X220 i5-2410M msata work or not?
Hi, I have just ordered a X220 with the i5-2410m, and was about to also order a 64GB msata SSD. At first I thought i would be fine because the msata problems were only on i7 models, but now i have found a few people saying it also affects some i5 models, however no one lists which ones. Is there a definative list anywhere on which models can use msata anywhere?
Also, if i need to wait for bios update, can i install that prior to intalling windows? Or do you need operating system installed to flash bios?
Also, does using one 250GB 5400 HD plus msata use much more power? Does anyone know the model of 250GB drive the X220 comes with, so i can check the power draw?
Thanks everyone.....looking forward to my new travelling powerhouse. Was origannly going to by samsung series 9 but am glad I found out about this, should be more reliable for travelling the world, and much less likely to get stolen. ( It looks just like my Dad's first laptop 15 years ago

Yours won't come with Windows pre-installed? Anyway, the BIOS can be flashed either with a bootable CD or from Windows with a .exe program (both downloadable from the Lenovo website).

LOL, you're right about that. At first glance, it's hard to tell whether a ThinkPad is new or 10 years old. The X220 is a stealthy machine with its combination of old styling and diminutive size. At my office, I was using my X220 to show a colleague how to do something and he said, "You have that installed on your netbook?"

1TB HDD 7mm for X220. Can it work?

I own an X220 thinkpad with the original hitachi 320 HDD 5400 RPM (7mm).
I was wondering if the new 1 TB HDD (7mm) by WD blue (WD10SPCX) can work on my machine?
My doubts arise because:
1. In WD site, the specification of the HDD say its length is 100.2 mm, while the description for the Hitachi HDD that I have say it's: 100 mm. Could this new HDD be too big for the x220 or these 0.2 mm are negligable?
2. It's a new HDD, maybe using a different/new hardware that is unfamiliar to my 1.5 year old x220. Will the x220 Identify this drive? Will I be able to install the Windows 7 from the Recovery Windows 7 USB I created using lenovo software?
Has anyone tried installing 750GB/1TB 7mm HDD on an x220 and knows if it worked or not?

Go to Solution.Just a correction, the X220 Sandy Bridge chipset has two SATAIII (6 Gbps) interface, one for the main hdd and another for the optical drive. The mSATA is SATAII (3 Gbps).
However for normal hdd, SATAI, SATAII, or SATAIII doesn't really matter all that much, since they can't exceed even SATAI bandwidth.
Most of the current hdd is backward compatible with SATAII and SATAI standard.

X220, storage options. mSATA and SSD?
I have been using my x220 and it's been working great, but I'm slowley runnig out of space. I'm a field tech and our company is picking up a 3rd line and that means more manuals. Right now I'm running a 120gb SSD for the OS with 8gb of ram and a 64gb SD card for the storage.
I have 2 opptions in my budget. pickup a 120gb mSATA and run the OS on that and the 120gb SSD as storage, or put back the original 320HDD for storage. I'd love to put in a 240gb mSATA for the OS but at over $200 cant swing that right now.'afternoon.

imho, a great configuration for the X220 is an mSATA SSD for os/swap/temp paired with a fast platter drive in the main bay for data/documents/personal files. others like an all-SSD solution and i don't disagree... i'm just waiting for the 512gb SSDs to come down a little in price, though they're already under $1/gb.
my personal X220 is set up with: 256gb m4Crucial mSATA SSD + 512gb 7200 Hitachi Travelstar (7200rpm/32mb cache) + 16gb ram, configured as above.
in your situation, where you've already got an SSD in your main bay, i'd probably try to sell the 320gb platter drive to raise funds to allow purchase of the bigger mSATA SSD to use as the data drive and leave your OS on the 120gb main bay SSD. then, as budget/price allow, you could upgrade the main bay to a bigger SSD, reconfiguring the contents as apprpriate.

This changes from time to time. When the iPhone 6/6+ was first released those were the ONLY phones you could purchase on Early Edge. This was for September and October of 2014. You would not have been able to purchase any other phone with Early Edge at the time. At the time, this made a lot of android phone owners angry, just as it is making the OP(an iPhone owner) angry now. Then it was the Droid Turbo ONLY, then it was....
One of the requisites AS LISTED ON THE EDGE PAGE is that your line must be eligible for an upgrade. Verizon lifts this requirement IF you want to purchase a specific phone. If the phone you want is not eligible for Early Edge at this moment, it may be at some point in the future and the phone CURRENTLY available may NOT be available for Early Edge. You were able to get the phone you wanted on Early Edge because it was the phone(or one of the phones) eligible at the time for Early Edge.
Verizon does not have a link for Early Edge because it is not always available AND the eligible phones change from time to time. This is no different than any other special they occasionally run.
Regardless, since a link WAS given for Edge which DOES list upgrade eligibility as being a requirement, if someone DOES NOT fulfill that requirement it is not out of the question that other portions of Edge may be different, too, such as what you posted "All Verizon Wireless smartphones, tablets and basic phones are eligible for Verizon Edge." If Verizon relaxes a requirement to enter into Edge, why is it so hard to fathom they may ALSO change something else such as which phones are eligible???
The fact that the OP IS NOT able to purchase an iPhone on Early Edge simply reinforces this fact. -

