What can I expect in the way of reception if my base station is in the house and the computer is in another building (2 exterior walls, 30-40 ft distance)??

Depends on things like the building structure and overall building makeup inside and between these walls. It will probably be fine, but there is only one way to find out for certain.

  • What can I expect of my 4s with wifi  connectivity. My 4s receive a signal from the same router I have always used. My 3G would pick up a signal throughout the house, and my 4s won't allow me out of the room. Is my new phone defective or just inferior.

4S at my house have stronger antenna than 3G iPhone. Reset Network Settings, tap Settings App>General>Reset, near bottom>Reset Network Settings. If still problem take to Apple for Warranty Coverage.

  • Replace a MOBO-What Can I expect?

    Hello-
I have a 2.5 yr old GNB-MAX and the IDE controller seems to have gone bad; my DVD and CD drives don't spin up correctly; this happened before and I swapped MOBO and the problem was fixed, with the faulty MOBO being repaired by MSI.  Fortunately, I have a spare MOBO of the same model, which greatly helps (smartest thing I ever did was purchase a backup on EBAY for $40).
Since I don't do this often, I can't remember exactly how the system will respond with the new MOBO.  When I swap my MOBO, what can I expect?  I presume I will not need to reinstall WIN-XP, but I will have to reactivate it, right?   What other nuances will I encounter?
    Thanks.
    Scott

I think no .. unless the mobo "touch wood" had problems... maily ... all not much difference .. unless is the BIOS different ver .. etc .... should be no problem =)

  • Memory upgrade...what can I expect?

I have just ordered 2gb of memory from Crucial to replace the 512mb i have installed. What kind of performance improvement can i expect?
I am at my wits end with my MacBook. Aside from the screen flicker, the performance is abysmal. All applications are slow and i have seen the spinning beach ball al lot more than i did with my old 800mhz iBook!
I tried the MacBooks in the Apple Store and they seemed to fly and the speed of them is what i would expect from a modern machine. The only difference besides the slight processor speed (mine is a 1.83 Core Duo 2) was they all had 2gb memory? Is this the key?
    Paul

It was unfortunate that Apple initially sold MacBooks with only 512MB RAM. Upgrading to 2GB will make a lot of difference, with less spinning beachballs.
The processor speed also affects your experience, but I think it has more effect on calculations (like exporting videos).

  • Application server 11g, what can we expect?

    Hi,
Just wondering what features can be expected in AS 11g. Rumour is that 11g aims to include best features of OC4J and WLS merged but there seems to be no information anywhere on what 'best features' are going to be taken from each. Is there any more info other than bring 'some' features from OC4J and EM into WLS and being able to manage multiple domains.
It seems there are plenty of rumours floating around but nothing published. From a customer perspective it would be good to be informed of what is happening and even have the chance to give input.

  • After Effects 2015 - What can we expect?

So after this Happy New Year! ~ and a question… | After Effects region of interest blog last year, I amongst others got rather excited about a whole years worth of development geared towards making AE faster. Since then though there has been little in the way of updates about what this actually might mean. I assume there will be some major changes coming to the backend including an overhaul of the multiprocessing situation and making more use of GPU power?
I wondered if Mr Kopriva might offer us a few teasers over what we might expect?
For one thing when buying new hardware it would be useful to know if we need to be buying more cores or faster cores ie xeon vs i7 and should we be investing in bigger GPUs?

    > For one thing when buying new hardware it would be useful to know if we need to be buying more cores or faster cores ie xeon vs i7 and should we be investing in bigger GPUs?
I'll go ahead and answer this part.
The big effort that we're in the middle of now has much more to do with multi-threading on the CPU than with processing on the GPU. If I were making a buying decision now, I'd focus on CPUs, RAM, and SSDs. Specific to CPUs, I can say that we will be making more and more use of multiple CPUs over the next couple of versions during this year.

  • BT Infinty 2 - What can I expect?

Hi, I just recently ordered BT Infinty 2 after 6 years with Sky Broadband. Never really had any issues with Sky up until now (which I'm not going to get into), otherwise always a pretty stable connection, fast and reliable. So can I expect the same from BT, what's your take on this product?

