X220 / Ultrabase Series 3

The ethernet port on the ultrabase stopped working. Windows shows the port as "unplugged" When docked, the ethernet port on the X220 will not work either. When undocked the X220 ethernet port works. I've switched out the ultrabase with a different one and the problem remains. Anyone have any ideas?

Great! that is the answer I am looking for. Thanks a lot!

  • X220, UltraBase Series 3 and DVD Multi IV, series problem

    Hi,
    I have these combination:
    ThinkPad X220, 4286-CTO i7/USB3.0 model
    ThinkPad UltraBase Series 3 P/N: 0A33932
Serial UltraBay Slim DVD MULTI IV P/N: 45N7451 (HL-GU10N)
    I have encountered this problem:
When the DVD writer is in the Ultrabay and I init a system undock (Choose Eject Docking Station from system tray), the system freeze. Same when I press the button at left side of Ultrabase.
When DVD writer is in the Ultrabay and I slide the switch near Ultrabay, the system freezes.
If I turn on the "Power Off CDROM device when idle" in power management, the system freezes after some idle time.
Everything works fine when the Ultrabay is empty.
Is seems that everything points to the DVD writer, however the same DVD works well in X201 Ultrabase.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks

  • Which hard drives are compatible with the Ultrabase Series 3?

    Hello,
I recently purchases a ThinkPad X220 Laptop. I'm looking at picking up an Ultrabase Series 3 dock, but I'm a bit confused about which hard drives can fit into the dock. Can any 2.5" SATA drive work? Does the dock come with an adapter for the drive to fit in the bay?
    Thank you for your help.

  • X230 Table doesn't detect DVD Multi IV Ultrabay Slim in UltraBase Series 3

We bought two X230 Tablets for two Professors of our University and I'm responsible for getting them ready to use.
Unfortunately the DVD burner isn't recognized in the UltraBase Series 3 that we intended to use together with the X230.
I tried it with both of the UltraBase units, with both X230 Tablets and with both DVD burner.
Did we buy the wrong devices? Is there any driver necessary?
The DVD burner is not listed at all in the device manager (Windows 7), not even with missing driver. I can't open the disc tray and the LED is not on.
    Please help!!!

Try to set this in BIOS:
    Security -> I/O Port Access -> Ultrabay (HDD/Optical) -> Enabled

  • X230T - No audio through Ultrabase Series 3

    Hi,
I have a ThinkPad Ultrabase Series 3 that I have used for the past 12 months with my X220T. I have purchased an  X230T now and placed in to the same Ultrabase Series 3. Everything seems to work EXCEPT I don't get any audio through the speaker out port in the docking station. Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone let me know if it works on their setup?
    Thanks

  • Ultrabase Series 3 Garantie

    Hallo,
ich  habe eine Frage bezüglich der Garantie der Ultrabase Series 3.
Laut beigelegtem Zettel habe ich 3 Jahre Garantie:
    http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/options_iso/tp_ultrabase3_swsg.pdf

    Hi joph, willkommen im Forum,
    leider hat nicht jede Ultrabase Series 3 drei Jahre Garantie, dies ist von wie es gekauft wurde abhangig. Könntest  Du bitte die folgende Infos über das Notebook mitteilen;
    Typ & Modelbezeichnung;  z.B  1234-12G
    Bestellnummer des Gerätes; z.B. NA23BGE
    Danke im Voraus

  • X230 and the ultrabase (Series 3): Enough clearance below for ventilation?

Hi. I'm posting this here as the ultrabase is meant only for the x series.
I'm thinking of grabbing the ultrabase together with the x230, as it would be much cheaper this way.
I will probably use it 80% of the time in the office, 8-10 hrs a day, 5-6 days a week.
Would love the output to a big monitor, ext keyboard.
The ultrabase dock seems to be a nice solution.
But I'm also very extremely **bleep** about heat... especially with my long-usage patterns.
Are there enough clearance between the x230 and the ultrabase for air to flow sufficiently?
I am also considering using the USB 3.0 Dock (part no. 0A33970)
    http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?...
for connection instead, and have a good cooling pad below the x230.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Much appreciated thanks

    hi,
i use my x230 with an ultrabase 3 about 8 10 hours by day for programing so i use a lot of resources processor and i have no problem with the heat and i check it sometimes
this computer is amazing and much more with the ultrabase

  • X220 Ultrabase external USB HDD strange click sounds on boot

I have X220 and Ultrabase 3. External USB HDD (WD Passport) is connect to one of Ultrabase USB ports. When I reboot and press F12 to get the boot menu there are two strange click (or scratch) noises coming out of the external HDD. One click before the menu appears and second after boot device (CD drive) is selected. I tried different HDD with the same result. It loooks like a short power drop or so but it happens with the boot menu only. The first external HDD I used for three years is damaged now, don't know whether it is connected with this issue. BIOS version 1.38, no USB 3 port. I found the issue is specific to Ultrabase USB ports. When the same external HDD is connected directly to notebook USB port, it is fine. I use the Ultrabase setup for booting from Acronis TrueImage bootable CD to create backups. Anyone has similar issue ? Is possible to use the notebook USB port when it is docked in Ultrabase ?

