X220 & Windows 8 Radio (Fn 5) settings

I've installed the Windows 8 drivers for my x220 and I have some problems..
1. Bluetooth comes on automatically when I restart. It won't remember that I had it turned off prior to shutdown.
2. The Windows 8 (right-hand side setting bar) toggles wireless off and on when I hit Fn-5. It has no setting on it for BT. How do I get this toggling to stop?
3. I also get the older menu at the same time (which is what I would like to have). This has functions to turn both radios off and on. Unfortunately, when I hit Fn-5 to get to that menu...I get the problem I described in #2.
I've searched through the forums and found a couple of other similar reports, but no solution. Is this a lost cause and Lenovo isn't going to really support the X200 on Windows 8?

You need to change setup.exe in c:\drivers\win\hotkey to windows 7 compatibility after you run 8jvu34ww.exe which creates the hotkey directory in c:\drivers\win,.

  • How to remove the pop-up window ''Wireless Radio Status" for t430s

Hi, I have owned my t430s for now about 2 years without any major complaints recently I've had to use the fn + f5 function quite frequently, because of my poor internet connection. so that way i can reset which signal I want to choose because the default signal I am connected to is not mine. My problem is similar to what is posted here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-and-Helix/how-to-remove-the-pop-up-window-Wireless-Radio-Status/td-p/1191059 I really want to get rid of the pop up for this feature, I've tried to follow what the other thread user's have done and try out their solutions but it does not work for my t430s i tried changing the pmev thing to what was posted in the thread. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

I already tried that as mentioned in my original post, it doesn't work. I still get the pop up message: this is me pressing fn + f5

  • Windows 7 ignoring my pagefile settings

I have Windows 7 Professional 64bit set up on a system with a mirrored system drive, and two non-mirrored drives, including an SSD drive that is configured with ReadyBoost. Because mirroring is for data integrity, and has a performance cost associated with
it, I do not want any pagefile on my system drive. Instead, I want page files on the non-mirrored drives.
So I use Computer->Properties and access "Advanced System Settings" to bring up the System properties dialog. I click the "Advanced" Tab and in the "Performance" section, I click "Settings" to bring up the "Performance
Options" dialog. Then, I click the "Advanced" tab and in the "Virtual memory" section, I click "Change" to bring up the "Virtual Memory" dialog. There, it lists the drive letters and paging file options for each
    drive.
I set the SSD drive (A:) to "Custom size" with "Initial size (MB):" as 24576 and "Maximum size (MB):" as 24576, and click "Set".
I set the other non-mirrored drive (B:) to "Custom size" with "Initial size (MB):" as 24576 and "Maximum size (MB):" as 24576, and click "Set".
I set the System drive (C:) to "No paging file" and click "Set". I have also tried setting the System drive (C:) to the "Minimum allowed" value of 16MB (both initial size and maximum size).
I get the appropriate warnings, if I set "No paging file", and accept the consequences. If I set the 16MB paging file on the system drive, I don't get a warning about not having a pagefile.
I reboot, to let the new settings take effect. When the system comes up, if I had set "No paging file" on the system drive, Windows informs me that it has created a paging file on the system drive, and that file is about the same size as physical
memory, i.e. 12G., and the "Performance Options" advanced tab reports that the "Total paging file size for all drives" is 12288MB.
If, instead, I had set the System drive to have the minimum allowed paging file of 16MB, "Performance Options" advanced tab reports "Total paging file size for all drives" is 16MB.
In no situation does it ever honor the settings shown in the Virtual memory dialog box for the other drives.
I have checked that "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PageFileOnOsVolume" is set to 0, and "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\TempPageFile" does not exist OR has
been set to 0 (Windows always changes this parameter to 1 if I have selected "No paging file" for the system volume. So I change it back to 0, reboot, and Windows changes it to 1 ad creates the 12288MB pagefile on the system volume).
I have disabled BitLocker -- it cannot start up.
I am really not sure what hoops I have to jump through in order to convince Windows to use the pagefile setup that I specify. At the very least, if I set up the minimum pagefile on the System drive, to avoid the bulk of the performance consequences of paging
to a mirrored drive and to prevent Windows from automatically creating the 12G pagefile on the system drive, I do expect that the other pagefiles on the non-mirrored drives will be used by the system, but the "Performance Options" dialog makes it
clear that the only paging file in use is the one on the system volume -- exactly what I do not want.
Can you please tell me how to get Windows to respect my chosen settings?
I have also tried moving one of the non-mirrored disks from an I/O card SATA controller to the built-in motherboard SATA controller, but Windows 7 still flatly refuses to honor any pagefile settings that would either add a pagefile on a non-system disk or remove
the pagefile entirely from the system disk.

