X230T - Broken Screen - Replacement Options?

Lenovo Thinkpad X230T (3437 CTO) As you can see, I had an accident.  I bought this tablet just a few weeks ago for engineering school, and the screen is totally shattered.   I contacted Lenovo about my 3 year warranty status, and how to go about repairing the machine, however they informed me that my $100 warranty does not cover accidents.  They said it would be $750 to fix it, which isn't possible for me.  I need to repair it myself.  However, this leaves me with a few questions.   The screen is a 12.5 inch multitouch display.  I am not sure how the touch components and display components operate.  Are they combined into a single unit, or is the screen display a seperate component?  I have plugged the tablet into another moniter via DVI cable, and it is fully functional, INCLUDING THE TOUCH SCREEN CAPABILITIES!   After some research I have found this replacement option:  https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/IBM-Lenovo/THINKPAD~X230~TABLET~3437/ However, that model number is only 3437, not 3437-CTO.  I'm not sure if that matters, but I don't believe so.  Even the 220's appear to use the same screen technology.   If I were to buy this screen and replace the broken one, would the touch screen capabilities still function?  Would that component come with the unit I ordered, or would the already functioning touch screen remain seperate and intact?   Any help would be greatly appreciated.  This has been an extremely stressful few weeks,  and this has added a huge punctuation mark to that.   Thanks

  • HP Compaq A900 laptop broken screen replacement.

    Hi Guys,
I am a newbie here. Please tolerate me if my question sound basic or silly.
I have a broken screen on my Compaq A900 laptop. Its a 17" WXGA+ lcd screen. I will try to replace it with a used screen as I am on a budget.
The question is will any 17" WXGA+ screen suitable as long as it is from another hp laptop ?
    Any advise appreciated.

It is a little more complicated than that. You need to find the same model screen, and not all HPs with 17" widescreen wxga+ will work. The right one could come from an HP but also a Toshiba, etc. You need to remove the screen and search by the part number of the screen, or you can go on eBay and buy a screen for your specific model. Laptop screens are generally pretty reasonable now.
Here is one on eBay now, but $170 is just about as expensive as laptop screens run right now. You just have to be sure you are getting the right thing and if you search by screen model, not laptop model you will get more "hits" and likely a better price:

  • Screen replacement options.

I recently dropped my iPod and the screen got cracked. I looked into getting it replaced, but there are two options. The rev 1 screen, or rev 2. The rev 2 is 60% brighter. The problem is, they were both sold with 30 GB models and I have the 30 GB model. I don't want to go with the cheaper option, I want to go with what is in my iPod now. Is there any way to tell which version I have?

You probably have the revision 2 version of the 30GB.
The first version was released Oct 2005 and included a 30GB and a 60GB model. The second version was released in Sept. 2006 where the 60GB model was dropped and an 80GB model was added. The 30GB model was still part of the lineup but had a few updates over the first version which included a new brighter screen.
I will have to disagree with Ky C. about the brighter screen giving you less battery life. The update in September gave the iPods brighter screens with the same or less energy use, they were not brighter simply by making them consume more energy. So if you run it as full brightness the battery life shouldn't be any less that the first version of the 30GB. And if you ran the screen dimmed to the level of the original versions, you should see INCREASED battery life.
Anyway, if your iPod that was gifted to you was brand new, then you likely have a revision 2 and want the rev 2 brighter screen.
    Good luck,
    Patrick

  • Broken Screen - Replace Screen?

I just got my phone two days ago, and the phone fell off my couch and the screen cracked. Phone is working fine, I was just curious if there is a way to take my screen from my iphone4 and replace the screen on my iphone4s?

Find an Apple Store and have them do it. Its not as easy as YouTube and other sites show you. Many folks have had other issues after opening their device. Such as voiding your warranty. ( That issue may already be moot)
If you have the Asurion or Assurant Supplemental insurance you can replace the whole device. However it would be more than the $100 Apple charges to replace your screen.
    Good Luck

  • What is the cost of replacing iphone 5(broken screen, out of warranty) with a higher model maybe 5s? In India.

    Hi,
Yesterday i dropped my phone and the screen got shattered. The phone is working fine. but the screen is cracked.
After searching through the internet, i found out the following options:
    Getting Out-of-warranty Replacement.
Getting the screen repaired by Apple Store.
I am located in India and had  bought the phone from India only.
    So my questions are?
What is the cost of getting an out-of warranty replacement for iPhone 5?
Can i get a replacement for a higher model of iPhone( maybe 5s or upcoming iPhone 6). If yes, how much extra i'll have to pay?
Is it possible to repair the broken screen in India? if yes, what will be the tentative cost?
    Thanks.

iPhone 5 screen replacement at an Apple store is ~$120.
The price of getting the screen replaced in the US on the 5 is $150, and it is only available on the US as of now.
iPhone 5 screen replacement at an non-official Apple retailer is $75-90
Should the OP decide to go that route, he will be forfeiting future support from Apple, both in and out of warranty
    A new/refurb 16GB iPhone 5 from Apple is ~$400
A used 16GB iPhone 5 on Craigslist or Swappa is ~$275-350
Apple no longer sells the iPhone 5. They keep a number of units on hand for out of warranty service, which is $269 in the US.
Buying from Craiglist (or on-line) is usually risky as the phones turn out to be not what they are advertised as.

  • Apple Product Replacement & broken screens

Before I box up my Ipod and pay for a courier to the repair center I would like to know if the "Apple Product Replacement Request" will repair a shattered screen? I have an estimate of $125, but when filling out the request there was no option under "display" for broken screens just malfunctioning ones. Am I better off taking it to an Apple Store (2hrs away)? Any advice?

Actually Apple will replace your iPod with a refurbished one. Apple charges a flat-rate depending upon iPod model and capacity.  That is why a broken screen is not specifically stated.  For further info see:

  • Broken Screen - What is the cheapest option??

Ok - A friend bought a 3G last spring - at a supplemented price... Within about 1 month he got it wet and ruined it... so he bought another at full price. Now he has broken the screen...
What are his options - I have seen $250 for screen replace - but what is the full cost of the 3g now?
Any ideas for the cheapest way out??

I'm not sure about the cheapest option but if your friend is in the U.S., Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price, which pays for an exchange at a discounted price off the full retail/non-subsidized sales price. The cost is $199 plus tax and does not require signing a new two year contract with AT&T.
