X3-02 Screen lock - pincode corrupted! Beware! H...

This is terrible. I had set a pin code and have been using it for a few days now. I was on a phonecall (on a different phone) to Nokia tech support, unlocked the screen ok, went into some settings. While still on the call, had to unlock screen again and my and got "Code error". I have tried my pin and the default so many times. Now my phone is a brick.
The Nokia support person told me I know need to take the phone into the service centre. Wow!. How did this happen? Anyways, our city was hit by a major earthquake during the week and the Nokia service centre is in the cordoned off zone. I am out of town and my phone is receiving txts that I cannot answer, and I will never see them if the phone has to be flashed at the service centre.
What a huge software bug! I do not trust this phone any more.

OK, the phone did this again yesterday. I had bin using the same pincode on the screen lock for weeks/months, then all of a sudden: "code error". I tried removing battery and restarting, same "code error". I had not changed my pincode.
SOLUTION: I left the phone turned on in my pocket for a while. When I tried later on, the very same pin code worked again.
TO NOKIA: Why is this happening? Please could you fix this. Firmware version is: 5.65.

I used a pincode on the screenlock to protect my phone if it gets lost or stolen, but now I don't trust it. Not being able to get into my phone when I needed to was a real inconvenience.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

SOLUTION: Browse to Home>Library>Preferences and drag com.apple.systempreferences.plist to the desktop.
Caused by a corrupt user preferences file. On restart, you may find user settings have defaulted. Set up as desired.

I have had the same issue which was driving me mad but think I have just found a way around it. In iOS 7 if you swipe up on the lock screen to access quick settings and go into timer then click the home button you get into the phone without calling the person back. Not a great 'fix' but hope it works for you. Come on Apple this isn't good enough, fix this bug otherwise you will lose your customers.

WiFi issue: Is it possible to change WiFi settings in a way that it does not switch off in the screen-lock mode?

I have iPhone 4 and 4s. WiFi is automatically switching off on both phones when they are inactive (screens are locked). It is connecting back after some seconds I unlocke the phone. But because I have no subscribtion for the Cellular data usage, I am being cuted from Internet all screen-locked period. All that time people are not able to reach me by email, skype, or other programs using Internet. It is quite uncomfortable, especially when waiting for something important! Is there a way to change this setting?

The iPhone does not shut down WiFi completely when asleep. It does use a power conservation mode. You should still receive notifications. There is no setting for this. It should work for you as it does for me if you don't have a network problem.
There are lots of problems reported with D-Link routers and they don't have a great reputation. If there is no help available from D-Link you may want to consider installing the DD-WRT firmware. It's available for the D-Link 615. See here for information: http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index
By the way, you do have Notifications enabled for the Apps you are talking about right? See Settings -> Notifications and Mail, etc.

IPod Nano Screen Lock bug

I think I have discovered a bug in the iPod Nano software. I'm using the latest software available as for today.
I lock the iPod Nano's screen and as expected, the graphical display of a combination lock appears. I insert the iPod Nano on to the Universal Dock and then proceed to control the Nano from the Apple Remote. It works partly. I am able to pause and play music and after a song finishes, it goes to the next one. I am not, however, able to fast forward, rewind, or skip tracks. I am able to play and pause, plus the Nano goes to the next track automatically after it finishes play the current one.
Seems to me a bug! I would imagine that the screen lock is supposed to lock all kinds of control to the iPod except entering password.

you did activate find my iPhone but because you removed it from the devices list, you cant do anything further. You need the device to add it back to the list.

Windows 8.1 Lock Screen drops network connectivity when screen locked using Win+L

I was sent here from Microsoft Community forum. The question is:
Since Windows NT 4.0 I'm using Lock Screen to prevent people from accessing my computer when I'm leaving my room. First I was using CTRL+ALT+DEL / Lock Screen, then switched to Win+L keyboard shortcut when it was first introduced.
Everything was fine until I switched to Windows 8.1 computer (Sony Vaio Duo 13 with Broadcom wireless network controller). This machine is 8.1, not 8.0 upgraded to 8.1.
My problem is that when I hit Win+L combo the Lock Screen (with clock etc.) is displayed. Then, despite I have configured not to turn off display, the screen goes blank (after 30 seconds since lock) and network connectivity is cut off from desktop
apps (I suspect the system goes into Active Standby mode, because Modern UI apps like Tune-In radio keep working fine).
100% repeatable scenarios:
## Scenario 1 ##
1) Log in
2) Open desktop app that uses network connectivity. Outlook 2013 from Office365 subscription
3) Check that it has connected
4) Lock screen (Win+L)
5) Wait for 30 seconds (first incorrectly posted as few minutes) as screen goes black
6) Unlock screen (using password)
7) In right corner of Outlook app you will see "Unable to connect with Exchange server" and few seconds later it will reconnect sucessfuly
## Scenario 2 - the more annoying ##
1) Log in to Win 8.1 computer
2) Connect to it using SMB (in my case I wanted to transfer 30 GB of files from local hard drive C: to server) \\COMPUTER-NAME\c$ from Windows Server 2012 R2
3) Start copying files from computer to server
4) Lock the screen on computer
5) As soon as screen goes black server displays message "Lost connection to the resource. Try again?"
6) Unlock screen on the computer
7) Click "Try again" and it will continue copying files
My power settings are set to go into stand by after 5 hours and if I not lock the screen it doesn't go to sleep before 5 hours.
When I lock the screen using Win+L it goes into (probably Active) Standby mode.
Is there any way to prevent it from going to Active Standby when locking screen? I need the screen lock for security reasons but I don't want it to drop my network connectivity on remote desktops, file transfers and other desktop activities before 5 hour
timeout.
This issue is not related to more or less known wireless network connectivity problem that happens to many Intel Haswell computers. Mine doesn't exhibit those problems. I can easly push 100 - 200 GB of wireless data without network drops.

