X230T strange battery specs

Hello!
I have got a replacement X230T. Interesting thing, the battery specs are different. There are even multiple Volt- and Watt-values printed on them. Now I am wondering which one would be the better one or whether they are in fact similar and the calculations with Watt, Volt and Ampere are just different. Battery 1 has been used for one year already, so should I keep the new one regardless of its specs?

  • Strange Battery and Startup goings on!

    Hi
Ive got an old G4 667mhz laptop running 10.3.9. Recently Ive been experiencing some strange battery behaviour. I seem to get low battery warnings even though the % shows its above 50%. The most noticeable glitch is that I'm often unable to boot up the laptop without it being plugged into the mains - unless the battery has been recently charged.
I'm guessing (hoping) its a battery problem - although I guess buying a new battery will probably be the same cost as the whole machine
    many thanks for your help
and a happy new year to you all!

The battery level indicator can get out of whack sometimes I have heard, this I was told happens more if you don't run the battery charge down all the way and just run to half and recharge, run to half and recharge.
Try running the battery all the way down and charging it up a few times. Sometimes it helps things.
That said its possible that your battery is just getting into its latter days and is nearing the end of its service life. (If this becomes the case remember to properly dispose of the battery when its done please)
Some after-market batteries will also give you longer running times then the Apple ones now.
Also this is the G4 PowerMac forum you will probably get more PowerBook related help in the Power Book Forum

  • IOS 8.1 installed yesterday has spoilt my iPad 2! There are no keyboard, message or app sounds, performance is now sluggish, juddery and strange, battery is draining fast and it no longer security locks when put to sleep.

I am so cross because iOS 8.1 installed yesterday has ruined my iPad 2! There are now no keyboard, message or app sounds, performance is slow, juddery and strange, the battery is draining fast and the iPad no longer security locks when put to sleep.  I have checked all the settings, done a number of resets and really wish I hadn't bothered and stayed with iOS 7 when it all worked like a dream.  I thought that by waiting until 8.1, teething problems would have been fixed and I am just horrified that there is no going back!  I am not the only iPad owner that has this set of problems so why didn't you warn us Apple!  What are you going to do to help us?  I do not want to be forced into buying a newer version of iPad because you broke this one!

In spite of the fact that you said you checked the settings, I still believe that you have system sounds muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

AS for your other issues, have you done any other troubleshooting like resetting your iPad, resetting all settings or doing a complete factory reset?

  • Strange battery indicator problem....

I'm having a very weird problem with my iPod, any help would be greatly appreciated!
I recieved an iPod Video 80gig as a replacement under the Best Buy replacement plan. At first I was very happy, as I had turned in a 40gig photo...so it was a nice upgrade.
But I soon realized something was wrong. The iPod simply wouldn't charge beyond a certain point, about 3/4 up the indicator. I would have it charge for days, on both a USB and AC adaptor charger, and it would never complete charging. From there, the battery began to hold no charge.
Figuring it was just a bad battery, I paid to have it replaced. I was sure this would fix the problem, but it seems it hasn't. Once again, it won't charge beyond about 3/4 of the bar, no matter how long it charges. It will play fine, but the battery seems to drain at a progressed rate...not as bad as before I had the battery replaced, but still quicker than it should.
Strange this is, the place I sent it to, to replace the battery, did a test to make sure nothing else major was wrong with it. But nothing turned up.
What the heck is going on with my iPod? Is it actually fully charging and just not showing it? But still, something seems wrong. Maybe I just got a bad iPod back. I plan on returning it to BestBuy for yet another, but I would love to hear anybodies theory on this or if anybody else has had the same problem.
    Thanks in advance!

dk07, glad to know I'm not the only one having this problem. I hope you can get it figured out as well. It is very frustrating.
Jeff, I appreciate the links, but I've been over those first two quite a few times, with no success. The last one is a bit more interesting though.
I guess what I mean to ask is; Is it possible that my iPod is actually charging all the way, even if I never get a "plug" icon and the bar never goes above 3/4 on the battery indicator, no matter how long I charge it? Can the battery indicator be 'that' off? I have yet to run into a help topic or tutorial that addresses specifically an iPod (with a brand new battery) never switching to the plug icon or never going beyond a 3/4 bar. I am willing to accept that the battery indicator may be inaccurate as to the actual charge, but the specific issues seem not to be as common as the general one; and that is what bugs me.

