X230 Problem powering laptop

Hi,
I have a problem powering up my X230 (2325), searched through forums but couldn't get an answer.
When I am on battery and I hibernate/shutdown the laptop, I am unable to power on the laptop. When I press the power button, the power button glows green, the think light flashes, keyboard illuminates but the screen stays blank.
Multiple power ons, like switch off and pressing the power button again, sometimes brings up the system. Most of the time its just the blink of the think light and constant glow of the power button.
Whereas, if I am on power source (not on battery), when I press the power button (little long press, like 2-3 seconds), the laptop immediately comes alive.
I am running the latest BIOS version, 2.56, 8GB ram, Windows 8 OS and latest drivers. Tried loading setup defaults also. 
Another problem I have is my Integrated webcam is not detected at all. It does not show up in the device manager.
Can someone please guide me why this this behaviour with power button and the camera? Is there any fix for this?

Look in your TV settings for "just scan" "dot by dot" or similar setting.

    iDevices can only be synched with one library.  However, you can sync successfully with more than one computer if each has a copy of the same logical library - the identifier that iTunes uses to determine which library is synced an iDevice is recorded within the iTunes database (the iTunes Library.itl file).  The best approach is to replicate your complete library (database, media, artwork, associated files) from one PC to the other.  When you reinstalled iTunes on your laptop it will, by default, have created a new library with a distinct id from that of your other machine.  Even if you copied all your media from one to the other, iTunes will still see the libraries as distinct with respect to syncing iDevices.
    If you have configured iTunes to organize your media and to copy files to the iTunes Media folder, then the complete library will be contained within (by default) C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes, with a structure of subfolders and key files like this:

    select Choose Library..., navigate to the iTunes folder you just copied, select the iTunes Library.itl file you'll find there, and click Open.
    For future reference, you can use turingtest2's user tip on Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy for a suitable method to backup your library to an external drive - you can then, with care, use this to keep the copies of your common library in sync across your laptops.

  • Sound problem in Laptop Compaq Presario

    Hi, please help me because the sound in my Compaq Presario3614 AU disappears suddenly from time to time .
    I managed to bring it back few times by restarting the laptop but it doesn't always work. I've also reinstalled the drivers, so it worked again, but no more now after I've turned it off.
    When I tried to open volume control, it said that there is no device installed, but in device manager all seems ok. I don't understand why all these troubles.
    I used XP SP3,
    AMD Turion x2
    1Gb Ram
    I bought this laptop almost 3 years ago. I need it for my job. Please help

    hi, my laptop just sent to hp service center to maintain few weeks ago.. coz of laptop cannot on...
    now i'm facing another problem after laptop has been sent back to me that the audio sound was disappear automatically...
    starting is just need to restart the laptop then sound will come back... but this time even getting few times restart... still didn't have sound..
    at control panel audio sound.. it's just write that "no audio sound"..
    device manager i have check there is no miss driver for audio sound.
    i have try to install the software from the support driver... cannot install and ERROR..
    Another things i found out that.. the laptop is using for conenxant audio sound.. when the laptop didnt have any sound.. the control panel and device manager din have conenxant audio sound device... seems like the software was disappear...
    i have post the same problem.. but din have any reply...
    our problem is same... now no more sound pop out again even after few times to restart the windows....

  • Powerful laptop for video editing?

    Sometimes people ask what laptop to buy for video editing. My laptop has the following specification.
    1 gigabyte graphics memory (NVIDIA GeForce GT 620M)
    Intel core i7 3632qm CPU (quad core, 2.2 GHz with maximum 3.2 GHz).
    5400 RPM hard drive in two partions C: and D:
    6 gigabytes with RAM
    I use Windows 8.1, with Windows settings for maximum performance.
    I have spent more than 200 hours editing a project which is about 110 minutes long. 
    RAM, graphics card respectively CPU have been no limitation. But my hard drive must often work hard.
    Partition C: became full with media cache files since my project is so big. So in the future I will put the media cache files on partition D: For this project I solved the problem by deleting those media cache files which were no longer needed.
    Alright, I have been forced to split up my long project into smaller pieces. So I have projects which each contains a few hours with raw material, out of which there is about 10 minutes on the timeline. For each project I export a video file. These files I import into another project where I join them into one video file which is 110 minutes long.
    I find it inconvenient when PE 12 needs more than one minute to load a particular project. This is the reason why I split up my long project into smaller pieces.
    To avoid confusion, I never use video transitions. And I only use video effects when I am forced to correct poor footage. So in each project there is at most about a minute of footage to be rendered. I mean, even though I don't render, PE 12 works well.
    I hope this will help those who need to buy a laptop for editing.