Hi TGillies, as with any product there are good and bad point, unfortunately as this is a forum where people post here about their problems with Infinity 2, however, there are many customers out there who receive great service off it.
In my opinion great choice! Hope it goes well for you

  • As FI-CA consultants, what can we expect from SAP HANA?

    Hello dear colleagues & experts,
I'm a FICA consultant and almost all of my clients have the same requirement in their wish list: real time accounting & processing in FICA. With FICA we have to run batch processes at night (jobs) in order to see the results next day for a number of important business processes (payments, refunds, write-offs, dunning steps, interests, correspondence...). In consequence Account Balance Display (FPL9) for customers it's always behind at least one day (t -1).
Iu2019ve read that in-memory database (HANA) will turn the company into a real time enterprise; does it mean that FICA will work in real time?  or can we expect that jobs will run faster if HANA is implemented but still as a batch process that runs every night?
    Regards,
    JC

Hi Tomas, thanks a lot for your message!  I'll try to answer your questions here:
I am untouched by FICA - can you please explain how exactly this works? I guess these jobs are running in ECC and they store result in ECC, correct?
JC: Yes, you're right. FICA is part of ECC and handles almost all advanced features for Collections & Receivables. It's pretty important for industries like Utilities or Public Sector (among others) where you have to deal with millions of clients every day and you have to keep track of your account receivables, your incoming payments and your dunning steps, client by client.
Is it about reporting or rather about processing some ECC things over the night?
JC: It is about processing ECC things over the night.
If FICA processing is executed in ECC and it is not about reporting - then I am afraid you will have to wait for HANA to be supported as base database for ECC...
JC: Do you have any idea of when is it planned to be released (HANA for ECC processing)? are there plans to release it?
    Thanks again!

  • SBO2006SDK: What can we expect?

    Hi All...
Any1 have any info about the SDK in 2006.. All I've heard are rumors... When can we expect any info about the release so we can plan next releases (Know the Beta will be out in november)?
Things I've heard so far (All unconfirmed):
    - Shared Memory Connection System
    - Support of UDO-DI-objects
    - Modal Forms
    - Sortcolumns, Super and Sum cols.
    Any1 have some confirmed info?

    Hi Rasmus,
I've not come across anything official, just rumours. The Beta of 2006A should be available in November but I haven't heard that this will contain the SDK.
The main rumour that I'm hoping will be true is that they've sorted the memory and performance issues. I hadn't heard the one about Shared Memory Connection...that kinda makes me nervous as it sounds like a workaround and not a proper fix(!?)
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • ETF charges - what can I expect?

I understand I've already asked about how much the ETF itself would be, and I understand that it's $350.
I just want to know; are there other charges? Like taxes? Surcharges?
I've done a little looking around and found that several people have had some additional sums of money added to their ETFs.
I plan to terminate my contract at the end of the month, since the number that's under contract is one I'm not actually using, and I don't want to keep or pay for a number I don't use. (Long story short; I neglected to look more into the termination aspect after transferring my prepaid number over to my Note 3, so I wouldn't have to use a new number, my 14 days ran out, and now I have the first month bill and an ETF to work out.)
I'm not angry with Verizon, actually. It's my own fault for not understanding how things work, but now that I do, I can be more careful about how I go about my next phone purchase in the hopefully distant future (only purchased the Note 3 because my old phone was on the fritz; no sound, jammy keys, and it was a 3 and a half year old Intensity II.) and I'm actually grateful for the experience.
So... I live in New York, can ANYONE tell me what kind of taxes and surcharges I could expect from my ETF?
I can understand if there's taxes, which would make the $350 become $378, with the 8% tax thing in mind (unless NY uses a different tax rate for these kinds of things as opposed to the typical "buy something in the store for $10, total comes to $10.80" tax idea.)
Would there be ANY other kind of taxes I can expect to have added on?