Same issue here using Surface 3 Pro with either internal WLAN or MS USB LAN Adapter. I'm frequently used to keep open connections over SSH to some servers. On switching to lock screen explicitly by pressing Win+L or implicitly due to idle timeout all
connections to servers are lost. In addition, I don't get any notifications on incoming Skype messages (using Skype for desktop) when lock screen is active.
Neither NIC is showing "Power Management Tab" according to step 5 of instructions above.
Additionally observing USB LAN NIC seems to be kept active after activating lock screen, but traffic stops (according to its flashing light) when lock screen is switching off display. Blanking display doesn't seem to be adjustable in System Settings (Energy
Options accessed through Win+X).
Find attached log file of powercfg -energy -duration 300 ...
Log file is in German. It basically claims unset timeouts for deactivating display while running attached to power supply though lock screen is turning off displays within 1-2 minutes.

Can't remove the screen lock by PIN and can't use the screen to receive calls

Hello, I have a brand new SONY Xperia , Model Number D5803, Android version 5.0.2. , Baseband version 8974-AAAAANAZQ-00063-42, Kernel version 8974-perf-g3f600d1. , Build number 23.2.A.1.62.
I set a screen lock by PIN. However when I receive calls I can’t take them, because the screen in locked.
I tried to turn off the screen lock, but when I select the “ Screen lock” menu and after entering the correct PIN, the following items are not active “None”, “Slide” and “Pattern” . So I can't select “None”
The only active items are “PIN” and “Password” .
Please advice how to remove the screen lock by PIN. I hope this will help to be able to receive calls.

To enable None and Swipe options, you need to go to Settings -> Security -> Clear credentials. Then those options will become active again.
However, you should be able to take calls even when you have PIN security, can you describe what shows on the screen when you have an incoming call while screen is locked?

If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the iPod from the computer to which the iPod is synced. For information and instructions, see:

If that will not work, you'll need to put the iPod into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:

If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:

Screen locked - again, how do I fix it?

My IPAD 3rd gen screen locked again today - I had the same issue a couple of days ago and got it fixed with help of tech support.....had to do full wipe and reset using variety of actions - with help of phone support... so, before I report this issue again is there anyone out there experiencing this issue? Is it a known issue? and what is the solution? thanks

Since you had the problem previously I'd go back to Apple support. Perhaps there is a hardware problem with your iPad?

I had set my phone to use the pattern screen lock but now it is asking for a PIN.

I turned my phone on this morning and instead of the pattern lock that I've been using with this phone since I purchased it, it is now asking for a PIN that I do not know.
I contacted Samsung but they told me that my carrier would be able to reset the PIN for me remotely. I've been trying to find a way to chat with Verizon support but it keeps sending me to self help troubleshooting. It was so easy to get a live person on Samsung support, how do I get a real person on Verizon?

HT1212 I have no idea why suddenly my iPhone5 will not move past the Password screen; also, a voice describes each button I touch, and ends with "screen locked" (not "phone locked").

I have no idea why my iPhone5 suddenly will not move past the PW screen; a "voice" identifies each button touched (the Slide button, for example) or the PW buttons, and then ends with "screen locked" (not phone locked).

I believe you have Voice Over on:
You have to tap, then double-tap to select the numbers to enter your passcode.
Then:
Press Home.
Tap Settings. Then double-tap Settings.
Tap General. Then double-tap General.
Use three fingers on the screen to scroll to Accessibility.
Tap Accessibility. Then double-tap Accessibility.
Tap VoiceOver. Then double-tap VoiceOver.
Tap "On" next to VoiceOver. Then double-tap "On" to turn it off.

4.2 - No longer able to play TV Shows and Movies with the screen locked

I know this sounds like a weird thing to want, but some Movies and TV Shows are perfectly suitable for listening to without the picture (e.g. musicals, comedies, chat shows).
Prior to 4.2, even though locking the screen stops a Movie or TV Show from playing, you could resume it by double-clicking the home button and then pressing play. This would leave the screen locked, but play just the soundtrack of the Movie or TV Show you had been watching.
Now, with the 4.2 update, this is broken - and not just in a "feature removed" kind of way. If I try and resume a Move or TV Show as I did before, I get the play button, and clicking on it appears to start for a fraction of a second, before the screen abruptly switches back to the locked screen background.
This is extremely disappointing, but I just wanted to check here first to see if it's just my phone doing this, or whether it really is a bug.

No screen lock with os4 !! reminds me of htc tilt !!!

i have a major issue with the new software 4.0 seems they left out the screen lock option by pressing power button to lock the screen i always either hang up , put on hold or open a app while talking !! I'm very disappointed with apple i have many products and several phones at the price we are PAYING i would expect a better product

I'm not sure what is "ridiculous".
When on a call using the iPhone's earpiece - holding the iPhone up to your ear and face during a call, the iPhone includes a proximity sensor to automatically turn the screen off or lock the screen when doing so - there is no need to press the sleep/wake button while holding the iPhone up to your ear and face during a call. When pulling the iPhone away from your ear and face during a call to look at the screen and to use the iPhone for something else during the call or to hang up the call, etc., the screen turns back on. This is done automatically.