    I should had expressed myself differently.
    No, I have not monitored CPU usage because it is the hard drive which limits how fast my laptop works.
    There is one advantage with having a track for video expanded rather than collapsed. One can see what one has already put on the timeline without moving the cursor. If one waits until the computer has generated pictures on the timeline.
    But I realized that with my laptop one has to wait uncomfortably long for those pictures to be created. So it is faster to move the cursor to that position where I have guessed that I have already put the footage I want to find.
    b.
    I have not tested multiple monitors. Neither would I bother if CPU usage increased because it is the hard drive, not the CPU, which limits how fast my laptop works.
    c.
    I have not used Premiere CC so I have not checked the hardware requirements.
    Unless I have misunderstood something, Premiere CC has somewhat higher hardware requirements than Premiere Elements. Understandable since professional camcorders use higher bit rate (more information per second) than cheaper camcorders.
    So presumably I would be forced to split up my projects in even smaller parts to make everything manageable. On the other hand, using footage which is intra frame compressed rather than inter frame compressed would mean that the hardware needs to work less hard, so perhaps it would be possible to edit long projects.
    At the same time, some professional programs can work with proxy files, and in that case the high bit rate for professional footage would be no problem.
    Besides, unless something is wrong with my memory, Edius has somewhat lower hardware requirements than Premiere CC, so possibly that program would be more relevant for usage on my laptop.
    Higher bitrate means that there is room for fewer hours with raw material on my single hard drive. So with 100 Mbps I would in practice be limited to creating movies which are at most about 40 minutes long.
    One advantage with professional video editing software is that it can edit video with higher resolution than 1920*1080. But I doubt that would work on my laptop.

    Yes it works. And after posting in another forum in my native language, another film maker commented that he had edited on a laptop with even less powerful CPU. For him it was also the speed of the hard drive which limited how fast his laptop worked.

  • Lenovo x230: Problems with Login and Startup of programs

    I have a few problems with my Lenovo X230 Laptop

    Every time when i'm pressing Win + L to lock my account for windows. It will go smoothly to the lock screen and when I return to my laptop. And I press ctrl + alt + del  to unlock the laptop it's going to a blue screen and the mouse is still visible and I can move it around. ( The laptop is not crashing it is not a BSOD ) its just go's to a blue screen and then I must restart the Laptop if I want to use it again
    have someone the same issues?  And is there a solution for this problem?
    And i meant the background screen color of qquestion  ( 3. ) with blue screen

    And when I'm starting a application in Windows 8 and not 8.1  it's starts. And then I will close automatically there our no errors or problems will be displayed in a box or something like that

    end i have another problem with login in to windows  when i have type in my username and password And then i press enter to login.   • X230 suddenly powers off

    I have been using my X230 for last two years without any problems and it still works fine except for one thing: very recently I have experienced a sudden power off a couple of times. I don't remember whether it was plugged but my battery is perfect for sure. While operating normally, the power suddenly went off. So I had to reboot it. This happened around 5 times last couple of weeks. 
    I realized that I have never done a system update since I purchased this so I tried to do that but it doesn't work. (See my another post below for this issue.)