  • Need some advice - Strange Battery Graph

    hi there,
    need help here plz
I'm facing issue with my Z1 battery since a couple of weeks : it drains a bit faster than it used to do, and the graph is showing a strange evolution of battery consumption ! the graph is in a shape like "stairs" : for example, it drops from 70 to 65 without using the phone intensivly ... and keeps going like this till it reaches 0 and shuts down... Battery is still good according to the Disgnostics app (*#*#4636#*#* menu from the Dialer)
I also noticed a bit less battery life : used to be about 24 hours, using the phone normally... but now i can only get about 16 or 17 hours using phone  the same way
would be grateful for any advice here, thanks
PS : I apologize for any mistakes, english is not my native language, neither my second one
    Regards,
    ZeDrygin

    Hi Alex,
    Thanks for your answer.
Actually, I don't think an app is draining the battery. apps consumption seems OK to me. the most energy used by screen and Sys/kernel, and I have no crappy apps like booster, taskillers, ramsaver...
I tried to run on safe mode for a couple of days. Battery lived longer, indeed... But not so much, it lived about 5/6 hours more than usual, this seems normal as no apps are trying to sync etc... and percentage drops are still here (maybe a mismatch between the read voltage and estimated percentage!)
BTW, still on 4.4.4... and wondering when will I get Lollipop ? I really hope that a software update will solve the problem, otherwise it could mean the battery is no longer efficient and I have to replace it !
will try to upload a battery graph for a typical day use, to show clearly the sudden drops of battery percentage !
    Regards,
    ZeDrygin !

  • Sudden shutdown- then strange battery behavior?

About a week ago I was using my 2009 Macbook before I went to take an exam. When I left it had very little battery left (it has given me a warning) but I just shut the top and left, figuring it would go into Safe-Sleep. When I came back, I found that the fan was running very loudly and that the screen was dark. When I plugged in my MagSafe charger, it didn't recognize that it had been plugged in. In an attempt to prevent the fan from burning out, I took the battery out for awhile and then put it back in again... and the fan began to run again. I figured I would let it run for a little while and eventually the fan turned off and a while after that the computer turned on.
Ever since, I've been getting strange readings about my battery from the built-in indicator and my iStat Pro widget. When it's not plugged in, the built-in reader doesn't tell me how much battery is left, but instead lags and then tells me that it is plugged in and "Not Charging"
Right now iStat Pro is telling me that my battery is 29% charged when not plugged in but when I plug it in it tells me that I have 10 hours of charging remaining until I reach 100%.
I'll have this laptop for a year next week, it seems a little early for battery problems of this scale. I swear I haven't dropped it! Anyone have any ideas before I bring it in?

My iBook seems to take a long time (15 minutes) to calculate the battery charge.
A note on the lower right-hand of this page:
    <http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html>
says 300 cycles is the battery design life.

  • Mac book battery specs

My Macbook is one year old with 144 charge cycles. The mAh spec is 3721 which is quite a bit lower than my wife's who has 95 charge cycles. In addition I no longer get a low battery warning but rather an abrupt quit. I can kind of live with all this, but wonder if it indicates a problem that will get worse.

    Follow this link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86284
    And install this updater:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/batteryupdate12.html
And calibrate your battery once a while:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86284
And if you have the original macbook core duo, I think apple extend the warranty for that battery.
    Good Luck.

  • Nokia N8 and strange battery low notifications

I have strange experience with my Nokia N8 notifications about low battery. Other Nokia phones sending lots of "beep's" when battery level is low - my N8 sends only one (maybe 2, but this last one is before phone turning off). First one with asking, that i will turn on power safe mode and 2nd (whatever i choose power saveing mode or not) is the last one "Battey empty. Please charge" (or something similar.
I think this is very strange and **bleep** off behavior. Any1 had like me? Is any fix for this issue?
Thanks from advance for usefull tips and sorry, because my English is very weak.

