanation A Shared Spanning Tree Protocol (SSTP) bridge protocol data unit (BPDU) was received on the listed interface. The interface was in trunk mode but was not using 802.1Q encapsulation. is The interface ID is char.
Recommended Action Verify that the configuration and operational state of the listed interface and that of the interface to which it is connected are in the same mode (access or trunk). If the mode is trunk, verify that both interfaces have the same encapsulation (ISL or 802.1Q). Once these parameters are consistent, spanning tree automatically unblocks the interface as appropriate.

    Hello.
The "server restart needed" is handle by wlst like this: http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs100/config_scripting/config_WLS.html#wp1029452
Furthermore: http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs92/config_scripting/reference.html#wp1153965 but I still don"t know if a MBean is modified with this attribute, anyway, it could suffice for you script I think.

  • Firewall problem in domain environment

I have built two domains for testing purposes. Having deployed domain controllers, exchange servers, sccm/scom servers, sql servers along with some client computers I noticed that I had problems accessing some of servers/clients - I could not manage
some of them directly with manage command from domain controller or access them via unc path. Some of them I could not ping neither. I was able to solve these problems by changing inbound firewall rules on these machines thus
allowing some connections such as smb-in, dcom-in . . . In my production environment (I have been working there as system engineer for almost seven years) I have never had these problems - any domain member, whether it has been server or client, was easily
accessible (managed from dc, unc, ping, . . .). I could deploy GPO with all necessary settings for inbound rules but it should be done automatically - as soon as machine is joined to the domain it must be accessible by using at least common protocols such as
dcom, smb for managing or simple file copy operation. I checked my production environment again and there were no GPOs for altering default firewall settings on domain member computers so I have no idea why this is happening in my testing domains.

No one but me has access to these machines. Also Symantec Endpoint Protection software is installed on these machines as it is the case with my production machines where everything is functioning flawlessly - as I mentioned I can access all my machines
in production domain via computer management, smb, ping . . . One of my test domains has FFL/DFL Windows Server 2008 R2,  the same as my production domain, the other one has FFL/DFL Windows Server 2012 R2 and it is created for learning purposes. As I
said, in both test domains, all domain computers have SEP installed - the same version and configuration as on my production machines. I have not done anything related to firewall in my test domains on problematic machines - I installed OS on them, joined
to the domain, installed SEP and afterwards I have worked with specific product machine was created for - SCCM/SCOM, Exchange, SQL . . . servers and their clients.

  • Active Directory Cross Forest Domain Migration

    Dear All,
We are in the process to rebuild new Active Directory infrastructure. Multiple single forest domains in organization which needs to be consolidated/migrated on single Active Directory Domain. For this consolidation, have some queries to be addressed before
    going to start consolidation.
What is the best practices and what tool should we use for domain migration/consolidation
Active directory is on Windows 2003, forest and domain level is on Windows 2003, this will support to Windows 2012 R2 forest and domain functional level, will be migrated
directly from windows 2003 to windows 2012?
When move users to new domain, how will they access the other resources on the network. For e.g. Printer, File server, local web base application
After moving some computers to new domain would be possible to access remaining computers on old domain?
How the file server data will be moved? Best practices with NTFS folder permissions and users rights?
Is there any policy to register network printers on new Active Directory domain?
How users would be access web base application on new domain as their FQDN would be define with old domain name? Any option to change old domain FQDN with new domain that would be describe with any URL link?
Kindly give your valuable input to meet the desire result.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Dear Lucky,
Ya you can Migrate contents from multiple forest domain. Using ADMT (Active Directory Migration Tool)is the best way to migrate AD content. But you can't migrate from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2012 R2, cause in Windwos Server 2012 R2 don't
have the supportebility of Windows Sever 2003.And not only users you can also migrate all others info (i.e. Computer object info, groups info, Exchange mailbox info, security info). You can migrate users face by face, means which peoples are in old domain they
can access old domain and new users are in new domain. For more info please follow the given link:

  • Domain Migration :from single domain to multiple domain.

    Hi ,
We have an urgent requirement for the domain migration
The scenario is currently we are using MS AD as LDAP server to store portal users and thier credentials.
Lets say we have current domain name as : ad.abc.com
we are planning to migrate from this domain to number of domains.our requirement is to move the portal users into thier specific domain in batches.eg out of 5 users 2 has been moved to new domain and other 3 are still in ad.abc.com.
But after domain migration ,all the 5 users <b>should</b> be able to access all the applications and functionality of portals.
What should we do to achieve the same?
How portal applications will be affected by this? Can all the users access all applications without fail?
What exactly the LDAP does in portals?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in Advance
    Amit

    Hi,
Yes, you need to prepare Active Directory and domains.
What's more, you need to upgrade existing Exchange 2007 servers to Exchange 2007 Service Pack 2 at least.

  • Problems with Oracle Migration Work Bench (OMWB)

    Hi
I am asking all "migration experts" here to give me a hand.
I'm trying to convert an Access DB with loads of tables to Oracle 10g (Expresss Edition, actually) with OMWB version 10.1.0.4.0 (newest available version) and have some serious problems:
    1) The migration creates the complete Oracle data model and database, but does NOT migrate the data to the new DB. This is a pain somewhere, as I have about 80 tables, and the only way which would be working in most cases, but far from all, is to export the data to .csv files and load it on the other side with the "load text data" function of the XE DB.
The first "bad sign" is that the Access application which comes with the work bench and which is supposed to export the data model AND the data (2 separate functions), does the export of the model OK, but the data export only lasts a second, and does not append anything to the xml file created by the data model export
The message I invariably get at the point where the data should be migrated is "Unable to migrate data from source <Access DB table name> to destination table <Oracle table name>;[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] File "unknown" not found ! Very helpful... What is that ?
    2) The "Modify the Access application" phase that comes after the migration only worked once, and now comes up also with an error: java.sql..SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The data source name was not found, and no standard driver was indicated
So, with these 2 things, but especially point 1), most of the use of the tool is gone.
Can someone tell me what I do wrong, or where the problems are ?
    Thanks
    BAlex

Please contact [email protected] with the following information.
    1. Workbench version
    2. ODBC driver information
    3. Problems encountered
If possible, could you attach the error.log file produced by the Migration Workbench (located within %ORACLE_HOME%/Omwb/Log).
    Thanks in advance.

  • Hey Verizon / HTC / Google  Please fix the caller ID problem, post 2.2 Froyo UPDATE.

Hey Verizon / HTC / Google  Please fix the caller ID problem, post 2.2 Froyo UPDATE.  This is a major Problem.

I have provided some steps below that may help with the Caller Id issue you are experiencing.
Try completing a soft reset on the device. A soft reset would be powering the device off and pulling out the battery. Once the battery is removed, place it back in and power the device back on.
Dial *228 and send. Once dialed, listen for the recording to prompt you for option 1 and select option 1. The phone should complete its programming within a minute.
Ensure you are using the area-code and 7 digit number format (ex. 9999951212)
Try removing the contact and re-adding it.