    Okay, thank you for answering!
Now, just so I understand, would that 12% be on my ETF bill, or my actual phone bill?
Just so I know to have the money ready!
It's not that I'm leaving Verizon for good; I'm using a prepaid number and would rather use my phone on a prepaid plan than a contract one. I've been pleased with my Verizon experiences so far, so I don't see a reason to leave :3

  • What can I expect?

I've been reading here extensively and wondering what sorts of problems I might encounter with my PC and its limitations. At this time I can't afford a new computer, just upgrades.
    What I have:
    Dell XPS720
    Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
    x64 based PC
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU  Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, 2400 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processors
    Bios Version/Date is Dell Inc. A06, 4/1/2008
    4.00 GB RAM
Drive C: is a 500GB 7200 SATA (primarily for just program files)
Drive D: is a 1 TB 7200 SATA (primarily for data, etc. - but it also has Windows XP Pro files as this is a dual boot system)
I also have a 500GB external drive, primarily for backup purposes
Current Video card isNVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT with 512.00 MB RAM
Currently I'm only using one 22 inch monitor, but I do have another that I could hook up should I manage to find space on my desk for it.
Sitting just a couple of feet away from me is a new video card, A Galaxy GeForce GTX470 1280MB GDDR5 Memory. On order and expected to arrive in about two days, are a set of memory cards to bring this system to its maximum of 8.00 GB RAM (I believe that is restricted by the motherboard but I could be wrong). I'll install both the new RAM and the Video card at the same time, don't much care for opening up the machine any more than is absolutely necessary.
I don't really know what else I can do to this computer beyond normal system maintenance. I have the CS5 Production Premium Suite, purchased through Dell. If it's of any help, I'm an IT Technician by trade and a home hobbyist as far as using Adobe programs. I've got a ton of learning ahead of me, using both Adobe TV and Lynda.com at the present time. I've had CS4 Photoshop for a couple of years but its only been about 2-3 weeks since I received the suite. It'll be months before we can buy cameras capable of HD or better, so being able to process HD isn't a current concern.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me. It's quite possible that I've overlooked something somewhere.
    Linda

Thanks Harm, that's pretty much what I thought although I hoped for better.
As for what I'll be doing, well that will evolve with time. As far as videos go it will primarily be "home movies", nothing terribly long and mostly under an hour in length. The more I learn the more I'll want to try to do, and I hope that down the road in time I'll be able to get a better system although this one has excelled for all I've previously thrown at it.
I'll update once I've got the upgraded video card and new memory installed. Yes, the cost of the memory was more than $60 as you expected. I had to get four cards, 2 G each, to completely replace my current four cards of 1 G each.
During my limited (so far) usage of Premiere Pro while learning to use it, and the other programs as well, my system has been able to keep up without choking. But, I haven't tried rendering anything yet. That could be the true test. One good thing - I don't have any time restrictions or due dates being thrown at me. I can proceed at whatever pace and time I have at hand.
    Again, thanks.
    Linda

  • VPN and what can I expect to see?

When I establish a VPN connection to a Snow Leopard Server will I be able to see or use applications from other servers on the same network?
Or do I only get to use what is on the Server I connected to?
And the only way I have found of using anything on the Snow Leopard Server is connecting to it with Apple remote desktop? Is that it or am I missing something?
I can connect to a server with VPN and I have all data routed through VPN ad I can not browse for server and see anything?
I have a functioning VPN into my newest Snow Leopard Server but I would love to use data from the Leopard Server that sits next door. I am able to install client software on the Snow Leopard Server and start it up and have it connect to my database but I am hoping to bring 2 or 3 remote users into the network simultaneously and have them use the database on the Leopard Server?
Does Apple have a VPN setup guide anywhere?
    Thanks group.