    I am experiencing a similar problem with my 2 year old ThinkPad x230 laptop.
    In my situation, the computer goes completely dead instantly on a random basis.  It is like the power supply just disappeared.  No attempt at a normal shutdown process.  Just instantly dead with black screen and no indicator lights..
    In my situation the problem happens regardless of whether the computer is operating on battery only, battery + A/C supply or just A/C supply.  (Just in case I recently ordered a new OEM 44+ battery which has not arrived.)
    I have completely updated WIN 7 64 bit Pro, all drivers, and Lenovo Solution Center software.
    I scanned for viruses and malware using Norton, Norton Power Eraser and Malwarebytes:  all is shown as OK.
    I replaced the 180GB SSD drive with a new Samsung Model 850 SSD 500GB.  Same problem.
    Ran every hardware diagnostic tool I could find on system checking SSD, memory and all other hardware.  All reports as fine.  CPU temperature is 45-52 degrees C max.  SSD temperature is about 34 degrees C.  No noticeable hot spots on case.
    Updated BIOS.  Same problem.
    Disabled hibernation.  Same problem.
    (Perhaps related is a message from Lenovo Solution Center that a hidden (non-lettered) partition on the SSD is 95% full.  I assume this partition, which is labelled "Data" like the D:/ partition, is some sort of system related log or backup separate from the backup stored on the D:/ partition.  I cannot find any solution on the Lenovo website explaining the purpose of that hidden partition or how to expand it beyond the current 99.99MB size.)

  • Problem with laptop and docking station

    Hello.
    We have two laptops with two docking station. Both laptops w/ docking have the same problem:
    When the computer is turned off, and its still connected to the docking station, the fan in the computer start to run really fast. The fan goes on for a good while. This is making alot of noise, which can be annoying for the person using the office. When the computer is on, the fan runs at normal speed. If you disconnect the computer from the docking station, the fan stops immediately. Any ideas?

    It is possible the notebook is not completing the shutdown in full when docked.
    Make sure the BIOS is the most recent version.
    Here is the most recent one to try should you need it.
    Other than that, I am afraid I do not have much else for this. I did some research, but I didn't really find anything that was exactly like this. I found scenarios where the fan would run at full speed when docked, but this happened whether the notebook was booted or not. You can try your luck in the business support forums to see if they may have something that is a little more helpful.

  • [SOLVED] Graphics problem in laptop with dual NVIDIA cards

    I'm trying to install Arch on an Lenovo IdeaPad Y510. The laptop have 2 NVIDIA GT755M.
    The second graphics card is removable. If I remove that card I can see with lspci that there also is a intel graphics chip. If the second card is mounted lspci only shows me one GT 755m.
    The problem is that I cannot start X. I have installed gdm and gnome and when booted normally the screen goes blank and the cpu-fan speeds up and after a while the computer reboots.

    I've tried without a xorg.conf and with one generated by nvidia-xconfig but they give the same result.
    Where do I find the README mentioned in the log?
    Anyone knows what the problem is?
    I tried Ubuntu before installing Arch and that worked (with NVIDIA drivers version 331) so it should be possible to get this machine working.
    Any help is appreciated!

    I've given up on the nvidia-drivers and try with nouveau-driver. Still no success.
    Screen is black at bootup. I can, however, login and type reboot and the computer reboots (although I cant see anything).
    If I add nomodeset to bootline I can see the login-prompt and login, if I then run startx I get the following in /var/log/Xorg.0.log:
    [drm] KMS not enabled
    This link https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ke … de_setting  does not help very much, I've tried the "Early KMS start" thing but I still have the same problem.
    If I have gdm enabled with
    systemctl enable gdm.service
    and boot the computer the screen is blank. If I login with ssh I can see that gdm is started.

  • Problem connecting laptop to wireless network

    Greetings. 
    I recently installed ArchLinux on my asus N80Vb laptop.  I downloaded the .iso for the core installation and burn a CD which I used to install.  Checksums were a match.  I followed instructions on the installation guide and everything seems to have been a success.  I installed all packages which seemed to have anything to
    do with wireless networking. 
    The only problem is that I am having difficulty getting my laptop to connect to the wireless network in the house. 
    The network wireless interface in the laptop is an Intel WiFi Link 5100.  I am assuming the driver is loading properly: output from dmesg | tail is:

    I followed the manual wireless setup process <a href="https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless_Setup#Part_II:_Wireless_management">here</a> to try to establish a connection and couldn't connect: trying to ping www.google.com gave an unknown host error.
    I have netcfg and created a configuration file with the following:

    (I added CHANNEL='6' because my PC running Fedora shows that it is connected to mynetwork on channel 6, so I thought maybe...).
    Connecting via a wired connection is also a possibility but would prefer not to.
    Any suggestions?

