    Problems:
First of all it's not possible to have OVI Suite in my auto-start since all other programs stom responding after being loaded.
When removing OVI Suite I can start my computer and do whatever I want. But when I start OVI Suite manually I can do everything until it tries to log in into the server. From that point on OVI Suite does not respond anymore. Further, all other programs are crashed as well, i.e. firefox does not load new data, other programs can not be started anymore, etc... Does anyone have any idea what the cause might be,
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Nussi

I've got the same problems with Ovi Suite (the actual download) and my Vista-64-PC. Whith Ovi Suite installed and the system freshly started , Ovi tells me that it cannot connect to the internet (although the pc is already connected to the net by lan) and hangs. And even without starting OVI, just after having it installed, some other programs which normally cause no trouble (e.g. Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice ...)  cannot be used any more. If I try to start them, nothing seems to happen, but the Task Manager shows that they are running as process but not as application.
Nokia PC Suite on the other side causes no problems. Seems to be a big bug of Ovi Suite. Anyone from Nokia reading this support ciscussion?

  • Ovi suite still sucks big time

And it is getting worse and worse - looking at the threads here.
And Nokia blatantly stays away from there forums with the exception of popping up from time to time asking for configuration from the users... ie the buyers.
Numerous suggestions from power users dating back from Version one of OSS (Ovi suck suite) has been totally ignored.
Numerous user questionnaires has been ignored.
And I am painfully reminded about this every week I get from PC-suite, recommending me to switch to OVI. Come on Nokia, how can you still recommend this, when you see how great pain the users are in.
Step to the plate and show yourselves in this forum. Even your CEO had the balls to recently exoplain about the problems. Is it too much to ask for the program manager for Ovi, to explain and how you will rectify??
    Cheers,
    Lars

First, sorry for the long post, but I am getting sick and tired of the patronizing and condescending comments by certain people who think they're the standard and everyone else is either stupid, immature or otherwise intellectually or emotionally challenged.
    @cataholic
Please do feel free to quit your patronizing fanboy rhetoric at any time. It is not helpful. Nor is it any more constructive than the rants of frustrated users.
Adding insult ti injury is rarely helpful.
Repeating the same same false statement about all being well with OVI-Suite does not make it any less false and is also rarely helpful.
Your comment that there must of course be millions out there without any problems is, sorry to say that, typical fanboy rhetoric and inherently flawed. This has been proven many times by people more knowledgeable about discussion board dynamics than me. (yes, there are even books written about the subject)
I can say from my own experience that only a small minority of people having issues with software or hardware will post in forums like this one. First of all, only a very small fraction of users will actually bother to look for and find a forum.
Second only a small fraction of those who actually do find a forum will post. Most are satisfied by seeing that many others are having the same issues. They either seethe quietly and vow to never buy a product of the company in question ever again or they hope that a solution to their problem is forthcoming.
I have worked in IT for over 25 years and I can say with confidence that the sync issues are definitely an OVI-Suite problem, regardless of the fact that i happens to work for you.
For many others it simply does not, in  fact it more often does not than it does. I don't just rant without first having done everything feasible to verify that the problem is not on my end or an interaction with other software, bad install, etc. etc.
I have run tests with the same PC and the same fresh images with nothing but the OS (Win XP SP 3, WIN 7 Pro 32, WIn 7 Pro 64)
Particularly interesting is the fact that I installed OVI Suite 2.2 three times on a fresh Win XP image with Office 2003 and three times with office 2007, mind you on the exact same disk image. RTwo out of three times i could not sync OL notes with OL 2003, two out of three times i could not sync at all with OL 2007, Results with Win 7 are similar.
    Hovever, there are
Zero issues with PC suite, also three installs each on Xp Pro and Win 7.
    Zero issues with Palm desktop.
Zero issues with M$ Active Sync.
Zero issues with Sony Ericsson's Sync Software.
Zero issues with iTunes for the fruit phone.
    Zero issues with Blackberry Sync.
Now try to convince me again this is not an OVI-Suite issue.
Of our roughly 35 Nokia users here at the data centre, the majority (25 that i Know of including myself) had issues with OVI Suite, all of those downgraded to PC Suite (handset permitting) no longer have issues.
Ovi 3.0 which is in closed beta right now has not addressed most of the issues mentioned in this forums, is still as unstable unreliable, slow and still the same memory and CPU-hog. Changes seem to be mainly cosmetic.
As for you accusing those who are more and more frustrated with the abysmally bad ovi suite of having low emotional maturity, here's the pot calling the kettle black.
It has been demonstrated many times that patronizing and deriding users that vent in forums is very counterproductive. In many forums I know, moderators delete fanboy rhetoric before they delete rants.
One reason being that rants, contrary to your belief, do just as much to get companies or developers of their collective behinds than the so called constructive comments, which are often dismissed as "you can't please everyone".
More often than not, those who scream the loudest will be heard first. Sad but true.
Another reason is that many companies correctly realize that it is better to let disgruntled users vent in the company's "controlled" environment rather than "out in the wild".
And last but not least "it works for me, you stupid or doing something wrong" fanboy type comments are well proven to fuel the fire and provoke even more rants. If people have serious continuing issues with a product, the last thing they need or want to hear  is how well it works for someone else, maybe even topped off by being served up in a very patronizing, condescending manner.
Ever seen a black lemon? They turn black when they rot. My N97 is black. 'nuff said