Is the article about PageFileOnOSVolume also applies on Windows 8.1 x64 too?
    A key was created on:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
called PagefileOnOsVolume and inserted the value of 0.
I suppose it wasn't already created since there exists another pagefile on a storage spaces drive. So according to the article you refer to, since default files used were c:/pagefile.sys and e:/pagefile.sys the OS is not obligated to create this
    key inside the registry.
I use BitLocker to encrypt my OS drive and fixed data drives on a computer without TPM. Unfortunately, Windows still ignores the setting and creates a temporary Pagefile on the OS drive!
Should I create the key, then reboot with default settings and after that modify the virtual memory settings according to my will? Or, conversely should I restore the defaults on Virtual Memory settings. reboot and check if Windows have created the
respectable key on their own? After that we should be able to just change it's value to zero.

  • Error: "Windows could not apply unattend settings during pass [offlineServicing]"

    Hi,
Using Windows Deployment Services and PXE boot, I am getting an error when installing Windows 8.1 and Windows 2012R2:
"Windows could not apply unattend settings during pass [offlineServicing]"
Deploying Windows 7 does not have the same issue.
The images were created from MSDN ISO's downloaded directly from MDSN - no modifications.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks,

Just to be on safe side I would copy the Install.wim and boot.wim file. Then try to run the setup again with new files.

  • X220 Windows 7 x64 Pro Blinking Cursor of Death

Currently, when I start my X220 it won't boot to Windows 7. Instead, it just sits at a blinking cursor in the top-left hand corner. The keyboard is alive (i.e. I can get a response out of CapLock and NumLock).
Here is the tragedy of today, told in as few words as possible.
    1. Installed Comodo Disk Encryption and encrypted primary drive (Windows7_OS).
    2. System Rebooted to blinking cursor of death (but no response from CapLock and NumLock)
    3. Played with a lot of BIOS settings, eventually reset to System Defaults because they didn't get me anywhere.
    4. Removed HDD and installed into SATA->USB enclosure, attached drive to my Dell Workstation.
    5. Using Comodo installed on the Dell Workstation, I mounted and unencrypted the drive.
    6. Reintalled HDD into laptop, problem persists.
I assume I've wrecked my MBR in some way and I can't reload it to the Lenovo magic MBR. Currently, Disk Manager of the Dell sees three partitions:
    1. SYSTEM_DRV -- Healthy (Active, Primary Partition)
    2. Windows7_OS (G -- Healthy (Primary Partition)
    3. Lenovo_Recovery (H -- Healthy (Primary Partition)
Obviously, these drive letters are G + H because its being mounted on my dell currently.
Any suggestions? I'm sort of at a loss here. I can download generic tools to repair the MBR, but I've read that this won't help me. F11/ThinkVantage doesn't work.

When you say 9i, does that mean JDeveloper 9.0.3 ? that's the version I want to run.

  • X220 windows 7 factory restore error message

My X220 laptop windows 7 recently infected and when trying  to restore that to factory setting a message pops up
"ERROR 1" and I don't have DVD driver. Anybody can help me with that please ?

I've had a similar problem when attempting a restore to factory settings on my Lenovo 3000 N200, running Windows XP.  I resolved it by leaving the battery plugged in, but by disconnecting the AC power adapter. Then when the restore was up and running I then plugged in the adapter so the laptop wouldn't run out of power before completing the restore.

  • X220 - Can't change UEFI/BIOS settings anymore, locked out of update

Since a few weeks my X220 is not able to make any changes to the  UEFI/BIOS settings. When trying to do so either any changes get silently ignored or I get one of the following error message while trying to save.
Security - Failed to save storage: Setup. Status: 0x9
Security - Failed to save storage: PwdStatusVar. Status: 0x9
Security - Failed to save storage: LocalSecurityVars. Status: 0x9
Didn't find anything on those errors here or on the web, unfortunately.
This is with UEFI 1.19, unfortunately this problem even prevents me from upgrading to the latest release (this is a linux-only system, so no Windows-tools, also I had UEFI-only enabled in the settings when this happened, so the Update-CD won't boot). Also I had some parts of the hardware disabled when this started to appear, so can't reenable them anymore, which is pretty bad as you might imagine.
    Three notes:
*) there is one exception to not being able to save, I can successfully set (and remove) a supervisor password, but that's all
*) After the UEFI tries to save the settings there's a hang for 2-3 seconds, don't know if this is related.
*) The time from pressing the power button until the X220 reaches the boot loader is significantly longer since this effect showed up
Anyone got a clue what these errors are actually about? I thought about pulling the BIOS/UEFI battery and trying to force a reset of the settings that way. Is this safe or a bad idea?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think you should call the support team in your country and request service:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-4HWSE3
Otherwise, if you're comfortable removing the keyboard and palmrest, you could try to disconnect and reconnect the CMOS battery.  But there's no guarantee that this will solve the problem, which I why I think the better idea is to call the support team.

