X230t LCD Bezel /w Fingerprint Reader FRU number

Hi all!
I need to replace LCD plastic bezel with fingerprint reader sensor in x230t (3434 CTO).
As I see in http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/x230t_fru_bom_20121010.pdf doc
it's FRU number is
04W6941 -- LCD ButtonBzlASM wFP CM2
I don't know what CM2 or Comet-2 acronyms means.
Could somebody confirm this FRU number?

Comet is the company that manufactures the fingerprint reader.
Most of the LCD bezel comes with fingerprint reader, so there are more of them in stock as compared to the one without fingerprint reader. The price of the parts depend also factor in inventory cost, and the lack of supply.

X230t Fingerprint Reader Stopped Working

It seems the fingerprint reader on my x230t decided to stop working. Running Windows 8.1 Pro x64. Device manager lists a "TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode" under Biometric Devices and that's it. BIOS claims there is no fingerprint reader installed under the security tab, and the Lenovo Fingerprint software cannot detect the reader, either.
I appreciate any help!!!

you might like to add which operating system you have installed, which browser(s) you are experiencing the problem with and of course which version of the password manager software you have installed.
If you are using the chrome browser it would appear that a recent chrome update may have caused some issues.

W700 LCD bezel screw caps part number?

Hi everyone,
I've had the LCD screen replaced in my W700 recently. One of the plastic square screw caps that mask the bezel screws is peeling off however (it seems they don't like being re-used).
I've looked in the Hardware Maintenance Index PDF but can't seem to find the part number to re-order the screw caps so I can just stick a new one on (I presume it's a CRU part given how easy it is to install by the user).
Can anyone here (Lenovo staff or otherwise) tell me what part number I need? As far as I can tell the W700 screw packs don't contain these screw caps. Maybe it's part of the LCD screen bezel?
I just want to get someone at Lenovo to pop some in an envelope for me, first thing's first though is the part number.

If you need the square caps for the LCD bezel you can order the screw kit 60Y5510. It's normally for T510/W510 but the caps are the same. The only difference is the number. TheW700 has 6 screws, T510/W510 just 3. But the kit might have enough caps.

I need a new LCD bezel for W520. Which FRUs to get?

today I've broken the LCD bezel on my W520 and I'm looking for a new one.
And I'd like to make sure I understand these FRU's correctly:
60Y5482: LCD bezel itself.
04W1585: Screw kit. Does it contain those 3 square screw covers that are on the LCD bezel? Or are they included in a Tape kit 04W1586?
04W1566: Clear plate. This should be that wide sticker with 3 icons, Lenovo logo and a W520 text, right? But I see only this FRU for both T520 and W520; so how do I make sure I get the correct W520 one?

The clear plate kit will contain both T520 and W520. As far as the screw kit, most have the stickers but some don't. I don't know about T520, but the old ones can be reused if you are careful when removig them from the old bezel. I suggest the tip of a razor knife.

T60 Fingerprint Reader

I recently began having a problem with my T60 fingerprint reader. It started saying to reconnect the fingerprint reader. I removed the memory panel just below the keyboard to investigate and found that the tiny white plastic clip that holds the ribbon-cable in contact with the reader was broken. One of the barbs had broken off and it was no longer making contact unless I put an unreasonable amount of pressure on the top of the reader.
My question is, what is this part called and how can I replace it?
I have looked around the Internet and through various Electronics/Technology stores with no luck.

you are probably better replacing the complete Palm Rest.
You will be able to find the correct FRU (part) number for your model in the Hardware Maintainance Manual. You should be able to order it direct from IBM or another source such as Fleabay.

Correct Wattage and FRU number (T61)

My power supply has ceased working and i'd like to know the wattage (65w or 90w) and the correct FRU number for my model...

Type 7659
Model 12G
Serial No. xxxxxxx 07/09 (I'd like to know what the 07/09 means)
On back of Laptop it says 7659 29v - 3.25/4.5A
I've been told by ebay sellers that it's a 90 watt (Altho one said it could take a 65w or a 90w... Dunno about that)
My logon doesn't work on Lenovo site anymore, and since they updated site, neither do a lot of the links i've tried!

I think i'm going to go for a 90w adater then, just in case i want to install dedicated graphics in the future, but also because - for some reason, the detailed Specs link on lenovo is now 'WORKING'... (Cleared my Firefox Cache)... It only mentions a 90w.
While i have your attention though, Could anyone tell me if there's a spare "Mini PCI-Ex Slot" for a Graphics Upgrade ?
Just incase there isn't, I have a Type II Smart Card Slot and either a Smart Card Slot or an ExpressCard slot. (A Credit Card fit's in it + Looks like the 4 Big contacts sit on the chip).