It could be that the port where it does not function may not be producing sufficient power for the given HDD.  It has been shown that all USB ports do not output the same power.  You might test with a USB 'Y' connector or a powered hub.
    Ciao.

  • X220 ultrabase usb replicator stops on undock/sleep

    Hi:
ultrabase usb replicator works fine, then, upon:
    - selecting undock from start menu
    - selecting sleep mode from start menu
    - physically undocking and docking
    - waking-up using button on ultrabase,
the ultrabase usb replicator stops working, which is verified from the device manager.
have reloaded bios, firmware and usb drivers with no luck.
    any ideas?
    thanks!

    I have a 3-week old x220. i have been able to:
    1. undock (via software), then put into sleep mode, then remove laptop from ultrabase.
    2. replace laptop back into dock and wake up.  all usb ports on dock became functional.
as of last week I started experiencing same exact problem as the first poster. where upon wake up none of the usb ports on the dock are functional.  even if i pull out a usb connection from the dock then insert again, it is never seen by the x220. these ports are somehow disabled.
Anyone with an advice?  Thanks in advance.

  • X220 ultrabase 3 power adapter/optical drive?

    Hello,
I'm interested in X220 i7 with Ultrabase 3 to replace my old x200 with ultrabase 2. Anyway, I have questions about reusing some of my old stuffs from my x200 ultrabase.
    1. I have my old DVD drive (44C5203 I think) that works perfactly fine. Is it compatible with the new Ultrabase 3? or I need to order a new one.
    2. I also have extra a 65W adapter sitting around. Do I need to get 90W for using with x220 and ultrabase 3 (with optical drive)?
    Thanks,
    Solved!

    1. yes it is compatible as they use the same type of connector interface.
    2. with ultrabase 3 you can use the 65 watt adapter.

  • Multiple external displays for X220 + ThinkPad Series 3 Docking Station

I have ThinkPad X220 [PN#4290HT6] and will plan to use 02 external monitors.
My plan is to buy ThinkPad Series 3 Docking Station and 02 external monitors.
Is ThinkPad Series 3 Docking Station working with 02 external monitors by my X220?
Which ports of Docking to be used [VGA or DVI]?
    Thank you!!

I would be verry happy if you could post the results of your check (the "amperage" especially).
Yes, I am aware that there are 2 versions (with and without eSATA). The one I have ordered is unfortunately the newer one, with USB 3.0 (no eSATA). But from reading other threads I know that the eSATA port on the docking station is limited - it is not powered (eSATA-p, but plain eSATA), in contrast to the laptop port, so I will not be missing this feature so much as I thought I would. I will still connect directly to the laptop port instead. Why?
I'm using one-cable connection (powered eSATA cable eSATA-p connector to normal SATA drive connector) to connect external 2.5" drive to easily boot the alternative system. Great solution, by the way, and very cheap, cost of ca. 10EUR incl shipment (Delock is the only brand I've found that produces such cables). I never liked the need to have additional power adapter or USB power connection for SATA connection - too many cables for me. So initially I was looking for the older version of docking station. But after reading about the above limitations of eSATA port on docking station, I gave up, because I would still need additional USB cable to power it up when connecting to the docking station.
Unfortunaltely, all W-series compatible docking stations are very rare on the used market here in Poland, so I didn't have too many possibilities to choose from.

  • X230T - No USB through Ultrabase Series 3 on Win8

    Hi There!
Set up my new X230T with Win8 now.
Most things are working fine, but when I mounted it on my Ultrabse the USB Ports doesn't work.
I have sound and the DVD Drive is also working.

Could really need some help on that.

  • Ultrabase vs docking station for X220

I have a lenovo thinkpad x220.  I want to be able to use a docking station with the monitor down on the laptop.  My end goal is to use a monitor with the tinkpad in a docking station and then use the usb ports to connect a full size keyboard and mouse with my 23" monitor.  all this while the laptop screen is down.
can i do this with the Ultrabase  Item model number: 0A33932?  it is less expensive than the Docking station.
thanks for the help in clarifying the difference between these 2 products.

no they are not inter compatible.
X220 uses Ultrabase series 3, or Series 3 dock.
The X61 uses X6 ultrabase that were only compatible with X60s, X60, X61s, X61 machines.