I agreed with that, but what if i don't know, that my phone have battery low, because i left it on table or other place in house and i don't hear first warning? Phone will discharge battery for good and turn off itself. I have few situations, when i don't hear this first (and only) warning and i was suprised at the morning, when i saw my phone is turned off or in the middle of the day, when someone tells me, that he can't call in to me (because phone died). Other situation when i must use my phone when i have 10% of battery power, after switching to power safe mode (like quick check when i have bus on Internet, quick call to somebody or what is WORSE: when i write long text in QuickOffice and phone shows me middle finger...
Other Nokia's having LiON batteries too and they have normal notifications. Some thing is really messed up here and it must be fixed. I feel like HTC HD2 user (i was HD2 user), because this phone do exactly the same "trick"...

  • Request for new battery specs

Can someone tell me what are the specs for a fully charged new battery for a 2008 MB (aluminum)?
i.e. full charge capacity, voltage, amperage, etc.
My current battery shows 3276 charge capacity, 12419 volts, 0 amperage, 551 cycles.
It used to say "replace soon", now it says condition "normal".
Did the battery calibration thingy, and MB shuts down sooner around 17% these daze.
    Time to replace?
    Thanks for all replies.

Full capacity originally was around 4200. At 550+ cycles, your battery has had a long and productive life. Consider a new one.

  • Strange battery looking icon on my IPod

Hello, I am unable to use my IPod. When I turn it on it shows a strange disconnected battery icon. When I connect it to either an outlet or the USB port nothing happens. I know it has a charge as it has been connected to my computer, my cousin's computer and a wall outlet for more than enough time.
After it has been connected for about a few minutes the open apple icon appears and it remains on the IPod screen until I give up. After an undetermined amount of time the screen goes blank.
    Can you help me?

I'm just trying top determine if the battery is dead for good and if I just need to send it back.
When I connect iPod to the computer via USB, I get a large battery icon (one bar lit)in the middle of the screen with the lightening bolt through it. However, that icon is not listed in the icon list that is available on the Apple site (or at least I couldn't find it). After several seconds it will go to the "sad" icon, then to the Apple logo, and back to the "sad".
iPod is making some noise which sounds like the hard disk trying to work (a consistent clicking noise), but going nowhere.
Beacuse of this, I can't "update" or "restore" the iPod because the computer doesn't recognize it as a device at all.
Troubleshooting doesnt seem to address this secenario.
    Anyone have this same problem.

  • T23 Battery not charging, strange battery/charger behavior

I have an old T23. Two months ago it suddenly stopped charging the battery. It seems as an IC problem. Therefore, I decided to buy an external battery charger (ThinkPad Multiple Battery Charger II, P/N: 22P9040), and a new battery, since the old one could drive the T23 for less than, say, 15 minutes.
After receiving the charger and a new battery (from two different suppliers in USA), I found a strange problem: the old battery is charging normally, but operates for 15 minutes, or less, and the new one is not charging - the orange light flashes permanently.
After that, I decided to buy another new battery, this time from Hong Kong, but the whole story repeated.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  • Understanding PowerBook battery specs

    Hi all,
I have a PowerBook G4 (15", 1.67ghz) and just purchased a new battery because my old one was draining in about 30 minutes (and I've done one calibration run on the new battery). Here are the relevant specs on the new battery from MiniBatteryLogger:
Max Capacity: 4240 (me), 4800 (best), 3242 (average), 409 (worst)
Original Capacity: 5200 (me), 5200 (best), 4422 (average), 4200 (worst)
    My questions are these:
    1) I see that a Max Capacity of 4240 is about average for reported statistics, while the best is 4800. Should I expect something like 4800 for a brand-new battery?
    2) What exactly does "original capacity" mean? And how could the max capacity already be so distant from the original capacity?
    Thanks much!
    Cheers,
    John

I'm not sure about MiniBatteryLogger's data, as I've never used it. But, your PB's battery is a 50 W-hr battery, meaning the 'original capacity' is 4630 mAh. That value is calculated based by dividing the power (50000 mWh) by the voltage (10.8V) = 4630 mAh. Actual values of new batteries will vary. The other factor is time - once made, lithium-based batteries are good for 400-500 charge cycles or 3-4 years, whichever comes first. So, depending on how long before your purchase your battery was produced, the max capacity it can currently hold may be less than that of a newly-made battery. I would expect that PB batteries are not ordered too often, so they sit on the shelf for a while (even at Apple, but especially at 3rd party sellers / eBay sellers).
(Hope this helps - I actually followed you here from the MBP forums. )