Fingerprint Reader Not Working

So I had Avast! on my computer. It was annoying and scanned every file for like 30 seconds with DeepScan. So I uninstalled it. When it uninstalled, it removed my fingerprint reader driver. My computer got really slow and a lot of my apps don't work. I wanna punch the Avast people. It is not a virus because I did not download anything after I uninstalled. I am not that dumb. I tried to reinstall according to people on the forum but it didn't work. Under device manager, I get: http://prntscr.com/3qpb8y
It says "unknown device."
Then, when I go to Control Panel, I get this: http://prntscr.com/3qpbrc
On the login screen, it gives me the option for fingerprint read login, but the light on the fingerprint reader doesn't light up and it won't log in. I even did a system restore to before the uninstall and it still doesn't work. -_- Then, I did HP Recovery Manager and reinstall Validity Sensor and SimplePass. That didn't help either. When I tried to reinstall SimplePass I got an error message. I saved the log. Here is what the log said behalf of the error:
Info 1721.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. 1. The full Model No. and Product No. - see This HP web document if you don't how to locate the model number and\or product number.
2. The complete version and name of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 64bit ).
3. Is your notebook still covered under warranty? Check your warranty status Here.
Check in the BIOS to see if the fingerprint sensor is enabled.

What is the FRU number for R500 2718-bb7 for the WLAN card

Searching for the FRU number for the wireless WLAN card. Believe it is 43Y6493 but want to make sure before the 1802 error comes up. Unauthorized card installed.

from what I can see that's an Intel 5100 card. According to the R500 parts list the 5100 card has the FRU 43Y6461, which was superceded by the FRU 43Y6493 so you shouldn't have a problem with that FRU.
Alternatively have you concidered the 5300 card? FRU 43Y6459 / 43Y6495 about the difference.

T420 win7 64 - fingerprint reader error, "The dependency service or group failed to start"

Hi,
On my T420 with Win7 64 bit, when I try to enroll a fingerprint I receive the error message "The dependency service or group failed to start".
I get the error code E7210001 with two description, "The dependency service or group failed to start" and "An internal error occurred (bpwb: bp-wb-dpi-ed-wbebu(8007042c))."
Anyone have any idea how to get rid of this error message and be able again to use my fingerprint reader? What services should I check in order to have fingerprint working?

i suggest uninstalling the Client Security Software and the Fingerprint Software.
head to http://support.lenovo.com and reinstall the two softwares above.

Fingerprint Reader Not Detected

There you go, I am facing the same problem, my finger print reader is not recognized, attached below is my screen shot of my device manager where i installed my drivers for this finger print reader.

My model number is: Hp pavilion DV 6907 TX
The model was initially with the Operating system - Vista, my finger print reader all worked fine, then i later upgraded to windows 7, where i was successful in finding all drivers for my lap top. I was successful in finding the drivers for my finger print reader as well, and i installed it, that's the reason it shows in the device manager, but i don't know the reason why it is not getting detected.
Is this something to do with the hardware failure to get detected by the drivers ? or an incorrect driver inside my laptop which is not gelling with the hardware ( the driver is not getting digitally signed). please help.

ISTR that this feature isn't available any more. Something about Apple buying the reader manufacturer - and their patents - and refusing to supply the rest of the industry. Readers available to Lenovo just can't do a power on.
Is T440s unable to power up with the fingerprint reader anymore?

Fingerprint Reader Not Connecting - Windows 8 - HP Pavilion DV7

Have searched high and low for solution to my fingerprint scanner issue - tried many site's instructions with no solution.
Please help -
I have a HP DV7-6c27cl (Pavilion)---Purchased 11/2012.
Upgraded to Windows 8-64 bit day of purchase and fingerprint scanner quit working along with TrueVision HD webcam. HP Driver update for webcam worked perfectly - Up and running there.
HP SimplePass software is loaded running version 5.20.233a (DigitalPersona).
Went to HP and downloaded new driver (SP58834) for fingerprint scanner. Searched their updates using specific model number of this laptop and it gave me that driver to update with. Software starts but no joy on the reader.....
Simple Pass still says "The fingerprint reader is not connected." "Connect the reader."
Earlier today when trying a number of different fixes I had a biometrics tap under my device manager and another in control panel......on one of my attempts to find a solution I erased these. No longer there now.
Not sure what to do from here. There doesn't seem to be any solution on Digital Persona website either.
Please help and thank you.

That Digital Personal software won't run on this computer... The old DP software only runs on older hardware. Nice software but it doesn't run on new computers.
You need to run the "real deal" SimplePass software.
Here is SimplePass software that will run on Windows 7 or Windows 8:
sp59664 HP SimplePass V6.0.100.257 Win7-8
You can use your Windows 7 Validity Sensor Driver:
sp55109 Validity Sensor V4.3.205.0
Driver ALWAYS (re)installs FIRST, then a Reboot
Software installs Second, set up the basics, then a Reboot
Set up the rest of the software the way you like it, Export the webcards (password database)
