X240 privacy screen

Looking for help with a privacy screen (the 3M Vikuiti type) for my new X240...
On my old X60 (I think it was an X60, anyway) there were sort of 'tabs' on the privacy screen itself, so they snapped into place nicely and help it to the screen solidly.
On my next machine, a X220 there were no tabs - and the provacy screen had to be held in with really ugly sticky struts which attached to the bezel and stopped the prvacy screen falling off the display. UGLY!
I can't see any gaps for tabs on the X240, but the Lenovo page for the X240 privacy screen seems to suggest there is something like that. It says : "Unique attachment system keeps the security filter in place even when the laptop is closed." If they mean sticky strips that you put on the bezel, it's hardly unique!
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/4Z10E51378/460/D67CA028B5AF4D9CA2ED0936EFFCAA26
Anyway, if anybody has any experience with a privacy screen on the X240 I'd love to hear from them. My X220 screen physically fits it, but I wouldn't mind buying a new one if I didn't need to use the sticky struts!
Cheers.

The 3M privacy screen for the X240 does use the adhesives strips to hold the screen to the display.

  • My safari preferences/ security screen has changed and no longer addresses cookies.  There is now a Preferences/Privacy screen that allows one to delete cookies, although it is harder to do than the older security screen.  Was this an update?

My Safari Preferences/Security screen has changed and no longer addresses cookies. Rather, there is a new Preferences/Privacy screen that allows you to manipulate cookies, but it is not as easy to use as when cookies were on the security screen. Was this an update?  Has this change affected anyone else? This is strange, because  Safari Help still states cookies are manipulated on the Security screen, even though the screen has changed and no longer addresses cookies.

Presuming you're referring to Safari 5.1, yes, it's moved, but I don't see it as being harder. Now you can clear all privacy-related items - cookies, cache and history - with one button, the "Remove All Website Data" button. If you want to work with individual cookies, it's still just one button, the "Details" button. So no, I don't see it as being more difficult.

  • Privacy Screen for Macbook 13.3"?

I ordered the 3M 13.3" Privacy screen, but it's not wide enough. It's more of a 13.3" square. Is there one that fits the current Macbook 13.3" models? There doesn't appear to be one on the 3M web site. Any other mfgs?

    Hi PHL07,
    Welcome to macbook forum,
yes, that wont fit, you should order one with W after the model number like pf14.1W, unfortunately 3M doesn't have the 13.3 widescreen model right now.
I try to look around the sites and haven't found one yet on other brand (except goofy laptop hood), but you can try to buy bigger privacy screen like 15" one and trimmed it according to your screen, if you really need one badly.
    Good Luck.

  • Iphone 6 privacy screen protector

    Hello,
I've had my iPhone 6 for a week now and i have a clear screen protector on it since day one but i am always used to having a privacy screen protector on my iPhones. i have been looking a privacy screen protector for iPhone 6 but I couldn't find one. Can someone help me finding me one please and i would really appreciate your help and time.
    Thank you.

Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer of the privacy screen protector you have used before, and ask them when they will release one that will fit your new phone.

  • Anyone know if there is a case with a built in privacy screen protector?

I know that like otterboxes and some other case companies have a screen protector built into the front face plate of the case. i just wondered if there's something along the lines with a privacy screen protector any help is appreciated oh ant by the way i am interested if there is one for the iphone 4

I know VLC makes an iPad player (or used to anyway, they might have removed it for some reason), but the real champion when it comes to ripped media is CineXplayer.  I'm not sure how or why, but he offers superb play-back on almost all my content.
He does sometimes have trouble with audio-codecs... and on my first gen-ipad he lags on 1080p playback.  But I think that's a hardware limitation due to the tiny RAM chip they put in it, more so than a software limitation.

  • Deleting names in blocked list on privacy screen

There are blocked names in blocked box on privacy screen - how can they be deleted?

They should. You can use File menu > Transfer Purchased From to move them, if needed.
Extra 'screens' show up in iTunes, on the Applications tab, if your software is the latest version. You can manage the apps there.
App data is backed up and can be restored. The apps themselves are synced, but not backed up. However, you can redownload apps for free:

  • What is the best privacy screen protector for the MacBook Air?

I am looking for a privacy screen protector for my 13" MacBook Air that will interfere the least amount possible with image clarity and such. I work in a busy university medical center as an intern (so sadly I do not have my own office) and would like to be able to use my MacBook while sitting somewhat close to other people. Privacy is an issue because the information I deal with is protected by HIPAA and FERPA. What are the best privacy screen protectors out there, as far as quality and performance go?