  • Strange battery run down

    Hello all,
I have strange problem. When I put down my phone at nights battery run down mostly 1-3 per cent per night, but sometimes it took 25% or more. What is it?
    Some program jammed or what?
And one more question: is it normal that when I turn off alarm clock then it "eat" more battery?
Sorry for my English, I hope you understand my questions.
    ibron
    iPhone4
    OS4.1

You may had an app that was running in the background while you went to bed.
Double click on the home button to bring the fast app switch bar, check to see if you have any apps in there (just because it's in there doesn't necessarily mean that it is running), hold the app for 3 seconds on until it jiggles, then hit the "-" button to remove it from the fast app bar. This should close the app entirely.
as for your other question. it uses battery when your alarm goes off. Otherwise it will not eat your battery when it is not.

  • Iphone 3G strange battery indicator readings (not typical issue)

I know a lot of people are complaining about long charge times and not reaching full charge but my problem is quite unique and after many hours searching I have not found a similar issue.
I have noticed that my iPhone charges very quickly usually in less than an hour. I verify this by looking for the plug icon at the top of the screen and at the horizontal battery indicator seen when waking the phone from sleep.
The strange part besides my fast charge times is that sometimes when I charge my phone from about 20-30% battery life it will show the lightning icon at the top..then a few minutes later I will see the plug even though the phone is obviously not close to being fully charged...the plug will go away after a few minutes and revert to the lightning until it finally finishes. Is this situation a reason to get a replacement unit? I already installed the latest update. I am not noticing any signs of poor battery life or stuck indicator besides this one issue. Am I the only person that has the plug icon show when the iPhone is in the middle of being charged???
also I have reset the phone multiple times yet in the usage menu, it shows that the phone has never been reset. These are all minor quibbles may be but I want to know if it is justified to seek a replacement phone...thanks

Hey, i did experience the same problem. my battery would charge half way, displaying the lightning icon, and then the it would stop charging, displaying the plug icon. my battery wouldn't charge to the max. I was pretty ****** off about it so i went to my nearest apple store and told them about the problem; now i have an appointment to see a technician. After going to the apple store i used my iphone until the battery was completely dead and then i plugged it to my computer. After a few hours it charged completely (plug icon appearing when fully charged)???? i don't know what happened. Now i'm just testing my iphone's battery life to see the the problem arises again. so far it seems to have improved after i completely drained the battery. (tip)
I'm gonna keep on testing the battery and see if the problem arises again.

  • Strange battery symptoms and genius bar questions

    Hi,
I have a white macbook that I bought used with a used battery. When the battery started showing strange symptoms I replaced it with a new one. The new battery functioned perfectly for one cycle, then the same symptoms started again. Basically the computer isn't always recognizing the battery, with an X showing in the icon. Also with the charger connected the battery will sometimes charge, sometimes not. The activity shown in the icon doesn't always match what the stats listed in "about this mac".
So my questions: Is it likely that the brand new battery could be flawed and producing the same symptoms the old one did? I bought the computer reconditioned through a third party with an extended warrantee that won't cover the battery. How do I determine if the battery is the problem, or if it's the computer itself and I should send it back to the seller?
I've read some about the "genius bar" and I'm hoping for some info on that also. Is it necessary to make a reservation, or will they take walk ins? Will they give me any grief because it's a used computer not bought from them? What do they charge? Can I expect a complete diagnosis from them?
thank-you for any info anyone can offer!
I should add that I've reset the PRAM and NVRAm with no results. resetting the SMC (did I get that right?) worked only until the next time I started the computer. The Battery updater seems to be updated.
    Thanks

Yes, it's possible to get a defective new battery. It's also possible the AC adaptor is defective, and it's possible there's a problem with the motherboard.
I would look at the following articles for possible help:
    Apple Portables- Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters
Troubleshooting Magsafe power adapters with stuck pins
Use and cleaning of power adapter with MagSafe connector
You can also run hardware diagnostics:
How to run hardware diagnostics for an Intel Mac
Boot from your original OS X Installer Disc One that came with your computer. After the chime press and hold down the "D" key until the diagnostic screen appears. Run the extended tests for a minimum of two or three hours. If any error messages appear note them down as you will need to report them to the service tech when you take the computer in for repair.
    Some "common" error indicators:
    SNS - sensor error
    MEM - memory error
HDD - hard disk drive error
    MOT - fan error
