X230 WLAN crashes during sleep, all drivers inc latest

Hi. Every time I put my laptop to sleep by shutting the lid, it crashes, which I notice since when I open it, it's off and booting up windows 7 tells me it's receovered from a fault.

I upgrade my drivers using SlimDrivers, but it's been doing this for a long time, irrespective of upgrading drivers.
I manually installed 7zw407ww.exe from here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x23...
No improvement. I'm tempted to try one of the realtek ones from here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=21&Level=4&Conn=3
But I don't know which one is my NIC. According to device manager, the adapter name is:
1x1 11 b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter
Hardware ID (top one):
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_819510EC&REV_01
8176 & 8195 aren't options on the Realtek site.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can stop the wireless driver from causing this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
I never noticed such issue on my notebooks and to be honest I didnt find any similar cases here in the forum.
From my knowledge the new BIOS update is available for this unit on the Toshiba driver page.
I would recommend downloading the right and compatible BIOS and to perform the update.
Hopefully it helps.

  • Crash during sleep with kernel messages

Two days in row now my Macbook Pro Retina crashed during my (long) commute in the car from work to home. It was put to sleep at about 17:10 and I opened it at around 19:30 and noticed immediately that I had crashed when seeing the initial login screen.
Checking the console logs I could see it woke up at around 18:20 and after several messages involving wifi and Calendar it starts outputting a massive amount (500) of kernel messages like the one's below. Does anyone have any idea what this could? Is this a hardware issue?

    Hello Cuypers,
It sounds like your computer is getting a Kernel Panic. I recommend the information in the following article, and the troubleshooting steps toward the bottom of it named:
OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4636
    Preventing unexpected restarts
In most cases, kernel panics are not caused by an issue with the Mac itself. They are usually caused by software that was installed, or a problem with connected hardware.
To help avoid kernel panics, install all available software updates until Software Update reports, "Your software is up to date." OS X updates help your Mac handle the kinds of issues that can cause kernel panics, such as malformed network packets, or third party software issues. For most kernel panics, updating your software is all you have to do.

  • Itunes crash during update all apps or even a few apps at a time in windows

My itunes crashes when I click "update all apps" or even when I just update manually a few apps at a time.  Its not related to the version of itunes it seems the issue has occured during the passed few versions.  I've tried logging off the store account and relogging in.  I've reinstalled itunes.  I've uninstalled all apple programs from the pc and itunes and reinstalled everything fresh. I've deleted the library files and let itunes create new ones and the issue still persists. Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • MacBook Pro crashes during sleep

    Hi folks,
I have a MacBook Pro C2D 2.33ghz. For the last few months, I've been experiencing an issue in which I walk away from the computer, it goes to sleep, I come back, and it won't wake up -- I have to hold down the power button to turn the machine off and back on to get it to come back.
The only thing that changed since this started happening was that I replaced the external display I was using -- an Apple Cinema Display 20" -- with a Dell 3007WFP-HC. I can't imagine why that would be causing this, though. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Martin

easy to find out about the display. Set the sleep timeout to something short and disconnect the Dell. Let it fall asleep a few time and see what happens. If all is OK reconnect the Dell and do exactly the same tests (ie same amount of sleep).
do you by any chance still have the old display? try the test with that if you can.

  • Computer crashes during sleep

After installing the latest software update ("J2SE 5.0 Release 4"), once the computer goes to sleep it turns completely off (crashes). This behavior is new. I repaired disk permissions, and have run Disk Warrior 3 times. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same problem after installing this latest update, or if the problem might be something else and the surfacing of this problem immediately after installing the update is just a coincidence?

Be very sure you are not simply catching the computer between states.
This happened to me a few times before I realized it was in the "going to sleep" mode but not there yet. I did what you did the first time. Then I decided to do nothing and after a few minutes, the machine was sound asleep as usual.
If you see the "pilot" light dimly lit but not out, see what happens if you just wait a few more minutes.

  • 10.4.8 crashes during sleep

Since installing the .8 upgrade, my Mac dies when it is sleeping! When I attempt to wake it and proceed, I get a message saying that OS X has crashed and I need to restart. Upon restarting, I get a message asking if I want to see the "report" or to send a "report" to Apple. As soon as the spinning ball quits its spin, the window disappears and I am unable to send the report. This has happened just since I installed the upgrade. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hi, Carole.
    1. As a general checkup, I suggest you run the Procedure outlined in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.
    2. Some Intel-based Mac post-sleep behavioral anomalies have been resolved by removing the sleepimage, as follows:2.1. Start up from your Software Restore DVD usually labeled "Disc 1" or "Install Disc 1."
2.2. Select language. The Installer window then appears.
    2.3. Select Utilities > Terminal
2.4. At the terminal prompt type the following exactly as written:
    sudo rm "/Volumes/Macintosh HD/private/var/vm/sleepimage"
then press Return. Note that if your startup disk is not named "Macintosh HD", substitute the appropriate name.
2.5. Type your Admin password if prompted, then press Return.
2.6. At the Terminal prompt, type exit and press Return.
2.7. Quit (Command-Q) Terminal. Focus returns to the Installer.
2.8. Quit (Command-Q) the Installer. Select Restart.Good luck!