The Airport and Time Capsule are good home routers, and good WiFi devices.
They're also configurable as good access points, which is handy if you're running multiple WiFi devices to get coverage in a larger area.
The devices are not particularly capable firewalls for use with servers; that's not their target market.
Specific device suggestions? I've worked with various stuff over the years, and I generally end up either following the client's gear preferences, or running some research based on the bandwidth and expectations and features for the installation. And the budget; for a bigger budget, you can often get better features or easier integration. And the products and offerings and features change regularly in this market; each time I do this, I find different gear.
    Here's the general path...
There are commercial and open-source options available.
The open-source packages can generally convert a two-controller spare PC into a firewall, and most (all?) can operate with a selection of embedded x86 boxes.
In general, I look for support of VPN (L2TP and PPTP minimally, other protocols if and as available), look for explicit listings of Linux and Mac OS X details in the manuals (not because you're going to necessarily use Linux or any particular operating system here, but because the vendor went to the effort to test with a variety of platforms), and I look for a vender that does not require downloading a VPN client, for NAT, reasonably programmable port-forwarding, and possibly (as additional features, or as specific requirements) DMZ, RADIUS, anti-malware and anti-spam mechanisms.
Oh, and download and read the product manual before you buy the box. See if it makes any sense. (I've found this step invaluable for reducing the numbers of candidate boxes I need to evaluate.)

  • Next version, when and what can we expect?

    Hi
Can you please give us a littlr heads up about what and/or when we could expect NeXT Beta release?
And could you confirm that WindowsPhone universal app is on the roadmap?
Would love an answare to this

    Hi,
    1.  Can you elaborate on this one?
    2.  You can rotate a layer using the transform tool (hotkey: Q).
    3.  There is a workaround for this: select the component you wish to duplicate in the library panel, right click and choose "Export Library Package", then right click and choose "Import Library Package", re-importing the package you just exported.
    4.  Could you elaborate? I didn't understand what you're trying to do.
    5.  Check this out: http://peopleinaction.free.fr/catalyst/pia-lib/Main.html. Look at page 2/4 (Containers).

  • MBP Boots sometimes - If logic or main board bad, what can I expect?

    The Symptoms:
MBP Boots only occassionally. When it does not fully boot you can hear the disk and fan very slowly wind up, over the course of a minute. There is no startup chime. The screen never comes on and remains dark, no external monitor comes up, the keyboard and usb ports are disabled, and the latch light glows steady and dim. It doesn't repond to startup key commands and the disk you can hear doing something but nothing comes on.
I've swapped out the ram, booted into safe mode (when I can get it to boot), run disk utility and disk warrior, among other tools, booted from a flash drive to run diagnostics. Disk checks out fine, zapping pram, resetting smc, all this does nothing. Genius bar did diagnostics and couldn't find anything wrong, but offered me the repair depot.
    Conclusions:
So after researching many threads the past few days, a trip to the apple store with some diagnostics, and further testing/swapping ram/resetting pram and smc, I've come to the conclusion that I must have a problem with the logic board or main board. My computer only starts up after about 5 cold boot attempts and/or some of the above processes. Once it's up and running it's fine. When it doesn't boot the drive spins up, the fans come on, but the screen/keyboard/usb etc are all inactive, and the latch light is a steady dim white. When the computer does boot it runs fine.
    Question:
My question is, should I expect more serious problems in the near future, or is it at least possible that I could limp along for some months in this condition? I have the option to possibly submit it to repair depot for refurbishing, but if I could make it at least through some june update news I could make a more informed decision about what to do.
Any and all information, experience, or suggestions are much appreciated.

I agree with you that the people who staff the genius bar are not genius' but technicians, and are of varying degrees of competency.  However if you are offered what is referred by some as a 'depot repair', consider it very seriously.
My experience is as follow with my old 2006 MBPs:  Several years ago I had a serious problem with the display and was offered said repair that would fix the display issue and any thing else that was found to be faulty.
    The following was replaced;
         The Display
         The Optical drive
         The Airport card
         The top cover
(the old one had dents in it and there was no expectation on my part that it would be  replaced)
          The keyboard
          The bottom case
          The RAM cover
The total cost was a fixed price of $310 which was told to me up front.  That is what I paid (plus tax).  The invoice showed a total of $1240.  I still have that MBP and it still looks and operates as new.  This repair was not done locally, but at an off site location.  I suspect it was done by very well qualified technicians.
If you are offered such an option and your budget can accommodate it, I suggest you take it. You also get a 90 day warranty with it.
    Ciao.
