X220 Touchpad Doesn't Scroll Down, but scrolls up

I just got my X220, installed all relevant Windows and Lenovo updates, restarted several times, but the touchpad doesn't scroll down.  It only scrolls up.
Also the touchpad tap action (which is same as left click) is not as responsive as I like.  Is there a setting for that?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

It is a bit more responsive now and is scrolling down more.  Not sure what has changed.  It is still not as responsive as it should be.  I'm clearly sliding my finger down on the scroll side of the touchpad and it doesn't scroll.  Yet sometimes it scrolls.  Something is still wrong.

  • Synaptics touchpad doesn't scroll after Windows 10 upgrade

I installed the Windows 10 upgrade today (From Windows 7) and now the scroll function on my touchpad doesn't work and it's driving me CRAZY not to be able to scroll!  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Synaptics driver without success. Help! Thank you!

Hi: That happened to me too on my HP 350 G1. On mine, I went into the control panel, and I changed the view to Large Icons (because it is easier for me to find stuff that way). Then I found a Synaptics Luxpad control panel icon. I clicked on that and found that the scrolling feature was unchecked. I checked it, hit apply and close and now I can scroll again.

  • Touchpad no longer scrolls up and down on Satellite A

So my HD crashed and i have to completely install Windows and all the Toshiba stuff with it a new.
All is well - except for one thing, my touchpad no longer scrolls up and down using the side of it in IE or Chrome, but it still works in SeaMonkey.
My Computer technician tells me it's an issue with getting some new driver for the touchpad, and i think i had to do that already about a year ago when i still had my original HD running.
So i went to the Toshiba.ch website and tried to find something.
I found all their "verfication" stuff and got inside the system and it instantly returned about 45 drivers by the looks of my "un"-driving eyeys they all could have been for whatever, so i searched especially for "touch pad" and yes, there was one for my Synapsis touchpad and XP as well, so i downloaded it - or i should say i opened it in Win Zip and checked first on the "readme file - wow, that was some Portugese in there, and that's when i kind of begun to feel lost.
I check in at Toshiba.ch, get a ton of drivers in my face i have no clue whether i am supposed to download them all or what, and when i finally pick what i think i need the whole thing seems to be in Portugese, what the crickey in the afternoon is this???
Anyway, before i download and try to install stuff i have no clue about i was hoping someone would actually give me a better hint on what i have to do exactly to get my touchpad to scroll up and down again also in Chrome, IE and where ever else.
I use Service Pack 3 on Win XP Pro and was told that's maybe why the old original driver for this laptop needs to be updated, but which file, where to get it, and how to properly install it please anyone???

Thanks for that, you confirm what i actually found out myself in the meantime.
The way i got this issue solved was that i first tried to download and install the Synaptics driver from the Toshiba site - that simply failed miserably, glad with no negative side effects at least.
Nesxt i used what unfortunately is way easier that sites like the Toshiba overload, i used Google to simply find the Synaptics website and instantly got the link to their driver download - eh voila, that actually gave me a .exe file, not an endless array of zipped files like the stuff on the Toshiba site in endless language versions!!!
This worked, tested everything out alread since a while.
    - Which now leaves me with the question about the second driver you mentioned,
    Alps Electric
what is that one needed for??
I have not seen this name on my lappy before, so totally unsure about whether it still needs this dispite things are working everywhere, i did not even have to go into the Device Settings of the Mouse / touchpad to change or rearrange anything in there after the direct download from Synapsis, but well informed is always best, so if you could let me know about that
    Alps thing would appreciate...

  • Mighty mouse scrolls down but not up

why is my mighty mouse scrolling down but not up on my browsers?

Usually it is accumulated crud: skin oils and flakes of skin and dirt, but some have been accepted for repair by Apple. Occasionally a restart fixes the problem. If not there was a recent discussion that yielded several promising suggestions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2248877#2248877
These included cleaning the ball with a soft cloth, cleaning the ball with a baby wipe, and disassembling the mouse to thoroughly clean the interior.

  • Itunes installs ok but doesn't scroll properly. plz help!

Ive installed itunes so many times, it doesn't scroll properly and i cant see the file, edit, view etc..(the bar at the top). I cant get a clear view of all my music and its driving me mental!! Does any1 kno wots wrong?

It may be that the toolbar is "hiding" off the top of your screen. Try reducing the screen resolution (right-click on the desktop, select Personalize, then Display Settings). If that then allows you to see the iTunes toolbar, drag it lower on the screen, then set the display resolution back to normal.
    Hope this helps.

  • [UNSOLVED] Synaptics Touchpad & Firefox: Horizontal Scroll

Hey guys.. i'm having a problem with my laptop's Synaptics Touchpad and Firefox.
I can't seem to get my touchpad to allow me to scroll horizontally in the browser (when, say, there's a wide image on a page for instance). Whenever I try to scroll by sliding my finger side-to-side on the bottom edge of my touchpad, the page scrolls up and down, just like the vertical scroll on the right edge!
At first I thought it was a problem with horizontal scrolling on the Synaptics driver in general, but I discovered that if I have something like File Browser open, I can scroll horizontally with the touchpad, so the problem lies ONLY with Firefox.
I have looked for solutions already and everything I find only talks about a possible issue where Firefox might treat the Touchpad's horizontal scrolling and Forward and Back actions and how to fix this. But this is not the problem I am having. But I do have mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action set to 1 in my about:config, which from what I've read is supposed to be correct to allow h. scrolling.
    Any ideas?

FYI, with my Synaptics touch pad and firefox, it works, but I have the mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action set to 0 (default). In fact, all of the settings in about:config with 'mousewheel' in them are all at the default setting. I just had to setup the xorg.conf (old way) or the the /etc/hal/fdi/policy/11-x11-synaptics.fdi (new way) correctly to enable the horizontal scrolling.
    Good luck!