Best there is, is the 3M privacy screen

  • AT&T Privacy Screen Protector

So, I just got my iPhone 4 and I am loving it. Fingers crossed, but I have no major problems, other then my cheek muting my calls or hitting speaker phone sometimes. Anyway, i have a privacy screen on the phone and i love it but i feel as if it takes away from the amazing resolution the phone has to offer. Im curious as to what you guys think?? do you use one?? or do you feel that you don't need a protector because it takes away from the resolution.

For me I have had the original iPhone since day one. My wife had one too, then moved to 3G then 3GS. Not on 4 yet. None of our phones ever had screen protector. Nor do any of my friends (many also started with original).
Only 1 of every person I know ever got an actual scratch on the glass.
For the iPhone 4 it is supposedly even stronger and not to mention the Retina display is a big deal/feature that you honestly are just covering up.

  • T510/T410 to Support Lenovo Privacy Screen?

The T400 and T500 had an outstanding privacy screen accessory that snapped right into the laptop without any ugly plastic stick-on tabs.  This model, available at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67646.html does not support the T410 or T510.  Will a refreshed privacy screen be available for the new T-series?
Moderator edit: Fixed typo in link.

Finally found the privacy screen (43R2474) in stock at Insight Technology Solutions.  Ordered late Friday, shipped Monday, and arrived on Tuesday.  Fits perfectly in the T410 screen without plastic tabs and attaches.  Hope that helps

It sounds like you have two separate issues going on here. For the display and touchscreen response I suggest you use the following article to help isolate and resolve the situation.

  • [SOLVED] Kill the Gnome screen curtain once and for all

Author edit: you can see the fix that finally worked in post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 4#p1351594
I was inadvertently locked out of my own computer for about 10 minutes until I happened to stumble on the "Ctl + L" trick to bring up the login in screen.  How can I remove or disable the gnome shell screen lock for good.
    I already tried:
setting the "screen lock" to OFF under gnome setting > Privacy (gnome 3.10 appears to ignore this, or "screen lock" refers to something else)
the Disable Screen Shield extension - this has  not been updated to gnome 3.10
    Last edited by marko2010 (2013-11-19 18:04:06)

I think I finally found a way to disable the inactivity curtain in gnome 3.10. Launch dconf-editor then drill down org > gnome > desktop> session. Find the key for idle-delay and change it's value to 0 .
Or  you can do it in once step by running the command:
    gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.session idle-delay 0
Note you would think that going into the gnome control center and moving Privacy > Screen Lock to "OFF" would completely disable the screen curtain, but this never worked for me. The curtain would still come up after periods of inactivity, but would no longer ask for a password. Adding the fix above, completely gets rid of this pesky thing.

  • Screen Protector - Am I searching for the Holy Grail?

Hi guys, I want to get a privacy screen protector for my iPhone 6 Plus. I'm currently using a MediaDevil Matte screen protector, which I love. I've tried their privacy version but it 'pixellates' the screen due to the way that it's designed. Are there any privacy screen protectors out there which don't cause the pixelated effect on the display? Thanks in advance

  • Can I replace x230T lcd with a full hd lcd from Thinkpad Yoga or x240?

Hello. As i mentioned in the title i intend to replace my lcd/digitizer if possible.I want to know if this operation can be performed somehow.I want to replace the hd 1366x768 res,so for example the TPY`s lcd/digitizer with FHD would be perfect. From what i observed on ebay, some lcd suppliers offer this kind of LCD(i don`t know if it is an original item or not) and on the description says it`s 30 pin conectors, others 40 pins ......As far as i know x230t lcd is based on 40 pin conector .Teoreticaly if i find a 40 pin TPY lcd/digitizer it should work fine ,isn`t it!?
Hope to hear you opinions as i`m not very skilful in these type of things and i wouldn`t risk my money and my laptop health if i`m not sure that is truly possible and risk free.
    Kind regards,

    Hi,
that's impossible to replace x230t screen with ones you've mentioned w/o hard work. The trouble isn't the connector type. x230s uses LVDS signaling for the internal screen, TPY or, for example, x240 (nice screen too) - eDP.
To be clear, x230 has eDP port too, but it's routed to the docking station connector.
In theory, it's possible to connect eDP matrice. For example, via signal converter. But where will you place that unit (pcb with chips) inside of the laptop?

  • I should have got the Matte screen

I bought a MacBook Pro 2.2 last year with the Glossy screen. Being a photographer I should have known better. I am talking eyestrain from using this screen. I now have the brightness down to just several clicks above total dark ness. I see that Mac Services will change out the screen for a Matte version for around $500.00. I really do not want to sell this laptop to buy another Matte screen version. Any suggestion would be most welcomed.

How about a 3M privacy screen?