  • Problems with laptop when charging!

    I noticed that this might be a common problem with HP model. I have been trying to make my laptop (Pavilion dv7, bought less then a year ago) to work as it used before for a week now and still can't manage.
    It seems that the Laptop is not charged, if switched on, and battery is empty (less or equal to 9% of charge). However when I turn it off, after some time (IMPORTANT: not immediately after), it starts charging.
    However I noticed that Battery does get charged when it is still 75% charged. This happens even when doing heavy duty work (Power Plan set to High Performance, 1 Virtual Machine running, 20 YouTube videos, and Playing DVD).
    I tired all tricks in the book (un-install battery driver and re-install it [done automatically from Windows7], Remove battery when switched off, turn it on with only adapter, switch it off again, attach battery and plug in adapter, etc). However although these seem to work once ot twice, the problem always re-appears!
    Personally I still can't figure if this is a software or hardware problem! I do not thing the battery has any problems since after it is charged, without any the adapter it gives me full 2 hours of heavy duty work (Virtual Machines, Streaming Videos, etc). Also the battery check tells me that the battery health is “Good”, which means it should be charging correctly.
    Does anyone know what the problem might be?

    I did as you suggested. I allowed the battery to drain (10% charged) and connected the adapter. As usual it did not want to charge. At this stage (that is what adapter connector but battery not charging) I did a battery health test using HP Support Assistance installed on Windows7 by default. This told me that battery should be replaced and gave me a warranty id.
    After this I downloaded the system BIOS by downloading it from the HP Support & Drivers site (http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support_task.html). After this (with the adapter connected) I installed the new BIOS driver. This when ready restarted the computer. I turned the computer on again to confirm that the correct version of the BIOS was installed. Note that at this stage the battery still did not start to charge and therefore I turned the computer off and followed the steps given above to hard reset the battery. When I inserted the battery and connected the adapter the battery started to charge immediately. After turning on the computer I did a battery health test and this time the test said that battery health was good.
    I then waited until battery was fully charged and allowed it to drain up to 10%. Again when I connected the adapter the battery did not charge and in Windows 7 it tells me “plugged in, not charging”. If I do a battery test at this point (adapter connector but battery not charging) I get the message that battery has to be replaced and I am given the warranty id.
    Is there anything else I can try!?

  • Support issue with X230 problem charing and power button stuck.

    My X239 is not charing to the full 100%, I have two other Thinkpad models that my parents and they all change to 100%.. This is newer than theirs. Also the power button on the laptop is not flexing enough, you wont fee if you are pressing it. I send this for repair twice and its not fixed yet.I wonder the support tech read the whole desciption of the trouble or just goes by the category of the trouble. I like to talk to someone to make sence but its all automated. I am so much dissatisfied with their service and the product itself.

    I’m sorry to hear that battery of your Lenovo ThinkPad X230 is not charging to 100% and the power button is stuck.
    I would suggest you to follow the below troubleshooting steps.
    Shutdown, unplug AC and remove battery. Press and hold power button for several seconds. Then re-install battery and AC and restart and see.
    Download latest Power Manager and Power Management driver.
    Uninstall Power Manager and Power Management driver that is already installed.
    Reboot the laptop
    Install Power Manager and Power Management driver
    Reboot laptop again and see if helps.
    Go to Power manager -> Battery tab in advanced view -> Battery maintenance -> Select always fully charge ->Ok and restart the system.
    Ensure that the system is plugged-in and that battery firmware is up-to-date.  Check the Lenovo support site for any battery firmware updates for your particular model.  Perform battery gauge reset.  This will allow the battery to relearn available capacity. Update BIOS to the latest level.
    Regarding the power button, you may have to disassemble the system and reseat the button. Refer hardware maintenance manual to perform disassembly of the system. Otherwise, you may have to report the issue to Lenovo technical support again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Problems getting laptop started after ipod load

    I downloaded iTunes from the Apple website and my machine would barely restart. I restarted my computer in Safe Mode and was able to delete the iTunes directory. Problem resolved. I then made a horrible mistake of starting my laptop with the iPod cd in the drive. Now I have the same behavior...machine barely starts up, will finally get to the desktop after an hour or so, but I cannot do anything, taks manager shows little to no processes, but I am not able to do anything on computer. Started in Safe Mode again but nothing iTunes or iPod to delete. Can anyone help?