  • How to install ovi suite to D drive?

How to install Ovi Suite to the D drive?
The installer does not offer any options. -SS.
My C drive is full and there is not enough space for the humoungous Ovi suite. As a matter of my personal policy, I never install any application to my C drive. I have created a separate D partition expressly for installing applications.

You can change install location of Nokia Ovi Suite with following:
    - Download Nokia Ovi Suite install package from Nokia Ovi Suite pages
    - Start Windows Command prompt
    - From Command prompt, navigate to folder containing Nokia Ovi Suite install package, which you downloaded
    - Start Nokia Ovi Suite install package with command line "Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe /TARGET="D:\TestDir\Test"
    - This results, that Nokia Ovi Suite installer creates folder D:\TestDir\Test (if that doesn't exist) and installs Nokia Ovi Suite there.
    - Unfortunately, Windows Installer still keeps installer cache files and system restoration points in C: drive (or whatever your system drive is)

  • HELP! pc suite/ovi suite won't read sms on my 5800...

Hi all! I have a VERY BIG problem. I own a 5800, I have about 3000 sms on the memory card. I want to move them on my PC, so i can delete from my nokia. PROBLEM IS: neither pcsuite nor ovi suite (even 2.0) can access my sms. both software fail. here's what happens.
pc suite: i run nokia communication centre, then it starts checking messages on my cell. after few seconds, it says there are about 2500 messages, at this point i see the bargoing from 0 to 70% real fast, then when it reaches 100% it says there are only about 50 messages on my phone (basically, it only lists the MMS, totally ignores sms)
ovi suite: the first time i used it, i synced messages with my cell, and it only synced about 2200-2300 of them out of 3000. since then, every time i try to sync messages with it, it says that for some reason it cant' read the data from my phone OR that the usb connection doesn't work (i tried with bluetooth, also, and i get the same error, so its not the connection).
in other words... i can read the sms fine on my 5800, it says there are over 3000, but when i try to access them with a pc software, it doesn't work for some reason.
HERE'S WHAT I THINK MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED.  some time ago, using pc suite, i did a restore of a backup. during the restore, i got an error while it was restoring the sms. at that time, i didnt pay too much attention, since i noticed all the sms on my phone were ok, none was missing. but what I THINK happened is that since then the sms structure on my 5800 is screwed... and for some reason, my phone can read them fine, but pc softwares dont.
now my question is: WHAT TO DO? i dont want to lose all my sms... i NEED to copy them on my pc... then i can even format/reset my memory card, but i need to copy them first. any help? anything i could try? please help... thank you!