    Hi,
There are multiple aspects of your requirements. So let's take them one at a time.
You can achieve it in the report program or you can use a combination of the both along.
You can create a standalone report program using the ABAP Editor (SE38). In the report program you can call the SAP Module pool program by CALL Screen <screen number>. And then in the module pool program you an create a subscreen and can handle the window popup with 2 radio button and an input field for getting the text.
For help - Module Pool programs you can search in ABAP Editor with DEMODYNPRO* and you will ge the entire demo code for all dialog related code.
For Report and other Module pool help you can have a look at the following:

  • When dual-booting with Windows 7, Mac OSX time settings reset every reboot.

I have recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my mid 2010 MacBook Pro via BootCamp (Running Mavericks BTW). Everything runs grean and have not experienced any problems on the Windows side, but I have a problem with Mac OSX now. When I am using Windows 7, and I reboot into Mac OSX, I find that my time settings are wrong. It seems like my time zone has changed, because the date is correct, as well as the minutes, but the hour is always wrong. When I go to Date & Time in System Preferences, and my time zone is correct, but I still have to chage the hour in the time. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to stop it would be greatly appreciated.

If you dual boot your Windows PC with OS X or Linux, you may have experienced a problem in which your clocks reset themselves incorrectly every time you boot into Windows. Here's a simple registry edit to fix that.
Essentially, the incorrect clock setting happens because OS X and Linux use GMT time while Windows tries to synchronize with your local time zone, getting confused when you reboot between the two. Apple's own Boot Camp drivers for Windows are supposed to fix this problem, though some users have noticed that it still happens even with the drivers installed, and some Linux users are left out in the cold. Furthermore, if you have a Hackintosh, you can't install the Boot Camp drivers, so you'll need to find another way around the problem.
To fix it, just hit Start and type regedit.exe in the search box. Hit Enter and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation. Right click anywhere in the right pane and hit New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name it RealTimeIsUniversal, then double click on it and give it a value of 1.
Lastly, reboot into OS X, then reboot back into Windows. You should now notice that your clock actually displays the correct time.

  • Windows 2012 RDP "resets" user settings while using Roaming Profiles

Last month we installed a RDP environment running a Windows 2012 DC and 2 Windows 2012 RDP servers. The RDP servers are running in a pool.
For the rest it's nothing fancy.
The problem is that user-settings are reset, most likely during logon. This only occurs when we use Roaming Profiles.
    - We create a new user, in a container with no GPO's attached.
    - This user gets a RP while logging on, no errors, at logoff the RP is written to it's correct folder.
    - Logging on again. Now for example I make Chrome standard browser and change the program which opens JPG files.
    - Logging off
    - I check the NTUSER.DAT in the RP folder and the changes I made can be found in the file. So it has been saved to the NTUSER.DAT.
    - Now I login again and check the settings I made. IE is standard browser again and the JPG setting is also back to standard.
    - Logging off
    - Checking the NTUSER.DAT in the RP folder and yes, everything is back to default.
Now the funny part is, when I create a user with a local profile, everything is working properly. Settings been saved.
It doesn't make a different what kind of user it is. Domain User, Domain Admin. They all have the same problems when using RP's.
No error messages in the Event Viewer.
I'm clearly unable to solve this problem. Hoping someone can help me on this one.
What makes the settings reset at logon while using Roaming Profiles?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Have you enable Cache copies option of roaming profiles?
This issue might occurs because the User Profile service does not load the terminal server roaming profile correctly after the user account password is reset.
When the Delete cache copies of roaming profiles Group Policy setting is enabled, and when a user is prompted to change the user account password, the User Profile service loads a local temporary user profile. The User Profile service loads this user profile
to perform the password reset operation. However, the profile changes to a combination of the local temporary profile and of the roaming profile after the user password is reset. Therefore, the terminal server roaming profile is not loaded correctly.
In addition, please try to delete the SID of the user from registry key and check the result. You can follow the below path.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
    More information:
You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon” error message
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215/en-us
Also check “User Profiles on Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services” article.
    Hope it helps!