    I just got off the phone with Apple. Their response is that something was wrong with my computer to start with or I wouldn't be having this problem. My machine is W2k SP4 with all the critical updates prior to loading iTunes. This matches the requirements identified by Apple. But my computer is the one with the problem.
    So I guess all the rest of you who are having problems really just had an unstable computer like me, before you attempted to load ITunes.
    Completely unbelievable that there is no ownership of the problem at Apple.

  • Shuffle Problems - Now Laptop Hosed Up

    My Shuffle quit on me a couple of weeks ago. Got the flashing green and amber lights. Called support, and they shipped me a new one. But, in the course of trying all the stuff recommended in the user guide and the online help (5 things to check), I somehow managed to hose up (technical term) my laptop, with all my music on it. I was getting "memory could not be read" errors when booting, on both my Firewall (Black Ice) and Antivirus software (McAfee). I was able to clear both of these boot errors by uninstalling them but I was only able to reinstall the latest McAfee. I get the "executable encountered a problem and had to shut down" window just trying to install the latest Black Ice. I get the same indication trying to launch iTunes (seems to install OK, although I get that "executable encountered a problem and had to shut down" at the end). I've uninstalled, reinstalled both iTunes and Quicktime several times and no luck. QT launches fine. I've been working on this, literally, for 2 weeks with no luck. I'm at a point where I'll probably have to send my laptop back to my internal ops folks (it's a work supplied laptop) but they'll probably wipe out all my music, photos, etc. I did not have a single problem with my laptop until the shuffle quit on me, and I upgraded to the latest iTunes trying to resolve it. I REALLY want my music back but with my firewall not installed, I am hesitant to go on line on my laptop. I've tried just about everything I've read in all these threads. I have no idea how I can clear this problem. Sorry for the long message. I'm at my wits end. I'm open to just about anything. I even tried running a registry cleaner (ErrorKiller) and it ALSO logs the "encountered a problem" error. I'll fax $20 to whomever can help me resolve this. It appears that I'm not alone in the latest version of iTunes causing problems. So why is Apple still telling customers with problems to download it?

    Yeah, you sound like me all right. Except YOU sound like you know what you're doing, while I often shoot from the hip. I have more of a knack then skill. I don't think it's a 64 bit edition, but I'll double check. I used SOME Clean Up utility but not sure if it was the RIGHT one. I just Searched (from Start button) for "Cleanup" and ran an executable I found in the Windows/System32 directory. Seemed more for FILE clean up then memory or registry though. What is the path to the one you speak of?? I downloaded a registry cleaner called ErrorKiller but it won't launch either (same thing..looks like it installs OK but I see "encountered an error" when trying to run it). Not tried CCleaner yet. I'll give that a shot. I finally even elected to SEND the error report (presumably to Microsoft) but I don't know if that does me any good or not. I have downloaded v6.0.4 of iTunes today (at work) and was going to try that next when I get home. I seem to have lost the install disk that came with the Shuffle. Awful lot of bother for such a tiny, inexpensive device! But I REALLY like my Shuffle (I call it The Lido Shuffle). Perfect for the gym. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your helping me brainstorm this, Rachyl. If we can get this working again, I'll owe you big time. Thanx for helping.

    One of the server node is not starting in the laptop when network is not there.
    If we connect to network and start the server it is starting both nodes.

    Yes, I feel the problem with your IP address. When you are not in the network go to the command line and enter the IPCONFIG, let me know the output. if u didn't get the IPaddress you need to install the loopback adapter to install the IPaddress.
    Let me know the output of the IPCONFIG.