  • Crashing during sleep mode

This started happening after i upgraded to Yosemite. When the computer goes to sleep, it doesn't  wake up. Sometimes the screen lights up correctly, but nothing works. Other times the screen stays black. Also, sometimes, my iMac won't even start up again unless i actually unplug it from the wall, wait a few seconds, then plug it in again.
Otherwise, the computer works fine. For now, i have set it so it never goes to sleep.
Any ideas on what's going on here? And how i fix sleep so it works again?
Is there diagnostic software, that might find the problem and fix it? Is there something in Terminal I can do to fix it?

  • Lenovo T440s Crashes During/After Waking from Sleep

    Hi there,
I recently purchased this laptop for school and one of the primary factors was the battery system; being able to switch the external battery on the fly is excellent but I wonder if it's causing some of the problems I have had.
I've had a couple of recurring problems, although disabling "Hibernate" may have solved one:
First, the so far "solved" issue: when waking from sleep (Windows 7 Pro), the laptop went to login screen, allowed me to input my password, and then brought up the desktop background. However, no matter how long I wait (even when it was plugged in/on performance mode), the resume does not continue and the laptop requires a hard reset.
Secondly, I've had this next problem sometimes multiple times per day - the laptop is set to sleep if not active for a few minutes (to save power during classes), but has (particularly when I close the lid, even for a few minutes) crashed either during sleep or during the attempt to resume.
Essentially, I would open the laptop and it would go through the start menu, then say the laptop had been shut down improperly (as if it had a BSOD). Once, it came up with an error message:

Looking now, I can't find the XML file, and don't know what to use to open the .dmp file.
How can I fix this issue so my computer isn't crashing all the time and potentially losing valuable project work and notes?
    Thanks,

No response yet? funny, this is reflecting on my experiences ordering the thing in the first place.
Seriously, it's frustrating having a brand new PC crash every other time I let it sleep.

  • Mac mini crashes often during sleep

I have a mac mini about 6 months old.  Everything was great for a while but for the past few months it's been crashing every 1-2 days during sleep (I go to wake it up and it says it restarted after a problem).  I have a bunch of crash reports, I'll paste the most recent below...
When it first started I ran apple hardware test which found bad RAM.  This was replaced by company but crashes continue (apple hardware test finds nothing wrong now).
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Updated to latest version of virtualbox and crashes persisted.
Completely uninstalled virtualbox and crashes persist.
I think I had some trouble with my router in the past but have switched to using a TimeCapsule.  I will try unplugging from my wired router and go with just wifi next.
If that doesn't work will try the suggestion for a new monitor cable.
After that I'll try replacing RAM with factory RAM again.
...and if that doesn't work Maverics should be out by then and I can do a complete OS reinstall.

  • How can i fix my mac book pro. My safari crashes all the time, my screen will turn black for no reason, My iPhoto crashes during upload from my iPhone, I can't highlight anything and I can't drag anything.

Someone PLEASE help me! I cant figure out what is going on with my computer.  I don't install anything weird, but my brother does.  He's very good at computer tech stuff and is in I.T, but I cant help but blame him for all the problems my Mac is having.  Nothing works like it should.  My safari will randomally crash, my screen will randomally turn back, my iphoto will crash during uploading from my iPhone, I cant highlight anything, I can't drag anything.  When I want to click on something, I have to click over and over again just for it to even register.  I know everything is up to date and recently reset my PRAM.  I'm running Lion and have a lot of room on my hardrive.  I have an external harddrive and I'm wondering if I should just move all of my important files over to it and completly wipe out my computer's hardrive and start from scratch.

Some folks can't leave well enough alone, and insist on downloading all sorts of additional "stuff" that ends up making their Mac unstable.
Standard Mac OS X on properly-operating Hardware does not crash, unless you start installing too many add-ons.
You can run "just the basics" by holding down the Shift key at Startup. This does one pass of Disk Repair, then loads a minimal set of extensions, and comes up in Safe Mode. If it works OK that way, but crashes in "regular", it's the add-ons.
There ia another layer of add-on junk that can be added to Safari. If the only remaining problem is Safari crashing, those add-ons can be disabled as well.