first of all, thank you for your reply!
no, very few of those 3000 sms are from operator/config messages and such... maybe 10 or 20...
i tried nokia pc photos some weeks ago... and it worked, infact i can still see the sms/photos saved on my pc from that day. if i try it now, tho, i get the same errors i get with pcsuite/ovi suite... sync fails and basically does nothing, doesnt update any new sms (last one appears to be of the end of april, which is the last time i had used nokia photo).
this seems to confirm my fear... for some reason, probably after that messed up restore i did, something in the sms structure on the memory card got messed, and now no software can read them properly, even the cell backup program. but for some reason, my nokia can read them fine, if i simply access the messages.
question now is... does nokia have a tool to fix cases like this? i find it ironic that my cell can see all the sms but none of the nokia programs can actually access them. thank you very much!

  • How to uninstall Ovi Suite from N97?

For the last 2 months i can not use Ovi Suite from my phone. After the network selection option it stops working and the screen stops loading on OVİ logo and only 1 option in settings which is EXIT.
Is there a way to uninstall OVİ completely from N97 and then reload it?
There is no problem on PC side using OVİ.

    Hi.
You really must mean ovi store on phone.
Try to uninstall it with phone application manager, from installed side, Do not
allow phone to get it again from nokia.
Try to locate old school version of nokia pc tool, not this ovi-manager. I haw probs with w7 too
with this. Now nokia shoul say: AT OWN RISK ONLY AS I TOO !!!!
My N97 had same prob, it did get mini n97 ovi store inside and f..,,ed up from it.
I managed by this way to install working ovi store, but it leaves ovi "plastig back icon" somewhere other folder what even wont work (vines about old ver.), not sure where it was now, cause phone is again at service by other problems....   c'est la vie. mmf    The very best.

  • Ovi Suite 3.1.0.81 deletes 160 contacts from my Ou...

    Hi there
The OVI suite needs to be improved in one area and that is to inform us users where it's deleting contacts.
I had to reset my N8 because it wouldn't pair with any bluetooh devices including a brand new nokia BH 609. Then I restore the phone and sync it without a problem, I make the mistake of choosing to "save contacts on the phone" when syncing for the first time.
Now I have duplicates of everything in Outlook which I spend 1 hour deleting.
Syncing seems to have restored to normal.
5 days later I'm syncing and it deletes 160 contacts from outlook!!
Why can we not set it so that Ovi suite lets you know where it's deleting from.
This is business critical and phones and suites are supposed to help us do our jobs and make us more effecient. My problems with my N8 are really taking a drain on my time and busi schedule to the point where I'll probably not buy a smart phone again for a while I'm so fed up.
Please consider this idea of letting the user know where contacts are being deleted so perhaps we may prevent a situation like this.
There's also another sync issue with Calendar, if I delete something in outlook the phone doesn't delete it yadda yadda. Not as importat of course.
    Thanks
    N8 User.

  • File manager missing in Ovi suite

I just bought E7-00 after my E90 and I was really surprised that file manager was missing in Ovi suite. This means I cannot transfer single files between PC and mobile phone. Difficult to use backup copies are not enough. Fortunately file manager still exists in old familiar PC suite, which works with E7-00 in spite of that Nokia says it is not meant for this device. I consider it stupid that I have to jump between two suites. It takes much time in vain. I wait that the next version of Ovi suite works better. Please, don't say that file manager is not needed!

  • Ovi Suite 3.0, Nokia 6303i, can't sync anything.

    Hi!
I have Nokia 6303i. I have updated Ovi Suite to the 3.0 version and now I can't sync anything on it. With ovi suite 2.0 I had no such problems.
Ovi Suite 3.0 does recognise my phone. I have 'PC Suite' mode selected on my phone, but when I click synchronise in Ovi Suite it reports a massage like this:
"Change your device USB mode to Ovi Suite mode (or PC Suite)" - even when I set "PC Suite" mode on my phon manually...
    Any help appreciated!
    Solved!

My Nokia N97 don't want to work with me anymore
Iv'e got a backup of all my contacts on my computer, but how do i export them from Ovi Suite?