  • JTree in JScrollPane doesn't scroll

I have a JTree in a JScrollPane that doesn't scroll.
    Background: it used to!
History: I moved the creation of the JTree to inside an Object that returns it with a ".getTree()" method. Since then, it hasn't been scrolling. I even set the JScrollPane to always have scrollbars and they just sit there inactive.
Does anyone know what this would happen and/or how to fix it?
    thanks.

That actaully worked, but it was way to big. I'm not sure what I did, but I changed the values to Studio ONE's defaults and now it works ok.

  • Touchscreen monitor Windows 7 doesn't scroll library grid?

A big bummer that in the library grid mode (or any other scrollable part of lightroom) I can't scroll with my touchscreen monitor like I can in IE or Chrome or Word etc.??  What is touchscreen compatible in lightroom? I would love for lightroom to be touchscreen friendly.

When using Windows 7 built-in touchscreen/tablet functionality with a multi-touch compatible monitor, most larger popular programs will let you scroll vertically by just sliding your finger up or down anywhere within the active window, just like an ipad to scroll up or down. You don't have to use the scroll bars on the edge of the window which makes it nice to work through web pages, pdf files, word files etc.  Lightroom 3's library grid scrolls up and down, BUT you cant just finger slide up or down within the window area like most other programs, you have to resort to using the default small scroll bars on the side of the grid (which are too small for finger-touch sliding. thus killing the functionality of the touchscreen monitor).
I am slightly hand impaired from doing tons of mousework but can work through many pages by touch. I know that lightroom is not built as a "touch-enabled" program (most aren't) but I was hoping, at least, the scrolling functionality that works with most others would work with lightroom.
I own an Acer t231h 23" HD monitor with multi-touch capability with windows 7 64bit running an Intel I5 with 8gbs Ram, with a second 23" Dell monitor.  The acer monitor lays at 30degrees on my table and so I can stand over it and easily take care of business (still using mouse for 50% of work).

  • Installed Firefox 3.6.10 now my mouse wheel doesn't scroll

I just installed FF 3.6.10 update, and now my mouse wheel doesn't scroll. I checked my mouse settings, and all is correct. Mouse wheel scrolls in non-Firefox applications, including off-line folders and online IE. Mouse wheel worked fine with last version of FF. Also tried hooking up a different mouse, (an old mechanical one at that), same problem. If this cannot be fixed, how can I uninstall the latest update and rollback to the previous version?

thanks for all the tips, however none of these work. Installed 3.6.10, 3.6.11 and latest version 3.6.13 but the mouse wheel is still not working.
Waiting for comment from Mozilla. If they take this problem serious, which I doubt, reading about the problem since September and 86 people who reported...

  • Use touchpad can not scroll up

    Hello
I am on a windows 7 ultimate edition computer. After installing new safari 5, I find out that I can not use my touchpad to scroll up anymore (conventional touchpad with up and down slide on the side)
My touch pad is : Synaptics PS/2 port Touchpad
Is there anyone else with same problem or know the solution to mine?
    thank you
    fendfred

    I’ve been hating this Safari super lag for several weeks and simply followed the below steps;
-- Open System Preferences and click “Network”
-- Select your connection method (AirPort, Ethernet, etc.)
-- Enter the following items in the “DNS Server” field: 208.67.222.222 (OR?) 208.67.220.220
    -- Click Apply
Totally fixed it, very simple, Apple should publish it — all links now opening instantly or in 1 second = Woo Hoo!! Danka Danka HELLO APPLE?!?

  • Intermittent bug in Touchpad One-Finger Scrolling with High-DPI display scaling

This one is quite strange (since it does not happen all the time) but very annoying - on my T420s (with 1600x900 screen) I am using 150% DPI scaling in Windows7 (Pro x64). Ultranav driver is 16.2.5.0.
I am using the preinstalled Chrome browser in a rather default configuration - and by default that program declares itself not High-DPI-aware and gets scaled up by desktop composition - something that can be changed in the properties from the compatibility tab, but which I keep like that since there are sites that look better this way!
Long story short - touchpad scrolling fails to work in more than 50% of the cases in that specific Chrome setup in a way that strongly suggests it is a bug where the touchpad scrolling program fails to account for the fact that Chrome runs "scaled-up" - if Chrome is maximized and the mouse is positioned in the top half AND left-half of the screen scrolling works as expected, HOWEVER when the mouse pointer is positioned (still 100% over the Chrome window) towards the right/bottom extremes scrolling fails and the Ultranav driver seems to send the scrolling messages to some other window than Chrome! (since it seems to fail to take into account the 150% scaling - so it gets wrong values with GetWindowRect and should probably use instead stuff like DwmGetWindowAttribute(hWnd, DWMWA_EXTENDED_FRAME_BOUNDS...))!
    Steps to repeat the bug:
    - Windows 7 machine, large-resolution screen with Custom DPI text size set to 150% and the older XP-style scaling disable (which enables the new DWM scaling)
    - Chrome browser in default mode (which will use scaling); to repeat things easily the window should be maximized and the URL should be set to some long page on which scrolling can be performed
    - scrolling should be enabled in Touchpad settings (I do not normally use ChiraMotion, but I do not think it makes a difference)
    - mouse pointer should be positioned in the right-most 10% of the window and Touchpad One-Finger Scrolling should be attempted;
    - in many/most cases the scrolling messages are sent to some other window beneath Chrome (but NOT always, so it seems there might be another factor in play)
    - it is interesting that the different TrackPoint scrolling seems to work even in those conditions.