  • Crash during sync, now all my apps are gone.

My laptop and iphone crashed during a sync. Laptop would lock up as soon as the phone was plugged in, and the phone started random reboots and freezes.
I reinstalled WinXP and itunes on the laptop, but still could not sync. The phone would come up "sync in progress", but then nothing happened. Left it sit overnight, and sync still would never complete.
Restored the phone to factory settings, and now everything seems fine. Only problem is that all of my downloaded apps are gone. I can see the history where I purchased them in the itunes store but they are not in itunes. If I try to reload them it wants me to pay for them again. Is there any way to recover previously purchased apps?

You can re-download purchased apps for free. Click on buy, click yes to I want to purchase, another popup will appear, you have already purchased, do you want to re-download, click yes.

  • After installing 8.2 on my iPad all the apps crash during use. It appears that the iPad saves a version of what I was using because after the app crashes I double press the home button an there is a screen of an older version of the page I was using.

After installing 8.2 on my iPad (2nd gen) all the apps crash during use. It appears that the iPad saves a version of what I was using because after the app crashes I double press the home button an there is a screen of an older version of the page I was using. I swipe it away and start over, only to have the same thing happen again. I have reinstalled all the apps, rebooted, synced and re-synced with iTunes. This is VERY irritating!

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

My iPhone has crashed during a sync and now I can't restore from backup as it is asking for password to load the backup yet neither the lock code for the phone or my iTunes Password are working... I have no other password to call upon and need the restore to retrieve info onto my phone, I am a real novice to this...... please help, !!!!

If anyone else is looking for a solution to this same problem, I was able to get it working looking through several older discussions.
The solution was to use the password that I had on my iTunes account the very first time I set up the iPhone about a year ago.  I changed my iTunes password about 10 months ago;  but apparently, the backups continue to use the password that existed when the phone was first set up.
A couple of troubling things with this are that 1) I didn't apply a password when I did the backup this afternoon so I don't understand why it was required when I did the restore a few hours later. and 2) it makes zero sense why iTunes would not be smart enough to use the current accout password when requiring the password to restore from a backup made with no password.
I thought iTunes and Apple were smarter than that.  With so many posts stating exactly the same problem, it is clear that this is bug in the software.
    Best,
    Craig

  • Desktop computer crashes after sleep mode since upgrade to Snow Leopard

Since I upgraded my power Mac to Snow Leopard in December, I've had nothing but problems, all of which appear to stem from when it comes out of sleep mode. This computer and all applications were rock solid in Leopard! I also have a mac book running identical programs and that IS rock solid on Snow Leopard. I have a 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon processor with 10 GB ram.
I did a complete re-install of SL and all programs as per the Apple instructions.
Basically, the computer crashes after sleep mode. I've tried all the fixes I've read on the net. Here is the report thread from the last crash. Does it mean anything or throw any light on the problem to anyone?
    Thanks,
    David Wright

The problem has been identified as the RME fireface400 audio driver. I've spent some considerable time experimenting to identify the culprit. It's clear that this is what is causing all my problems since Snow Leopard. Whether it's exclusively the drivers fault or partly also due to a conflict with apple SL, I don't know, but I have crash reports if apple want to see them.
From your first post, it appears you are using Fireface audio driver version 2.64. RME released a new Snow Leopard compatible driver (version 2.65) last December. It is available at RME: Downloads. (There is also a firmware updater for the Fireface 400 there, which you might want to check out.)
It isn't at all unusual for a new OS version to require new drivers for third party hardware. References to this can be found all over the web, in "read me" files & other documentation, etc. -- it doesn't just apply to OS X but to Windows & other OS's as well. (One of the biggest problems with Vista was poor third party driver support.) In fact, the X-Lab "Resolving Kernel Panics" article specifically cautions users to make sure all such drivers are current. See section 6.1 of that article for more details.
I don't know if you missed all this somehow, but if you haven't already downloaded & installed the new RME driver (& possibly the firmware update as well), then do so now. While you are at it, check for other similar updates for any other third party hardware devices you use, using the info in section 6.1 of the X-Lab article as a guide.
Hopefully, this will resolve your issue, which (as already mentioned) is kernel panics, not crashes. If you still have problems, post more about them, being mindful of the difference between application crashes & kernel panics. Because they are fundamentally different, they have different cures, so we will need to know which type they are to offer effective help.