After updating to v. 24.0 (and restarting, several times) ALL add-ons (regardless whether they work or not) are marked "(disabled)". I tried clicking "Enable" button for each add-on and nothing happened. There is only one add-on which is marked as incompatible with this version (but it was also incompatible with previous version, and so marked).
Clicking "Update Add-ons", gives a short list of add-ons but "Install Updates" button is pale and doesn't work. I can only sort list by name or last update.
Also, I disabled Ask Toolbar and that went well. When I click "Enable" button (button works ONLY for this add-on) it takes forever to get note: “Ask Toolbar will be enabled after you restart Firefox”, I used to get this info in seconds time before this update. (I do not really want Ask Toolbar, I just used it to see whether if I disable and then enable an add-on might do the trick.)
Bottom line – I can not tell if add-on works (i.e. if it is enabled or disabled) unless I try using it.
Even when I posted this question and installed Troubleshooter, it's also marked as "(disabled)"You're welcome

JInternalFrame not opening in JAR file, but works when not in JAR
I have a folder that contains multiple .class files. I make all the class files into one jar file with this command:
jar cmf mainClass.txt myapplication.jar *.class
The mainClass.txt contains the following:
Main-Class: myapplication
class-path: myapplication.jar
The myapplication.class opens up a JDesktopPane inside a JFrame. It also contains a start menu, which again has elements that opens up misc JInternalFrames inside the JDesktopPane. The problem is this:
When I run the application from a .bat file, everything works fine. However, after making the JAR Executable file, everything works except 1 JInternalFrame. Now, the code for this JInternalFrame is far too much to post, so I'll have to ask as follows;
Are there any reason why a JInternalFrame would not work from inside a JAR Executable, but work when not in the JAR file? Especially when other JInternalFrames are working? What can make 1 JInternalFrame different from the others in this regard?Perhaps the problem lies somewhere else.
Obviously if other JInternalFrames are working then there is a difference in the one missing internal frame that causes it not to show up.
My guess is that perhaps you are missing one or two classes in your JAR that are used by that JInternalFrame and that an exception is being thrown causing it not to show.
Double check the contents of your JAR and make sure that all the classes are present and that they are the right versions. -
This problem started about 10-20 days ago.
After login to the e-bank on line service of the Eurobank EFG Serbia further work is not possible because the screen became gray and an error message appear: Keyboard Navigation Disabled.

I have scanned my laptop and cleaned few fond viruses. Have uninstalled and installed again Java so now I have:
- Java 7 Update 21
- Java 7 Update 21 (64-bit)
I have uninstall and reinstall Firefox.
Result is that now I can run e-bank online in IE but not in Firefox.
Customer support service from the bank told me that the problem is related to the browser...Problem still exist - looking for a solution.

I have a new iPhone 4s - having lots of trouble with Siri. It seems cranky - sometimes works, somtimes not. My other issue - is there a way to create a mail signature using the font I use in Outlook (or can I import that signature)? How can I find fonts availble on my phone?

My iTunes v.10.6.3.25 is intermittently refusing to open. Sometimes re-booting my laptop works, sometimes not. I just put the computer to sleep, and when I woke it up, iTunes started automatically (I had been trying to open it just before by clicking on a song file in my Documents window, and that's the song that started playing when the pc woke up). I went to my iTunes Help and clicked Updates/download iTunes 10.7 twice, but got nothing. Now, Im wondering if I should downloacd the entire 10.7, or whether that would overwrite all my files, erasing my songs. Anybody know? Thanks.

Here's what I did:
First I tried the Winsock reset in the Command prompt. Nothing changed.
Next, I tried the instructions on http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123. The only other program that came up on the 'Winsock Providers' tab on the program was 2 Windows Live applications, which I can do without. So I deleted all Windows Live Applications.
I did the Winsock reset in the Command Prompt again and rebooted my comp.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. iTunes keeps freezing at various stages of the sync, then shows the candy cane-striped bar with either the words 'Finishing sync' or 'Cancelling sync', before showing the Apple logo.
Sometimes, iTunes gets to the syncing stage - "Copying # of ####" - where it will trudge through the first, second and third tracks before flashing "Copying 4 of ####" for a split second and I catch "Cancelling sync" briefly before the Apple logo appears.
Again, I've repeated the steps I mentioned in my previous post. Does ANYONE know when the new version of iTunes is set to be released?! This one is driving me INSANE, to say the least!! -
Can anyone help me figure out how to sync my ipod with my purchased music? I have used several computer and at one point synced my ipod with a computer that only had about half of my music. My other computers are no longer working. Not sure how to get my purchased music back onto my ipod?

Your previous purchases are saved on iCloud even if you bought them on another computer. If you can't find them on your current computer, you might need to unhide them. Go to iTunes preferences, and click on Store Preferences. Then click the box for "show iTunes in the Cloud purchases". Then click on OK, and everything you've ever bought from iTunes on that Apple ID will show up in your library. You will need to download them from iCloud first before you can synch them to your iPod Classic. To do this, click on the little cloud with the arrow in it next to your song, and it will download to your computer. When you have the music that you want downloaded, plug in your iPod and synch away. Hope this helps!

My Mac Mini doesn't recognize my Avengers DVD--it keeps saying "Supported disc not available." I've tried other DVD's which work, but not this one. itunes and everything else has been updated to the newest versions. Help? Also...It doesn't recognize the digital copy DVD.

It sure sounds to me like something on the iPod is broken. If it's under warranty then I would send it back for repair. If not, check out some of the web repair services, such as iPodResQ etc. -
all the links in the header of any websites are not working, the cursor is not changing into pointer and no way to click on any link located at the top of any website page. I reinstalled firefox and it s the same. No problem in others browser. the tool bar is working but not the links inside any web page located between the top 300px height.
